So this only Happens when I'm on Google chrome and I've noticed that ocassionally that the screen flickers, its not crazy annoying but definitely distracting. Have any of you had this problem?
Hopefully any of you aren't epileptic.

I totally thought that I had either 1. developed serious eye problems or 2. broke my brand new toy At least it's not just me having this problem

Hopefully the next update will resolve this problem.
so set and wait.
So I should just wait for a fix and not return it over and over to try to find a good one. It has a year warranty.
I see it too!

I turned off automatic brightness and I think that solved it. I think it was flickering when it was changing brightness.
its still there with auto off.
And with the brightness up but it so slight u have to be ocd like I am about my stuff to see it. But its easy to tell its not hardware because games like sonic CD are beautiful.

It happens to mine when its on the lowest brightness setting of when "auto brightness" is on. For now I've just set the brightness to max so I don't have deal with all the flickering.. for now.

With my settings set to Automatically lock (immediately after sleep) and power button instantly locks with a visible patter screen lock, my Nexus 7 on wake-up [pushing the power button immediately] either right after an invalid pattern code (where device then sleeps) or waiting a few seconds with no activity until the device sleeps (where the Nexus 7 fades to a black screen) will have a delay in bringing up the lock screen OR sort of flicker presenting some sort of black and white bar lines background at the bottom half of the screen for a split second before bringing up the lock screen. Is this normal or it is in fact a defect?
Thanks in advance!
Not sire about that I have seen it in 3rd patty apps on all devices before. But the flicker we are seeing is like it changing the brightness up and down.

As does mine. I think people think it goes away when not on auto, because the "low" setting is about 20-25% and auto will often bring it lower than that, making the flickering worse.
At medium brightness the problem is almost, almost, non-existant.
It's also not just in chrome as some say, just most noticable on chrome's white backgrounds. I've noticed it in any app with lighter, brighter colors. I just exchanged my Nexus 7, and the new one has the exact same problem. This leads me to think the software problem is the most correct answer.
I get it every once in a while. Full brightness set, no automatic. Ill wait for a fix, doesn't bug me too bad.

I suspect it to be a software problem because in game it looks great. Plus in a new device like this software problems go with the territory.

And mine as well I noticed my screen flickered when my batt was getting down to 10% and my brightness level was at about 1/3. But now its charged and I don't see it flickering yet. I don't know...with Chrome having a bug (lags when scrolling) and the flickering screen...I may be returning my unit? I really hate to because aside from my issues, it's an awesome device!
Don't take it back they well fix it with a update.

I've not seen it mentioned, but I want to know if others have noticed.
So far all 3 of my CK60 devices have this. Originally I thought it might have been the app Thumb Keyboard. But my other two without the app display the same.
At about 1 inch from the right side edge of the display portion of the screen, a vertical black line will flash. I've only really noticed it while browsing. Not entirely sure it's not just an issue in Chrome, as I also have the stock ICS browser installed, but only use that to view flash videos.
Each has been unlocked and rooted, it's so random and happens so rarely that I couldn't remember to diagnose it pre-root/unlock..
Anyone else notice this?
Would like to know if something common, before erasing my unit to test clean stock.
I will get the random black line flash on some apps. Such as XDA, and chrome. Doesn't ever happen on a homescreen, or in game or anything.
Don't bother with wiping, it won't do you any good.
Same here. Think it's a software problem.

Thanks for chiming in guys, appreciate it, it doesn't "really" bother me, but it is a "glitch". Good to know.
delete me
Yea I have the same problem also this is the second replacement.... screen flicker on the first now on this I get the screen flicker and lines on CK60 device
I flashed Motleys kernel for the performance but it also got rid of the flashing black line. I didn't really think about until yesterday when I realized I haven't seen it happen in a couple days now ever since I flashed it.

It use to flash on my tapatalk, Facebook and chrome browser but the kernel seemed to fix it.
What are we referring to as CK60

I noticed it first day I started playing with my Nexus 7.
I also have the screen flickering problem, but I'm pretty sure they are completely unrelated.
Hopefully there will be an update to fix it.
I flashed the motley kernel and it stopped.

Flashing black lines?!?!?
Yep, same thing here. It isn't a huge deal, as it's just a split second flash. My only concern is that it may get worse as time progresses. I REALLY hope Google is working on some patches to address some of these Software issues.
Other than that, I am very satisfied with my Nexus 7, it's an excellent buy!
Google, please, you guys need to really tighten up your SQA department!
-Android1126-
Make sure to read the instructions before doing this. It does take care of the black line for me I haven't seen it in over a week now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775798
Also over clocking isn't needed to get rid of the line flash. It is a nice feature to have. And for the GPU I would suggest the 484... Also be sure to give motley a "thanks" for his work.

I am seeing the same thing on my C70. I also sent in a support request to ASUS and directed them here. Will post back if/when they reply with something useful.
Noticed a horizontal black line flash across the bottom while in portrait mode. Happened while on xda a few days ago. Haven't seen it since

I don't know if screen flicker and screen dimming are the same thing but I encounter a similar issue whenever brightness is below 30 percent.... Other than that my Nexus is flawless besides a rare notification freeze

So, if mine is also called a screen flicker, how do I fix it?
When my N7 screen went all black out, I have to use a torch towards my N7 screen sensor to have the screen bright up again

I just got mine yesterday. Not rooted but I noticed if the screen auto turns off....sometimes it is locked up. Hitting the power button won't do a thing. Have you had this problem?

Yes, i have this problem too. Then when I have no torch beside me for the sensor, i would need to press power button for 10sec+ for a reboot. How suck it is. This is the only thing bugging me on N7

hey!
if it is the same issue as i have (screen turns off in auto brightness or manually set the brightness to minimum), i dont think it is an hardware issue.
i think the minimum background light is set wrong in the system.
also i dont think it is hardware related, because many other owner af a n7 are reporting this issue.

tegra prism toggle
(costs about 1$, needa root)
maybe it helps
testcenter, thanks for the recommanded app, but i not wanna root at this moment.
I guess in the mean time just not using auto brightness and pray for not dim out again

Hey
I have been having some problems with my nexus 4.My screen keeps randomly zooming in at random times. It has happened while typing on the keyboard and also while interacting with apps. Anyone know any possible causes of this.
I have included some screen shots to show the issue.
