I went to open a PowerPoint file and my nexus 4 gave me the option of using quick office. It worked fine
The odd thing is that quickoffice is not in my app list at all...
It is only the viewer version and has no editing. Google now own quick office and the normal app is not in the store anymore
Wonder if left this in by mistake or by design?
Do other have the app as well? ( you need to open an office for to see the option)
its in the apps control panel, its a system app

See it there too
Though not in the app drawer
IIRC, I think they've had this bundled in since the Nexus One.
Would make sense if it was included. Google technically owns them now.
That is nice
I prefer Kingsoft Office

There is a thread in the Development section that outlines this, link is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818789
It uses QPST to edit the encoded information in phone.
I would like to add, for must have apps, Loot is the best free checkbook type app I've found. Also, if you've rooted, Adfree is a MUST, as is AutoKiller. I've saved a ton of money using the Coupon App. Youtube ripper is great for saving vids to phone, subsonic lets you tap your home music resources from phone, ROM Buddy is great for your emulator needs. And, MP3 Download is great for on the fly music downloads.
I installed Launcher Pro but it wouldn't open. I am rooted and not sure what the &#[email protected] I have done to my phone.

Which is the best office suite for android
documents to go or office suite 6 ( or any other app) ?
Using Arc S with official ICS
Office Suite Pro 6 from MobiSystems is REALLY good...
It was recently on offer for 69p, but it's well worth the proper asking price.
Try kingsoft. I find that awesome..
And it is completely free.

You can also check out CloudOn, it uses MS Office over the internet. Great if you need all the features etc. It also auto syncs with your dropbox, box and google drive accounts
Try smartoffice.
I'd go with Quickoffice.

Have tried QuickOffice and Documents To Go, I believe DTG is better.
I believe that all of them are going quite the same job u just need to find the interfaceu like
So far I've only tried OfficeSuite, but most of the interfaces are the same.
And to be honest, it is so difficult to work with phones on them, since you don't have all the tools you'll get on a computer.
Either way for small editing or checking some files, OfficeSuite will do the work.
My Brother just picked up the Nexus 7 with 4G. He's an iPhone guy switching over slowly.
Anyways, he asked me for some good Widgets. I said an Android classic is the "News and Weather" genie widget. He said that's not on this tablet. I told him to look under apps, for News and Weather, and sane under the Widget tab. He said nope, not there.
Did Google remove that classic Widget ?

Anyone ?
I don't own the Nexus 7 myself. Just a Galaxy Nexus, and a Note 2 running CM10.1 and the "News and Weather" genie widget is standard.
Is it not installed on the Nexus 7 ?

Nope not installed on the nexus 7. I read somewhere on here Google does not support it any more or something like that?
I've tried to side load the apk file to my n7 many times with no success.
However I am running clean ROM inheritance 3.2 and it comes with the ROM.
I am new to all this stuff. This is what I don't understand, the app is listed as transperent. It does not show up in titanium backup and I can't find it with root explorer.
I have no idea what is going on with this app.
I hope someone can clear this up

What do you all think is the best calendar app for the Note 10.1?

Hi,
I have used Touch Calendar for my phone and currently also for my Note 10.1, works perfectly and has all features I need.

I've tried most of them and I find s-planner to be the best of the available options. acalendar is also quite good but I like the integration with touchwiz so it's s-planner for me

I think that also FranklinPlanner Note 10.1 (presently available only on SamsungApps store and not for all countries) could be an interesting choice (see this xda's thread)
Maybe the app is still a little juvenile and needs some improvements but it has a great UI and design (tough rather complex to learn) and a greater integration with handwritten notes than S Planner.
Best calendar App for Note 10.1?

Resize it. I use Apex launcher. It's not a true full page.
What about Pocket Informant?
They were the only game in town worth mentioning in the Pocket PC days.
I use Touchdown Exchange. Looks a lot like Outlook,, also it supports categories, That is a feature most other calendars lack.
And it syncs to exchange, so if you have hotmail or outlook.com email, you are always synced!
Google calendar.
Nothing else i have ever used has come close to what it can do.
Best calendar widget goes to Android Pro Widgets, however.

I am using it on my phone and my tablet. I have been a user since the palm version and then the ppc. The current android version only shares the name with the good old one. I guess I am only using it for sentimental reasons

I am looking for a calendar that I can make notes on and save the file in say dropbox or box.com so if I make a change on one device it will show on my other device. I don't want to use google calendar because I want my calendar info to be private.
Any ideas?

Not sure how much this will help, but I use dropsync to sync the SNote folder between devices and the notes get synced up. It might be possible to find the calendar data folder and then sync that between devices.

Again - Touchdown Exchange. Switchable profiles, pin, etc etc.
I'm using S calendar - syncing from exchange and gmail
I have also FranklinPlaneer, but it's not so good like stock one

Does it support Task Categories yet?
Wasn't sure what to expect so I tried it out. So... Yeah. Not impressed.

FB Home is fun to play and mess around with
but...
As a dedicated launcher it's kinda useless. It doesn't integrate with the phone UI or other apps; No widgets available either.
It's as if Mark Zuckerberg was thinking "Let's make Home an out-of-this-world experience for Facebook users; We can cram everything else into an app drawer."
Though I do think chatheads is actually a pretty useful feature if it were to include texts/emails, and not just facebook messages.
You can get Home from the Play Store. I think if you use Market Helper you can get around the 'incompatible device' stuff. Someone around here might have the APK as well.
