[Q] CM10 Quarx Phone Number Format - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm on Quarx CM10 (2012.09.24) and I have a little problem with how the device displays the phone numbers. They are formated like xx xxxx-xxxx.
The problem is that I'm Brazilian, and my phone number format is xx xxxxx-xxxx (nine numbers), however I prefer the simple xxxxxxxxx format (no spaces nor hyphens).
Looking in the settings I didn't found anything related to this.
There is any way to change this? Some xml code to edit? I'm not an expert user, but I can decompile and recompile some apks if it's necessary.
Thanks for any help.

Read and write SIM records

I am trying to access and Modify SIM content from the Operating System. I am working with a dual line twin card and want to change between one line and other by code.
I am using SIM Manager functions (SimGetRecordInfo, SimReadRecord and SimWriteRecord).
Does anybody know where I can find the structure which contains the two imsi data? I think it is not on the EF_IMSI (6F07), isn't it?
I have been able to read the EF_SPN (6F46), which contains the words Work or Home.
I have been able to read the EF_IMSI (6F07), which contains in Hexadecimal the current IMSI.
I have not been able to read the EF_MSISDN (6F40). Does any body know how can I do it?
I have also tried to write on these records (so that the current line will be changed) but I have got a "Security Failure". Have I got permission to modify this kind of records?
Thanks in advance

[Q] Usb mounting

Hi all,
I'm currently porting a desire rom to the HD2 and got everything working except USB mounting which only works the first time the rom is booted.
I've searched here on XDA, but as many cooks/rom-builders had exactly the same problem in the past I did not find an answer how they exactly solved this issue.
If anyone can share knowledge on this I would be thankful.
Never mind...found it out myself
Could you let us know what you did to fix it. That would be appreciated. I believe javascript needs to be editied but not sure on process
Sure,
You are right and found it out the hard way by (binary) comparing all the files...
services.jar needs to be decompiled and in there you will find a folder containing 8 files with usb settings.
Copy these 4 files over from a working build and recompile a new services.jar :
UsbService$1.smali
UsbService$2.smali
UsbService$3.smali
UsbService.smali
Have fun !

[Q] azerty keybaord

Hi all, have just update my milestone to the cm71-111105.0200-NIGHTLY-Milestone2-ICS-v1.0 version
All so far seems Ok, wife, phone, mails etc I have changed the settings to french as I live in France, the onscreen keyboard works fine BUT the physical keyboard is still typing in qwerty rather than azerty
so any help would be nice
thanks
Use ES File explorer for instance and grant root privilegies - since you need to use it on root FS and follow this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19108106&postcount=1889
tl;dr: in /system/scriptbox is keypad switching script
Thanks for the info, downloaded the es explorer and managed to grant it root access, but cant 'see' the local files I only can see whats on the SD card or Lan for instance what have I missed ?
You have to grant root access in the settings of ES file manager and then you have to change home directory in the settings of ES from "/sdcard/" to "/" and then you'll see root directory of your phone. Then simply go to /system/scriptbox and there should be it. (I have older version of CM, so I can change my layout in the settings menu and so I don't have scriptbox folder).
I changed to file manager and gave it root access, its clearer to use use than ES, I can get into the /system file but the there is no no /scriptbox in it
Since my firstpost I changed to cm7-111108-2350-NIGHTLY-Milestone2.zip
so maybe thats why

Checkout the new version, there's azerty keyboard as well (cyanogenmod settings -> input -> keyboard char map)
Hi
thats is just great, installed cm7-111111-2028-NIGHTLY-Milestone2, switched to English to find the input section, changed it to AZERTY and then switched back to French. For info you need to reboot for the keyboard changes to be taken into account, many thnaks for this
Now I still have the problem of loosing the 'reseau', (I get the message no service available) then after awhile it commes back, in another post someone says that I may need to change the baseband, but am a little lost on this problem
minty95: If you're using CM7 from Endless7, then it is really easy. There should be application named Milestone 2 Toolbox.. In this app, there is option "Baseband Switching Tools", which installs english baseband switcher. Then just use second option (Europe 2.2.2) and it should work ok. (you could also try first option, if you have problem with second option)
And you can also see actual baseband in this app.
Thanks I'm not using this rom but this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338183
I'm downloading the one from Endless7 and will flash and try it, to see as in the one I'm running I doesn't have the milestone toolkit, but does have a Azerty keyboard, so I wuill test it and get back
I think, it should be possible to extract milestone toolkit apk from endless7's CM7... Also, you can download it separately from his topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239778 - in the first post, there is attachment named "ToolBox+Baseband+others.rar" - this is what you need - there is milestone 2 toolkit apk, which you can simply install to any rom
I downloaded the Endless7 rom and installed it
The program for the baseband is all in chinese (I had already found and installed it on the other ROM) but as it's all in chinese I have no idea what to choose
Have already switched back to the other ROM, shown in my last post as it gives me the possibilty to change the keyboard to azerty and which Endless7 does not
So I'm just stuck with this baseband program in chinese
I have Endless7's ROM and I don't have it in chinese, I have english version.
In the attachment of this message I included screenshot of my version, apk of my baseband switcher and apk of my Milestone2ToolBox (which gave me this baseband version)...
Hope it helps somehow.
I think that you just saved my life
Have installed your download and it is in English, phew, testing now,
many thanks
Update : After a afternoon of using the first option (2.2) on the basedband APK 1.5.4 and having had no loss what so ever, am now trying the second option europe 2.2.2
I know have a phone that is at least twice as fast as last week
again many thanks

[Q] flashing script on MIUI

Kinda sucks for a first post but I had to do it someday. Been browsing this place for more than a year.
I'm on a Canadian carrier (Videotron) and many of you know that with some phones, like the MT4G (Panache) un less you use a sense ROM, you will have issues with the VM notification (MIUI and some others). The bug is simple if you look at the system info, the field ''my phone number'' is unknown instead of displaying your actual number. On the CM7 builds the issue is the same but it can be fixed manually. But some ROMS like MIUI, you are unable to get this damn thing to work.
I found a fix that I would love to try but unfortunately, I have no clue how to flash it. I went trough so many treads and pages and never read anything on how to fix it. there are tons on unanswered question.
The big question is : how can I flash this on MIUI? http:..review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,11318
It's a script to *fix* the VM notification. I tried installing the zip trough recovery but it failed. I tried running the java script trough ''Script Manager'' but it fails (Syntax error). Both attempts are from the SD card.
This is no script. This is a Java source file fix, which requires recompilation of telephony service, which lies inside the framework - so the whole framework needs to be recompiled.
You have 2 ways of achieving it:
1) Recompile MIUI source code.
2) Decompile MIUI framework, convert the fix code into smali format and merge into decompiled framework, recompile the framework.
ouch. Sounds prety much out of my league for now. Got a lot of reading to do before I'm able to do that lol.
You could open a bug to MIUI team, asking them to integrate support, and point them to CM git that you posted. I believe they'll integrate in sooner or later.
Thnx for the advice. I will give it a shot

[Q] No phone-network after ICS CM9

Hi,
I've used CM7 and CM9 before with no major problem. But probably did something wrong because after flashing couple of ICS ROMs my phone (Defy-red lens) became unusable with 2 problems:
- no mobile network connection (no phone-calls, no SMS, no 2/3G)
(Wifi and Bluetooth are OK)
- it does not save the setup, each boot is a new phone with new configuration setup.
I've tried different ROMs (CM9, Quarx, Skanky, etc) with different Kernels (7 & 9), but nothing seems to change this behavior.
The phone also doesn't recognize the IMEI and can't search of operators. I've attached some screeshots.
I was wondering if someone else could share their experience with me or, somehow try to help me. I'm willing to try out things....
Cheers.
You tried changing your baseband??
Sent from my Defy+ using Tapatalk 2
Baseband is not initialized/installed. In the first pic, it shows the baseband as 'unknown'. Select proper baseband matching your country from Baseband Switcher (settings -> Advanced->Baseband Switcher) and reboot your phone.

Baseband is by default on Europe > Central Europe > 3.4x 900/2100 MHz which is not right for me. Should be America > Brasil > TIM 3.4.2-107-9 850/2100 Mhz.
The problem is, as I mentioned, that the phone does not save any settings. After the reboot the Baseband comes back to the default setting.
I already did the wipe factory/reset, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache many times before/after flashing a ROM (and event deleted the dalvik cache folder via terminal emulator since it wasn't asking for confirmation when deleting via cwm) but didn't really change anything...
Any idea what's leading to the settings not being saved?
Thank you for helping.
PS: I didn't play with partitions, but as I've read in this post, of a similar problem, that this might be the case, I'll post the screenshot of the command df just in case...

Though the problem seems quite different but it might be your baseband switcher..
try BBs_v4
It might work.

Thanks. I was able to change the baseband with this app (and somehow keep this setting after a reboot - see screenshots), but under "About phone" still shows as Baseband version Unknown. And I still have no network signal...
Meanwhile... the matter with partitions and settings lost after reboot:
I know a litte of Linux, but I don't understand Android's structure or how it deals with partitions, but I might have found something:
In Bootmenu Recovery > Advanced > Show Log reads:

W: failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p25 (Invalid argument)
As I see that in the system there are others blocks with similar names (screenshots in post #4), I was wondering if this might be related to the problem I'm dealing with (loosing settings after reboot).
I see some people had problems with this block/partition, for instance in this post - Issue with /dev/block/mmcblk1p25, but I couldn't figure out how they fixed.
Any help is much appreciated.
Hi fbugnon,
I have the same problem on my Defy. I've tried to use 2 differents builds from wdscript.fr (120613 and 120610), installed baseband switcher, but the problem is the same as yours.
Everytime the phone restarts, it resets all settings.
I'm trying to use a build from quarx (quarx2k.ru, build 120305) now, let's see if that helps.
I'll keep you updated.
Hi tiagomelo,
I've tried many differents ROMs but no one was able to change this behavior. I'm not sure, but I believe the problem is related to the partition error mentioned on my last post -- do you also have the same problem?
I was forced, eventually, to do a full SBF with Tim's original system so that I could use my phone and now I'm using CM 7.2 rc3.... Waiting for ICS to solve the calendar sync bug which is crucial for my work and then I'm back on.
Wish you good luck! And please keep us posted, I would like to know where this will lead you to.
Cheers

What ROM are you using? Your build version. And is the problem exactly as described in OP, then I see that its been resolved.
A bit same like yours
Guys i dont know if if i can help you over here but i was some issues with the call/data/3g ... for me as soon as i tried using them they froze completely, not the phone but the signals .. its was related to my baseband settings and stuff,
so i found a solution for this ...
go into recovery cpu settings,
Status: enable
Enable all modules
Scaling: Conservative
dont forget to save at bottom and reboot
if these settings worked for you then it should be alright
This is just a suggestion to the issue .. u can try it .. I don't know if it is %100...
for me it works

That's a different thing. The reason for your freeze would be something with your CPU/chipset.
Good to see someone who is familiar with this issue of mine ..
so would u b able to tell me why i was having this problem with the chipset/cpu related to calls and data download ...
i know its not the right thread but i tried other thread but no answers yet
i came across this solution after a lot of seaching .. trial n error
u dont know what i've been through ... but using this settings doesnt give me good downloading speed in google play though

Hi Ajitnegi,
As mentioned before, the only solution I could find to this problem was restoring the orignal ROM (Motorola's) by doing what they call a full SBF (you can read a bit about sbf in here or in posts on this forum).
Sorry not being able to help any further. Good luck.
Cheers.
Same problem | No network connection
Hi
I am also facing the same problem, no network connection. After going through this post where you had asked to change the baseband settings to the country specific, I did change it. Unfortunately, even after changing the baseband settings, after reboot it changes to default value (.i.e. Central Europe).
While going through this forum, I could not find any final settings provided by the developer, did you get any ? If so, can you point out to it.
Thanks,
Nash

Hi Ajitnegi
I don't know if this is the only way to fix it, but In order to recover MY phone I had to flash a full SBF, which is -- as I understand -- basically a Motorola Recovery that works pretty much like a factory reset. Search the forum and I'm sure you'll find someone explaining how to do it.
Or if you rather take some time to better understand what's going on with your phone before you start flashing it, you might want to take a look at this excellent "All-in-one Defy Beginner's Guide".
Cheers
i have the same issue, i have No Network and No Wifi
after flashing CM9 on my SGW from stock ROM
Help please .
