Opera - tiny controls etc - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I must be missing something: My controls on Opera are TINY as is the menu. I searched but could not find anything on this.
Does this not bother anyone else or is there an easy way to fix this?
Thanks

Not much you can do. Opera has had an issue with LCD density for a long time but never fixed it. I used Opera Mobile back when I had Gingerbread but since then I think its outdated. I prefer Chrome, AOSP stock, and Firefox Beta over Opera.

I dumped Opera Mobile when it dumped Flash on JB and moved to Ocean.

Thanks, I guess I'll go with Firefox instead. Has flash too when I need it!

Internet Explorer scrolls extremely slowly with new ROM

I put the new HTC ROM on my Mogul, and now every time I use Internet Explorer, I encounter a huge delay when scrolling pages. It's especially bad on long pages, and gets progressively worse as I move down the page. By the end of a long page, there's a delay of a second or more between tapping the down button, and seeing the page scroll. The slider bar has a huge delay as well.
I searched for other users with this problem, but couldn't find anything. Any ideas how to fix this? The GPS features are great, but not at the expense of quality web browsing.
Thanks.
I noticed that too.
Nothing running in the background and with approx 18MB free
qu1nn
Same here- gps is not worth this problem- There has to be more than a few users with this same issue.
Another IE problem here, basically unbearable.
I tried to reflash back to 2.17 got an error twice. Mybe someone here with some ppc brains can fix this- I have no clue on this.. if it had a set of pistons in it I would have it licked.
no problem here, any of you guys running touchflo?
no touchflow- stock rom with no new programs. I have reflashed it 3 times.
I see there is more folks over on the geeks site with the same problem.
Same problem here. It is pretty unresponsive.
people still use pie? try using opera mini, or anything else.
use netfront or opera
Not for me
I'm on stock 3.35 and no problem here, before or after installing Pieplus.
I had the same problem. However, I couldn't stand the slowness of the ROM overall, so I switched back to No2Chem's 6.1 ROM and am loving the speed again! New radio, updated ROM, no sluggishness with PIE.

Hey no problem, Im running 3.0.1 and it helped me quite a bit. Even the stock rom lagged on "Large" Pages.
Opera Mini works great on my Mogul...Way faster than IE...

IE 6?

Has anybody tried this on there Titan yet?
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/6on6
I've used IE6 from no2chem's NueROM-M 201 and it rocks! You can find download here for that ROM. I've heard not-so-good things about using IE6 before I actually used it, and I have to say it probably is one of those that you either love or hate. I happen to love it. New download manager, better zoom support, JS, CSS, Flash, switch between Desktop and Mobile code view. I have to say - as a web developer and WinMo user for the better part of two years - do everything you can to get this application. It is awesome!
Jacob,
Glad to hear that you liked the new IE6, I can't wait to try it.
I am sure someone will be looking for it, so sere's a direct link to the standalone IE6 .cab: HERE.
Thanks in advance,
Matt!
Does the cab, IE6, replace IE Mobile? How is performance on the titan, with its limited memory, is IE6 actually usable or is it like Opera 9 (Out of memory errors)?
I'm on the NueROM as well and I found it to be very slow - especially when used to browse forums.

thanks, can you tell us where is cab from?
Unable to find app
I installed the cab, it asked to restart my phone, I did so and now I am unable to find any changes. I've repeated this process twice. The first time I installed to main memory with no joy. The second I installed to the memory card and was unable to locate any changes at all in any folders. I tried launching pIE to see if it was just a overall replacment also to no avail. I could use some help if I've don'e something incorrect.
Yeah I see no changes. Is this really the right cab? Hopfully if I uninstall it, it won't delete my mobile IE
Since I backed up everything, Im very daring.
I've tested this uninstall for you and it doesn't remove pIE
Im going to take apart the cab and see whats in it.
**edit**
I don't know what Im looking for to be honest. It went quicker to view it than I thought.
Thanks I appreciate it. I would like to know where the thread of that attachment came from.
Hmm. The more I use the IE Mobile and read about it, the more it seems to be missing. I have the browser set to mobile view, yet it stays in full desktop style. Had this problem in NueROM and now in GaMedic's ROM. Was under the impression it doesn't work - now I wonder if it just isn't working on my Mogul for some reason.
EDIT - Oops. I need to clarify - the mobile/desktop toggle works in that it disguises my mobile when I goto sites that auto-detect. I really miss the One-Column style browsing. Any way to bring that back?
Its really slow and the web pages dont fit the screen so I quickly removed it

Issue using Opera Mobile on www.studivz.net

hey guys, don not know, whether the problem may cause on other pages... but there is an issue with the website studivz.net.
I wrote more than three times to the sony ericsson-support...but they answered me to make a hard-reset and use opera mobile instead of internet explorer.
I thought they're just kidding me...because I wrote them that there are few people having the same problem USING OPERA on studivz.net...
ohere you may see the problem with a black col that becomes bigger and bigger each time I press any link on the page...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cKCJ25a6zE
perhaps anybodyy of you know how to work around...
got the same problem on meinvz and other pages aswell.
just keep in mind ... the opera version u are using is still BETA. it has plenty of bugs (hardcoded text block formatting f.e.)
well ... we'll see what future versions and browser bring here.
I'm trying to contact opera...but there seems to be no support-mailaddress available?!
I sent the link to the German Sony Ericsson-support as well...hope they'll answer seriously...
and I noticet the support-team of studiVZ.

Does it need flash or anything? I can't see anything using the dev tools
Have you tried netfront browser?
the 3.5 "concept version" is one of my favourites, not to everyones taste but might be worth a try.
http://www.access-company.com/products/mobile_solutions/netfrontmobile/browser/35_wm_tp.html
Obviously leaving a message on the opera forums would be a good thing as well.
I found a support-mail-contactmailer on the webpage of opera and informed them about this issue. sent the link to this video as well.
perhaps I'll give the netFront a try...but I'd more like to use the opera...
the page doesn't use flash...but ajax. for opening message-windows (in the video you may see, it doesn't work with opera...)
well, I installed the new official rom and this issue has gone.
works find now. but ajax-messages won't open at all.
is there anything I can do?
and I hate that you have to zoom in before you are able to click a link/input-field in the new build of opera.
hope they make this "feature" checkable per box in the settings.
or anybody may find out, what to change in the registry.
another fine thing would be a tutorial that describes how to set opera opening tabs in the background instead of making new tabs active.
especially on ebay this is bugging me.
and at last I think it would be great to set the identity of opera as desktop-browser. I hate google-, gmx-, or especially ebay-mobile... if I could choose the identity of opera all would be fine

A little pinch gesture for a zooming in a LOT?

Basically, I want to do a smaller pinch-to-zoom gesture in order to zoom in a lot! I don't want to stretch my fingers across the entire 4.3 screen just to zoom in only 40% of the way. I want to get up to 100% using a smaller gesture.
Is there something that I do not know in the registry or an app that can allow this to work?
Can anyone provide me their experience with a smaller gesture, but more zoomed in?
Rebump again.
again.........
Seems like no one seems to know or already know the answer. Maybe that's why no one is answering?
Rebump. Getting Hidden...
Wow. Anyone?
Would like to know this myself, not sure why there are no replies, maybe it is not possible?

This is great, but it doesn't work in opera, the place where I use a lot of pinch to zoom. Any other help?

REbump. if anyone can help.

Using Search is always good.

you didnt think i saw that thread about 5 million times now? i use it all the time btw, and if you did read my first post, what i am looking for is not there. thanks for helping, but I am still searching..
anyone?
Maybe you need to specify what version of Opera you are using. I know that the normal reg edits don't work for Opera 10.
im using opera 9.7
rebuimp.n hghygb
sdfxngre bump.s soluviton
maybe its just not possible

Opera 9.7

I'm not sure if this has been already. covered... but i don't know exactly what to call it... but when i browse using opera.. and use eitherpinch to zoom or the double tap... the page on the screen starts shaking and moving.... like it jumps from one part of the page to another... has there been any fixes or tweaks to at least reduce it? and also do you guys even know what I'm talking about... thanks
hmm... can someone at least tell me the proper name for what i am experiencing so that i can research it myself?
let me answer your question. this problem is caused by text reflow. Period. thats it. that is the answer. you try to zoom on something, you get there, but then the screen jumps all the way to the left for some reason/ yeah. that is reflow at work. and it sucks.
i tried to find a way to disable it for many many days. re-bumping my thread again and again.
there is a way to disable reflow, but it comes at the cost of ugly webpages. usually text are aligned in a way that is not natural.
Search my threads. I am still trying to find a way, but I hoped i answered your question.
let me know if you find something better. =)
You need to download the newest build of Opera 9.7 from this forum. I have build 3600, and it is very smooth. Pinch-to-zoom works properly, text reflow doesnt cause the web page to jump all over the place either.
The update is just an exe file that you overwrite in the Windows directory.
try this. Worked wonders for me
I'm using the 3600 build as well, it's still not perfect in regards to the jumping but it is massively improved.

I have this installed as well. Its is a conbination of registry hacks to improve the smoothness of Opera. But the main tweak is to change the virtual screen size to 1024 pixels wide. Although you would need to change it to 1020 pixels to ensure that double-tap continues to work in portrait view.
The cab previously posted comes from this thread and page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627441&page=6
Here is another link for Opera Smooth tweaks, which I also installed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=626157
Maybe a combination of the above and build 3600 will change your opinion...
