I love my Desire Z but it's getting old and slow. I noticed that many cool new qwerty phones are being released in the USA like the Motorola Photon Q and the new Samsung galaxy Relay. Here in Europe, phones work with sim cards. I could be wrong in this, but I noticed that all these new phones have their sim-card soldered on the board, so I couldn't use it with my own provider if I wanted to.
Are there currently any worthwhile qwerty Android phones (at least a good dual core) out there or coming soon that have a SIM card slot?
The galaxy relay is GSM and has a sim slot

Sweet! I see it has been rooted, as well. I'll pick one up next time I'm in the States.
Make sure to check the bands so you'll know if it runs on your carrier

Looks like it. Plus this one has 4G antennas.

4g ? So this means it is diffirent hardware? Like the difference betwn gsm and cdma?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
It's still GSM but supports the upcoming 4G LTE. It should work on European networks, but only at 2G speeds, just like the DHD works on US GSM networks.

Why not just release Desire HD for the whole world? Why restrict it to EU and then make a slightly different one with a different name for US? Weird... s:
Because North Americans like to be "unique"
Is not us north Americans who want to be unique, In this case AT&T wants to have its way as always and restrict the phone and add their usual brand crap. If only HTC would sell it US VERSION UNLOCKED I would pay 600 for it.
I think the mentality is different in the US. People don;t usually buy SIM free phones at the full price there. Most get locked in a contract in which you get a free phone.
Moreover, the US uses different 3G bands than the rest of the world (except Telstra).
HTC Inspire (AT&T) is in FACT a Desire HD (ACE).
There will be plenty of good firmware available for it, including CM7.

The inspire is not a desire HD, for starters its a 4G device, so it will need totally diffrent radios, as for roms, i wouldnt be suprised if it had a revised hardward setup meaning it will need its own roms...

What phone should I buy unlocked? HTC one X and galaxy s III don't support T-mobile 4g. I really want new phone but don't know what the best phone that supports T-Mobile 4g is? I don't want the one S

Then you are out of luck for a couple of months, unless you want the s2, amaze, or sensation
I was just hoping anyone had a hack or sth for one x or s 3, guess I'll wait till s3 come to our magenta

Can't "hack" a phone to make it support different frequencies. That's at the hardware level.

Why don't you like the one s?
And the art HOX is essentially the HOS with a bigger screen. Unless you go over seas for a euro version but doubt it will work on tmo 4g..
If your wanting the latest n greatest phone I would wait a few months when the next band of phones come out. I am not all to impressed with the sgs3. But that's my onion which is apparently opposite of 9.million other people

have you checked out the Galaxy Nexus? It's pentaband meaning that it also supports T-Mobile 4G as well as AT&T. My friend has it and he gets 4G on his Galaxy Nexus.
They sell it for $400 over at Google Play Store. You should check it out
Yeah I was thinking of getting the nexus. I most likely will wait for next batch though

hey,
my Aunt gave me an evo 4g for sprint today and thought i could use it (i have t mobile), so after about 15 minutes of explaining to her why i can't use it, i decided it was easier to just accept it and say thank you.
But now I have this phone that i cannot use and i am wondering what would be a t mobile equivalent seeing as how i am looking to trade it.
Any suggestions? It's mint condition with an otterbox

Oh... derp. I dont know much about US phones so yeah maybe use it as a gaming device (put a load of ROM's n emulators on there. Use it as an alarm clock? Thers literally literally 100's of uses.

thanks don't hurt ya know?
Maybe HTC mytouch 4G? Idk, I think its a better idea to sell the EVO then buy a different phone rather than trade.
Sent from my MB508 using xda premium
yea, i thought about the hand-held emulator thing, but seeing as how i have a rooted g1 and a jb unlocked iphone 3, i'd really just like a newer phone.
If i sold it, what do you think i could get for it? 100 dollars?
HTC didn't really make many T-Mobile phones of that generation. Just the MT4G AND G2. Spec-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S 4G is similar, but the Vibrant has much better support by devs here.
I think you can also unlock the Infuse 4G to run on TMO, but I'd check on that yourself to see if you can get it to run on TMO's 4G network. Otherwise, sell it, save up some cash, and buy a T989 used. Some great ROMs for us over there.
root it through a custom rom on it, sell it for $120

i can't get into the marketplace >.< but does anyone have a t mobile phone for sale that has a 1 gig processor and hopefully around 512 ram? I just found out that the evo i have doesn't have a clean ESN because i was mistaken....i thought it was my aunts old phone that she didn't need anymore, but really it was just a phone that she found. so i am in the process of contacting the previous owner to give the phone back

I can't find a clear answer on this, does the nexus 4 use both a standard sim card, a micro sim card, or does it support both?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
Nexus 4 is micro SIM.
Thank you. Does every carrier have micro sim cards? Currently I only have a regular sim card and am not sure if Fido has micro sims.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
I think they all do, yeah. Just give them a call and they'll be able to let you know
I currently have an LG Optimus one with a normal size sim. When I get the Nexus 4 I plan on cutting the sim to micro sim dimensions then sticking it in my new device. Will it work instantly with my existing plan from my Optimus one?

So, I jumped on amazon and bought myself a noosy micro SIM cutter.

Lol yes. If I had to I would try cutting it, but that would mean I couldn't use my cappy as a backup afterwards. Definitely glad fido has the dual sim card option for that reason.

I'm on O2 UK with a full-size SIM. Do you think I could just ask them to give me a micro-SIM?
SIM
The phone has a micro-sim and if you cant get hold of a micro then the only decision is to cut it yourself. The sim still works equally well!

Or just ask your carrier for a new sim. Cutters are fun but why not get a new doggie

I had an iPhone 4 so I had to cut my Sim card but when I moved to HTC Inspire 4G then I still had the extra pieces so i fitted them in the device. Now when I will get Nexus 4, I can simply use the Micro Sim and keep those pieces to a safe place

I'm on T-Mobile UK and when I asked they said it would cost me £10. I tried to cut my own, but the chip is huge! What I did was ring them up and they were able to credit me the money to my next bill. Give that a try...I'm not saying it will work, but its worth a try.

Yeah, they call is an "admin fee"...not sure why. All the guy did was get a new SIM, scan it in and then enter in my phone number and details. If I hadn't got my money back I wouldn't have been too happy about it.

Guys, HTC is releasing the Dual sim version outside of china, so far its been listed on the Taiwan and India HTC website.
It supports microSDXC!

LTE mfr, do you use it?
Jk, but HTC has said that the reason the other markets are abke to get all those goodies is because they don't have LTE radios.

Ugh. Seriously?
Everybody knows that the most common frequencies for LTE like 1900 MHz interfere with the delicate I/O of SD cards.
Jeez.
And nice word play at the end there.
