Hi all, just a quick question relating to the 4.2.1 update. I still haven't received the update on my completely stock nexus 4. I'm in the UK but I am aware of others in the UK too who have already got the update. Just wondered if there is any reason for this? I know I can update manually but would rather get the update OTA
Thanks in advance

US. Nothing as well. Since this update doesn't really adds to anything important for me so I'm not upset.
I live in the United States and haven't gotten it either. This is usually a slow rollout process regardless. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Yeah I'm not too bothered, just intrigued whether there is something wrong with my device or some sort of setting different? If it was a big update I would be a bit annoyed by now!

I was on the same boat as you all.
In order to get the update go to app settings and clear data for "Google Services Framework", and try to find update again.
Worked for me.
That worked thank you, just need to wait to connect to WiFi now!

That should help you out, if you haven't seen it already. I may or may not hold off on the OTA because it may help with the Droid X rooting efforts. Chances are I'll get it though :-/
This is my first android phone so I'm just wondering...what's the procedure for an OTA update? Will the Droid X automatically prompt us when it becomes available or is there a manual action required?

automatic, so yes something will prompt you and if you don't click for it yourself in 3 minutes is the time frame i believe, it will automatically just do it. it will restart your phone after it downloads and then install and start up again.

Has anyone gotten this OTA update yet? I have run the AT&T Software Update a few times today and it just gets stuck at "Checking for new software available now" indefinitely. I know this used to just time out before the froyo update was live.
I haven't gotten the update yet
I know over in the inspire thread about this they've said it's a silent update so try restarting your phone and check under applications in settings.

My Aria is rooted so no need on that one. But, my captivate unrooted now has amazon appstore. Seems like it is a silent update just reboot and try it might work. Captivate did not show the unknown sources option but i tried to install amazon appstore and it installed fine.
FYI
Ugh. Nothing yet.
I still haven't got the update. Hopefully it comes soon. If not, I still have the AC Sideload program

Please tell me if this update can be applied only for AT&T users?
I have an unlocked ex-AT&T Aria. When I check for updates I get a "Server Unavailable" error. I suppose, it's normal, as I'm not on AT&T network.
The question is:
Is there any possibility to install this update for me?
My phone is not rooted and not s-off'ed. (Damn 2.2 off update with 1.02 hboot)
PS: Sorry for possible mistakes, English is not my native lang.
I still haven't received the update yet.

Personally, I think that unless you actually have something important and confidential to protect, it really doesn't warrant the use of encryption. It makes things a pain in the arse e.g. updates, some recoveries don't work with encryption etc.

Yes they are currently being drip fed via OTA from Google. You either have to wait your turn, or manually install it.
It happens when it happens, be patient. I rarely ever wait for OTA updates and just get them manually, I've already installed and reinstalled this 4.2.2 like 5 times now on my N7 without issues.

Well, considering what I have installed was downloaded from Google's website I would say "Yep, it most certainly is."
It's the same exact file - someone that got the actual OTA update went back and looked at the log file made during the update and pulled the URL the actual archive came from (and the filename, obviously) and that is the file that a lot of us have manually installed.
So yes, it's exactly the same file.
In time we'll see a full 4.2.2 factory image and when that appears I'll most likely redo my N7 with that just because that's the kind of stuff I do sometimes.

4.1.2 to 4.2.2 - is it worth it?
Hi Forum friends.
I live in New Delhi, India & got my N7 from the US in Jan.
It came with 4.1.2; very soon it d/l the 4.2.1 OTA update & till now I've fobbed off the nagging reminders to install it, seeing all the issues that came with the update.
This morning when I turned the N7 on, I got the notification that the 4.2.2 update had been d/l & was prompted to install it.
My N7 is as it came - stock, unrooted- I understand being the lingo of the gurus in this area.
I am an old guy with no ambition to modify my N7; I just want to use it for what gives me pleasure- read/watch/acquire knowledge/communicate etc.
The only mod, if you can call it that, has been to d/l the NMI & watch movies off a pen drive, w/o going thru the bother of loading/deleting stuff via the USB cable; while on the subject, can anyone enlighten me why MX player won't read the srt file off the OTG/pendrive when it can do so when I transfer the folder containing the movie+ the srt file onto the tab via the usb cable? TIA
Qn - Am I better off with 4.1.2 or will 4.2.2 bring improvements w/o bestowing problems like 4.2.1 did - or is it too early to tell?
TIA & A Very Good Day to all.
Finally got the update over the air. I don't see much of as difference.

Hi, lucky you! I'm still waiting for 4.2.2 OTA.
Actually I've got zero problem with 4.2.1 so far and therefore can't comment on the issues people tell of. So 4.2.1 is for me perfectly fine. However just because there is an update I can't stop thinking when does it come to my device

I think almost all of the people are already on 4.2.2. If you can't wait, just sideload the update.
Why is that the downloadable updater's files are dated May 3, 2012? The same was true of the last update. Why wouldn't Google let the timestamps be whatever they were when they were went gold or were last updated? It's disconcerting to update with files dated 10 months ago for a brand new release.

I think the time stamp refers to JB in general and since 4.2.2 is still JB the stamp hasn't changed and will probly change when KLP is released, but this is only my theory.

No need to unroot. You'll get the OTA even when rooted. It just doesn't seem like anyone has actually gotten the OTA yet. Keep checking your tablet, but you're probably better off checking here for someone to post the download link once they get it.

You know that you can flash a factory download without losing data, right? Android Police did a writeup if you want the full details, but the short and sweet version is download the .tar, extract the contents, and then just run fastboot flash boot boot.img, reboot, fastboot flash system system.img, and you're basically done.

Even if they did, it's not a guaranteed thing. The clear Google Framework and CHECKIN phone codes are just ways to possibly bump up your chances. If you want the update badly, you can flash the factory images from the developer page. If you take care and don't use the flash-all script, then you can keep data in the process.

I have yet to hear anyone in California getting it yet - though please correct me if I am wrong.
I was thinking of doing the Google Services Framework thing, but I have been reading online that it can mess up your Google account doing that.
