As title.
I don't use Sync at all, but keeps communicating to Google about updates etc, and when I go onto desktop Play Store I can "send" apps to my tablet...
Any way to stop this, I just want to maximise battery life and log into the Play store manually if required...
Will "deleting" account remove data?

If you aren't syncing then no battery will in theory be used for syncing things such as contacts, calendar etc but you still get play store notifications.
You can turn off app update notifications I think if you are rooted, eg via titanium backup but whether that actually stops the checking or just stops the device reporting I don't know.
But to be honest I would say the battery used with regards to a few update notifications from the play store is tiny tiny tiny compared to everything else.
Just turn off sync. The send stuff is all push and uses zero battery unless actually used.

I have turned off sync and everything else and even "froze" various google apps. the damn thing just turns the stuff on again and syncs and connects to google . I use my n7 on a non internet connected wifi net for media playback of movies and music. the playback skips and lags as the n7 tries to phone home to google....very annoying!

All of a sudden I got "An error had occurred while fetching data [null]" every time I want to see my live feed and my own profile from my Nexus One phone (stock Facebook app). I have no problem accessing it from the browser or PC.
Strange thing though, when i log out, then re-login using OTHER facebook account, I can see the live feed and the profile page no problem. Everything works fine again.
However, once i login using MY account, problem starts again.
I have hard reset my N1, problem still there.
Any idea? Please help.
I like the stock Facebook app on N1, don't really want to install another app or use browser to access it.
Oh and my N1 is stock, no root yet.
Thank you
Calm down and take a deep breath I have the same problem. It is not your phone it is facebook server. I had the problem yesterday shortly and today in the morning. Now it seems ok for me...wait until they repair the problem and use the browser application in the meantime...
i had the same issue also, mine seems to be working now though.
so server related not my phone?
phew...
mine still isn't working though
still not working? dang, just give it some time, mine was out a good 6-7 hours
I've had this issue on the Desire ROM where the live feed on the Friend Stream just refuses to update... I was "locked out" for a few days.
strange, it wasn't working for a while until u put the facebook widget on my home. click on the facebook icon, then ta-da! all working again.
Not sure if it was a coincidence...
It's a problem with some 3rd party apps that push data to your facebook feed and the client's interpretation of the XML. Zynga apps being one of them.
You can experiment by hiding various 3rd party apps form your facebook feed (or logging in when you get the error on a computer and seeing what apps were there and not on your phone).
Once they're hidden (or, over time as they pass further down the history list) your feed will work fine.
i don't play games on facebook, nor have i allow any games to be on my profile.
strange, but it works ok now.
Not just games this can be form ANY third party app that has an illegal character in it....this includes quizes, "who visited your profile", horoscopes, any of those things, anything that is not a pure-facebook update.
Same problem here on htc desire S. On wifi all is ok. On 3g ''An error had occurred while fetching data (null.)'' This is very strange.
I am having a problem with my synced account. It recognizes that my account is synced, but my music in Google Music player did not sync and apps from the market that I have bought on my Droid are showing up in the market with the price next to them rather than "install."
When I first started up my tab I was having problem with the wifi, so I skipped the initial sync setup just to get onto the tab and play around with a few things and I synced later on. Could this be a reason? I'd prefer to avoid a factory reset of course.
Thanks in advance!
You can always check if the account is setup correctly by going to settings --> accounts & sync.
Try to sign into Google Talk on the Tab to fix the Market issues. For the Music issue, make sure you have updated the Music App then check the settings in the app once you have updated. Then make sure your "Library" is showing ALL music rather than just local.
Not sure whats going on but it will not see any songs that I uploaded from my PC (2000 songs). There is no button to "sync" the device in either the Music app or in settings/account/gmail. I've installed the app 3 times with the same results. Is there a trick or something? Running GB 2.3.3
Silly question, but did you try a reboot? I have heard that has helped some.

Yes I have, many times
GOT IT!!!
Downloading the app from the market via the phone gave me the problem. I removed the app then from my laptop I pushed the install via the market website and then everything worked. very odd.
Odd indeed

I noticed I have to give it some time to sync after I install it. Also there IS a check box in android accounts settings to enable syncing.
Yup. Enable syncing. I use the power control widget so I only sync when I'm listening to my music.

I've noticed that if it does not sync right away (or after a few hours), Then clear the data on the Google music app. To do so: Go to settings>Applications>Manage Applications and find Google music, then select clear data. Once that is finished go back into Google music and you should be able to pull up the menu and select settings. Then just select your gmail account again and it should start syncing almost immediately.

thats exactly what i have to do too. have to do it just about every time i install music beta.
Yea, I'm having issues too. Shouldn't Music come up in Account & Sync in settings? I don't seem to have it listed anymore.
Thanks. Clearing data fixed the problem.
Just for anyone else having a problem, an issue I ran into was everytime I flashed a new nightly for CM7, it counted as a new device being added to my account. Eventually I was maxed out on allowed devices (think it might be 8 but don't remember) and it wouldn't sync new songs for me anymore. I had to clear the devices from the music beta page itself to fix the problem.

That worked for me. I can sync again. Thank you!
I think the Google music app sucks. Thats right, it sucks.
I have tried deleting the app from my phone and my pc, then reloading.
What happens to me is when I reload everything, it syncs the same old songs. I have deleted them from everywhere, changed the folder, deleted the folder and created a new one.....same music.....that doesnt exist any more. When I select the folder to sync, it shows the correct number of songs for the new folder but then syncs a different number.....and music that doesnt even exist on my CPU anymore.
Makes no sense to me.
Also, theres no way to delete or hide a song on my device. I know theres a menu choice to hide unavailable but that doesnt work either.
Severe FAIL on Google. BOOOOOOOOOOOO
I had this problem a lot. After installing Music from the Market place, go into App Management and "Clear Data". When you load Music again, it will have a settings menu now to select your account. Although, I think this issue was fixed on newer GB versions because I didn't have to do it when I fresh installed on .605.
Just another Android glitch
"I've noticed that if it does not sync right away (or after a few hours), Then clear the data on the Google music app."
I just crossed over to Android and got the GS2. Figured I'd get one of the flagship devices. I figured Android must be good; it's so popular.
I've never used a phone with so many work-arounds, glitches... needed to download so many programs just for a loud & repeating calendar alarm... stores photos to 10 different folders.
Now I have to clear data for every sync I want to do w/ my clouded music? Why didn't I just get an iPhone? The bigger question is, how is it that Android has repeat customers? Maybe Android buyers are all first-time smartphone users and don't know any better. These types of bugs and glitches common to Android are not standard far on iPhone or even my older Nokia N-Series and BlackBerrys.

So as the title says, I cannot connect to any of the Google apps such as YouTube, Google+, and the Play store. These were all working just a couple days ago, and I would appreciate any troubleshooting tips. Some of the apps, like YouTube, will connect, but have limited functionality. For example, I can connect to YouTube, and I can play videos, but I cannot like, subscribe, or do anything that requires an account. Also things like Gmail and Google+ will load, but I cannot get any new posts/emails
Any suggestions on how I can fix this?
Using a Nexus 4 w/ Cyanogen Mod 11.

It sounds that google app data doesn't sync. Go to settings accounts your google account and make sour that app data is checked. Maybe that's your problem.

Well, I went there, and saw that the app data was already checked. There was a message at the bottom telling me that "sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly"
Any other ideas?
Have you tried forcing a sync of every single item? Removing and re-adding your google account? Those might do the trick. Also make sure your play store and play services are fully up to date.
Lately, I'm getting less SOC (3hr), until one day it caught my eye. I found Google Play services using at least 50% everyday! I know there's a module on magisk to disable it, but I have important messages to respond. How do I fix it? I've tried turning off location, deny unnecessary permissions, restrict most apps from running in background.
Check to see is you have a sync issue, Play Services will keep trying to sync: Settings > Accounts see if any errors.
Next try setting your GPS to device only as a test, apps request GPS through Play services so although unlikely just test it to so if it improves battery life.
Also try clearing the Play services data.

Do you have all categories of sync turned off, sms, chrome, contacts etc etc?
You do not mention data, did you do the last suggestion of clearing data and cache in Google Play Services?
My only other suggestion would be to aslo clear Google Services Framework, it is usually advised not to do this can take a few days to settle due to a new store token which some apps can take a while to update, you might also have to log into Google again. Due to your issue I think it is worth it.
(you need to press "show system" to see GSF)
Found the culprit
It's the auto sync that drains the battery. The backup does not drain battery. Tried it and it works, now I get two days worth of battery on my redmi note 8 pro and a whole day of battery on my mi a1 with moderate usage. Some games, facebook, Netflix etc.
