[Q] Bluetooth Issue - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was transferring files from my galaxy nexus to the nexus 4 and i found that if you are connected to wifi while sending a file through bluetooth the wireless will drop out completely until you turn the bluetooth off.
I have tried this with a couple of other phones that can send bluetooth files to the nexus 4 and it is the same every time. It can scan and detect the wifi however it will not connect to it.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or can anyone replicate it?
This was using the JOP40C and using the stock kernel. I have not tried it with franco's kernel.

Nexus 7 can pair but won't connect with BT

I had originally paired my Nexus 7 with my DHD such that they were paired with BT, and at any time I can connect to the DHD from the Nexus and I would have internet access on the tablet.
On the DHD, in addition to the blue BT icon, I would also have a BT tethering notification on the top left of the status bar.
This morning, all that changed – for seemingly no reason.
I could connect fine, but the BT tethering icon was not there on the DHD. The tablet would connect, but it reported that the internet connection was not available.
I tried unpairing and pairing, and rebooting both devices.
Since then, the problem has significantly worsened.
I can still see and pair both devices fine. The pairing code comes up on both devices and I am able to confirm that the codes match and the pairing appears to work. That's where my success ends. I tap on the device to connect, and it says "connecting..." for a few seconds, and then returns to the original, unconnected state. If I touch the device again to connect, it will not only flash up for a fraction of a second "connecting..." and revert back.
This happens regardless if I try to connect to the tablet from the phone, or vice versa.
I figured the BT stack must have been corrupted somehow on one of the 2 devices, so I tried pairing the tablet and phone to my dad's Galaxy Nexus and also his Nexus 7. I can pair anything to anything, but can't connect from anything to anything.
I am rooted on both my devices, but neither of his.
I tried the program "Bluetooth fix repair" from play store, which requires root access, which claims to fix some bluetooth problems. I tried it on both the tablet and phone. After a restart, I notice it has reset my bluetooth settings like the device name, etc. It didn't fix the problem. I can still pair the tablet to the phone, but can't connect.
Any ideas what may have happened and how I can fix it?
Tablet is running stock jellybean with root, and phone is running AOSPx BR3 from XDA.
I've run into the same issues! Trying to connect my GN to my N7 over BT shows that they pair, showing the same PIN, but won't connect. Previously, I could connect my GN to my Xoom but no longer.
I've flashed back to stock on both devices (I'll do so later on the Xoom) to eliminate as many variables as possible, and I'm still getting a connection. GN is now back to IMM76K and N7 is running JRO03D, only change is supersu on both. They connect perfectly fine to my laptop but will not connect to each other. I noticed that some people got good results by turning off WiFi but that didn't help me at all. I know BT worked on my GN because I could connect to 2 different BT units in 2 different cars.
Some people are going to ask why not use Wifi. Well, I have poor reception at home and I'd like to retain internet connection on both while using Tablet Talk (which I have yet to be able to use...).
I'm tethering via bluetooth as well. Its frustrating that when I walk away with my phone, the tablet will not auto-connect via bluetooth. I have to go back and connect the two.

I can confirm I'm having the same issue. Only way to repair is to do a full device wipe. Power on / off doesnt seem to correct.
Confirmed this is the case iwth my N7 and Galaxy Nexus Stock Rooted and CM9 Galaxy Note.
BTW reason people want to do this is because BT tethering has very low battery life cost particularly compared to wifi tethering which will flatten a galaxy nexus in ~3 hrs.
Love to hear if anyone else found a fix for this!
Try This
I had the same issue. I went into the more settings on my phone for Wireless & Networks/Tethering & portable hotspots. Make sure the bluetooth tethering is checked. After i did this i had no issues using my phone internet through BT. I have a T989 running CM9 RC2. My N7 is rooted running the stock rom. Hope this helps.

I can confirm I was having the exact same problem as everyone else and this fixed it for me. The only other thing I had to do was connect FROM the Nexus, not the phone (an HTC Sensation). Trying to connect from the phone was a no-go. Thanks!
I cant pair my Nexus 7 with my Sony Ericsson MW600 bluetooth headset.

[Q] bluetooth file transfer?

I've been trying to transfer files between my nexus 10 and my galaxy nexus, but with no luck. This is what did:
(1) turn on bluetooth on both devices, and pair
(2) go to ES file browser, long press the (plan text) file to bring up menu, then select share -> bluetooth --> ok
(3) Got a message on the notification bar saying that the bluetooth was not successful.
I am able to use my bluetooth keyboard with both devices so at least that part works. I searched this forum but I was not able find any posting on this topic; any advice on how to do bluetooth file transfer is most appreciative.

I think its a hit or miss with Bluetooth transfer. First I had the same issue as you, but when I tried later it worked without problem. I know the Bluetooth on the nexus isn't 100%, so might he a problem on that end (haven't tested the n10 Bluetooth extensively).

Thanks. Could you describe exactly what you did to successfully perform a bluetooth file transfer?
(also, an off-topic question: How is CM10.1 working out for your gnex?)
Depends on what u are trying to transfer, tried transferring an apk from my laptop to my N10 but I couldn't, transferring an apk from n10 to s2 worked tho

Nexus 7 Bluetooth Pairing issue

I am trying to get a good setup for my Nexus 7 mounted in my car, and I'm having some annoying issues with bluetooth. I have bluetooth auto connect installed, and I have paired it with my Droid Bionic before, but any time I try to connect them I have to accept a pairing request again.
I am running Timurs USB rom, and Icarus HD on my Bionic. Anyone have any ideas?

[Q] [HELP] Nexus 7 3g bluetooth tethering (as a host) to another android device

[Q] [HELP] Nexus 7 3g bluetooth tethering (as a host) to another android device
Dear all
I have got two devices:
Nexus 7 3g (2012), system 4.4 KRT16S, and it is rooted and as taughted by a post in this forum, I flashed a zip file to enable WIFI and bluetooth tethering.
Another device is Nexus 5
I want to make N7 as a host or say modem to share its internet connection to N5.
I want to use bluetooth tethering because it saves battery. What I did is paired N7 and N5, and on N7 in "settings"-"Tethering and hotspot", I enabled bluetooth tethering.
But on N5, in bluetooth, I click paired Nesus 7 icon, there is no profile icon, and no use for internet access check box.
Does any one how to make it work?
I know how to use a phone as host and let N7 to access internet via phone. It works well. But I really need to make N7 as a host and use bluetooth tethering.
Thank you very much!
Please help.
Has anyone successfully did this? Thanks a lot!
I also tried with another device, after paired with nexus 7, it also cannot see bluetooth profile where we can enable internet sharing.

[Q] Bluetooth Mouse

Hi all,
I have a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 7 (12) using Multirom to dual boot stock 4.3 and CM 10.2.2 (both devices have same build). The Nexus 4 also runs with franco/ziddey kernal for otg support.
I bought a Bluetooth mouse for my phone and it works on everything but >_<"
My laptop connects and runs the mouse no problem
My Nexus 7 runs it on both stock and CM no problem.
My Nexus 4 will connect to it but no cursor will appear!!! I love the mouse, don't think it's defective (but what do I know) and was wondering if there were any potential issues with my Nexus 4 that could be causing this malfunction.
I had a custom radio (I was having issues with Multirom) installed, so I reflashed to stock and reinstalled everything (without radio, assuming it was wiped with the rest of everything) but to no avail.
I also tried with phone disabled, and in airplane mode, but neither of those worked.
Has anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas on how it may be solved?
no helps me
Does anyone have a bluetooth mouse they have found to work on nexus 4?
