I was driving home and noticed that my phone showed it was still connected to wifi at office.
Had to toggle wifi off/on to get connected to 3g
Has anyone experienced this?

i got my 3g nexus 7 a week ago and its been fantastic. thee is, however, a minor annoyance that im curious if anyone else has experienced
i usually cut the mobile data off when using it on wifi, and ive noticed after long periods of inactivity, the mobile data will turn itself back on.
is this a known issue? im running completely stock at this point.
Just put it on airplane mode than turn on WiFi.... That way you're sure that mobile connectivity is disabled.

I do the same thing. You'll see the WiFi icon and the airplane icon both on the status bar. Without airplane mode, the cellular modem will still be on and connected to the cellular network all the time. If you have WiFi available, you're wasting battery power on the unused cellular connection. Also if the WiFi turns off to conserve power, it may start using the cellular data. That is not good if you have a limited data plan.
I've posted a question before asking if anyone knew how to create a widget to toggle the cellular radio on and off and received no response.
I generally do use airplane mode when on WiFi, but it was one of those little quirks I noticed and was wondering if it was happening to anyone else
As for a toggle widget for the 3g, I use power toggles. It seems to work, but I've wondered I'd that is actually the culprit. I could get rid of it and see, but it's such a minor issue ATM

Has anyone tried connecting the nexus 4 as a wifi hotspot? My phone can load webpages like google, facebook, XDA really fast. But when I have my laptop connected through portable hotspot I can't even get google.com to open up. Sometimes it does but very very slowly, is this normal for wifi hotspots or is it just something with my connection settings?
My Wi-Fi Hotspot from Nexus 4 works perfectly when I connect my Nexus 7, Playbook, and Galaxy Nexus.
WiFi hot spot worked for me also

Hmm i tried it with my playbook too, it works but same issue its much slower then what the phone can accomplish!
It's normal for it to be slower (just consider that all requests need to be routed from your laptop, to your phone via WiFi, then to the cell service) but it certainly should be working without issue. Are you using the built-in WiFi hotspot feature? And what carrier?
Hi,
I've had my N4 since a couple of days and have encountered some issues when using the phone on Wifi. I use connectify as a virtual wifi router on my laptop. My phone keeps loosing the data stream from time to time even though the Wifi symbol remain active. I either have to disable/enable the Wifi or restart connectify to get the data stream to work. Any suggestions how to fix this ?
It could be android's fault. I have the same problem on my Galaxy 3. The phone even loses the signal if I'm sitting in front of the router. It's noticeable if the icon shows sending data and occasionally receiving data, but not at the same time.
I have two other PCs in the same room and they don't have this problem so the router is probably fine.
My nexus 4 has great WiFi receptions. I was using the iphone 5 last week and i had issues connecting yo my home WiFi, i think because of some WPA or wep security, the iPhone would connect 2 times out of 10 when i turn on WiFi. It always connects with my nexus 4.

Hi all,
Been using my GT-i9505 for a while now completely fine. Used WiFi fine etc. However I've moved back to uni where I don't get WiFi and so I use connectify via my laptop and a wired connection to transmit a WiFi signal. I've used this for a few months perfectly fine for my iPhone and tablet (transformer infinity).
The issue that arises is that my gs4 connects fine and stats connected no issues. The data arrows flash orange and green but the data seems to stop working.
Best example is whatsapp which will not send messages or at best has a huge delay.
I rectified this by turning off Wi-Fi power save which fixed the issue but is bit really a fix SD this literally ate battery like nothing else. So wondered if there is s fix or anything I can do phone or computer side to fix this?

Just wondering if anybody else is having this issue. Only thing I've noticed is that it stays connected longer while plugged in to the charger that comes with the phone.
When im over home or at a friends house or driving I noticed the same that it connects shortly then drops. When connected i have full signal bars too.
Could it be a power issue. ..I do not have the power saving features turned on but still could something be keeping the 4g connection from staying active even when not in use???

No the LTE signal is probably faint so it connect for a second and then disconnects. And the signal bars are for voice coverage not LTE.
