How do I change white background on stock MMS app? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't wanna install any custom ROM at the moment, but is there anyway I can change the background color?

Root. Then push an inverted mms.apk into system apps. Rename the original one. Fix permissions. Reboot. And your set. I did it but i disliked that i could use the mms widget on my lockscreen.

Location of ICS background image

My i9000 has a slight issue in displaying greys. The settings menu and any other app that uses it look awful on my phone.
All I want to know is the location the background is stored so I can change it to an all black background. I've asked this question in many different threads and no one had answered me yet. So many thanks to whoever tells me.

Trying to find it, failing that a black theme should help you

What else does a black theme change other than the settings menu background?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Lots of stuff, messaging, phone, market,g mail, YouTube, menus, status bar, depends on the theme, but good for battery, and generally stylish

If you are on a Samsung ROM it's different case though, roms come with their own fixed themes if I remember, been a long time! That's the advantage of aosp/cm7/9 you have the theme chooser engine to play with

Google black wallpaper, find one bigger than your screen size and save it to your desktop or straight to your phone.
Then change the wallpaper to the new image using gallery or quickpic or whatever app you use to view photos.

I'm using Elite 1.4.1 that does have a black version. I think I'll try it out.

In framework-res.apk it's apparently in /res/values/styles.xml and color.xml
The only problem is I don't have a /values folder... Where else could styles.xml and color.xml be stored?
I'm using Elite 1.4.1 if it makes any difference.

You'll get values folders only by going into a decompiling process.

Assuming you are using ICS, its located in framework-res.apk (\res\drawable-nodpi\background_holo_dark)

[Q] How can I change the 3 botton color of Nexus 4?

As I saw someone changed the 3 button to red color , is it a apps or rom ?
Thanks!

It's the apk modification. This can be done in many custom ROM and via zipthemer or metamorph for those who had stock ROM or just a rom that doesn't support it. Both ways, you must be rooted and must have stock recovery.

Unticking the "use dark theme" doesn't work.
Basically I want the stock backgrounds with theme able bubbles and stuff...which this does. But has a main background of black.
Thanks again.

Awesome its what I'm looking for.
Weird thing is I used to just download a ROM and pull it from there set permissions and reboot. When I do that now it force closes. Yours worked though.

Removing ugly gingerbread styles

Hi
Can someone please tell how to remove those ugly gingerbread style elements in jellybean?
Like Orange focus on text boxes
Old style command buttons etc
I have deodexed stock rom and not any custom rom that i can use theme. Please help
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
You'll need a rom with the theme engine and this theme https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonny.theme.futurama
I know.. Theme can fix it. But I want something without theme?
An android.xml may be? Which can be pushed manually inside the ROM?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
You will have to edit the framework res and some other apks to remove things like that.
Wayne Tech Nexus
^^ oh sh1t it's Wayne.
On topic: yep follow the above method. If you want to see how themes are made; there are plenty of threads on xda.

How can I apply this setup?

Is there a way - Xposed module, app, ROM tweak download - to get my notification screen to look as the one in the attached picture? Some love them, but to me tiles suck. Would love icons on the smaller side, with more than one row of icons, and a brightness slider.
Currently running EuroSkank KitKat, CM 11.

possibly using 3minit
Ummm, I don't think you will pull it off with 3minit. Might need to run and aosp or CM based rom to have that natively.
One thing you might try though is this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle
I was able to get this setup with the Liquid Smooth ROM (see pic attached). The only other ROMs that feature similar notification screens are MIUI and Chameleon OS.
Any Xposed Framework mods that you know of?
