WTF!
I was playing around with voice recognition on HD2O rom quite impressed with it's accuracy and speed. I asked it to open a new text message to a friend and the frickin thing used Bing to search for "b.o.y s.e.x"! What the hell, this is sick. This sort of thing could get me sent down not to mention labelled as a sick SOB on some list for the rest of my life.
Is there any way to create a filter for speech recognition, whether it be a parental lock or manually entered strings that it will refuse to search. I'm not only sh1t scared of using speech rec again but also crapping myself about what has already been searched for through Bing.
Advice please!

Confirmed: the HD2 is a sicko. Just installed WP7.8 , after booting I told it to search for "HD2", spoken loud and clear, and next thing I know is the voice recognition is telling me "searching for 'Tasty to suck' "

Does anyone know about how long shipping is and is there anything cool i can do to it once i get it or any good apps to download? Thanks
Did you try reading ANY of the numerous threads on this forum that discuss everything you've asked?
hey c'mon, the dude is excited! this isn't an 'iphone' forum, no need to bash him!
i find it fun to 'race' the iphoners in my office with a simple 'google' search...
someone calls out a 'thing' to look up...while they are typing away, you use voice search and BAM, you smoke em.
i know, childish, however, so much fun to stick it to iphoners.
Shipping is 1-2 days and apps are easy to find once you have the phone..
As the previous poster mentioned, I would place my bet for Wednesday.
As for apps.
You can google for some decent lists. 101android ro something.(just google best android apps)
Stuff i will personally recommend.
1) Get Google voice set-up for voicemail. Extremely cool. Text transcriptions definitely give you the jist(but certainly miss some words).
2)Dolphin Browser - Multi touch web browser.
3)TaskKiller - I like the widget for killing apps I want to full close.
4) Ebuddy/Meebo for an instant messenger.
5) Live Scores for sports scores. Only one that seems to be updated quickly.(maybe 30 seconds behind sportsline.com or so)
6)BetterCut - I paid for this(2.99???). It lets you adjust your homescreen short cuts. Download icon packs and use new icons/different words etc.. Makes for cleaner home screens. Free version is Anycut.
7) AContacts - Shows your call log with exact timing. Something i prefer to normal one.
8)Beamreader - PDF viewer.
9)Gdocs - Google docs viewer basically. Useful to view MS office stuff.
10) Ring toggle - very simple ringtone/vibrate toggle thing. I like it.
11) Agend Widget - Best widget to show calendar on home screen
12) Istockmanager - If you use TD Ameritrade this program is amazing. Level 2, trading etc, all real time, charts, the works
13)Tune Wiki - A tad better then installed music player
I spent more time then i expected on this post! Anyways, you can work at setting up your calendar/gdocs/even contacts to some degree all ready through google if you want. They all sync anyways. There are a ton more awesome programs, but those are the ones I have used over the last year or 2 on android(and redownloaded for nexus one)
Congratz, your going to enjoy it! Check out the threads here for the good scoop!

lol! Actually that app would rake in millions.. Hmm.. I guess it's time to install the sdk
Pulled yesterday the update from the network with the famous trick.
I have been plying around since then and wanna share my thoughts.
Gmail push mail is working but with a huge dealy comparing it with android or iOs mail delivering. Slow
Multitasking is working only with MS app, not third party. Maybe the apps are not upadated yet but... it sucks at the moment
Social network integration is good with facebook but very complicated to use, not intuitive. Twitter is not supported and the twitter app just plain sucks... no background tweet pull neither push. A mess
Live tiles are nice but daily briefing stays static
Do not know about battery usage
Bing music search is nice but it would be nicer with the possibility of downloading songs directly
I like marketplace, fewr apps than competitor but overall good quality
IT MISS A FAST DIAL OPTION... this is an epic fail... there is no smart dialing too... so calling someone who is not in the start screen takes like 6 or 7 click. fail
If this update eas released one year ago it would be good and efficent... comparing my mango omnia7 with my sammy sgs2 is like stealing sweets to a kid...
Poor Nokia... your N9 is far better that this fruit salad...

No mango just sucks. I really don't want to see several "messages" to multitask between in the multitask screen, some is even from the same sender. How is having two "apps" to switch too Witch is identical? And when your in marketplace, going deeper into "related" and I want to search..where is the button? I have to hit back a zillion times before it appears? Oh no wait I have a actual button on my phone for that..lets press that..BING wtf? They messed up big time, can't even get my native language to the display language.

not sure about whether there is a delay in gmail, tried that and i do not notice any delay in receiving mail/sending mail via gmail.
what do you mean by third party app? can give some example so that i can try it myself? i take Whatsapp as an example, i have no issue running this app (multi-tasking), games, or whatsoever.
regarding FB, i think its individual experience. some may find it complicated / not user friendly some may find it very nice. i personally find it OK, not the best neither very good. never try twitter, hence no comment on this.
whether all tiles are "live" or not i think it doesn't really matter, of course if all tiles are "live" that would be good to have. i find battery usage on Mango is damn good, way better than iPhone or most of the android devices.
agreed with you that without smart dialing is an epic failure. i believe everybody is complaining about this and hope that it will be addressed in next release (Tango)
let's not "conclude" that Mango is a "failure" release, knowing that there are a lot of so call fundamental features supposed to be in but it weren't. Give microsoft a chance and see what they have in Tango or Apollo.
I fast dial just pressing windows button and saying "call name of person" in italian of course
using mango for 1 day is not enough to write a review from my point of view

I think you should really stop trolling in this 3d.
You are happy with mango? good for you.
You do not find annoying multitasking between single messages? Good for you.
You like searching for the search button, again good for you.
Are you a microsoft employee? If not, why you feel so frustrated with someone givin his opinions?
I can see you are a newbie on XDA and maybe you do not know that we usually review the software update and even the phones. Do you have any problem with it? Just change topic. And please stop saying that us, italians, have solutions for all the problems, it is just childish.

Battery life is depends too much on user behavior for me to judge it I just says that on android you can UV etc etc to get max battery life.

So many people/blogs all keep saying its just a copy of Siri or that voice command is useless. But what's new is that this is active all the time. E.g. You can answer a call, snooze alarm etc with just voice and no need to start an app.
AFAIK this is a first. So many things can be done and it will only get better.
Is it really completely handsfree???
Thats what I also thought when samsung described the S-voice.
But then after watching all the videos, I reckon its not completely handsfree.
For example for the lock screen, you need to first press the power button or home button to get the screen on, and then say the command to unlock it.
Correct me if I am wrong.

fair enough. but this is funny because reminds me a bit of apple - and how they said siri will only be on the 4S because the artificial intelligence algorithm requires at least a dual-core processor and what not. next thing you know it gets hacked and runs flawlessly on an iphone 2g
i would say, it's good, that the device has a lock-screen mode too, because when i have it in my pocket, i'm not interrested in starting programs or calls
but the S Voice will be for sure an awesome feature - i hope it will work for all languages fine
and about using it on different devices - i would imagine, that it could end in a developer <-> producer ping-pong same like siri?!

Has anyone tried to change their build prop to mirror GSIII ? and see if it works then, I would but the wife would have fit if I messed with her's
it is a shame it doesn't work anymore on my One X, but I don't blame Samsung for disabling it. I'm about to throw down $700 on this phone so I want it to keep its exclusives as much as possible haha.
Other than that, I would feel bad for all those people that worked together to integrated it only for it to get pirated.
So I've seen these videos online where Google Now answers pretty much any questions you throw at it (youtube vid 40+ questions or something).
The issue is all my google now seems to do when I ask it something is simply do a google search and show the results as if I had typed it =/, no cards, no voice just a plain old google search.
Is this normal for the UK version or something?
Is there some region issue where only US customers get proper google now functionality?
Not that this would surprise me based on the situation with magazines, play movies and play music.
No problems here...
Just wondering, it sounds like you are blaming Google for the lack of magazines/music/films.
You do know it's not them, it's the content publishers right? I know it's fashionable to hate Google, because Apple said so, but really......

I've had to ask mine a question 2 or 3 times for a card to turn up, rather than a Google search. (It does understand me each time as well)
If you use Google Chrome and sign into it with your Google account. Anything you type and search in Chrome is available for GNow to use. Really helps with cards and responding.
I dunno, mine is pretty spot on. I load it up, say "Google", it listens, converts to text really accurately, and gives me spot on answers. The only thing I hear her say is "Calling".
Yea I remember it speaking more then it does.

I can have this with language set to English UK.
Make sure you have g-now enabled, open g-now>settings>Google now> On(top right)
Try asking it something simple like 'what's the whether?'
Also note that currently it does not seem to work with UK sports.

I read somewhere that the G2 was one of a few phones, aside from the Moto X and the other new Droids, that has the necessary hardware to support the software Motorola uses for the Touchless Controls, the whole "Okay Google Now" thing. Has anyone tried to port this software over to the G2 yet? I bought my mother the Moto X, and have to admit the feature is pretty cool. I would do it myself, except the fact that I don't have a clue how!! So, whose butt do I have to kiss to get this thing to work on the G2? Thanks!!!!

Yea it comes in handy I mean I've used Google Now with voice searching and dictated some texts while driving so yea it would be nice feature but those times are rare since I usually just have music going in car and rarely text or take calls when driving. Still I guess if my phone was always listening for my commands it could be cool to sit it up on a table near me while I'm doing whatever and tell it what to do.
