DONT BLAME ME FOR A DESTROYED PHONE!!
Edit: perhaps de wiki can help? http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001
If you are updating over kies you can always take it back to Samsung to get it fixed

But that works only through recovery right. i dont have a recovery installed. could you suggest a method to flash a recovery ? (The device is available in download mode)

Did you try the Kies Emergency Firmware Recovery option ?
I was thinking. Mbr in windows means Master Boot Record. If you get an mbr error i think its related to your bootloader.
Try to reflash your bootloader via odin or cwm.

I was trying to reflash Stock Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 stock ROM via Odin but it got stuck, had to restart phone and got the yellow triangle telling that firmware upgrade encountered an error and asked me to use Kies to recover it. I used Odin again to flash CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.tar.md5 instead as PDA, now after completion of the process, I get an endless loop of rebooting with the Red android background logo and CF message.
I'm unable to access Download mode nor recovery! Did I brick my phone?!
Any tips to recover this issue? Please help!

if you cant get into download mode then yes i believe you have :S but if you find a way to get into download mode you could just flash back using odin and putting the stock fw in the PDA section.
I have the GT-I9505, I tried to root it with CF-Auto-Root @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39901375 at first,
but it failed, then I had the error "firmware upgrade encountered an issue". After this, I tried many ways using differents odin versions to flash but noone worked, everytime I tried the result was "Complete(Write) operation failed."
Can anybody help me please ? T.T
does it boot to recovery or download mode ??
It can reboot on download mode, but not on recovery...
I just tried to flash it to make him able to boot on recovery mode but it says "Complete(Write) operation failed", the same error message when I try to flash it on a official rom...

If you can reboot in download mode, try to flash a stock rom with odin. it should work. that's how rom's must be flashed with odin, not in recovery mode.

do u have the drivers installed??? download a different stock firmware for your i9505.. and try two ,three firmwares if still failing,, you can get firmwares from http://www.samfirmware.com
and try to flash using Odin make sure your drivers are working also removing Kies if you have as it could interfere..
My device is currently stuck in a bootloop with:
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
I've loaded up Kies and it sees my phone is there and tries to connect but will sit there for a few minutes and then says that I need to reboot the device (this doesn't help either, same every time).
I'm unable to boot my phone in to recovery mode. However I am able to boot into download mode. So I've tried flashing root and/or CWM onto it but it fails each time. As does trying to flash stock firmware (or so I believe that's what "I9505XXUBMEA_I9505OXABMEA_I9505XXUBMEA_HOME.t ar" is).
I've searched and found some people suggesting that I try and flash a stock ROM through Odin, but unable to find one in a .tar or .tar.md5 format
I'm completely stuck now and unsure what to do. Can somebody please help me out.

Thanks mate. Trying a different copy of the stock FW now.
my devide stuck on download mode i have the lastest update please help!!!
If you haven't done anything with Odin, you can usually just force reboot by holding Power + Home key for a few seconds. Other than that, we'll need more details. .
Indeed, we need some more details. Also, another member said that he was able to get his to boot by manually and intentionally entering Download mode, and then using Vol-Down key to boot normally from there. Check out his post here.
i turn on my s4 and show this message

Did you do anything to your phone before you got this error? Like we're you rooted, try to install a custom recovery, install a kernel, etc. The more info you can give will help.
use kies to recovery

If what you're saying is: You had MF3 firmware and attempted to use Odin (Kies) to return to stock... then you might benefit from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360859
I was L17(5.0) Dr Ketan's ROM. I had done all the flashing on TWRP.
Today when i tried to go to recovery, it landed on stock recovery and not TWRP.
And when rebooted the phone it constantly gave me error messages one by one that "Unfortunately, ... service has stopped"
My first question is TWRP won't work on android 5.0?
I tried flashing TWRP through odin but it failed and gave this error: Complete(Write) operation failed
Did i do something wrong?
All help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Edit: Now when i try to go to recovery/reboot it says firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Go to recovery in Kies
All i did was unsuccessfully tried to flash twrp/cwm.
I got the same error, when I was trying to flash TWRP2.8.3.0 via odin. I corrected issue by by trying to go back to download mode and flashing another recovery.. as I remember.
Please check whether you can go to download mode??

I can go to download mode but I'm unable to flash CWM also.. can you give the recovery which you flashed?
I was trying to flash a modem/bootloader for my phone after the initial flash of a new ROM and the Odin failed to flash the modem and my phone is now stuck in a
" Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try Again. "
However, Kies doesn't recognise my device (I use a custom ROM before the one I was trying to flash as well) and I cannot do anything to my phone right now. What do I do? I cannot even get it into recovery mode to restore my phone or try to flash the modem again.
I tried the Kies emergency recovery mode but my phone is not displayed there and it says my phone isn't compatible with Kies 3, so trying the normal samsung Kies right now.
Anyone with a recovery code for the Samsung N-910G?
Need some help please!
EDIT: Solved the problem by flashing the modem and bootloader again and works this time round.
