[Rom Dump] N7000XXLSA (4.1.2) BUG POOL / REPORTS - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Please be concise! Only bug reports of the pre-"official" Samsung XXLSA ROM Leak, or Samsung issued updates!.
I will add up (e.g. bug x #4 ) and list all bugs reported here. No one did so far, despite probably a disproportionate number of people using this ROM as opposed to non-Samsung baked ROMs.
High Mem Usage #5 (several reports on xda)
Camera Click is delayed ( very noticable when making shots with flash enabled)
Slow. AnTuTu reports a score of ca 8000 vs. 10.000 typical for Gingerbread
Disabling Energy Saving Mode, drops the AnTuTu score to ca 7000
When restarting movil during the activated (in the task bar) “Multi Window” option, the first time this option is not functional. Inactivate and Active! #1 (andres.gomez.pena)
normal Kies Air is not working (connecting) using XXLSA #3
Usb connection via MTP is buggy #1 (couldn't confirm Win7100)
homescreen speaks to you (TTS) sporadically #1 (the opening of voice commands may also be intentionally enabled through a tapping motion!)
Kernel is Speedlocked at 1000Mhz #1 (bloodyduke)
Cchoice for apps not always remembered. E.g. for launchers. #3
(1) Update:
The Kernel is configured as SMP Preempt. Priorization may differ in this build from previous Samsung ROMs.
It appears the slow down isn't due to rampant services at all, but the CPU mode being set to "on demand" by default and Speedlocked.

}
I apologize if my phrasing is a bit off - I am still in my early learning stages.
Battery life is great, as reported by many others!
(2) Update:
The Speedlock is due to the Battery Savings option, and actually not a bug, but working as it should.
It thus cannot explain why Antutu is even significantly slower when Battery Savings options are turned off.
(3) Update:
The OS occasionally closes or restarts applications in the background, which may entail additional CPU loads.
Be advised to turn off Multi-view from the notification bar, if not needed. Antutu went up 800 points from ~7200 to again 8000. Closing background, and halting monitoring apps - yielded me 8500 points in Antutu.

When I want to edit the preferences of the instant load in the Google+ app, it crashes.

After reset, picture frame widget is blank and you need to select the picture again.
After reset default programs ( for images, web links and whatever ) are forgotten and you need to select them again when you first open them.
Usb connection via MTP is buggy and does not show all the files in some directories.
Kies recognizes device but says firmware cannot be updated ( probably normal though because this is not official firmware )
Charging while using the phone is very slow
Confirming Google plus bug... I just uninstall that anyway...

Enabling an application in accessibility settings (e.g. NoLed or Llama) makes the homescreen speak to you (TTS) and the phone becomes incredibly laggy. Longer explanation here and another claim here.

Smart stay option in display does not work in lsa leaked . Problem is fixed in lsc leaked .

XXLSD is out. So maybe a buglist for this is more interesting - assuming that from LSA over B to C to now already D some of the A-Bugs are solved.

True. But I figured that the majority will toy with the leaked "official" ROM and either didn't or opted out of any OTA updates. The majority aren't testers but only install the official versions and might land here via google search. Yet as you said, it is a good idea to pool the more recent builds here as well to see if a potential bug is no longer reported.
To all: Please report XXLSB - XXLS? bugs here as well, along with the version you are using.
For instance this Rocketrom JB bake ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953847 ) is reported with the bug: "Zooming issue with VideoCam on 1080p-mode".
I checked this in XXLSA, and got an error message "Zooming is not supported while Recording FULL HD video". Seems OK and logical. I figure a lot has been fixed or improved in the leaked JB.
I ponder if the sluggishness and high Mem consumption is due to most applications being baked as debug versions? Can anyone confirm this theory? Much can also be explained via ( https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=SMP+PREEMPT ) - the KERNEL configuration of the leaked bake.

For me XLSA worked pretty good until it stopped. When I was listening to music on Poweramp using BT headphones phone freezed. After reboot it stuck on black splash screen GT-N7000. Nothing was working - nor nandroid backup helped nor wiping or even flashing XLSC. Had to do wipes using Abyss Kernel 4.2 Red Pill. After that I could flash or recover system from backup. All was back to normal.

Bluetooth Headset doesn't beep after call ends
Here is another bug that I discovered.
When I am using my bluetooth headset, when the call ends I don't hear the BEEP in the headset that indicates that the call has ended.
In 4.04 when the call ended I would here a BEEP in my headset.

Do you know how can I get the official XXLSB, XXLSC or XXLSD upgrade?

Someone wrote an app for that MyUpdate or UpdateMe, it was called. (If I would have the post, I would link it).
Others have gotten updates through the official channel - (Phone Status -> Update) e.g. in Singapore. You could try and VPN connect your phone to an Asian server/ISP.

1. Lags: Even with ultra clean instal. Removing some apps makes it better. But not that much.
2. Butter is more like lumpy grease. Same experience as compared to gb on gs2, now jb on note compared to nexus. Experience not on same smoothness level.
3. More black clipping then ever
4. Unstable, can sod permenantly.
5. Next to black clipping strange artifacts in screen. Rare issue
6. Regionalisation is more linked to simcard/network rather then csc or chosen countries. This makes it difficult to read disclaimers for the travelers amongst us. This for os, for samsung apps and for google play. Pretty silly move.
7. Apps dont remember their states ( e.g. browsers) This is inhibiting multitask experience. Apple can do this why not Android. Focus was on multitasking with release wasnt it?
8. Not all aps are aproachable through the multitasking bar
9. Ota changes check on root now
10. Messages in multitask mode from one app can block all others untill message is away
11. Spen becomes uncalibrated over time. Unforgivable for a spen phone
12. Nice toggles, brightness missing in stock version (60% sure of this)
13. Not as robust. A battery pull can make phone unbootable. Not foolproof.
14. Default choice for apps not always remembered. E.g. for launchers.
Rant rant, so on and so forth

I cannot confirm most of these. Performance issues, true. As for multitasking: The high memory consumption leads to forceful closure of apps. Apps must implement restoring routines. Never had any system crashes or artifacts ever - with pretty heavy testing.
If you have rooted the phone your bug reports aren't what others experience.
8. It was delivered and promoted as such. Probably for stability reasons. XDA users have broken that limitation (rooting required).
10- I checked this. Not the case. E.g. video player and gallery zooming. Depends on the application's routine to being put in the background.
11. Didn't experience that. The lack of calibration options bugs the hell out of me. Primitive y-offseting is provided through left /right handed settings. I found an app that allows Wacom digitizer calib. $$+ root. No way!
My mind was blown when I downloaded the Wacom Sketching app and experienced unparalleled Spen sensitivity.
13. Definitely not the case. I am usually too lazy to shut down.
14. Ack.

8 Would be nice if they showed an option to view all aps with a disclaimer, stability issues can arize. At own risk. If it cant harm the phone, why not .
10 we are using different apps. Probably different way of showing these prompts/status messages. So its not generically captured, my guess.
11 good tip on the app. Youre gonna love this one if it works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2027680
13 has been reported at least once, apart from my own experience
Other issues, some difficult to reproduce. That doesnt make them untrue.
I concurr, my setup in regards to stock is not 100% representative. But root cannot effect black clipping or strange artifacts. I think.
However this thread title is on rom dump, not the sammobile leaked rom(referred to as stock, which to my knowledge is not based on dump).

thanks for pointing this out. As I said, I did indeed not have any troubles with the pre-official XXLSA. Not even application crashes that I can remember, let alone system crashes - with heavy testing. Many initial bugs which turned out to be misinformation on my part.
My biggest gripes are high memory consumption, sluggishness - but I have no idea if this is normal. But there is certainly a strong argument why current phones have more RAM and more CPUs, GPUs.

ROM Speed Test - CM7 variants on G1 / Dream

Searched for this, and found CM6 speed test results, but none for CM7 and if the kernels are different, options can be different, so results can be different.
I've tried various ROMs since CM dropped official G1 support, and they're all very similar, but I needed somewhere to document the settings that work best for me.
I only use Quadrant for my benchmarking. I feel it's well-rounded in its tests, it's free, and I get a seemingly completely arbitrary number at the end.
The best Quadrant score I can recall getting was 373, although I can't help but think I once got in the low 400s. I do remember trying every trick I could to get it into the low 300s, but I'm consistently getting 360's and peaking at low 370s with the current setup.
I'm currently running FireRat's CM7 Magpie, version 2011-09-26, which is only one version behind his latest as of this posting. I am running ADW Launcher as downloaded from market (because I like how its menu entries are arranged better -- that's the only reason). I have only 2 screens, and really don't even need that many.
Performance Settings Adjustments:
MENU / SETTINGS / CYANOGENMOD SETTINGS /
Code:
PERFORMANCE
CPU
ONDEMAND, 176, 614, Restore on boot=Yes
Compcache - 18% (Default)
NO JIT
NO DITHERING
YES PURGING OF ASSETS
NO MEMORY LOCKS
VM Heap=24m (default?)
My Micro-SD is a class 4, 4GB. Partitioned [*FAT32][~350M Ext4][64M Swap]
and I'm not using the swap partition AFAIK.
Non-performance settings adjustments:
(Really, I doubt any of these have much effect if any at all on performance)
Code:
Menu/Settings
CyanogenMod Settings
Application
*All left at defaults
Display
All unchecked except 0 and 90 degrees rotations
Input
Only change was long-press home, set to show 12 screens.
Interface
Edited my power widget to my liking. Doubt it has any effect on speed.
Status Bar Tweaks
Checked: All except Status Bar Brightness.
AM/PM set to small, Alternate Signal left at default (bars)
*Everything else in "Interface" left at defaults.
Lockscreen
Disable - unchecked
Style Options - Ring, Ring, Custom App Starter, added Camera, default background
Widget Options
Always display battery
Centered
No to the Music
Next Calendar (doesn't seem to work)
--All Calendars selected
--Reminders-Only not checked.
--Lookahead 3 days.
Unlock options -- All left at defaults (all unchecked)
No to the Gestures.
Finally, in MENU/Settings/Applications/Preferred Install Location, SD EXT is selected. In Applications/Development, USB Debugging is on (disabling it did not speed things up any) and stop-via-long-press is disabled (probably no effect).
I *am* running a theme, but since a theme is mainly just picture swaps (I think?) it shouldn't affect much. I'm running GlassMix. Not the coolest, but not bad at all. I rather like it.

Feel free to reply with your best quadrant score and settings that got it -- preferably on the same ROM but other CM7-based ROMs would be welcome comparisons...
The first ,i learn,thanks
Getting a quadrant score of 393 with 2.3.5 GRP CM7, overclock to 614 MHz, purging of assets on, and the disabling verify-bytecode hack. Fastest I have seen on a g1! I get 369 with normal CPU clock.

Might have to try this ROM out. When it first showed up, it seemed to be little more than a compilation direct from CM7 and AOSP sources, which of course anyone who can follow a HOWTO can do themselves... and many have. Back then, I felt this guy was just one more of those guys. I wasn't convinced he really had any developing experience before starting with it, and I really wasn't impressed with him personally, based on comments he made in several threads -- particularly against a known (if sometimes disliked) developer who has contributed a decent amount to the community. I'll have to go back and see what all has been done recently in this ROM if its performance is consistently good enough that the hack you mentioned worked so well (it made no difference on the CM7-Magpie I'm running).
EDIT: Nevermind, turns out I didn't know who I was talking about.. actually, I did know who I was talking about, it just turned out he was someone other than the person who actually started GRP so nevermind all this (read next two posts)...

The guy who made that rom was jbirdvegas, before he made it to the cyanogenmod team. If he made it into cyanogenmod team, he must have known what he was doing.

Oh, okay, then forget my last statement cus I was under the impression it was someone else entirely... maybe someone was going to make their own and started with GRP as a base... but the way I read this guy's posts, it looked like _he_ started GRP. Thanks for the clarification (I probably could have found this out if I had taken time to research the ROM, come to think of it... () )

Its ok, i know why, you must think dw9906 made the rom, but he was just building the rom and posting it here because jbird gave him consent to do so since he was going to be unable to continue the rom since he was accepted to the CyanogenMod team. I'm not sure if he started GRP by himself, I think it was a couple of people who started it.
Also, i have one question for you, which rom FEELS faster for you, Cyanogenmod 7 Magpie, or ADS Magpie?
I noticed you used to run ADS Magpie and are now running CM 7 Magpie, and I'm just curious to know why.
Good info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uhm, honestly, they do FEEL about the same, which is why speed isn't the biggest concern for me. BOTH of them get laggy at times, and by laggy I mean two things
1) Sometimes scrolling through my apps drawer is blocky (not smooth).
2) Sometimes apps take a while to open, or, simply to do things.
Usually, 1) happens more frequently, but it doesn't bother me as my phone's doing a LOT of things.
2) However, doesn't happen that often on either ROM. However, when it happens, it's always after I've been running several different programs, especially maps with GPS enabled.
Usually, I have most of my phone turned off, so GPS, 3G, rotation, none of that comes into play in the list of things my phone is doing. If I had them running all the time, I'd be on FroYo or Eclair, not Gingerbread. The phone couldn't handle it. Or, I couldn't handle the phone.
In the end, the two are largely the same for me. The main reason I chose Firerat's over And DiSa's is that the Firerat ROM has CPU government built-in, where I have to have a CPU setting utility with ADS. Also, there was some thing or two else that Firerat/CM7 have built-in that ADS/ezGingerbread do not. Maybe the sound equalizer? Not that I run that too often, but it's nice to have.
EDIT: And you're right, I thought it was DW. Plus, you explained there why it must have seemed that DW just picked up someone else's work... he did! but I know now why, and I was missing that info before, so thanks again... Still didn't care for the interaction 'tween him and Firerat but that was something else (and yeah, FR isn't the easiest to get along with but I tend to let peoples' personalities just kinda slide -- usually -- especially in a text forum where tonal variations aren't heard ).

EDIT:Some macs/VM's dont like mounting 3.5 roms/or at very least the screen doesn't stay on when they are mounted, go to display settings and set the display timeout value to 15 mins (most file xfers don't exceed that length IMO) once the file xfer is done you can eject and unplug and your screen will turn on. This is a Mac issue nd I built the update on the Mac using a Linux VM so I know your issue, its easily avoided by just adding more or no (If you can handle it) display timer ...try mounting/unmounting your sd card if you get a ? at the music player. Its an issue that doesn't really pose as one as I've only had to unmount/mount a couple of times in the extensive amount of testing i did. Also, using parallels VM and sharing your sd card with it, Id suggest you turn the "never off/15 minutes" option on to your display time out value if you want to be able to see it...I don't make mac products or VM's and im not looking to tailor our roms to their bugs...and lastly, well i fogot the lastly part because there arent many issues in this rom, its mean clean and lean!
And yes I know I posted the same answer 3x people are still gonna ask questions....

Backing up and flashing now. I'm currently on the latest infected eternity 3.5 rom, and i'm about to do a clean wipe and install.
let us know how this compares in speed/performance to the infected rom if you'd be so kind. Im just curious to see how the different 3.5 bases perform...
How is the LTE speed? I've been staying away from ETERNITY due to the slow LTE speeds. I've been using the stock sense rom, XDABOLT 1.7 and happy with it because everything works including the fast LTE speed I should be getting.
I'm still downloading this just to have it.

Speed seems fine here. About 14Mb down and 8Mb up. I do notice the rom occasionally lags when opening apps. Not sure what to do about it, but other than that it's pretty smooth.

Just because this is 3.5 base does not mean it is like eternity. I got my usual 26mbps down in downtown chi with 6 megs up. Tbh I never noticed much of a blow in LTE speeds with eternity either though (though I never kept it on my phone for longer than a few hours...)
Here is one i did on the south side (closer to indiana, the downtown service is faster....)
Some first impressions:
-Much faster than latest eternity rom, looks good too
-I like how the google music icon has the blue tint now instead of the old orange
-awesome boot animation (galaxy nexus i think)
-texts send super fast, muuuch faster than eternity rom, which itself was faster than stock htc i think
Bugs/needs improvement/suggestions:
-On the lockscreen, the messages and mail apps each have a little icon in the bottom right corner that shows you how many unread messages you have. On eternity this icon was a nice little green circle. On this rom, however, they are ugly white squares, which not only looks bad but also makes it hard to see the number of messages, which is written in white font with a little bit off an embossed shadow. So if that could be changed to something like little blue or green circles, that would be nice. Anything but white boxes
-This is personal preference, but I like the default android loading symbol, the spinning line, not exactly sure how to describe it. It's a spinning grey curve, not filled in. This new rom uses a similar icon, it's a grey and white circle with a spinning chord (radius), almost like a colorless beach ball on a mac. If I had the option, i would go back to the default icon as described above (it's very similar to the windows 7 loading icon, except not blue. But it could be blue if you want)
-I love the CRT screen-on/off animations, which i'm sure you know what i'm talking about. Eternity rom has them. This rom doesn't have em. If you could enable a toggle in the display settings for this then that would be awesome! Believe it or not, this is one of the major features i expect and love in a good gingerbread rom!
-On the factory stock htc rom and the eternity rom, in the location settings, i could check 3 different boxes:
-Verizon Wireless Location Services (i think uses cellular network)
-Google Location Services (i think uses data connection)
-GPS (hardware)
In this rom, I only have one box, which is for GPS. Once i have GPS enabled, it does allow me to go into the setting above it (labeled "Location Setting") and enable some kind of network-based location services. So if you know what I'm talking about and can give the 3-box option, that would be awesome and greatly appreciated (normally i like to keep just the google location services box checked).
-On the eternity rom, when you go into "Personalize" (either from settings or from hitting the menu button when you're at your home screen, you can change the apps that are displayed on the default "4-app + ring" lockscreen, as well as their positions. In this rom, you can't do either; in fact, there's no option to adjust the lockscreen at all i think.
If I remember later, I'll update this post with my LTE speeds, right now i'm on wifi.
Let me know which of these issues you do or don't understand, and which you think you'll be able to fix. Thanks for all your hard work, congrats on being the newest member of team liquid! We're expecting great things from you, and this rom is a great start! Definitely my new personal rom

Most of your issues are feature requests, this is not eternity rom, its also not 400+mbs if you want a LOAD OF FEATURES then go for synergy, liquid is about minimalism, speed without sacrificing any integral feature sets (and we still leave our touch on it.) Feel free to mod any of the cosmetics to your needs. I have no issue reading the number of texts I have in my "white boxes" nor do they look ugly to me...and you can register with network GPS as well as stand alone GPS...it locks fine, I have yet to find any innaccuracy/shortcomings with any location based services, if you find them please let us know glad you enjoy the speed of this from if you aren't in stsh mode 3 zram enable then do it. And dude, go to personalize lock screen shortcuts, its there as usual please before you post a "bug" double check to make sure you looked through the settings, we work hard on our roms and before quickly reviewing it, please take time to get to know it, OC and zram it and reboot it ans let it settle. Enjoy!

Fair enough, I can appreciate a minimalism-focused rom! And hence I can definitely understand the large difference between the two roms. The things i mentioned were minor and wouldn't increase the file size by much, but if you want to keep it as lean as possible then by all means.
I would definitely mod the boxes into colored circles if i knew how, but i'm guessing you don't want to take the time to explain that to me, that's ok i understand.
I think I do understand what you're saying about the location services - you're referring to the top check box in location settings, "Use wireless networks" ? I originally had thought that only used wifi, but i see now that it uses cell signal. So thanks for pointing that out
I tried to do the zram thing to speed up the rom (i did experience a little lag, especially with the notification window sometimes not pulling down after many swipes), but i ran into the same issue as kasandoro. Then i saw your newest post and that fixed it for me (for those of you reading this, make sure that you don't capitalize the "z" in zram enable, because it won't be able to find it). So thanks for explaining that!
I apologize for missing the lockscreen adjustments screen, i forgot that it was in the 2nd tab in the personalize screen, i was just looking at the "home screen" tab and not the "display" tab. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure I gave you credit for your hard work in my first post, so no need to get huffy. I thought I had triple checked it, but I was just looking in the wrong place. But that's what forums are for, helping each other out!
Thanks again!

That did the trick! Unfortunately, it seems my phone can't handle 1.9. 1.5 seems to be its limit, so I had to back off. The zram tweak seems to have helped though.
Thanks!

Apologies if I came off as huffy this is my first major release and I killed myself working on it a few times so today I might be a bit agitated there will be a flash able update.zip for this rom we decided that from the beginning. Yup, running IX, and the phone freezes quite a bit and requires a battery pull (softkeys stop responding).
Just installed the ROM. Very smooth so far. Couple possible issues I noticed right away:
- Music players don't find my music files which are located in /mnt/sdcard/music
- Facebook for sense appears to be missing. Unable to sync contact pictures

No worries, and awesome, looking forward to it!
Note: After enabling zram i got 2 freezes, both times the device rebooted itself after a minute or two. I then went back into terminal emu disabled it. Had one more reboot since, but seems to be stable and awesome now.
EDIT: Froze again about a minute after posting. This time it actually froze in the middle of a keyboard press, with vibrate on keypress enabled, so it was sitting there frozen and vibrating for about a minute or two till it finally rebooted itself lol. Any insight as to why we might be experiencing reboots at this point?
EDIT 2: Another freeze+reboot...

Hello everyone, since I received my Nexus 5 I have been working on an app that uses the low powered step counter API new in KitKat.
How this is different from most other pedometer apps is that with the hardware step sensor, this app uses almost no additional battery so you can keep it running all day. In my testing I noticed no difference in battery life between a day with Pedometer running and a day without it.
From the Google Play description:
Features:
- Set your goal! It is recommended that you take 10000 steps a day. This app allows you to set a goal that's right for you, and displays your current progress.
- Track your progress! This app will keep track of how much and how far you walked, all day, every day. History is presented neatly, both in a list and a graph for easy viewing.
- Colorful themes: choose one of 5 themes that fill your display with color, or go with the standard holo light or dark. With 7 themes in total, there's one for everyone!
- Low powered: Unlike other pedometer apps, this one will not affect your battery life at all.
- Achievements and leaderboards: sign in with your Google+ account to unlock achievements and compete with your friends in leaderboards!
- Both single-day and multi-day achievements are available
- [Pro only] Walk info: see how far you've walked today. Calorie counter coming soon.

Often times I'm too lazy to carry my Fitbit with me, especially since having it sync to my phone drains battery. With my phone being the pedometer I feel that I've been motivated to be more active.
There is also a pro version you can buy if you'd like to support me. This pro version currently adds a distance counter, so you can see how far you've walked all day. I plan on adding more pro-only features in the future, such as a calorie counter and maybe a widget. But don't worry, the free version will still be perfectly capable of serving as your daily pedometer. If a feature is extremely popular within the pro version I'll consider adding it to the free version as well.
Downloads: Free version, Pro version ($2.99)
I have used only three permissions. One is start on boot. This is used to start counting as soon as you start the device. The other two are write (and therefore read) external storage. This is used solely for the purpose of exporting logs to assist with debugging if the need arises. Don't worry, your data is safe, and this app will not be sending away any of your information.
If you have any questions of suggestions feel free to contact me, I try to respond within the same day.

I'm working on a rather big update, includes more Fitbit-like features such as history and activities. The basic features is about done, gonna make it look nice now and test it some more. Might upload a beta apk and post the Google Play beta link here for anyone interested in testing. I'm hoping to officially release the update in a week or so, so stayed tuned!
Have you thought about partnering with a rewards company or something? Would be interesting if you could get coupons or discounts from achieving the 10,000 steps or so.
Love it!

Hi. I just got my Nexus 5 yesterday. Your app was one of the first I downloaded as I had an S4 and was looking for a low battery pedometer like the S-Health app. Yours looks great, and is pretty accurate (and NO battery drain!). One issue, I had to reboot the phone and when it started again it only showed about half of my steps??... I would love to beta test the app for you. Keep up the good work. (I also would love to have history and be able to see previous days step counts, etc.)
One of my biggest gripes is when driving, all pedometer apps keep counting. There is usually a pause feature or something similar, but it would be ideal if it could detect if you are driving or not. If this is not easily achievable, is there an intent or something else I can use with Tasker to control this app?
Thanks, and it looks really promising!

Touchless Control
Good App! thank you for building something like this. I love the statement:
Low powered: Unlike other pedometer apps, this one will not affect your battery life at all.
If its not too much, can you also look into building an app for the always listening/touchless control feature that uses the low powered core? We have another thread with a bounty on this feature.

Detecting if you are driving or not would require GPS or some form of location service, which negates the advantages of using a low powered sensor. In the current version (1.1.2) there is a pause button, but as I'm removing that in 1.2.0 for something else, you could use Tasker to force stop the app to stop counting, and use Tasker to launch the app/quickly go home to start the counting service again.

I don't think it kept counting when I was driving the other day. If it did it didn't count a lot.
Accuracy
Hey, has anybody made a accuracy test?
Thanks
Any plans to have this push results to something like FitBit or MyFitnessPal?
As for the driving thing, could you add an option for bluetooth device connected?
Example Interface:
Do not count steps if the following device is connected: (check boxes)
- Car Radio
- Headphones
- Phone Radio
- BlueTooth Headset
Do not count steps if plugged into a power source: (pull down)
USB
AC
Any
Disabled
In this way, you could set the device not to count steps if you are in your car (connected to your car radio via blutooth or maybe plugged into a power source).
I would think the power draw of these options would be in line with your design goal of keeping it to a minimum.
I have not used the app very long (pro version), does it keep track of history? An example would be a daily summary of steps/distance.
In this way, manually importing the information into other fitness trackers is easier.
Thank you for your consideration!

What you say about charging and Bluetooth connected should be simple enough to add, I'll see if I can add it. History is also coming in the next version, here's a sneak peek at what I have so far
Of course, your full history will also be viewable and can be exported as CSV, although that part isn't quite done yet.

Thanks for such a simple app. It worked fine for the first day. However, it's not working now. I have restarted phone, still same result. After first day in the night, i press pause button. Next day i pressed play, but it's not counting steps. Do you have any update coming out soon?
It works, and the UI is "clean" and easy, but the count is not perfetc... can't it be optimized?

It's difficult to differential a person physically shaking the phone versus actual walking. The fitbit series face the same problem as well

Try force stopping it, clearing data, rebooting, then launch it again and press start. It worked fine for me, not sure why that happened. But yes, I do have an update coming out soon, although I've been very busy lately and haven't had time to work on it.

Do you mean it will also count shakes? That's normal, as how it counts by detecting the accelerate/decelerate patterns of walking. It just happens that you can replicate it by shaking. And that's not really a problem of the app specifically, I'm just catching events from when the sensor thinks it detects a step and then displaying that.
Couldnt make it work.. Will try again later tho..

Same issues with the app picking up steps while driving as others have experienced. 20mile drive this morning, over 3000 steps.
Perhaps a simple logic could be if phone is charging then stop counting.
Other than that app seems pretty good, simple.
does it count miles/km , calories burned etc?

Features:
Welcome to VanirAOSP. Our mission is to deliver a clean optimized version of Android with subtly improved versions of the features you love to as many devices as possible. we've tried to incorporate and improve our features in a way that makes them more cohesive to improve the overall user experience while correcting any performance regressions and improving functionality..
What to expect:
- This is not a McCopy ROM. What goes into our build is well thought-out and not a bunch of stuff duck taped together because we could.
- maximum optimization. We do our research. We test hard. We build -fstrict -O3 globally and include a massive array of code optimizations and memory leak fixes that we write ourselves and eventually submit to AOSP or Linaro.
- originality in our source. We generate a lot of new commits being features or general code improvements. We are open source to share and improve the community but we also try to make sure we offer a unique experience.
- aesthetics.. hopefully in your opinion
General features:
stock mode - ability revert to stock AOSP code with the exception of a few custom features we chose to keep active
enhanced performance.. longer uptime with less slowdown
custom written CRON and init.d.
UI and graphics improvements
custom navbar, navring, and hardware key features
improved notification handling (active display & halo are in review also)
usability improvements like power reboot menu and sound
animation control
Improved Vanir keyboard

statusbar mods
clock & battery mods
lockscreen blur and other mods

Tethering
Nice to see a few ROMs for the T599! I am testing on the T599 T-Mobile variant.
Maybe there is an issue with Bluetooth.
Bluetooth tethering is not working.
But, WiFi tethering is working fine. :good:
Installed smoothly once I updated CWM. Will post on how it goes from here.
ps That's a bad ass boot image lol
Edit: Not a fan of how you put Vanir over the space bar, but I guess it doesn't matter because I'm not going to be using the stock keyboard anyway.
Edit2: Phone seemed to turn off randomly in the middle of the night, other than that it's working great so far.
Edit3: The music app combined with DSP Manager is pretty neat. If the music is distorting, the music app will pause to avoid damaging your system.
Edit4: Screen recording completely freezes the phone.

Screen recording doesn't work on these devices. I am removing the option that shows that to prevent device freezing.
I've redone the device tree and device is now codinalte. I made this change so that the assert checks won't allow flashing of older recoveries which would lead to device bootloops if used with the new j4fs and param setup.
Make sure you see the new instructions.
Changelog
-Used gcc 4.8 instead of 4.7 now that it's been tested.
-Removed all device asserts to prevent use of older recoveries.
-Disabled the use of screen record
-Switched device name to codinalte to cause less confusion with ace 2 users
-Upstream Vanir changes
-Philz cwm , cwm , and twrp now available for codinalte enabled builds only
Excellent ROM
Sent from my SGH-T599N using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
To everyone wondering this is the initial release of codinalte. I made this change to ensure everyone would be on the correct recovery and if you are on an older one it wouldn't let you install it . It would cause a bootloop due to the mismatch of j4fs and param module. This is the only way I can think of to ensure everyone is safe.

Here are some bugs I'd experienced recently with VanirAOSP ROM latest build.
1. Last night I had set my alarm clock to wake up this morning but the alarm didn't go off because I found my phone shutdown or powered off. Apparently the randomly shutdown in the middle of the night.
2. Yesterday I had two occasions where my Network was lost completely. I had to reboot the phone to get it back.
3. I noticed that when I receive a call or make a call the volume sounds like is half way down. I always have my volume set all the way up. When someone calls me I have to hit the volume down one or twice and then back up to fix the loudness of the call. Something is not right.
4. I noticed that when ever I play and embedded YouTube Video whether in a Browser of any kind or an RSS Reader it FCs the application before the video starts. All the time. Here is an example. I recorder this LogCat for you....https://www.dropbox.com/s/aaf7wgywrf66b7a/2014-03-17-14-15-24.txt I try playing a YouTube video on this website.. http://sploid.gizmodo.com/here-are-7-facts-about-superheroes-you-probably-didnt-1541767101 on the AOSP Browser and same thing happens with other Browsers and apps with YouTube Video embedded in them.

You could try this for low call fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2676518
Use the onlyincallfix.apk it should work to fix volume please confirm this.
The video problem is due to the patches we used not supporting a certain function required for the video playing. The phone randomly dying is something i know nothing about as of yet.
Does it work on the international version and does it have random reboots like in the latest CM11?

This is not for s3 mini. Please wait some time for me do a test build. I don't have the s3 mini but it's a similar device. If you want I can send you a pm of the test build. Please continue this conversation in a private message.
Phone died overnight even though on charger. I believe its the performance function. Installed voltage control. Still testing. Will post results.

I am looking into it. I haven't noticed why it did that yet. I can add back dvfs limit if you think it's the voltage. Basically you won't be able to use performance control it will stay at 0 for min and max.

The same thing happened to me, but while running Beanstalk. I have been running Vanir for the past few days and I have not seen any issues with FC or reboot yet. Battery life appears to be excellent, lasting 48 + hours with light use.
I am running the T-Mobile variant.

Resurrection Remix 5.8.2
Samsung Note 8.0 n5110
Beta 6 - RR-N-v5.8.2-20170307-n5110-Official.zip
You've been waiting for it and I must say have all been exceptionally patient.
I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on an n5110 ONLY build of 5.8.2.
I would like a few n5110 volunteers to help beta test for a week or so <NO ETA's>
Plan being to get the current dev build updated with the February security patches when they hit with a view to that being release # 1.
It would be advantageous if you've used RGIB's CM14.1 / LOS.
The current n5110 build is pretty good, about the same quality as Roberto's great CM14.1/LOS.
There are a few minor known issues that are shared with Roberto's rom. Oh and full OMS7 implemented to support Substratum. So themes yay! Plus Pixel launcher.
I'm a bit hesitant to suggest it as a 'daily driver' yet, but it's damn close. I definitely need the viewpoint of a few more eyes to call that one...
So PM me if you want included in the beta group. You would need to setup an AndroidFileHost account and follow buff99.
n5100 and n5120 users... I'm a bit more hesitant this time to make blind builds, so will take my time. If I can find a couple of users of each to work with me pre-testing any builds before release then I'll be a bit keener..
I definitely do not want to release builds with major broken functionality this time.
There will be no more 5.74 builds, it is officially dead.
Thanks and regards to @rgib !
5.8.2 changelog
Current features
Known issues so far / FAQs
During Gapps setup
- The storage option with three stacked drive icons has no explanation text. Inherited from LOS rom.
- Just after entering google account name when restoring apps from google, graphic for next screen button corrupts, also on next page. No other obvious problems. Inherited from LOS rom.
- At end of Gapps setup an error message about MTP host crash occurs. No other obvious problems. Inherited from LOS rom.
General use
- With a substratum theme applied (S.i.X), the root authorisation toast displays too small. This means tick box for always apply cannot be selected. You need to go to advanced Privacy Guard and force Allowed to always have root on your app. Needs tested on other themes. Could be theme issue or Substratum issue with our dpi. Works fine without a theme applied.
- Screen wipes can be a bit flickery sometimes. Inherited from LOS rom. Noticed first use of camera can be flickery but calms down..
- Sometimes you see a line of corruption on left of screen when scrolling if you look really hard.
- I have seen a couple of non-repeatable instances of black screen flashes. An obscure graphics issue or my tablet going bad, not sure (game Unkilled when screen flashes red due to collision, GPS status when calibrating compass).
- Camera pictures (as of beta 3) - camera app allows pictures to be taken with front; allows change to rear and take pictures. THEN swapping back to front will disconnect camera
- Camera video (as of beta 3) - just selecting video will cause camera app to disconnect.
- Open Camera does record video if needed, possibly other 3rd party apps.
- Occasional toast stating MTP has crashed, but file transfer vis MTP not affected. Inherited from LOS.
- USBOTG doesn't appear to work yet.
General FAQs and comments.
- Substratum needs to be installed from Playstore, in case you wonder why it's not there. It's an option.
- Adaway and Kernel Adiutor are no longer included in rom.
- Doze has been working well since Beta 2. It minimises battery usage when tablet is NOT being used.
- Lockscreen current display was fixed in beta 2.
- Netflix playback works from beta 3.
- Use GPS Status to properly test GPS and re-calibrate sensors if needed. Disable wifi and bluetooth scanning in rom settings for accurate results!
If you want to send me a full set of logs for a bug, I recommend using Syslog.

Nice ROM no problems so far everything works great
@Buff99 So far for day 1 of testing everything went smooth as far as flashing goes, I used pico gapps which flashed with no issues. As far as the usual apps I normally use so far are running good but I did notice I lag to the system itself I didn't change as far as any mods I'm using it as is, on a couple of games I notice some frame drops that I didn't have on 6.0.1 it's only day 1 so I wanna let it settle in before I give you a final report. As a whole, though this Rom is awesome other than those couple of issues the battery so far isn't bad at all as well. Great job @Buff99 thanks again for letting test this awesome Rom.
Also is there an option for folders on the pixel launcher? Or should I use Nova? I have Nova Prime. I also don't see an option to add extra desktop pages as well. I wanted to test as is, but I really like my Nova setup. Thanks again for advice or help you give us.

that's some great feedback Phil, thanks.
I wish I could find the link where I read it but Nougat, even more so than before, optimises more as it goes on-the-fly and apps will get quicker the more you use them.
Doze looks like it is working now on next version, so much better battery life when in standby, though I may have slightly broken the compass...

Pixel launcher doesn't have folders or more pages I'm afraid.
I always used to use nova, or more recently new adw2, but I am not missing them and am quite enjoying the basic-ness of pixel and the sliding up and down to open the drawer..
Oh and should have said replacing launcher and using nova is all good and part of normal usage patterns
cheers

Great, I set up Nova & so far I'm loving my tablet all over again lol! I like the cleanliness of Pixel too! Don't get me wrong, but there's something about Nova that I just have to use it lol! So far from what you've said about ver 2 can't wait that build is complete lol! I'm just grateful I have the opportunity to help out. Good night my friend.
Beta 2 is now in download folder RR-N-v5.8.1-20170208-n5110-Official.zip
- lockscreen charging current fixed (shows actual mAmps now)
- Doze seems to now get deep sleep whereas it didn't before
- Tried to fix compass, seems to be in general correct direction but too sensitive (not sure how this compares with LOS rom)
@Buff99 Just wanted to let you know I'll have a report for you in the morning really busy at work. Didn't want you to think I forgot lol! Thanks, bud. So far though really nice especially Doze!
Not that I really believe it....

Hi, I'd love to help with this beta too... I am however using LOS version and can report that the compass seems to work great there, I've tested using google maps, not sure if it's the best way...
would you mind if I join the beta? I've got n5110!
Thank you and keep up the good work!!:highfive::good:
So far so good, with exception of Netflix that is not working. Error 0013. Great job :good:

Fixed for beta 3. Which may escape the test facility later tonight.... LOS security patches have not been released yet.
Anyone tried built in camera? Video seemed to crash for me.
Really interested to hear whether video chat and 3rd party camera apps work OK?

My camera works and every camera app Ive used works .. Chainfire su works .. Facebook works .. Substatum themes work .. MX player works ..
ES File Explorer works .. SD maid works .. Adaway works .. Boeffla kernel and app works .. Nova launcher prime works.. TED, Showbox, Vines , Crackle and Youtube works ..

Encryption Unsuccessful.
Hey, @Buff99 I was just about to give you a full report when I went to use my tablet this morning, I had a full-screen warning about encryption unsuccessful & that if I wanted to use my tablet I had to perform a factory reset. So I just went into recovery to do a full wipe 3x & flash everything again. So in the middle of me trying to select the beta v2 my sd card was corrupt as well. SO I had to format the card put everything on it & tried to flash. After all that it still gave me the same warning again! So I had to Odin the original firmware did the whole root process with Odin, then I was able to go back to recovery & flash beta v2 & success lol! The things we go through to be up to date lol! So let me finish my tablet & as soon as I finish setting up my tablet I'll give you a full report bud ok?

Woah that's just bad luck on top of bad luck. I've not heard of encryption kicking in like that and it's a bit concerning.
So TWRP said the SD card was corrupt? Try formatting on a pc to see if it concurs.. A corrupt SD card might explain the encryption failing, but not why it started in the first place. I've seen corrupt SD cards fly under the radar. With me I usually hear mp3 files start to sound weird with clicks of digi-noise.
