So, I've just got my Nexus 4 and absolutely loving it. That said, I can't for the life of me find where to take Photo Sphere's.
On my G-Nexus I just opened the camera and in the bottom left I click the little camera image and select the Photo Sphere option. There is no such option on my Nexus 4.
Anyone else has this issue?

You have to update to the OTA first to get that feature.

I just rebooted the phone and up came the update which included info on Photo Sphere. I didn't even realise.
Before the update it already said I have 4.2 installed so I thought I was up to date already.
Thanks a lot. :good:
The update is still 4.2, it just adds a few features that were still being completed (lock screen widgets, PhotoSphere and probably some other stuff).
Okay, I installed the software update on my nexus 4, it says it is up to date, yet I still do not have photo sphere or lockscreen widgets! what is up with this?
Edit: okay, going into programs and resetting the framework allowed me to recheck for updates.
Maybe tried rebooting? Happened with me, too, then it showed up later randomly.

What build number does your phone show? i
It should be JOP40C.
I am having the same problem. My version is jvp15q, and when I try to update it says I'm up to date. When I first got the phone and it said there was a update, it started updating but it had an error message. Not sure if that's related.
Download the factory ROM from Google and fastboot system.img & boot.img

One problem that I have with my Nexus is the gallery.
After taking pictures,
and I attempt to delete a picture or two, or how many ever,
it deletes and I have confirmed it, however, when I close gallery,
and go back into gallery, the pictures are still there..
Anyone having similar problem?
It happened in 2.3, and even after update, its still happening.
Yes, I just noticed this tonight. It was fine before the update.
mine happened in 2.3, and I was hoping that 2.3.1 or
the next OTA would fix it, but 2.3.1 is now doing the same thing.
Glad to know that I'm not the only one who's going through this
issue... (I don't mean this in a bad way. )
No issues here, I have 2.3.1 and have been deleting lots of test pictures and they don't come back.

I seriously wonder what the problem is..
its kind of irritating me..
It happened to me before the update. Also if I selected a picture it would show a different pic from a different album. Email pic attachments downloaded clear the next day I checked it and all my downloads were blurry. I downloaded the picture again and went to the gallery and they were all clear again. Weird

Can anyone else confirm this?
Dead picture of rat that I took nearby my house, on the
first day when I got NS is still on there, and won't delete.
After flashing EB01 and opening the camera, it informed me I had an incorrect firmware version. The message had a button that took me to a screen to update the firmware.
Nothings changed.
Funny thing is, I was looking at launcher pro's shortcut crap, and noticed I could make a shortcut right to a feature of an app on the device, and I saw something to do with cropping under the camera stuff (which is why I went and opened it, I thought it was a new feature added by EB01.)
So would the knowledgeable people please tell us what the firmware changed, and if the camera does in fact have the ability to crop images?
Firmware has changed. I had to update mine too.
DL30 had a firmware change which made a few adjustments (you can see most, I believe, on the DL30 notes). I've not heard anything about DL30 -> EB01 requiring a firmware update for the camera... were you on DL30, or an Eclair rom?

I was on Elcair Rom before going to EB01 and received the same message, but no way to update it. Anyone know how we are to update the firmware?
There should be a prompt to update the firmware when you launch the Camera app. Choose the only option with "Write" in the title. You'll need to reboot after install.
Thanks so much, I wasn't sure which update to choose!
When I went from DL30 to EB01, I got the message a second time that my camera firmware needed to be updated. Just click yes, and on the next screen you choose to flash from phone to camera (it's the last of three options, don't remember exactly what it said).
I imagine EB01 has the same camera firmware update as DL30 did. Not sure why it had to be flashed a second time going from DL30 --> EB01.
On a side note, I love the camera in 2.2. Extremely fast. Takes next to no time at all to snap a pic now.
The firmware update enables geotagging and also shows a thumbnail preview of the last image taken on the camera screen

ALSO we can PAUSE our video recording! You hit pause, then it stops recording, then hit the button again and it starts recording again where you left off, all as a single file!
That's gonna come in handy. I can't tell you how many times I've combined videos in windows movie maker when the pause button would have done the trick to begin with
but sadly, you can't turn the screen off when paused, so if you're planning on keeping a whole wedding or something limited to one file, prepare to drain the battery quick

You could do this on Eclair. I'm on DJ05 and can do it (literally just tested to be sure). The sound takes a brief moment (250ms? hard to guess by ear) to come back in, but the video shifts instantly upon unpausing.
Changes on the camera are GREAT!!
I am loving the 2.2 leak on my phone. phone is stable and runs better.
As the title suggests, I can no longer take screenshots with my nexus 4. I have screenshot ux, and it worked great until I updated to 4.2.2. Now, I can still take screenshots, but they just come up black. I have tried to reinstall the program, with no luck. Should I get a different screen shot program instead, or is there a known bug or something? I would rather not just abandon this app, since I am pretty sure I paid for the pro version.

You don't have to use any app, as Android has supported native screen shots since ICS. Just press and hold power and volume down.
Maybe the native screenshots and your app are conflicting since 4.2.2.
Hi everyone! Seems like Alcatel has released yet again, another performance update! This new update, build number 7SRA-UEA2 has the following changes:
General Performance Improvement: Overall software enhancements aimed at improving device responsiveness and overall user experience
IPv6 Support: Device now fully supports the Internet Protocol version to IPv6
Snapchat Performance Fix: Addresses crash issue when using Snapchat app that arose when users would swipe while selecting filters
Facebook Messenger Performance Fix: Users can now share recorded audio files via Facebook Messenger
Camera FV-5 Lite Application Fix: Fix that addresses the rear-facing camera functionality when using the Camera FV-5 Lite application
Also, Band 12 LTE is still enabled after this update. I can also confirm that the filters/crashing issues with Snapchat are indeed solved. Feel free to reply with your own experience below!
It would be nice if TCL would give a release date for an actual Android update.
I just got the update. Scrolling performance seems better and stock camera seems better. Anyone else notice any improvements?

What do you mean by freezing? Did you just install the update? My phone was freezing after the update just finished. It takes awhile for the phone to finish the initial configuration. After about 5mins. My phone started to work again.

Nah, everything is working perfectly
Just got notification of the update. Need to charge my phone before downloading and installing it.
Want to read more reactions to this update also.
It was freezing for me right after the update finished. A few reboots later, it appears to have stabilized. The Recent Apps still has the lag - but other than that it is flying now ! I had to revert the animations to 1x !

Yeah recent apps still has lag, but I can live with that. As long as Alcatel keeps up with the updates.

I already had the Flip Cover option in my 6045Y since I first booted it (10-ish september, I guess?).
However, I can't install the OTA because I'm rooted, is there any system image or ZIP to just flash it? I don't care if I have to format it, I just don't want to unroot it to be able to install it.

It's to your advantage to actually INSTALL the update. Update's make changes to more partitions than just System and Boot which is what the TWRP images restore..they are great for fixing a hosed system partition but if you use them all the time you are going to miss out on newer radio drivers and other changes which may be required for things to work smoothly.
Do a full unroot from within supersu config...reboot...download and install the update...after sucessful reboot you can reflash TWRP(if replaced by factory recovery) and then flash the supersu zip file to re-enable root.
Instagram is still a stuttering mess.
GPS Icon bug and AM/PM lock screen misalignment are still present. Can't believe those two easily fixed things have made it past 3 updates.

This update thoroughly fixed the issues with Snapchat filters - works great now - but the stutters scrolling through Instagram are my one glaring issue with this phone. Also most videos in my Instagram feed won't play immediately and repeatedly flash a "repeat" or "play again" icon while loading the video, only to have most of the videos never actually play. I've never seen this app behavior on other Android phones.
Regarding the lock screen, I could swear they reduced the font size on the clock with this update (or I'm just now noticing the AM/PM misalignment?).
Can anyone confirm if this update fixed the wake-in-pocket issues some people were experiencing? I haven't had enough time to test.
i downloaded the update where is it located? so i can dig it up with es file explorer
Welp, phone unrooted, still can't find any update whatsoever. I'm using a "french" 6045Y BTW.
Any clue here?
PS: Flamewolf, a .zip package can also edit partitions on it's own accord, just because normal CROMS don't do that, it doesn't mean they CAN'T.
For practical example, just check out sdmerge for the E400. Do you think those .zip use magic to add 1 GB to your phone?
Still no update for 1st or second update in Eastern Europe (Croatia/Serbia/Bosnia)

I doesn't have the update, I'm using a 6045Y (French).
I stupidly updated the stock camera app via apkmirror and it must've been for a different phone as my camera app now looks like in the screenshot below.
How do I fix this? How do I revert back to the official nougat camera app?
If the new camera updated the stock camera, go into your application manager (in the Settings), find the camera and disable it.
After a prompt, it should uninstall the updates and leave just the stock camera.
Reenable after its finished, and you should be good to go.

It's just that it was huge compared to normal compare the screenshot below to the original one and you'll see. (View pictures fullscreen on your phone to see it clearly)
