Hi, i was searching barcode scanner for Galaxy Y in playstore.
I am confused to use and test all.
Please suggest me which is best scanner for my Galaxy Y.
Look our y doesn't have autofocus so there is no question of scanning barcodes properly..
Try redlaser or scan/barcode reader for qr codes .
Fawkes...
Download BARCODE SCANNER from store. Its best and free. Since we dont have auto focus feature. You need to focus it manually.

have u guys experience when using "Barcode Scanner" the lens of the camera make some weird noise/sound(s) more specifically when the barcode scanner use "auto-focus" function?
i wanna know if i'm the only one experiencing this so i can get my phone repaired or replaced =)
Everyone is experiencing that don't worry
That's because the lens needs to move in order to focus..
oh .., alright, just making sure lol thanks

It's not the beep when it reads the barcode, he's talking about when it's focusing to see the code. It sounds like a little click.
got it.
.....
No it's not normal
Hi, i got a generic android tablet momo8 and the front camera works like a mirror and I need it to work like a laptop does cos im working on a website that reads qr codes and it works fine in laptops but the android tablets wont read it correctly. I was wondering if maybe modifying the camera.apk it could work but i dont know much of java to do so and I need it kinda urgently to present it working to some potential client. If somebody could help ill be more than happy ...if someone know of an app that changes that mirror function it will be even better.
Thanks in avance.

Is it just on your tablet?
If it occurs on all tablets, you will not be able to do that by modifying the camera app as it is different for each device.
If it is a problem just on your tablet, ask in your device specific forum.

Yes its on every tablet with android. There should be a way to disable the mirror effect on the camera.. it cant happen that ipads work fine with it but android didnt think of reading qr with front cameras. There must be an app that changes that behavior of the cam

I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but the android camera app does not read QR (or any other) barcodes. You would have to download an app to do that such as ZXing team's Barcode Scanner.

Ive created a web application that can read qr codes, it works on laptops and the idea is to use it by loading the site from tablets, when it loads the application it works well, it opens the camera with no problem, however the front camera by default works in a mirror effect so the application cant load the qr. This doesnt happen when the tablet has a camera in the back but i need to use the front cam. This is why i need the camera with no mirror effect and working just like a latop does

OpenCV and the methods used there need to have the openCV manager to be installed as a separate app (there are workarounds for this) for the libraries.
Bottom line is, you have to create your own camera app for this, disturbing the idea of a mobile site. There are (more or less) easy ways to implement camera, you are not the first one to bump into this problem.

He could also flip the picture on the server.
What is the best barcode scanner app for use in a CM10 / 4.1.1 defy using the SOC (green lens) camera? The standard Zimg one does not have working autofocus, with any of it's settings.
Alternatively, as Zimg is open source, what would be required to get autofocus working on it?

Try QuickMark, on google play.
or QR Droid
Thanks
Quickmark has the same problem as ZBar - it doesn't focus.
Thanks for the suggestion of QR Droid. It works OK, but is rather slow on the 2D barcodes I want to scan.
I'm also using 'Barcode QR Scanner', which works reasonably well, but the interface is a pain. It's another ZBar repackage, but the focus works.
I noticed two issues with Czechop cm11 2014-02-04 build. Would gladly post them in ROM thread, but I have too few posts at this point to do that .
1. Once in a while a message saying something like "Phone restarted due to error in mobile networking" pops up. I have not seen the reboot itself. I will try to update with an exact message, but It will be probably in Polish.
2. ZXing Team's barcode scanner crashes after showing camera image for a split second. Image is stretched vertically, camera clicking noise can be heard. I still can make photos as usual, using photo app.
Also, seems that [Alt]+[Shift]+[letter] = alternative letter does not work for me (e.g. [Alt]+[Shift]+[a] = "ą", but I will need to look further into this.

That might be the barcode scanners fault. I'm on CM10.2 by EngleMars and after the last update of the barcode scanner it crashes in the same way as yours.
----Edit----
I debugged the barcode scanner and found the reason for the crashes. Here is the bug report I just submitted: https://github.com/zxing/zxing/issues/75
It isn't really a barcode scanner bug but more a bug somewhere in the system (don't know if android, CM or the people porting CM to our MS2 are at fault here).
----Edit2----
Alright - the guy behind barcode scanner won't fix it. So I build a working version myself.
You can get the apk here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bxvomoky9brbs02/Barcode Scanner.apk
To install it you first have to uninstall the version from Google Play because they are signed with different certificates.
If you don't trust my version you can review/build it from here: https://github.com/503e2/zxing
This is so nice, thank you very much. Now i finally can use threema right... greetings.
