[Q] Google Play movies not working on CM10 - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a new MB525 some time ago and installed CM 10-20120924-nightly on it straight away (with all wipes before/after flash), it's working OK I just have one annoying thing that Google Play movies don't start. I can buy them OK, download them to the phone, but they wont start. I only have the circle running in the middle of the screen showing the phone is thinking, but that is all...
Don't know if this helps, but I have another small issue that my setting changes are not saved, e.g. I installed SwiftKey3, but I have to enable it after each reboot...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

all good now
Installed 20121118 Quarx build, wiped all data/settings and is working now. Can be closed.

[Q] CM6 / CM7 - CM7 won't work.

Hey guys!
Got a little problem here!
Here's the situation, I'm perfectly able to flash CM6.10 (? - The latest stable for Wildfire anyway), but I've had no luck when trying to flash CM7. Either, it gets stuck at the white HTC splash after flashing and rebooting, or it gets stuck at the CM splash screen. The arrow just stops moving around in circles and freezes!
Not completely sure what this could be, I clear everything before I flash CM7 so ... And I ofc admit that I'm no sort of expert in this area, as almost every single flash has been perfectly fine to me, so I thought that you guys could figure this one out .
Regards
Try flashing kernel v4.1 from the HCDR.Kernel thread from the Wildfire Android Development Zone. Since you say you have cleared everything as stated by the first post in CM7, guess I wont be going into that.
I actually tried that as a last resort before going to bed yesterday, and that solved the problem! So thanks anyway, you were right !
Later on I installed the Gapps for CM7, but then when i booted my phone, i got the "Low Memory"-warning that wants you to remove some apps, and all the apps started to crash all the time. Especially the browser, not entirely sure of what's causing all this!
Hi,
I had the same boot problem and 4.1 also fixed it for me. I've not had any low memory issues but I only really have the google applications... One problem I do have is that I don't seem to be able to pair with any Bluetooth devices, I just don't get long enough to type in the PIN!
Can't post a report on the dev thread as I'm new here...
Andy
PS Which 6.10 have you been using? Did you have any Bluetooth issues?

[Q] Everything gone wrong.

It's currently 7am on monday morning, and I have college. I haven't slept at all because my [red lens] defy has been giving me problems.
I've been trying to re-flash CM7 to get a clean install of it, with no frills/apps that I've installed over time.
I've done a factory reset through CWM, and re-flashed CM7.1 from here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=umts_jordan
I've tried finding GApps for this, but to no avail. None of them install properly (CWM says they have, but actually hasn't - It's nowhere on my app drawer/home/manage apps).
I've tried adding an account to sync but when it asks what google products I want to install (such as YouTube, Maps, StreetView), it crashes mentioning "process com.teamdouche.pacman"
That's problem 1
Problem 2 is my Home and Search button no longer work! I've tried everything I could google for, but nothing has helped.
[Edit: they do vibrate, but nothing happens]
Any help on these matters would be much appreciated, as this is really annoying :/ Thanks.
Also I've just realised the apps in Manage Applications are all my old apps, even though I've actually formatted my SD card in CWM since, each has a SD card icon, and is taking up 0.00B space, but I'm just wondering how they even show there..
Did you try flashing the CM7 kernel ?
Or did you mount /system ?
Herpderp Defy.
Here's my About Phone info:

Do you have a link to the CM7 Kernel? :S
System is mounted
I've managed to get Market installed, but it only opens once, and when I try to download something it Force Closes, and then after that it force closes when I open it.
Flash stock rom for noow ....
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
dude, restore stock room, and try flashing an official cm7, what i think is that the room that you flashed is corrupted or something like that
1º: Reflash a stock room
2º: Get a official stable CM7 room ( http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=umts_jordan )
3º: Don't forget to wipe all data, cache and dalvik cache.
4º: See if that works and thank me for this
EDIT:
Here is a link to Gapps, just in case (http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip )
good luck with your defy

[Q] Paranoid Android 201312

Hello all and I hope you all had a fab Christmas!
Yesterday for the first time my Nexus4 told me that my ROM is no longer cool. It also told me there is a new ROM in town, better and slicker. I decided to try it out. Custom ROM downloaded the new ROM for me and then I wiped out my PA 3.99. Did a cache wipe and a factory reset. Installed the new ROM which was downloaded into the PARANOIDOTA folder. Now comes the funny part. I got two messages one that there is a problem with google play and another that there is a problem with services or something like that. All this messages preventing me to use the phone while I could clearly see the massive soft keys in the background. Clicking ok on these messages wouldn't do anything as they will switch from one to the other. I rebooted and cleared again and reinstalled again with the same result. Can anyone share some light why it didn't work?
I mention that I used CMR v6.0.4.3
Thanks!
I think you needed to flash KitKat gapps after flashing the new rom

[Q] problems after custom rom SOS

After installing CyanogenMod 11 my phone worked great. Had better battery life. Performed faster. But then I wanted lollipop so I installed the Google play ROM since the bell s4 ROM wasn't out yet then finally went to liquidsmooth where I started encountering video playback problems on online content but all other sound worked fine. I tried going back to the stock ram then the USB cord broke halfway through and put my phone into a weird recovery mode that said use kies. Finally I put it into download mode and flashed it with another USB. I never tested audio but the WiFi wouldn't turn on so I tried flashing modem files only for it not to work. Finally I went back to CyanogenMod 11 but the dialer crashes when I try to call. The music crashes when I try to play it. YouTube videos won't load nor will Facebook. My phone is a mess.
(BTW my phone had a little android dude on the ground with his stomach open and a little red triangle with an exclamation mark in it when booted into recovery. Idk if that means anything)
Please help, how do I fix my phone?
Do you ever wipe before flashing?

Bootloop after installing whatsapp or updating app on cm13 Resurrection Remix Rom

Hello Guys,
pls help me.. after flashing cm13 RR ... when i m installing watsapp .. bootloop occurs.. camera 360 as well, i flashed stock fimware and the flashed cm13 rr ..but no luck
same problem
I have pretty much the same issue but it's not exclusive to whatsapp, other apps send the phone into a bootloop as well, this started a while ago, I installed the cm12 last year or so and it worked great for a long time, then after a while I tried to install the spotify app and things went south, phone went into bootloop so I deleted it from recovery mode and just ignored the issue. Yesterday I installed the cm13 hoping I would get a clean slate, I did everything right, full wipe, flashed the rom, gapps, patch and front cam fix and although everything kept crashing at first ( google launcher and pixel launcher) I eventually got it working, I installed messenger, worked fine, then tried to install whatsapp and it went into a bootloop. Anyone please help us.

I have the same issue on CM12. Phone get stuck in boot-loop after installing whatsapp latest version. I was able to get out of boot-loop after I deleted whatsapp app.
Its very important to use whatsapp. Please any fix for this?
I couldn't find a fix. The best you can do move to nougat ROMs like aicp or crdroid.
I installed crdroid and it's excellent
I too am now stuck on boot loop due to Whatsapp.
I do not need this app and will happily delete it, if this is what is causing the issues, but my problem is, how do I delete it now that I am stuck in a boot loop?
Enter safe mode and delete the app.
It's better to remove cm12 and install new ROM crdriod

Thanks for the reply.
This may sound a bit noob, but how do I get it into safe mode?
I have an Xperia Mini Pro SK17i
I managed to get it into recovery mode earlier, but cannot seem to get into safe mode
Yeah!
It happens in 5.1 / 6 custom roms!
Can any body help ??!!!
You need to read this thread. Every CM rom compiled before 2018 will have this problem.
