Help I Deleted My Pictures By Mistake - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

I accidentally formatted my galaxy tab 10.1 and lost all of my pictures and videos
Is there any way of getting them back?
Cheer's Brian

It's probably safe to say that all of your files are indeed gone, unfortunately.
This is why backing up is so crucial. Now, unless you've made a recent nandroid or had some sort of app installed that automatically backs up your photos/videos/media what have you (dropbox, Google photos etc), then you can retrieve those files.
But if not, then just take this as a lesson and learn from it.

Have not tried this myself on my tab but I did on my HTC Desire HD after deleting my daughters grad pics and it worked got them all back, recuva from Piriform http://www.piriform.com/recuva connect your tablet and scan it.

Oh not looking good then!
I have read that if i root my tab i may be able to recovery the pictures?
What is rooting? is it hard to do?
Brian

Rooting is not do difficult, you want to search for your specific device model. Then you could use an app like
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.undelete&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImZhaHJib3QuYXBwcy51bmRlbGV0ZSJd

If this project was so important to you why didn't you back it up off of the phone somewhere? Dropbox or the free 50GB Box account most got with the Nexus 4 come to mind. I'm not sure if a full nandroid backup includes the contents of the sdcard on the nexus 4 but that might be a place to start looking, that is if you ever bothered to do a full backup of your phone.
You can get your files back, the same thing happened to me, my pocket somehow formatted my sdcard. Look for software that recovers deleted files

What secret? I said there is software that recovers deleted files. Have you heard of Google? Search for software that recovers deleted files and voila, you'll have your dats back. There are hundreds of programs that can handle your problem.

No offence but he could've searched on Google without anyone telling him to. that's why people come here on xda to get help from fellow members.. what's the point of replying if someone asks for help here and in reply what he all gets is 'go search Google'..

XDA also encourages users to search for answers before asking for help. This place is for learning new things and expanding current knowledge. People won't really learn if they're spoon fed what they want to know.

Boy do you have it wrong. XDA is not a place to come and get help. IT is not a support site. This is a developers site. You are EXPECTED to put in the time and effort to fix your own issues first. Then spend some time searching. (and do search outside your own devices forum) Then you try some things you have seen. If that doesnt work then you can post a thread but dont expect a solution.

I'd love to here about the hundreds of software that recovers deleted files from MTP devices (MTP is not direct hardware access like plugging a flash drive into your computer)

So you mean the software like PC Inspector or Recuva or any other file recovering software will not work on our Nexus 4..??
once i deleted my photos from my old desire HD and i recovered it using PC inspector...now Nexus does not have SD card so i am not sure weather that will work or not..

I haven't tested such software, and I could be wrong, but when you connect (most) newer Android devices to a computer, you get access to the files via MTP. You don't have direct access to the filesystem (which I think is ext4), and because of this, you can't do the "advanced" stuff needed for file recovery (I guess checking sectors, free space, and etc.)
Older (and some newer) Android devices when hooked to a computer let you do USB Mass Storage (essentially the same kind of access you have when you plug a flash drive in), which is giving you direct access to the file system (FAT32), and in-theory, should work fine with file recovery software.
so can we mount the nexus 4 as fat32 or ext4? because on mine it just shows up in device section with no name

Backup via ADB?

Hey everyone
My Nexus 4 screen cracked, I'm sending it to LG for repair, they explained it will be factory wiped.
Before i send it, can someone explain to a n00b how I can back up my phone's data? I can't use the phone at all, the digitizer is cooked.
Thank you!

For the SD card, use adb pull. Your apps should be backed up with your Google account

Note that adb backup can be unreliable. I suggest making several types of backups--with APK, without APK, with system, without system, etc. Because you don't know which one will restore properly. Also do the more traditional backups, like SMS backup.

That's easy if they're in /sdcard/DCIM. ADB could theoretically back up your photos ("adb backup -shared"), but I wouldn't trust something so important to a tool that didn't appear quite reliable when I tested it.

IF they were on your external SD you can use a recover app like recuva or similar to attempt to recovery them. JUST don't write ANYTHING to it till you've attempted a few recoveries.
Can also use testdisk and photrec on linux
You can always just break up if not. Might be easier software way..
Good luck.

Have you had any luck recovering those deleted photos?
I had success useing "disk digger" it recovered 2500 photos. (accidentally deleted a album) roughly 650 of them were corrupted but it was still a success most of them were salvaged.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I used Sandisk RescuePro and it worked great for a microSD card. The key to recovering lost photos is to not shoot any more pics or format i.e. the less you write to the card the better your chances of recovery.
For things stored on your phone, try Disk Digger that 'Menance_69' mentioned or checkout Undelete For Root Users (as the name implies it's only for rooted devices). Hope this helps.
Re: Lost pictures help please
See, now a days so many data recovery tools are available on internet to help you out from this kind of situation. Some days ago I found one tool named as Remo Recover and it fascinated me with its qualities.

congrats, man! one thing you could do, too, is get a free dropbox account, and install the app. it will automatically backup all your photos onto your dropbox account as you take pictures. definitely saved me more times than i can count.
for other people's reference, there's also an app called DiskDigger that you can run from your phone that does the same thing as programs mentioned in other posts.

[Q] Girlfriend's S4 sent up for repair ... will all data be deleted?

Hello everyone
My girlfriend has sent her S4 up for repair because apparently it wouldn't power up anymore, (I Couldn't help and try to fix it due distance and no one really in her family knows how to fix things such as...) so after going to a store they sent it up for repair. She got the SD out of it.
I was wondering how they do it at Samsung, she had the SD card in all the time while using it daily, and had Google+ logged in.
But there are no photo's on her Google+ and she doesn't know about her SD yet.
So the big question is : Will she lose her data, and 5000(+) photo's?!
Kindest regards.

I do not mean to talk bad about her but she isn't the best with Technology, so if it isn't standard turned on then sadly I don't think so, no.
If her photos are saved on the internal storage then yes, it would probably be gone. The service center guys will always highlight to you if data will be gone

My moneys on they wipe the phone. If stuff on the phone is important she should back up her stuff to dropbox or mega.
Its the same scenario shes in as if she lost the phone.
When it doesn't boot anymore they replace the whole sdcard most of the time.
If it's an external sd card they won't touch it, if you're talking about the internal then it's most likely wiped

Anyway to recover an accidentally deleted video

You could try diskdigger for both the PC and the one in the app store. There was one I use to use on my PC that was able to recover photos I deleted months beforehand, I can't remember what it was called unfortunately, but it would allow searching of connected devices. Best of luck!
