I went to install drivers for the nexus 7 and when I ran the full driver test from WUGfresh's toolkit it put me in fast boot. I need to leave my house and finish the process later. How do I get out of fastboot??? I just want to boot into the OS and leave! Thanks
Using the volume keys go to reboot and press the power button to select.

Look at the dropbox image pls. I hit power button and it did nothing. Volume rockers do nothing. I am in fastboot
I did look at it. Your bootloader must be frozen.
Hold the power button down for at least 10 seconds.

It seems my power button is hard to press. There's not much of a click so I sometimes I don't know if I pressed it. I wonder I need a replacement.

a little on the soft / mushy side. requires a focused press for sure. in the official bumper however there is a satisfying click.

I have the same...issue? It's not so much an issue as it is something I wish were a little different.

Can't tell you, Google still has my phone
By hard to press you mean hard to find?
Takes sometime to get used to the button position, you know.
Moved to Q&A
PGM Nexus will hopefully be updated to support the n4 soon; awesome application!
No click, hard to press and mushy and way to high on the side.
Volume is the same way.
Bad design, just like placing the speaker on the back of a completely flat surface, who the heck approves these...
Maybe a few of you have sort of a defective button? ( as in not working as intended )

Easy to press but I always seem to be pressing the volume rocker at the same time. I like the top power button location on my Sensation 4G better.

I have the same problem. Its not by any means AWFUL but there are many times I attempt to press it and it doesn't press.
My power button also doesn't feel as solid as the volume rocker.
I'm afraid it will become unresponsive later.
Ok so it seems I'm not the only one with a mushy power button. I don't have a definite click that's for sure.

Are you doing it simultaneously? Give it like a second or two before releasing

press the power button first and the the volume down button...and then wait for your INSTANT WIN!!
need to press them the same time. its a little tricky at the start but you'll get used to it.
or you can just get an app that will do it for you

no point in installing useless apps that consume memory when its in the OS natively. its not that difficult to press two buttons at the same time and getting it right. once you do it once or twice, you'd get the hang of it and all is good.
either that or flash a custom rom and u can add the screenshot button on your long press power button menu.

It works for everyone. All you have to do is push them at the same time. Power + volume down. Hold for like three seconds. If it doesn't work hold for five seconds.

It's very tricky. I said the same thing when I was doing it on my galaxy Nexus but got the hang of it.
Place your hand on the volume down and power button before pressing them and then hold them both at the same time until your phone makes a screen shot animation.
I will give Samsung this though the slide to screen shot is very intuitive on the touch wiz platform.

Oh so that's why. Since the new diztronics cover the buttons, it's probably not being pressed correctly.

Tell that to the people who had difficulties
It is tricky at the beginning but like I said over again and again, once you know how to do it. It's not tricky and is very easy to do. I understand depending what case they have on it may be trickier because the case covers the buttons that all of us overlooked
Screen shot working on Nexus 4 after trying this!!!!

Try first powering off your phone. I had a little issue and i could not get the shutting down menu after several attempts, the phone restarted it self and after it was up, I was able to take screenshots without any difficulties.

My nexus had the same problem... and yes, I know how to take screenshots...
But by doing this the problem was solved... thanx man!
I have not got my phone yet should be here in a day or two but I have been rooting and flashing for a while and when things crash I have to pull battery out. What do you do on nexus 4? You if holding power down doesn't work.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
You're screwed then as holding the power button down for ten seconds is the only way to force shut it down.
It's slightly different than my N7 where you hold that power button to reboot, this one just shuts it down and I have to release and press again to start it back up.

Hey guys..
I've done a lot of rooting and flashing and all that on many phones... Just kind of curious because sometimes I end up in a boot loop in the past.. What would I do if that happened on my nexus 4 or 7??
There is obviously no battery pull.......
This is the only thing holding me back at the moment Lol...

I thought all you had to do was hold down the power button for 10 seconds or so and it would shut down. Don't think volume up is necessary.

Correct. A lot of the time I just do volume up as well so I can boot straight into recovery instead of just powering off.

Power + vol down will get you into bootloader so you can use fastboot.
This is for the latest CM10.1 nightly. Power and volume down doesn't work. It worked this way with stock. :'( loving my new nexus 7!!

You can always go to power menu and screenshot from there though it's really "clunky" (my vocabulary sucks)
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Settings-system-power menu. From there you can enable screenshots from long pressing the power button and tapping screenshot.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
the proper way to do it is to hold down the power and the up volume, or down, idk, and it will take a screenshot, it has to be pretty good timing though or youll turn your volume up or turn off the screen.

All you need to do for 10.1 is hold power and volume down at the same time
