okay i have a htc touch elf obi
i bricked my htc or deleted the software i gave it to my friend and he put a test only rom i am trying to sell my htc due to upgrade but with a test only rom its not the best thing as when you turn it on it says TEST ONLY NOT FOR SALE which is not good i was going to install a custom rom such as onyx_ult_4.7 but last time i tried to install a rom i deleted my software so can i have some help installing the sofware and do i need to change the ipl is it or anything eles before i start. i wanted to do this as i want my friend to kinda go owww when he sees it and will buy it.
i doesnt have to be that rom but i wanted something that would look good
please help

Hi, I'm going out of my mind trying to get to 2.1 but I need to update to the .66 from February.
I'm using Windows 7 32bit and once or twice I have managed to get the phone to start to update but it comes back with error 170. I've tried everything I can think of. Downloaded the drivers and updated but in Device Manager I have either 'HTC Dream ADB Composite Interface' or in disk drives 'HTC Android Phone USB'.
Is there any way I can boot the update from my SD card?
Any help will be fantastic.
I'm having this exact same problem, tried updating the drivers but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Or why not root and use another rom like SenseHero B5.1
This is the one i like the most by far,
Means you have to downgrade your ROM version to 2.73.61.5Â

Can I just clarify that if I follow the www.theunlockr.com method by rooting the phone I can then load the official .66 firmware? If this is the way to do it, where can I get that firmware from?
To be honest, I'm not wanting to put on any other custom firmwares and I want to update to the HTC official 2.1 firmware only.

No no rooting was only to use custom roms,
How ever if it comes to it flash to another rom and then back to .66
First you need to get orange RRU ROM version 2.73.61.5 from
http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=283&cat=2&dl_id=675
Flash this and on first boot you should get a message to advise of a update,
No need to finish setting the phone up but go a head with the download,
Once downloaded it will flash a new radio and reboot,
Then you should have .66
I was still trying to get 2.1 from orange last night,
Ever time i asked it to check for updates it said it was up to date all ready yet still on 15
Back to using a custom rom again today,
Hope your able to get sorted soon folks.
Sorted. Updated it with my mates laptop running Vista. Updating to 2.1 now. THANK GOD!!!

I got my phone with froyo xxjp8 preinstaled on it, maybe its also rooted but dont know and it doesnt want find my SIM card...so what should I do? Should I try to flash to latest official firmware ( and then which one is it?)? Thank you in advance for your help
I have a sm-6935p and i use it in mexico is unlocked but have a sprint rom, i dont want the sprint carrier software because i have problems whit the hands free activation and other things, i want a stock rom and after that i want to install the beta nogaut android, can you please help me? What is the correct rom to install that no brick my Phone and what is the correct metod thanks and sorry for my bad english
unfortunately there is no way to get nougat on your phone currently. beta registration has been closed for a week or two. i would keep checking sammobile.com
as far as an unlocked sprint rom, the U version is available but I dont think the beta applies to the unlocked Rom
