I have a few ideas for the troubles developers are having here
1. Each rom developer should work together and have one area that only developers can give ideas and input, only select people would be allowed to post to the area but we could all view what is in the works, a semi private forum or community, this would cut down on spam and allow for uninterupted development
2. Developers shouldn't have to handle being customer care/support, they shouldn't have to deal with idiots that cannot rtfm or search, this takes time from their own ideas and development process as well as their own lives having to keep up with thousands of people.
3. In organized places like the linux kernel project developers are seperated from the community to a point to avoid such issues that turn away good developers. Basically the developers know what need to be done, its a passion of theirs and we are all lucky to take part in the experience
4. There is already communication between developers and maybe the mods could create a read only area for non-developers, and read/write for rom developers and trusted helpers
So if xda cannot create a seperate forum just for the developers to use and for people to view but not spam/other things I say the devs should just create another rom mod community
Thanks,

The xda forum has been here for very long time. And that proves there's nothing wrong with the working model we're having here right now. Otherwise you wouldn't see an active forum like this, amirite?
Part of the problem here is that evryone in the community who has an interest in modding KNOWS that this is the place all the modders go. I agree if we created a tech support forum (or a sepperate website) with threads that can only be started by privilaged users then the madness would be contained within a logical structure.
I agree with this completely! This will force those that don't research (search and read appropriate topic) into doing some studying! We need to resolve this issue ASAP before we lose more of our top devs! I appreciate their hard work and the countless hours of effort they put in! I've read some of these long threads and they just keep getting longer by posters that ask a question that was answered at or near the beginning of the topics! Pretty ridiculous? I call it laziness!
I think this is a great idea. And also maybe an irc for devs and trusted helpers.
I read the flame thread about Feeyo's Rom.
The thread has been locked and there's is no reason to re-discuss.
Both sides have their rights for what happen. The loosers for all these are the users who wish to use Feeyo's Roms and they did not found even a single thread to forward them to Feeyo's Roms - Site.
Unlike this treatment to these users there are link to Rom (I did not mention which one everybody can easily found which one) that contains not free software as Launcher Pro Plus Tapatalk Pro maybe more. By the way roufianos asked to remove such software from his rom to remain the link in the forum.
Sorry for my English and respect the users to have possibility to try even more roms.
As an idea you can characterized these Roms as NON GPL or something like this.
With Respect to your Work and other Developers Work but also with respect to the Freedom of Choice.
Charalampos Papadopoulos
Chances are this topic is another candidate to get locked.
Have you even read the post about the GPL? Do you understand why "NON-GPL" topics are not allowed on here?
It isn't about freedom of choice. The GPL license is all about freedom - copyright freedom (hence its copyleft nature). The face that developers wish to live in their capitalist copyright world and not share their progress with others is appalling and IMHO shouldn't be tolerated.
So you asked about the users. They aren't really affected. Feeyo deleted his website - hence why no links are remaining in use. This was nothing to do with XDA but he himself having a hissy fit.
AFAIK none of the remaining ROM's being discussed here use Launcher Pro Plus or Tapatalk Pro. Many use Launcher Pro but that is free anyway. Please report any which are not complying to the mods and they can deal with it.
Thread locked. Please read btdag's post.
Please report any ROMS using warez and I will personally investigate with the other mods.
Closed as per policy on discussion regarding feeyo issue.
I would like to start off by welcoming all new and active users to the General Forum for the HTC Desire Z.
I am TheRomMistress (or TRM for short), your Forum Moderator.
I am here to help in anyway I can, so please contact me if you have any suggestions, problems, comments, etc. with this forum. While I cannot promise you will get an immediate resolution, or that I will be able to act on every suggestion, I can promise it will receive my attention.
With that being said, please take a moment to review XDA forum rules. Anyone found intentionally violating these rules will be punished.
The most important "rule" I urge you not to forget is, HAVE FUN and BE COURTEOUS! Thank you and I look forward to keeping "ORDer" and "Peace" throughout the forum.
Please feel free to leave comments/suggestions in this thread and I will do my best to accommodate them - within reason of course.
Oh and BTW - You dont HAVE to refer to me as Supreme Commander of The Universe, but I do highly recommend it.
FORUM RULES
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
2. Member conduct.
2.1 Language: XDA is a worldwide community. As a result what is ‘ok’ to say in your part of the world may not be ok in someone else’s part of the world. Please think about who is reading what you write. Keep in mind that what you think of as acceptable use of language may not be acceptable to others. Conversely, while reading member posts, remember that word you find offensive may not be to the writer. Tolerance is a two way street.
2.2 Nudity: XDA is used by people of all ages, including minors. It's not acceptable to post nude/pornographic imagery, which includes exposure of the male or female genitalia or of female breasts.
2.3 Flaming: XDA was founded as a group of people sharing information about certain mobile phones. Sharing does not involve virtual yelling (flaming) it does involve working together to solve problems in an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Losing your temper and flaming another member, or group of members, is not acceptable behavior.
2.4 Personal attacks, racial, political and/or religious discussions: XDA is a discussion forum about certain mobile phones. Mobile phones are not racial, political, religious or personally offensive, therefore none of these types of discussions are permitted on XDA.
2.5 New Members: Treat new members the way you would have liked to have been treated when you were a new member. Provide the new members with guidance, advice and instruction always with respect and courtesy.
2.6 All members are expected to read and adhere to the XDA rules.
3. Post only using a clear subject and message.
You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.
4. Use the English language.
We understand that with all the different nationalities not everyone speaks English well, but please try. If you're really unable to post in English use an online translator, You're free to include your original message in your own language below the English translation.
5. Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.
6. Do not post warez.
If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, either pay or find your cracks and serials somewhere else. We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained.
7. Do not spam.
If you wish to advertise a product, contact us we provide ads. But do not post it in the forums, it will be removed and you're likely to receive a ban.
You are however allowed to sell used goods like your own device, parts of your device or accessories for your device in the marketplace forum, please read the rules there before posting. (This rule includes signatures, if you use a signature it will appear in your post)
8. Donations.
We appreciate all donations to xda-developers.com, it keeps our forum online and well maintained. As a user you're allowed to ask for donations in your signature as a thank you for your hard work. However donations up front are not allowed, this forum is about sharing, not about getting paid to do something, that's what your job is for.
9. Don't get us in trouble.
Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things that will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably don't want to do it here either. This does not mean we agree with everything the software piracy lobby try to impose on us, it simply means you cannot break any laws here, since we'll end up dealing with legal hassle caused by you. Please use common sense: respect the forum, its users, and those that write great code.
10. Help others if you can.
If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do. This place exists because people are helping each other, and even if you are relatively new to the matter, there's probably already quite a few people newer than you that would benefit from what you've learned. Don't be shy.
11. Don’t post with the intent on selling something.
As an elaboration to rule number 7, don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. If you are the proprietor of a for-pay product or service, you may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or offer support on the product, but you may not make any posts with the primary intent of selling. This includes posting press releases, announcements, or links to downloads for trial software; the only exception to this is when you’re posting an exclusive release to XDA. Off-site downloads are permitted as long as the site does not require a fee or mandatory registration to access the content.
12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission, and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails then you may contact a moderator with clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence you created the work then in the spirit of sharing all work will remain posted on the forums.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.

To all,
We are closing this thread under allegations that this rom is the work of another dev, but modified to make it look like the OP's original work. This is also known as kanging a rom, for those of you unfamiliar with Android. Stealing work is against XDA's Rule #12
Quote:

We are in the process of examining the allegations by comparing the rom in question to the alleged original work. Once we are done with our investigation (comparing files, time stamps, etc), we will update this thread with our findings, but until then, this thread and all of its links will be shut down.
Please do not spam the boards with messages of hatred towards our actions / polls or threads complaining about this or bombard us with pm / webmaster e-mail messages asking for the thread to be re-opened as they will simply be ignored (threads will be locked and / or deleted). The only people who we will entertain are the OP and any devs working closely with him on the project (this does not include beta testers or end users).
Thank you for your understanding.

Firstly definitions,
An allegation (also called adduction) is a claim of a fact by a party in a pleading, which the party claims to be able to prove. Allegations remain assertions without proof, until they can be proved.

We flame those who create new threads demanding for new features in builds..those people being rude to chefs..those who are inpatient and cant wait for updates like the rest of us.
How about admins who have no courtesy to be discrete with such allegations such as the one above? Publicly humiliating a chef who has provided us with one of the best builds and most stable android builds. I've used many droid builds and mccm's MIUI is amongst the best as well as his desire build being stable and smooth..he even carried on darkstones work just to please users like us...
If i had the chance i would have gave that admin a piece of my mind after he posted that post...because yes if you suspect him stealing go ahead close the thread and tell him there is an investigation blah blah...but why post it for everyone to see? You might as well crucify him in front of the whole world and draw on his head 'Thief"..its the same effect.
I hope XDA staff especially if your a SENIOR learn to be more aware that chefs and devs here are human's and have feelings too.
Consider this thread your one place to chat, moan and guess when the jelly bean update will come out, or anything else related to jellybean on the SGS3.
I need everyones help to keep this thread somewhat sane, report any trolling or flaming and don't respond to it.
All other threads on this topic will be closed.
Keep all your posts in this thread polite and make sure you follow the rules. I have bolded a few points.

This includes promoting sites similar/substantially similar to XDA-Developers.com.
Do not post press releases, announcements, links to trial software, or commercial services. unless you’re posting an exclusive release for XDA-Developers.com.
Encouraging members to participate in forum activities on other phone related sites is prohibited.
Off-site downloads are permitted if the site is non-commercial and does not require registration.
Off-site downloads from sites requiring registration are NOT encouraged but may be permitted if the following conditions are met:
A) the site belongs to a member of XDA-Developers with at least 1500 posts and 2 years membership who actively maintains XDA-Developers' support thread(s) / posts, related to the download,
B) the site is a relatively small personal website without commercial advertising/links (i.e. not a competitor forum-based site with purposes and aims similar to those of XDA-Developers.com.)
12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission, and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. Convincing evidence will result in copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence you created the work then in the spirit of sharing all work will remain posted on the forums.
As an addition, developers have the right to hold exclusivity over their work for as long as it is deemed necessary by the dev or freely share it. However, if the work is claimed as exclusive, it must remain as such. No selective sharing will be allowed (ie allowing certain people to use it and not others). Should the dev decide to start sharing the work with others, the work automatically becomes fair game for all to use.
In regards to permissions, same rules remain for this but if permission was already given, unless there is a very valid reason, it cannot be revoked (same applies to major updates on the work). Under that same premise, permissions cannot be denied unless the work is exclusive or under severe circumstances.
In plain English: If you want to keep your work exclusive, go for it. However, if you are going to share your work, do it fairly.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA (including but not limited to ROMs, RUUs, apps, games, kernels, themes, icons, etc) unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.
13. Advertising and Income Generation
Commercial advertising, advertising referral links, pay per click links and other income generating methods are forbidden. Do not use xda-developers as a means to make money.
14. Create only one User Account
You are allowed one User Account at xda-developers. If you create additional accounts, Moderators will disable them and your original account may also be disabled or infracted.
15. Keep posts/threads on-topic
Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.
16. Bumping Threads (posting simply to force a thread to the top of the thread queue)
Do not "bump" a thread more than once per 24 hours.

Nice!
I'll start. I dont think JB for our devices will show today for some reason. I think it will be a week or 2 yet.
Somehow,i have the same feeling about this also...
But i'll just keep checking the forums...LIKE A MADMAN!
As much as I'd love it if the update comes on the 29th I won't hold my breath. Updates never seem to happen when they are rumoured to be happening unfortunately.
I could be wrong but I can't personally remember any that came out on the date they were rumoured other than Apple crap that is released on known dates
Hi everyone. Wanted to know..will I lose my pictures and other files if I upgrade to Jellybean?

Unless you choose to do a factory reset then no.
However, as always with updating firmware, always back your stuff up. You never know!
Thanks for this sticky lets keep the boards clean
On topic: I'll be checking for JB tomorrow in case the rumors are true, here's hoping (watch an ICS update come with a version number similar to the JB leaks just to troll us)
Good idea with the thread :good:
I was getting a little frustrated with all the "Jellybean update now!" threads that had me thinking it had arrived!
I am looking forward to it though, I'm guessing within the next few weeks...
I've played around with a couple of the leaked JB ROMs, but I'm currently going through a phase of enjoying a completely stock experience, so I'm eager for JB to arrive.
Good job, admin! The SGS3 forum desperately needed some cleaning up! Try going over to the HTC One X forums. Theirs is all clean!
I've heard that the Stock JB for Galaxy S3 I9300 will be released today. But nothing came out but the Latest Leaked Version: LH8...
What's happening????(((((
I'm currently running LH8, seems pretty stable. Only one issue found so far AllShare Cast is on and if I try to turn it off it turns Wifi off as well. Turn Wifi back on and AllShare turns back on as well.
With Touchwiz I can now add apps to folders inside the app drawer without it pooping itself everytime (seemed to be a common issue with the other JB's)

seriously, theirs is clean because they are all currently enjoying 4.0.4
I love the fact that samsung is now really working hard to bring us the best possible flavor of jelly bean. If I remember, there were not much leaks for ICS. Overall, I am loving the improvements.

After Jelly Bean comes Android 4.2.0 Kush Bush. :fingers-crossed:
Currently, the AOSP Jelly Bean now has too many bugs. Some Apps cannot run smothly. Example: Facebook - sometime force close, Fruit Ninja - a bit lag and has some force close when we stop the game,... I Hate those Force Close stuffs:|

It's official from today but it will be pushed within next days, so have a little patience. After a month you won't remember if it was We or Fr wen you got one.
Just moved from HTC Desire JB custom rom to S3. There isn't sooo much new compared to Samsung addons in stock rom. Google now is cool, maybe some more smoothness will come along as well but no big leap as from GB to ISC.
Just wait til it's 6pm in germany and the samsung press conference at "IFA" starts.
I am almost certain that samsung will not be releasing the update today, and I am even more certain that they won't officially mention it at IFA today, it was all a silly rumour thats got way out of hand.
The update will arrive in the next 2 weeks (IMO) but today is nothing special.
