EDIT: Yeah that was quite harsh - I'm currently using PACman, it's quite good, but the best way is to try out ROMs yourself.

Exactly what I meant lol. I tend to do it if I've read far too many awful posts recently :L @OP if you see this I'm genuinely sorry about that ^ I'll try and be kinder in the future

i'm using PACMAN JB 4.1.2 and really pleased with it.
I think the way to get the most from your battery is primarily turn that screen brightness down!
Then be conservative with CPU settings.
Finally only turn on WIFI when you need to use it.
I get 2 days out of my HD2 like this.

Thanx mate will try it out

The concept best rom is subjective. The battery life depends on the main use you give to your device: games, social, calls, gps, etc. What is best for myself may be not so good for you. So far every rom is good, because has been developed/ported free for each of us to enjoy. So please use search function and find by yourself what rom is the best for you, according to your preferences. BTW please click on my sign Best regards

Time for a good rom review

!My spelling isn't the best!
So I just rooted my phone, and now im in the process of trying one by one of all the of roms i can get my hands on.
I was wondering if anyone would like to help. I was thinking of some good screen shots and some small videos.
I would love a place where i could find out what these roms looked liked and how they ran.
So hit this up if you in or am I just gonna be wasting my time.
Thanks

I think this is a great idea. I know when I am looking to go to a new rom, one of the first thing i look for are screenshots, and user experience with the rom.
Sounds like a great idea. First thing I look at are screen shots as well. I've tried almost every rom out there for the Eris. Would love to help.

i think this would have the potential for sticky once it was developed fully...
it would be nice to have a one stop shop area to compare all the many different ROMs
NIce
well i was thinking something simple
- screen-shots
- videos if possible
- off the bat bugs
- speed test (which i might need some help)
- user exp (from 0.0-10.0)
if there's any more...please add more
we should probably redo this thread also. would we do a new thread for each rom?
i hope people who don't take screen-shots or any videos, would say something about the roms too. (the more info we get the more we have to work with)
and I'm also new and not the best at forums so if someone would like to to take charge in setting up these threads that would be great
Thanks

This is already in the works I believe. The wiki is being worked on to have a review of every ROM including benchmarks and detailed info.

As much as that's a good start, it seems unorganized. A blog is not really a good place for rom reviews. I was thinking more about a wiki. I've been working on one for a bit now. We'll see how it turns out.

Complete Guide to Maximizing Your Android Phone’s Battery Life

I found the link for this guide on gizmodo. I actually get the same amount of battery life on my HD2 with shubcraft as i get on my Nexus One so i have no complaints about battery use (im a "power user" so i dont expect great battery life anyways. I Avg about 6hrs on every smartphone i had.) but i see alot of threads about battery use so check out this guide.

Thanks, but I found nothing new about that... Everything described there is familiar to anybody who uses Android on HD2
All the same, still very good to have all of these things grouped into one thread.
This will be particularly usefull for people that won't be very used to running android, so thank you for the link all the same
Once again another pointless thread

Android Build questions

I know theres plenty of threads about this issue but they're so long of a read it would take forever for me to go through them.
I've been using hyperdroid with vbn rom. Its been great and reliable but it still has its quirts. What i like about the build is that the battery will last me close to a full day of use and it don't randomly reboot on me. But its just too outdated and am wondering if there is something else that is better out there.
I've tried jms builds but the battery does not last but a few hours for me.
My question is, what are you using and how does it compare with hyperdroid? AS in battery wise and random boots. Thanks
Dude, there was absolutely no need for this topic, There is plenty of threads to read on subject and it would take you 10 mins tops to get a good idea of the next build and/or kernel to use.
Please stop been lazy and creating clone topics.
Dude, how about you don't be a smartass and just let it die out like everybody is?

Im not been a "smartass" im stating a fact that you should have been aware of by using simple common sense.
At least take 5 mins to look at a forum before you post on it.
ALSO if you want to ask questions there is a Q&A forum so you fail on all points.
If you want help ask in right places and only if the information or question isnt readily available already.

I'm on Lightning Rom 6.1. Battery usage depends on which kernel you use. My best is Jeffrey Speefrey 3.0.0 Rv
I dont mean to be rude, but these wrong posts in the wrong area is getting ridiculous. Please READ! Not only are you asking something that has been asked several times in the last few days but also putting it in the dev section. Again, not just you, but SOOO many others as well! Hacre rubs me the wrong way sometimes but I understand where he is coming on certain things.

I have changed so many custom roms and I found that THIS rom is absolutely perfect. It is super smooth, no lag, no fancy -bad looking- theme, and battery is outstanding!! At least 30% more battery than any other custom rom, and 50% more than stock roms!
XK's - Stability/Speed/Superb Battery Rom

I don't support XDA on that but yes, creating a lots of threads on the same topic does clutter the forum. Still, plenty of people, like me, have no time to check all those ROMs, nor interest, and it's common that someone wanna have a view on a particular ROM or the one which majority of people think is the best, that'd called 'feedback'! There should be a sticky topic listing all the Custom ROMs and voting should be listed there so that one can see and judge a ROM by the majority of voting.

The best ROM is the one that works best for you. Try a few and decide for yourself.

Fast, Battery saving and stable ROM for S3

Hello xda-Community!
First of all - yes, I used the search function but I didn't find any matching result to my question.
So, back to topic.
I am searching for a fast, battery saving and stable rom for the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300.
It can have the most standard apps removed because I don't use them.
Currently I am using the Android Revolution HD but I am not really fine with it.
So which one would you recommend?
I am grateful for any answer!
Regards, furiify
(P.S.: Sorry for my bad english, I am german ^^)

Its a matter of choice ... I am using CyanogenMod 10 and I am really happy with its battery life and performance... Very smooth
If you like Touchwiz interface than Omega Rom is great too
If you havent tried AOSP yet, then LiquidSmooth is a good starter.
Best rom thread is best.
Please I need a rom that's the fastest, has the best battery the best signal nicest ui and smalest size.
If you want stability and good battery, stay on stock ICS, JB will always use more battery.
JB is smoother and has better screen responsiveness (among other things), it has worse game performance.
If you go to JB, I DON'T recommend CM10, it doesn't play very well with the SGS3 yet, and its battery is even worse than stock JB. Many people use OMEGA, it's fast, but it's a battery sucker. Also, Siyah Kernel is very good, but many users are reporting battery problems, it could be configured to be more battery friendly, but it's too much of a hassle.
I'd recommend using WanamLite and stay on its kernel or use Perseus kernel if you go the JB route.
BTW, you'll have poor battery the first few days whenever you change ROM/kernel, no matter what you choose, so give it try for a couple of days.
Damnit, not this AGAIN! Why don't we start banning these people?

Simple reason .
One its against the rules two their is a thread just near this post dont post what rom bet rom.
three roms are subjective .
Four a thousand what rom /best rom posts per week are not what XDA is about .
If you have to ask that sort of question then you are nothing more than someone that wants it all handed to them on a plate and is to lazy to bother reading the FAQS and Guides . Not really the sort of user XDA needs .
