A. Where the hell did you get the idea that modifying your build.prop would root your device? There is literally no explanation for that.
B. You need to flash a factory image for your device.
How were you able to edit your build.prop without rooting??

That's easy.. copy file to sdcard using es file explorer or such file browser.. now edit it..
The hard part is... how did he managed to put the edited build.prop file back without root..
I see conspiracy here..

you know how you can make the rom deodexed?
there wasnt a need for a new thread
i ll post the rooting method here again if this is main thread now
Easiest way to install the ROM achieve root and CWM recovery:
(make sure your battery is over 50%)
Download the firmware
extract the files and rename the tar.md5 files to .tar (remove the .md5 part)
Download Philz rooted kernel
Download Mobile Odin
copy all the files to your phone
Install mobile odin
open it and let it check for missing files
if u are using the free version u will need to download the flash kernel from chainfire's thread
In Mobile Odin:
go to Open file browse to the folder you copied files in and select the CODE_I9100XXLSJ file
go to Open file again and browse to CSC file do the same for the modem file
Now go to Open file and select Philz kernel
Select wipe data and dalvic cache to avoid running in any errors
this way mobile odin will flash this kernel rather than the stock non rooted kernel
Flash the firmware
your phone will reboot into mobile odin's special recovery and will flash the firmware
the phone will reboot some times just done worry leave it on table
After the phone boots pat your self on the back for doing a good job and thank Samsung for finally providing a good stock firmware since the gingerbread days

yes you can 180 is the most ive seen for now
I'm still having problems with network lock. No software can unlock my phone while on JB. EFS Pro can restore unlocked version of my /efs but after a restart it all changes back (different md5sums of nv_data.bin files) - everything works fine on 4.0.4
I'm using PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSJ-OXX-3.1 kernel.
When on 4.0.4 EFSPro says that efs file type is "/EFS" but when on JB: "EXT4" and different permissions(-rwx------ on JB vs -rwxr-xr-x on 4.0.4)
adb remount doesn work.
Recovery backup of JB takes 16.5MB(boot.img and recovery.img take 8MB each), cache, data and system have .dup extension(funny thing is, I can still restore it and have fully working JB rom, wtf)
I tried to manually copy the nv_data.bin and changed its permissions and owner/group, still nothing. Any ideas what can be causing it?

Pay $2.5 and you will get rid of the lock FOREVER. You can use the app as many times you want (however there shouldnt be a need).
Use GalaxSim: fast, easy, cheap and hassle free
Are we have chances to get ripple effect working? Or maybeb it will be in final release?

Looking for the old bootloader of N8000 (sboot.bin) I also found what appears to be a rarity for our N8000: the Pit file (Partition Information Table)
1) N8000 - N8013 - PIT file
I examined it with a exheditor and I also found in what block of memory is in the N8000, and that is a small portion in /dev/block/mmcblk0 and exactly after 34 sectors of 512 bytes each, with a length of 2396 bytes,
Don't seems instead, like other cell or samsung devices, there is a dev \ block dedicated.
So now not only we have Pit file but you can also save the file pit of your N8000 and also of 8013
I was able to verify that the pit file I found is exactly the same pit file of my N8000!
I made (based on other examples) a batch file (I tested, but try it for yourself) that save your PIT file in the sdcard automatically by ADB commands; need to have super user rights .
Here the bat file for N8000:View attachment N8000_SaveMyPitFile.zip
Here batch file for N8013 View attachment N8013_SaveMyPitFile.zip
This is the adb commands used:
shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/My-N8000.pit bs=1 skip=17408 count=2396
Here instead the file pit found in a Russian site: View attachment Note10_PIT.zip
I hope this will be usefull for those have bricked the N8000, even with the help of the bootloader file sboot.bin.
Here pit file of 8013 View attachment My-N8013.zip
2) N8020 - PIT file
For N8020 start address is the same of pit file of N8000, but has more lenght
This is the command dd for N8020
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/My-N8020.pit bs=1 skip=17408 count=2924
This the pit file of N8020 View attachment My-N8020.zip
This the bat file for extract Pit file View attachment N8020_SaveMyPitFile.zip
Edit:
Here can found firmware with every file for Odin (incluse old bootloader ) for bricked note (russian language) http://narod.ru/disk/63365822001.6b115b2c7e18ce43c43f68567fe4d915/GT-N8000_mgt.zip.html
Another thing: If you have last blocked samsung bootloader (sboot.bin), you must make downgrade of bootloader if you want that Triangle away reset count to 0 and not to 1; i have tested it!
Thanks for this (and the warning about the new bootloader and the flash counter!)
My N8000 was working normally on the latest official not rooted rom (N8000XXCMD1_N8000RBTCMD1_DBT) and all of a sudden on a normal restart it hang on the samsung screen & when i tried to put it in the downloading mode it gave me the following lines
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME:
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
i connected it to my laptop & the ODIN discovered it but when i tried to flash a rom it gave me an error related to the partition. Any idea how this can be solved please.
how can i use this 5 files rom to fix this problem...should i just flash all the files at once through ODIN (and should i include the bootloader)...i really need help here please

I would try this:
downloaded the file that the link at the end of my first post
You have all in that file: the file pit, modem, bootloader and csc ECCC ... you need to enter in odin each file in the right place; the language is Russian; check repartition so you save the file pit on your N8000
See if you can flash so...
If you have a locked bootloader,It may be that you are unable to flash it; in which case you will need to downgrade the booloader via adb
Ok?

You can do by yourself.
Use Framaroot for simple and quick root: with framaroot: you can root and unroot in one click; no new recovery need, your status is always official!
If you have recent firmware framaroot works with the last two options
With your N8010 rooted you can use the bat file in the first post of N8000 and send me
I can look it with an exheditor and tell you if is good and completed, so i can add in the first post your pit file of 8010!

You can use this batch file View attachment 1971542 that write via adb only theold bootloader sboot.bin (german bootloader)
These are the command via adb (thank to Odia xda-user) for all three file sboot.bin tz.img and param.bin
you can look in this post for S3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2081748
> adb push sboot.bin /sdcard/sboot.bin

# dd if=/sdcard/param.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
# rm /sdcard/sboot.bin
# rm /sdcard/tz.img
# rm /sdcard/param.bin
# reboot fota_bl
Can i save my .pit file on Galaxy S2 (GT-i9100G)?
Why this and are different?
N8000
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/My-N8000.pit bs=1 skip=17408 count=2396
N8020
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/My-N8020.pit bs=1 skip=17408 count=2924
Which command i should use?
Honestly, in our case I'd save the entirety of /dev/block/mmcblk0 somewhere, just-in-case. You can pick out the PIT later, but this way you're covered all ways.

Anyone got a PIT file for the 8013? I've looked everywhere. My tablet gets into Odin and nothing else. Won't flash any rom, keeps saying that there's no PIT partition. I even tried flashing a 8010 PIT file out of desperation, but it failed with the same message.
Help?

Yep, with Odin. And I tried all the usual steps. Made sure the port was USB2, installed a 32 bit version of windows, tried different ports, etc. At this point I think either I need the 8013 pit file, or the MMC might be completely screwed.
in serious need of the n8013 pit if anyone has it
Have Your Pit file on Terminal Emulator. Type this:
su -c 'dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/N80xx-out.pit bs=8 count=481 skip=2176'
This only to devices from 8 and 16GB. Not to 32 GB.

my friend @rcoacci asked me to help him with advice how to make flashable zip with baseband for his i8190L, based on my thread for i8190N...
so here it is:
*** if you don't have no Idea what i'm writing here about, than: DON'T DO THAT AT HOME! ;P
0) i'm doing this on Windows based computer, we need at least 7-zip and Notepad++
1) first i have to thank @tys0n because we're basing this on his zip (script). so ty thanks again!
2) we need mentioned script (zip) so download "GT-I8190_modem.bin-empty-update.zip" on the end of this thread
3) extract it to "Some Folder", now there u have: META-INF folder
4) go to SamMobile and search fot your device and download desired FW, in our example i1890L and i downloaded "Brasil(TIM) I8190LUBAMK1"
5) after file downloads, extract it with 7-zip, you get .md5 file, now right click on that file and open archive with 7-zip (confirm error about file end)
6) inside archive locate modem.bin this is our baseband, and extract that to "Some Folder"
7) goto "Some Folder" where u see: "META-INF" folder and modem.bin file
8) goto "META-INF\com\google\android" and open file "updater-script" with Notepad++
here you have:
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "golden" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "golden");
show_progress(0.100000, 0);
ui_print("GT-I8190 modem.bin update");
assert(package_extract_file("modem.bin", "/tmp/modem.bin"),
show_progress(0.100000, 50);
write_raw_image("/tmp/modem.bin", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p16"),
delete("/tmp/modem.bin"));
show_progress(0.100000, 100);
ui_print("zip by tys0n");
ui_print("Done");
now edit just lines with "ui_print..." to customize text that recovery shows on screen
for our example:
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "golden" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "golden");
show_progress(0.100000, 0);
ui_print("GT-I8190LUBAMK1 modem.bin update");
assert(package_extract_file("modem.bin", "/tmp/modem.bin"),
show_progress(0.100000, 50);
write_raw_image("/tmp/modem.bin", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p16"),
delete("/tmp/modem.bin"));
show_progress(0.100000, 100);
ui_print("zip by tys0n");
ui_print("modem extracted by mattiawhite");
ui_print("Done, reboot 2x if needed!");
first print is information about what version is flashing... so this is minimum to change
please leave tys0ns signature, replace mine with yours etc... (technically, script made by Tys0n, zip made by 7-zip is more accurate ;P)
ok - save that
9) close all, goto "Some Folder" select "META-INF" folder and modem.bin file, right click 7-zip -> add to ***.zip
10) open zip just to check if this 2 things are inside ("META-INF" folder and modem.bin file)
that's it! you're ready to flash!
now i attach here also result of our tutorial "GT-I8190LUBAMK1_modem_upd.zip"
you can flash it to your i8190L device only! i can not confrm its working as i have only N version, but all my other baseband zips are okay so i don't expect problems... if u brake something flash stock FW from Odin as PDA and you are ready to go... don't forget to make backups all the way...
if someone do flash to L device please report if all is fine... (remember to reboot once more if it says baseband: unknown...)
regards!

This topic is totally misleading.
You don´t make a flashable zip (coding), only change displayed lines in the script that are shown in the flashing screen.

yes and i never said i do code, i explicitly said i'm using tys0ns script, i just showed how to change text, everything is up there,
you thing it is wrong to put it inside "CODE" should i use "QUOTE instead"
i just wanted to show people how to add title and text nothing more, i leaved al creadits etc
please say what should i correct??
cous i only wanted to help after other asked me how i did it...
so i'm open for suggestions and sorry for misleading if so
Thanks @mattiawhite I did just that, and was waiting for an opportunity to release the zip on the forums. It worked without any problems for me. At least after the second reboot.
So for people who wants to do this:
1) BACKUP YOUR EFS FILE SYSTEM (BOTH TWRP AND CWM DO THAT);
2) Flash the zip.
3) IT MAY SHOW UNKNOW BASEBAND/IMEI ON FIRST BOOT. DON'T PANIC AND REBOOT AGAIN. It happened to me, so I know how it feels.
After the second reboot all was fine and is still fine. Phone calls, 3G, Data, etc, all working.
damn i should let u post our PM, now i wouldnt be charged for misleading...
anyhow, im glad its workin'

Actually I have the kernel compiled and testing it on my device from Maclaw's source for CM11, I only need to make a flasheable zip becuase what I did is moved and replaced boot.img and modules into the last Maclaw's built ( cm11.0_golden.maclaw.20140108.zip) and then flashed my device. But I am not sure how to make a flasheable zip only for kernel. Thanks for your help. I will keep looking for that over here

I didn't make too much changes really.
For now, I only added ROW scheduler, enable kernel size optimization, I compiled with linaro-4.7, I used LZO as compression method and I used Bootimgutils.zip to extract ramdisk from Maclaw and repack it.

my friend @rcoacci asked me to help him with advice how to make flashable zip with baseband for his i8190L, based on my thread for i8190N...
so here it is:
8) goto "META-INF\com\google\android" and open file "updater-script" with Notepad++
here you have:
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "golden" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "golden");
show_progress(0.100000, 0);
ui_print("GT-I8190 modem.bin update");
assert(package_extract_file("modem.bin", "/tmp/modem.bin"),
show_progress(0.100000, 50);
write_raw_image("/tmp/modem.bin", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p16"),
delete("/tmp/modem.bin"));
show_progress(0.100000, 100);
ui_print("zip by tys0n");
ui_print("Done");
now edit just lines with "ui_print..." to customize text that recovery shows on screen
for our example:
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "golden" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "golden");
show_progress(0.100000, 0);
ui_print("GT-I8190LUBAMK1 modem.bin update");
assert(package_extract_file("modem.bin", "/tmp/modem.bin"),
show_progress(0.100000, 50);
write_raw_image("/tmp/modem.bin", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p16"),
delete("/tmp/modem.bin"));
show_progress(0.100000, 100);
ui_print("zip by tys0n");
ui_print("modem extracted by mattiawhite");
ui_print("Done, reboot 2x if needed!");
first print is information about what version is flashing... so this is minimum to change
please leave tys0ns signature, replace mine with yours etc...
(remember to reboot once more if it says baseband: unknown...)
regards!

Its hard to say, I don't know anything of your device, where I can find its ROM (firmware) wherefrom we can extract baseband.
Do u know how partitions are organised?
Do you have custom recovery? Twrp or cwm, to be able to flash such zip??
You are on official ROM for that device, or custom?
If you are on official why don't u just upgrade to latest version, you will also get latest baseband??
PM me for more info...

- wait 30 sec and put out the battery.
- unplug the phone
- switch on the phone - should boot normally and work properly
- but your imei number i probably gone and your sn number is gone as well .
But do not worry we repair it !
RESTORING SN - SEIAL NUMBER :
- we need HxD Hex Editor http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/
- and need mmcblk0p11
- open mmcblk0p11 in HxD Hex Editor go to adres ( offset ) edit -> choose block -> 602000 - you should find RF000000000 - replace with your proper SN.
- go to recovery again - mounts and storage
mount system
mount extended sd card
- put USB cable to computer
- run adb commands :
adb shell
su
dd if=/external_sd/mmcblk0p11 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11
- wait 30 sec and put out the battery.
- Now your SN should be ok.
If your IMEI number is ok - finish

And no one can perform simply in adb or android console ?
su -c dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/My-N9005.pit bs=1 skip=17408 count=4244
But you know if you try use pit file you have to use rom as well at the same time ?
