Anyone's phone not ringing? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guy, I have the N4 for tmobile and I have had problems with people calling and not getting though it just sends them straight to voice mail and not pop up to notify me and not ring but when I call out the voicemail pop's up. Anyone having this problem?

I am having this issue as well. It doesn't happen all the time but it does happen

Yeah, I think it happens mostly when I leave it alone for a bit.

Bump. Anyone else have this problem? Sometimes I don't get texts and calls go straight to voicemail, I have to restart my phone and that fixes it for a while. It happens randomly. Haven't figured out a pattern yet.

I have had this happen a couple times on both of my Nexus 4 devices.

I have had this happen in the morning. Not sure if it is carrier dependent. I am with Wind.

Yeah happend to me twice !

Same here, T-Mobile in Florida

I'm on T-Mo in VA and the latest CM10.1 nightly and it seems like my phone almost never rings. I am constantly getting "Missed call" notifications. And despite having Google Voice installed, the only messages I get are from the T-Mo VM. Weird....

This has been happening to my wifes Nexus 4 but not mine. It usually only happens in the mornings when the phone has been sitting for a while, after she restarts it, it seems to work fine. Does anyone know a fix for this???

This was happening to me a lot at first, I went to tmobile and got a new mini sim card b/c i cut my old one down and know it seems fine b/c im not waking up to voice mails and no miss calls.

Unable to receive texts

My NS4G is unable to receive texts. I can send them but can't receive any. I've pulled the battery and still nada. I also tried different carriers and its all of them o can't receive from. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Sprint has been having a nation wide issue with Text Messaging for the last couple of days and they are working on fixing it currently.
Years I thought that too and called sprint. They said that isn't the case. All towers are OK in my area.

Do you use Google voice? If so check your settings.

I do and did. They aren't even in my online voice history. Very weird.

OMG I thought I was the only one with this problem.......
It just started for me yesterday in the afternoon. What's weird is they actually started working for a second after I did a hard reset, and they stopped. For me, it is also cross-network. When my friend texts me through his Nexus S 4G I get his texts just fine.
I was just about to head to the Sprint store to ask about this.....glad this was posted so I don't have to waste the gas lol
Hard reset helped, as did a re-flash.

Double hello/2 second delay when answering an incoming call on Nexus 4

This lag when answering an incoming call on Nexus 4 is really annoying. Regardless of which ROM.
Could it be network related or the device itself?
I am on T-Mobile. Anyone else on T-Mo experiencing this issue?
nope. what kernel are you using.
Yep. There was a thread about it a few weeks ago.

There was a recent commit to CM that may help this, it allowed for opening of the audio stream before the RIL had notified that the call was connected.

I didn't have this issue with G2 so I'm not used to answer lag. I can live with it I guess.
Used to happen on my desire HD think it is a jelly bean thing
I have also used giffgaff sim and Vodafone both do the same
Really annoying and such a simple thing should be sorted!
Glad other people have posted this cause I thought it was just me lol

I also think it has something to do with jellybean.. Had the same issue with any aosp ROM on my gs3...

having the same problem, it's driving me mad .....
It's not a nexus 4 nor jelly bean only issue. My wife's iphone 4 has the same issue, hello hello bug... Seems like a network, tower delay.. And it seems new.. At least my previous phones on the same service provider didn't have this..

+1 have say hello like 3 times .
I noticed its usually after the phone marks 3-4 seconds that's when the other person hears you...what can we do about this?
My Lil bro inlaw and my moms are all on the same account but they have a amaze and a sgs2. They don't have that problem...

same here, any update on this ?
Just chiming in - same problem here on carrier TDC in Denmark, stock ROM.
There's a bug report on it here: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42525
So annoying, can't believe there aren't more ppl complaining about this :/
Stock rom + Franco Kernel here on rev 11
Having the same issues. Didn't notice this with my first nexus 4 got a replacement and every incoming call has a two to three second delay.
I have the same problem, it is very annoying, had plenty of smartphones before and none of them had this issue. Galaxy Nexus was my previous device and there was no delay. With Nexus 4 there is a delay and it is device related, or at least device combined with T-Mobile.
Seems like nobody at google uses this device, everyone just acts dumb like you are the only person experiencing the issue if you complain about it.
Just got the update to 4.2.2, and it seems to have fixed this problem for me.
Tested it a few times by calling the Nexus 4 from a land line, and voice came through almost instantly every time. At least as fast as you can lift the phone up to your ear after answering.

Duplicate Text Messages

Hi all,
I just got a Nexus 4 and am using a prepaid T-Mobile Sim with the 100 minutes unlimited data/messaging plan. Everything is working great except I am receiving duplicate text messages most of the time someone messages me. I was wondering if there is an APN setting or something else I can do to try and fix this annoyance. Was wondering if anyone else was having this issue.
Thanks.
My friend had this same issue.
The way we fixed it was power off the phone, take out the sim, power back up, leave the phone for 5 min, and then power back off.
Popped the sim back in and it was fixed.
When I see them next I'll ask to check their APN to make sure.
Hope this works for you.

Is it from people who are on various networks? Sounds like it could be a problem on their end. Every once in a while I'll get duplicate texts from people on MetroPCS, or Sprint if their networks are on the fritz. So try to have people from different networks text you and see if you still have the problem,

Same problem with T-Mobile germany... Senders are in different networks. I am receiving single messages up to 8 times. This happened on the i9250 nexus before, too. Same number, different sim card, different phone. Maybe related to cyanogenmod 10.0/10.1, as i never experienced that issue in stock. (To be honest, i was never long in stock Rom). The Problem occurs most times Ehen the phone is rebooted, or comes out of flight mode.
Which roms are you using ?

In general it's usually because of the sending party. Did you port your number also as that does cause it most of the time?
Nope, i just got a new sim card from my provider. I am a t-mobile customer for 14 years now, and never ported that number to another carrier.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Not sure if you have noticed this, but it seems to happen when I briefly lose service. When I get signal back I have noticed that is when I am getting the duplicates. I've only been on T-Mobile for a few days after I ported my number from Verizon.

AW: Duplicate Text Messages
I made a support ticket @t-mobile germany. They told me, that this must be a bigger problem related to the network itself. The next time it happens they want me to call them and provide time of failure and number of sender to them.
But, it didn't happen again, yet.

How do you fix it? I ported my number from verizon but it just recently started happening (maybe the last few weeks),. Using PA, most updated version.

Strange SMS question... Someone else is receiving texts meant for me

Basically I am in the same house as my dad and when people texts me, he gets the text on his Nokia 300 instead
We are both on completely different networks and phone numbers
Anybody ever had this problem?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
No.
Are you guys using the right phone? Sim card ? Lol.
Perhaps the person who is texting has the wrong number.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
No haha, mine is a micro sim and his is a standard sim and the people texting me don't even know my dad lol
Makes no sense at all :|

Are all your texts going to this other phone or just ones from certain people? If not someone is pulling your leg. Also is this a family plan, could be the carrier is messing up directing what texts go to what phone but I highly doubt it. Did you two switch phones at some point in time? As sms/mms are tied to the phone number it would be impossible for another device to receive them accidentally just by being in the same location.

[Q] "Call ended" bug after update to 4.2.2

So ive had my N4 for about 2 months and everything is going great. However after I updated to 4.2.2 ( i got it OTA, didnt sideload or anything), i started having trouble placing calls.
I hit the dial button, wait for a few seconds then it automatically closes the line and says "call ended", it doesnt even get to the point where its actually ringing. Also, people I talk to on the phone arent hearing me and I have to repeat what i say a couple of time .. Its really annoying .
Anyone else having this ? Any clue why ? Solutions ?? ( already tried taking out the sim and reinserting it, didnt fix anything)
Thank you.

Well it seems like my phone is okay and its just bad network connectivity. A lot of people in my area are complaining about the same thing (phones ranging from Nokias to iPhones ) .
