Sorry if this information is available already.. BUT is there a way to convert a .py to a .apk from the android phone or from the computer I'm sure there is but I don't know how and yes...I've checked on google
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
How do you mean converting .py to .apk? An .apk file is just a zip compressed archive with a certain file structure containing the compiled sources and your raw resources.
I'm quite certain that there is no way to just convert a Python script to a functional Android application.
If you instead meant that you are looking for an interpreter which interprets Python for example then yes there is a library called Bean shell.
okay thank you I was looking for a way to convert it but I guess it's okay is there a way to treat it as a market app.. where if I gave them a link with a barcode image that they can download it like a regular apk and perhaps give the option to install sl4a.. And how do you increase text size of the interpreter?

I found out how to convert it... It's in the sl4a wiki pages and requires eclipse, quite a bit of steps but it's possible

Just wanted to add the link for the wiki as it's quite disorganized
https://code.google.com/p/android-scripting/wiki/SharingScripts#Scripts_as_APKs
so would this work with a project file made up using tkinter? ive got a script i want to build into an app but cant get kivy to work because of an issue with pygame and tkinter works fine
I am currently work on a program/script to manage ROMs, and I will be releasing it initially for the Kindle Fire for beta testing. This will be a full featured program with the following :
- Compile ROMs from source
- Extract & zip ROMs
- Decompile/Compile APK and JAR files in the ROM (selective or the whole ROM at once)
- Unpack / repack kernel
- ROMs and devices each will have their own config file to store information specific to each, such as comments and status
- Much more planned, such as the ability to browse and edit files, search and compare, etc
The big advantage to this, and what prompted me to write this in the first place, is the ability to have all of the necessary tools in one place and better keep track of your ROM projects. As I was working on modifying or porting ROMs, a big headache was having to go to so many places to do different things to a ROM, which leaves files scattered all over your hard drive.
This will help keep everything more organized and the goal is to cut out manually having to do so much when it comes to basic tasks, and eventually even the more advanced tasks involved.
The initial release will be for Linux, but a Windows version will follow (minus the Linux specific features such as compile from source).
I have made some great progress on this already, and am close to a beta release.
So, what I need help on is a name for this. Here is what I have so far as choices, I welcome suggestions. Those that reply with suggestions for a name will be the first to receive beta versions to try out
- DEVROID
- [ARM] Android Rom Master
That is all I have so far, so please throw some good options my way.

This was originally just for the KF but most of this stuff is generic enough to work on other devices, so I will be adding functionality for multiple devices. So the name shouldn't be specific to the KF. I'm just offering it for the KF first.
When it was going to be KF specific I had "Kindle Inferno" in mind....
Now that would be a good name for a ROM !

I think it's very difficult because they have different hardware, different providers (one from HTC, one from Amazon), we only can port Rom when we have full source code and similar driver and kernel to make sure it can work.
P/s: the kitchen you used don't support kindle so you can't make Rom used it. Need edit updater-script manually.

Hmm... quit a big file there. You don't think that the kernel messed up while building it(its happened to me before. I think it got up to 700mb.)
Edit: just realized that its a .exe file, dope!
Maybe you should try putting one of our many kernels into it and seeing how that goes. It relys heavily on our kernel.

Oversized phone ? without the phone function ?
For starters I think you need to size down the ROM. The KF has 537MB /system and I can only assume that if the compressed ROM is ~500MB, then uncompressed it is going to be much, much higher.
You may be able to change the partition sizes to accommodate the larger size ROM. I was playing with a Sense port yesterday, based on the HTC Flyer, and ran into this problem. I may try to repartition it and see how it goes just for kicks.

I'm pretty sure a 7-10" Android device with no 3g, no SMS, data, no incoming/outgoing calls, is considered a tablet, not an oversized phone

I decided to see why the port I was working on is causing TWRP to just loop and to do this I checked what DMESG had to say. It appears to be an Out of memory issue. My guess would be it is being caused when it attempts to load the update file.

ok, i commend the effort here but this just simply isnt going to work without TONS of code modifications and reverse engineering. just copying files isnt going to do it. there is a reason why you dont see htc sense ported non-htc phones often. its simply not worth the amount of work that has to be put in. not to mention you'll need an experienced kernel developer who knows his ****. i would suggest not wasting your time on this.
can someone explain why i have a folder 0 which i got here Computer\Nexus 7\Interner Speicher\0 ? all my former files are there. but folder Computer\Nexus 7\Interner Speicher contains also a lot of data from apps.
i think i have this folder since pa 3.0
any clues? what is the root folder now? because it used to be the folder where now everything moved to folder 0?!
thanks
Old news that could have been unearthed with a quick search. It has nothing to do with PA and everything to do with Android. 4.2. Google included multi-user support for tablets. As the primary user, your individual files are in data/media/0.

Hi there,
Today I set up my machine to start building omni Rom for my Nexus 7 gsm (tilapia)
I followed the guide from the wiki for the Nexus 4 and changed it to suit the tilapia.
After I finished I got some errors about grouper Commons files missing so I guessed that the tilapia builds rely on the grouper(Nexus 7 wifi) and executed breakfast for grouper, too.
Afterwards the build started, however it gave me an error /warning to begin with
"device/asus/tilapia/omni.Dependencies file not found"
As mentioned before, the build started nevertheless.
Will this render my build useless or is it one of the warnings that might occur without harm?
If so, How can I fix it?

I don't have an answer for that or Error 9, but if you get a bizarre error about the nVidia Keymaster, go into the Keymaster.cpp file, find the offending file, and add "utils/" where it references it. Its UniqueP.h that was tripping up my Grouper buidls (before I ran out of hard drive space). Just a heads up, since it seems to be a Tegra binary issue.

Does anyone know how much ram is needed to successfully build 4.4? I still have left about 400mb I can assign to the virtual box. Is it possible to set up swap for virtual Ubuntu installations or is there a way to reduce the resources needed by Ubuntu itself?

Story runs thus.
I run a custom desktop with a 2nd generation Intel i7 at 3.06GHz (quad-core, Hyperthreading), 12GB triple-channel XMP RAM, and a good graphics card. 1.5TB hard drive. I have WIndows 7 on that. I procured, in exchange for beer to an adult of legal age, a 80GB, 7200RPM notebook HDD which I put Linux on, and build on that. I'm replacing that 80GB drive with a new 3.5" 1TB drive. 64MB of cache. I plan to give it a ccache of around 50GB. Since I boot into a full Linux installation, I get to use the full power of that CPU and RAM, and boy does compilling Android kick that CPU's ass.
well my build core failed (no make file)
I added 16Gb swap and run over night and see what happens
I'm not done with this yet
Success!
after adding a 16gb swap partition the build finally finished
I wonder if I should share it with the community after verifying that it doesn't break devices.
I bet there are many people that would like to try the multi-window feature.
Do you think think the Omni "team" would be fine with me sharing my build?

It thought that it shouldn't be much, since they are almost the same, but the tilapia folder in my outs folder is huge and if it's all gonna be copied into a separate grouper folder it's gonna be too much

Hey, do you have an idea how much additional hard drive space it's gonna take to build for grouper if i am already building for tilapia?

do you clear before you build again? make clobber will clean up your "out" with out killing your build times to bad as far as i can tell. All you need to do is get the proprietary blobs for the grouper from either CM or Google and let them place themselves in the Vendor/asus/ directory and then you can make breakfast grouper to pull down the needed repos. my grouper specific stuff is only ~70 MB so it wont be to bad for your Hard drive i don't think. so you'd have to pull down some other radio stuff extra is about all.
I do think doing the builds together will double the size of the output as now you will have an OUT/product/Grouper as well as a OUT/product/Tiliapia... but i'm just making assumptions
If anything you could build them one at a time.
I'm sure i'll be corrected by one of the real dev's if i'm wrong...
EDIT: did some digging in to all the directories and it looks like mose of the stuff is already there for tiliapia in my repo so you should have the grouper stuff too.... i think.. lol
