there is no such thing as perfect kernel or perfect configuration,
the factors that can determine the amount of battery usage depends heavily on the nature of the usage under the user itself,
most kernels with undervolt support and underclocking will do fine,
i'd suggest you try out tweaks and preferences yourself since no one can guarantee you an exact time frame,
but i'll give you mine,
ROM: WP8 Monochromatic 5.1
Kernel: Built-in rom (savie's)
Tweaks: Built-in rom
Scaling freq: 156min 624max
CPU Governor: ondemandx
reduced all bloatwares even gmail and maps,
Battery Time (heavy usage): 4hrs max (medium usage): 1-1.5 day max (minimal usage) 2-3days max
that's just about it,
please take the time to conduct a research on what is your best prefered battery saving method,
don't call anyone stupid,
it's bad and potato disapproves
Rom doesnt matter really if you manage the applications well.
Use kuros kernel + kuros tweaks. Thats the best battery saving combo Ive tried.
For governor, use ondemand, the most battery efficient governor and use deadline for i/o

Not really. Change between Merruk #206 and kuros latest, you can really notice the battery drain difference. Its battery efficient than stock kernel in my tests.
Here u go:
Before all id reccomend updating the software to the latest version xD
Use the latest white kernel
Use v6 supercharger and some other tweaks
Reduce the screen brightness
Lower the system volume in the sounds options
Disable animation
Disable auto-sync
Disable backup settings
Disable roaming ^^,wifi, mobile internet, bluetooth when you dont use it(gps even if turned on allways is only actually active when theres a open app that uses gps ^^)
Disabling more sound effects will make it ugly and not cool lol,so do as u wish with thease:
Keyboard sounds
Lock screen sounds and vibration
set a boot frequency in set cpu like:
312-832,conservative,sio
Set up proper profiles in set cpu like
Screen off
312-312,powersave,noop
Charging
312-832,ondemand,sio
Battery 50 F
312-832, conservative,noop
Battery <16
312-832, conservative, noop
here just take my setcpu profiles, i made it in setcpu 3.07 just put it in the root of your sdcard and in setcpu enable profiles and click on restore profiles and click on that

Here are some build.prop tweaks
ro.ril.power.collapse=0
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=4
dalvik.vm.startheapsize=4
this one is alredy in v6 supercharger ;P
pm.sleepmode=1
remove some useless apps that u dont use but their allways running in the background(yeah remove anything u will never use)
Google maps
email(not gmail)
software update
and buying a new, better battery isnt a bad idea too ? is it (obviously xD)
I hope i Helped, this and some of my other build.prop tweaks made my battery go like lol xD it was lasting so long idk how much was it
Thank you all! Thanks so much guys!:good:

the correct one is "dalvik.vm.heapstartsize". dalvik.vm.startheapsize is not exist. nevertheless, this script only work for ICS. GB based rom doesnt have these prop. please be carefull with any prop for virtual memory like this one. if you clean your dalvik-cache you might ended up in bootloop.
Lots of information.
Thanks guys.

As android builds are getting more and more closer to being daily builds, one of the standing issues that remains is battery life.
This thread is where posts concerning How to Save battery should go. NOT Questions, but suggestions. If your suggestion is one to look into, it will be added to the OP.
UPDATE: You can now use ALL GOVERNORS For the CPU! (Read more to find out how) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SetCPU
SetCPU, is an app more commonly used for over/under clocking devices.
This short tutorial will show you how you get the app,
get it running, and of course save battery!
*YOU NEED A ROOTFS.IMG THAT GRANTS YOU ROOT ACCESS!*
1. Get SetCPU
A. Download it from *HERE*. (The only XDA thread I could find for it)
OR
B. Support this great application and get it from the Android market by searching for SetCPU.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Getting the App working
1. Once you have the application installed, launch it from your drawer and either grant it Root Permissions or it may auto-configure.
2. Hit Auto Detect Speeds.
3. It should show you the speeds your device it currently running at, now move over to [Profiles] and click Enable and if you want click on Notification.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Make your profiles
1. Sleep Profile - 384 Max/245 Min- Interactive setting
(It may seem high, but this keeps it so that your device wakes up quickly)
2. Battery < 30
Max 614/460 Min- Interactive/Conservative Setting
*Try out the SetCPU Widget!*
If you have any personal settings that you think might be better than these please do post!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 9/15 ALL CPU Governors!
To use the modules use this kernel built from the GIT, and hit auto detect speeds on SetCPU again. Under the main tab choose Your preferred setting..
You can find what all the the kernels differ in in the further pages of this thread, I will update OP later.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Advanced Tab
20000 Sampling Rate
30-50 Up Threshold (THIS IS THE KEY: This means when your CPU load hits 30%, it will scale up the mhz. If the phone still responds too slow for your taste, set this lower)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=777921
Check Set on Boot (And Apply)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turning off Background Services and Adjusting Brightness
Things like Bluetooth, WiFi, Sync, GPS, and excessive brightness can really kill your battery.
A quick way to manage these settings is to hold down to add a widget on your home screen and choose [Power Widget].
This stock widget allows you to quickly see the service's your using, and the farthest one to your right allows you to switch between four brightness settings.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Using that new kernel link provided, you'll get a nice boost in standby time too! Enjoy!
Additional battery saving tips:
* Don't use a live wallpapers
* Turn off 3G connectivity (Eclair-based ROMS need apps like APNDroid to do so)
* Turn off Background-enabled data transfers in the Sync page.
the app screebl is a battery saver for whenever you have your screen on.
MOD EDIT:
Screebl Pro is a PAID FOR APP..
Link deleted and warning given please do not post warez in the future.
Mark.
Is that a Paid application from the Market? If so it is warez. (Big No-No)

Yeah, I'm using SetCPU 2.01 with Dan's v1 vanilla froyo fine. When set to use "ondemand" CPU Governor and Autodetect speeds, getting much better battery life - it's only dropping ~1% every hour now EDIT: when idle, of course

Happy to help!
Next thing (when I get around to it) is probably to try out the Conservative CPU Governor module... that will correctly scale CPU power according to load (ie. 245mhz => 384, etc) instead of like On Demand, where it jumps from 245mhz => 998mhz => lower....
ATK

Use Taskiller. Red Icon in the market. Free App is the exact same as the paid one. Kills tasks as well but detects tasks that ATK cant. Includes features like End apps once screen turns off and kill all apps 10sec's after boot. Great App IMO.
I've found out that JuiceDefender does a good job as well. If you buy the extension (UltraDefender?) it also has a CPU governer module which regulates your CPU speed based on usage.

No need to pay - as I mentioned before, the "conservative" cpu governor module that is freely available (do a search!) will do exactly what you mentioned when used with SetCPU.
hello.
could you help me to chose economy kernel for my device i9000.
i need more working time on my device.
thx for answers
Well, if you are willing to sacrifice some power you could underclock with Damian's ultimate kernel and as well undervolt (whatever your phone can handle)
apart from changing the kernel, have you tried tasker? this app can really help you to save some battery...
I dont no about Kernels But ive heard 'insanity' ROM is amazing on battery life without losing speed and features.
check for it under development and see what Kernel people are using with it.
i try to underclock CPU but program that i use cant use all frequency only 100 - 500 mhz.
can you give me advice what program can underlock CPU and good task killer.
i need much web serfing

as for now, try damian's kernel, underclocking setting is in the recovery menu. As far as I know, he is working on an app for the new kernel but just try version 1.1
Concerning task killers, I found out that they do more harm than good. Don't use them...
The problem with web surfing is that the display is on all the time (what else?!^^) and it consumes a lot! there is not much one can do about it...
how can i reduce consamption of display? can i change white color on black in browser? to reduce consamption of energy?

I assume you have already set brightness to minimum, in addition you could use the app "screen filter" which makes the display even darker but then it is only readable in the dark.
Do you set your brightness to automatic ?? thats a big help
As for changing display color i dont know if thats possible, unless you can find a themed version
EDIT: sorry just noticed the above post

lagfix will always reduce battery life, but the more updated lagfixes use less, but still use more than stock.
Have you got the app "juicedefender" thats a good app and i have been using it daily for months.

I ran some test cycles with speedmod and ultimate kernel with both standard file system and converted system. Therefore, I can say that just changing the filesystem does not influence battery life in any way noticeable.

as i know One Click Lag Fix APK change only file system?
its not MEGA improvement but the donate version has more options. what it does is cuts off all connectivity on screen off, so nothing is being used when it shouldnt be.
its really good IMO, and the partner to the app is 'juice plotter' this will identify what running processes are happening when the phone is idle, allowing you to modify to save battery life a little more. another similar app which is also good but a little hard to understand is 'task identifier' this is similar to juice plotter,
it tells you what apps and processes are starting up automatically. Over night i found 48 processes happening when i was sleeping. THAT drains battery
What exactly are your battery stats?
how long does your phone last on one charge? how long is the display on? how long do you call?

I like speedmod's modification on screen brightness that allows for even lower brightness than I got from voodoo kernel. No idea if other kernel has such feature.
on one full charge i get roughly 2 days.
display is on automatic and i make about 5 - 10 calls a day, and text all day, i manually push emails every few hours and browse the market / xda / youtube for a few hours a day.
Im not a heavy user, but i play alot of games ( especially angry birds ) im more than happy with my battery usage.
Im also on the JQ1 modem, if this is of any use.
If you want to use screen filter, leave the brightness at automatic and it is great in all but the brightest sunlight. I use auto brightness and 60% filter to good effect. You can create a widget, so it can be turned off if required. It also plugs in to Tasker if you want to set up automatic profiles.
Also, the Super Optimized Kernel is worth a look. Each OC/UV value can be completely customized (unlike DamianGTO's kernel, which relies on a series of presets), using the "Voltage Control" app.
I would stay away from Ext4 lagfixes if battery life is of upmost importance. That said I use lagfixes and am torn between JFS and Ext4 with 'unsafe' mount options (selected in recovery). EXT4 with 'safe' mount options uses far too much battery IMO.
JFS is somewhat unstable, and EXT4 'unsafe' can become corrupt after an improper shutdown. The battery life with ext4 'unsafe' is slightly worse than JFS, but you get a corresponding slight increase in performance. Try each for a day if you go that route before choosing, but for the reasons described above be prepared to reflash in case of disaster...
hello everyone
i have a quick question
is it true i shouldn't use setvsel with CM7?because i just read that in the FAQ thread for CM7 here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065798
and i need setvsel because i use it to undervolting and also i don't to overclock my cpu to 1Ghz since 800mhz can handle all the games i play and im getting 1900-2100 score in quadrant on stock cpu speed
and if i can't use it or shouldn't what program should i use ??since cpu settings in cm settings doesn't include undervolting
(although i've been use it on CM7 rom for 3 days now and i didn't have any trouble)
thanx in advance
appreciate your help guys
Hi there,
CM7 RC0 has the CPU clock speeds & Vsel in the bootmenu where you can overclock, undervolt, change the governor etc.
If you reboot your phone & go into the bootmenu when the blue led comes on then you can access the overclock menu.
There's more info in Quarx's thread in the dev forum

I used it in froyo but since flashing CM7 RC0 I only use the bootmenu for CPU settings.

I used the same settings that peetr_ used in the post I've linked to above. It uses the smartass governor.
It appears that there's different settings depending upon which governor is selected:
eg; for the smartass governor then in the overclock settings list the settings that start with _smt are relevant,
interactive governor _int,
ondemand governor _ond, etc.
Think that's how it works

No problem pleased I could help
I left the bootmenu cpu frequencies as to what they were but undervolted them slightly.
300/22, 600/34, 1000/54 - I tried many settings using setvsel when running froyo so I know these work fine for me.
As for the other settings I just used those that peetr_ posted for the smartass governor & it seems to run nicely. Haven't had any issues yet

btw...when i used the values in the post you gave me the phone was running without any issues but if you open setvsel and looked at the cpu it keeps changing from 300 to 1000 even if you are not doing anything but if you used the ondemand scale governor you will notice that if you are not doing anything the value stays 300mhz so im not sure that smartass is a good governor after all...or maybe its just me
anyways i think i will keep the settings like this:

[email protected]
[email protected]
also change the other values in menu like this(i think you must change them according to the values you gave your cpu in the 3 vsels):
smt_min:30
smt_max:80(although i suspect this one should be 100 but since the user in the thread you gave kept it 80 im keeping it 80 )

smt_up_min:1000000
smt__wakeup:1000000
smt_ramp:300000
ond_up_threshold:75
what do you think of these values ?
and also...can you tell my your temp in normal state and in after heavy use ?i think mine stays hot

con_down_threshold: [20] # system load in % above which drops the CPU frequency?
con_freq_step: [5] # frequency step?
con_sampling_rate: [160000] # interval (in milliseconds) between polls of the system. In fact, the intervals between changes of CPU frequency? Times in 160 seconds?
int_min_sampling_rate: [50000] # minimal interval (in milliseconds) between polls of the system. In fact, the intervals between changes of CPU frequency? Every 50 seconds?
ond_up_threshold: [86] # CPU in % above which increases the frequency of the processor.
ond_sampling_rate: [50000] # second? interval (in milliseconds) between polls of the system. In fact, the intervals between changes of CPU frequency? Every 50 seconds?

smt_max_cpu_load: [85] # CPU in % above which increases the CPU frequency
smt_awake_min_freq: [30000] # The minimum frequency of waking up?

i don't know...really..i can't seem to relate what are the values for with the available governors
my only problem with smartass governor that even if im not using the cpu the values keep changing between 300mhz-1000ghz but when im using on demand if im not doing anything with the phone the cpu stays at 300mhz but when i start using the phone(moving the screen up and down for example)the values changes to 1000ghz and when i stop the values goes back to 300mhz that's why im using on demand...but again it might be just my cpu
looks like it requires to dig more in the differences between each governor
anyway i read in the latest post in CM7 DEV thread that some people is actually using setvsel so i opened my boot menu, and went to overclock, selected set default, reboted, and installed setvsel and applied these values:
20/300
33/600
47/800
up_therhold:75
oh and btw...how's your battery life ?
Dudes, so please, quick answer:
Use SetVsel - no
use build in "overclock" settings in CM7 RC0 - yes?
Any one using CM7 RC0 bootmenu> Overclocking?
There are more values than in peters thread.
Please advise with all info/numbers according to present in overclocking bootmenu 0.8.6 values.

Yes I've got CM7 RC0 & using the bootmenu overclock.
There's many values in the menu as it depends upon which governor you have set it to so only those values relevant to that governor will be used.
For instance on Smartass governor - the values starting with _smt will apply
hello i have created some profiles for my kernel to get the best out of our device there will 2 to 3 versions of profile of the same governor
bal-balanced profile which will have a mix of performance and battery life
bat-battery profile which will give good battery life with smooth ui but not for gaming
exbat-extreme battery profile which is tuned for maximum battery life with slight lags in ui good for light usage
INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY THE PROFILES
use es,root or mix explorer
Paste the files in initd folder system/etc/initd tick all the permissions(rwx rwx rwx) then go to kamod initd section and execute the profile you want you will get a confirmation message that the profile has been applied please keep only one set of governor profiles in intit folder to avoid problems
SMARTMAX GOVERNOR QUAD PROFILES
based on @Stylo King
in these profiles all the cores will be online all the time except 1 in sleep if you have late wake up problem try increasing suspend max frequency in msm limiter and suspend_ideal_frequency in smartmax tunning you can also edit the file and make permanent changes so you dont have to change again and again
SUICORE-QUAD
by @iDorkKnight
SUI stands for Smartmax_eps, Umbrella_core and Interactive. Suicore-quad-v1 is a profile based on 3 governors behaving differently(in a very specific way) in order to preserve battery and maintain performance.
Lightning-impulse profiles
These profiles are based on advanced interactive tweaks thread by @soniCron for best frequency usage for each task like videos, scrolling and also ramps down to idle minimum frequency fast and the ui is smooth without using too much input boost
will add more asap so stay tuned
RESERVED
Let the games begin
You sir are a hero for all your work
Thankyou for your work ,I'm using the bat profile and the stats look pretty promising on NOS 7.1.1 latest
I'm running only the profile ,all background processes are running normally (No Doser )
Will try it out and let you know
Is there a chance for screenshots from KA of each profile? Thanks

You can see the values in the file as it can be edited easily cause its time consuming to upload so many ss thanks
Which ROM would you say will work smoothly with these profiles.
Sent from my A0001 using XDA-Developers Legacy app

SUICORE-QUAD-v1 PROFILE
SUICORE-QUAD v1:
SUI stands for Smartmax_eps, Umbrella_core and Interactive. Suicore-quad-v1 is a profile based on 3 governors behaving differently(in a very specific way) in order to preserve battery and maintain performance.
Instructions:
1)Unzip the suicore-quad-v1 file(DO NOT FLASH).
2)Copy the unzipped suicore-quad-v1 to system/etc/initd.
2)Grant all the permissions (rwx rwx rwx) to the file.
3) Go to CPU section of Kernel Auditor Mod app > Enable the "Enable per core control" option.
4) Go to the initd section of the Kernel Auditor Mod app and execute the suicore-quad-v1 script. You will receive a confirmation message.

Some screenshots are attached that show the battery stats obtained using suicore-quad-v1
PS: On stock, I cannot go beyond 4h30m. On suicore-quad, well, the screenshots speak for themselves.

it works with alucard hotplug with all cores on am I right?
Glad @nikhil18 is keeping the development alive for OnePlus One. Just checked my mentions and couldn't resist to post my thoughts here. Good job guys, Keep those profiles coming.

Works with alucard but if you have sudden lags or delayed wakeups, I suggest you shift to MSM hotplug with min_cores as 4.

Is that undervolting part of profile? Or we have to manualy do it?
Just downloaded the latest version of franco kernel manager 6.1. Im a total noob in terms of using this tool, so I've been looking for a guide or a tutorial that can assist in using it. Also what is the method of flashing the franco kernel from this tool? Where can I download the franco kernel.zip? I have been looking all over, cant seem to find it. Plz help
Im currently on RR Rom latest version 8.6.3. Im looking for a setting to enhance battery life and overall performance of the Phone.

Hey there
What I did to get Franco kernel was flash it during my first time rooting (so it was a clean flash, as the phone had be factory reset). Once you're in TWRP, you flash Franco kernel and then magisk. This is one way to do it. I can't advise you to flash a new kernel without clean flash because I personally didn't do it and I don't know if issues will come from that. If you can do it, my personal advice is to just do a clean flash. You know the drill, wipe system data and that stuff > flash ROM > Kernel > Magisk, and done
As for where you can get the zip, there is a thread here in the OP5 XDA forum on ROMs and Kernels I think and that's where franco posted the kernels. He's got a website too linked in the same post
HOWEVER, he hasn't updated them since last year, and I don't think they have support for Android 10, only 9
As for settings, well, in my own experience, you won't get any noticeable boost in battery life or performance without doing some drastic change.
If you want better battery life, you can decrease the maximum CPU frequency, change the governor to Conservative or Powersave, disable some cores, or all of those at once, but they WILL degrade performance, sometimes you won't notice but then you'll try to load a heavy webpage on Chrome and then you'll REALLY notice it.
The inverse is also true. To increase performance you change the governor to performance; usually the CPU frequency is set to its maximum by default, and the cores are all enabled anyway so you don't have to change anything. BUT, keeping the governor in Performance will also keep the CPU clocks at its maximum, and that's going to drain your battery like CRAZY, plus it'll overheat it. Usually there is no practical need for this setting, but I use it to play games on Dolphin emulator since thats when I can actually make use of that performance.
A better alternative is to keep the governor on Interactive, which will scale up CPU clocks depending on the load (if doing light stuff, low clocks. Heavy stuff > high clocks). Otherwise, Conservative does the same thing but takes longer to use higher clocks, so battery is saved.
Always use 1 governor for all cores. Do NOT use multiple governors (example: powersave for big cores, performance for little cores) because that will cause instability issues
Also, if you make any changes, you gotta tap the toggle on it, which will say something like "stay on boot: true". Otherwise, if you for instance change your governor to Performance, and then reboot, all your changes will reset to Default
Personally I just keep my governor in Conservative and roll with the defaults.
Hope that helps ya
sorry for digging but I was loooking for solution..
just make a backup of present kernel (tuned with FKM) and then flash it from backup menu
I was trying flash with twrp, magisk, 'set on boot' at first and many other things but it was so simple, it's there all the time
