I have successfully beamed stuff from my Nexus 7 to my Nexus 10.
One issue I did come across is with bluetooth... I think it's a 4.2 issue. Tried to normally bluetooth something from N7 to N10 and the N10 went crazy. Came up with accept or decline, then crashes, then comes up accept or decline again and wouldn't stop doing this. I even turned off my N10 and turned it back on and it would still do it. In the end I had to turn both devices off to get it to stop. I'm not going to be using bluetooth again any time soon.

whatt??? damn maybe its my rom. did you do it in the middle of the back??

Yeah the middle. Works fine.

I beam pic from my S3 to the nexus back and forth, no problem

Same. Aloso it has a dual NFC so there is one on the top on the front. Try that one.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app

thats crazy. im guessing my PacMan roms nfc isnt working or maybe its just my 10's NFC that isnt working

I am also having a lot of issues with my NFC tags.
Even when using the app TagInfo it says my tags don't have a NFC chip on it
One time I had luck and one small tag (192b) worked, but some time after that it didn't work anymore like the other tags.
Those tags used to work fine on my galaxy nexus and I loved to use them
The Nexus 10 just plays the NFC sound (up to down) and nothing happens (because it thinks that the tags don't have any usable chip on it...)
Someone else experiencing similar things?

Me too. I get the NFC sound, on either the back or front sensor, but nothing can read any of my many different NFC chips. My Galaxy Nexus reads them all fine (and writes them as well). Everything else is perfect with my N10, so I'd really like to find out it's a firmware/software problem, not a hardware problem with my particular N10.

good luck:fingers-crossed:

I was able to beam from the N10 to the S3 a pic but when I tried the other way from S3 to N10 is just beaming the App but not the picture. Any ideas?

[Q] Should I sell this nexus 10? It's the worst device I have ever encountered.

I am fed up with this thing. I have so many issues with it, I have tried a lot of difference ROMs and get the same crap with all of them. The most annoying things are that it constantly reboots and WiFi never stays connected for more than an hour at a time. I don't even trust this tablet for any word processing or anything important. What the hell am I supposed to do with it. I am so disappointed in this tablet. I've had it since Christmas and whilw the build is great and the screen is awesome, the WiFi and the random reboots are just rediculous for a 400 dollar tablet. My HP touchpad was more reliable than this and it even had android ported to it, and this is a Nexus device that is supposed to be top of the line. Now my question is, is there a ROM out that there actually fixes the WiFi or am I going to have to sell this while its still worth money and pick up the next tablet that's going to be announced at I/O
I don't know what issues your having with the WiFi, I've seen 5ghz routers have issues.
As for the reboots I'm sure they will get worked out, I do agree they are annoying, but considered to other android tablets this one is by and far the best

Maybe give it a last chance, install KTManta kernel, I have zero random reboot since I install this kernel. Didn't notice any WiFi problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015874
Thanks. I'm throwing the aokp 4.22 ROM on when in get home and I'll try that kernel. I appreciate it. As for 5ghz router I'm not sure, but it drops at my home, work and my school.
Bigxie or mrrobinsons aokp pub builds are good, no reboots or anything. Kts kernel is amazing has newest wifi drivers from google and a color tweak. This tablet has been amazing for me
xda hd - nexus 10 - KT infused Carbons - booooom!
So far so good on 4.22 aokp and ktskernel. I looked at my battery usage today and I didn't see any time with WiFi off and no reboots. Granted I used it for only about an hour before it slept all night but still. 10 hours with no drops is a great improvement. Thanks guys for giving Mr faith in this device. I was about to give up on it lol.
Glad it got fixed for you. This devices issues arent the device really its been with android 4.2.x from google.

You should return this device. You keeping this device when it's this faulty is like rewarding Google and Samsung for making a defect product. I love Android, but I took my N10 back and got an iPad 4 and it's functionally the same as the N10 and, here's the most important part, not defective. If you really love Android, you'll take this tablet back and get something else and vote with your money.

Your comment completely contradicts your sig lol.. Also in my mind the nexus 10 has much more functionality than ipad... Hdmi out for one... Also I don't have a PC so I'd be SOL with an ipad having to connect to iTunes to load music... No true jailbreak available with ipad 4 yet which is absolutely necessary for me with any iDevice... Just saying not same functionality just different functionality
Its not the Nexus 10 thats defective. Its bugs in android 4.2. Read the thread. If the device itself was faulty his problems wouldn't get fixed with a rom and he has stated all his problems are now solved.

There is no definite blame on the issues. If it was bugs with 4.2, then I wouldn't have a 100% stable WiFi connection at all times and would be having random reboots (my WiFI connection is 100% stable from what I've seen, and I can't recall any random reboots on 4.2, and very few prior to it). This was with stock also.
I'll either say it's an issue with some 3rd-party app(s), or hardware.
The hardware is not at fault if his connection works perfectly now is all im saying. Faulty wifi card would be faulty no matter what. Roms dont make hardware work better i never had random reboots or wifi issues either so i dont know but i know others' issues were solved by switching. Apps? Yeah could be.

How does having an Android blog contradict Google making a defective Android product (this was absolutely the case with my N10). It's like saying because I like hamburgers that I should love eating a ****ty hamburger. Functionally, you can do the same stuff with both of these tablets. That's not really the issue at hand though.

There's just so many factors that no one is talking about or thinking about:
-What if there are problems with wifi drivers/subsystem, then everyone's different access points are going to give different results
-What if there is a difference between starting with 4.2.2 as opposed to going to it from OTA
-What if there is a physical problem that only happens if you hold it a certain way
-What if there is a problem that manifests its self differently depending on peoples charge habbits
-What if letting the screen sleep is different than pushing the power button to sleep it
-What if there is a DRM issue that is dependent upon certain titles in a persons Play library
-What if there is a GPS issue that is caused by certain towers
-What if Maps has a flaw that loads only when you are physically close to a certain area
-What is the technical definition of "crash" when one of us end users reports "crash"
These are just some examples off the top of my head. I think the community has focused too much on "3rd party app" in general. Perhaps it would be worthwhile for everyone to get more oranized in the troubleshooting? I see a lot of complaining but not tons of people talking about their test actions. (Yes, this should be Googles job, but absent that...)

The big issue here is that there should not be so many problems with android 4.2, or if there were not for four months. I would have been fine with my nexus 10 if Google fixed the horrific stability issues within a month and a half but its been over four since I got my tablet.
I'm right there with you TC. This tablet blows to me. I don't care if iOS has less functionality, there were no random reboots, the color accuracy, brightness and contrast ratios were much better with zero backlight bleeding, blacks were much deeper and richer, twice the battery life, no slowdowns, no lag and had actual good accessory support.
I have tried just about every rom/kernel combination on here with no end to the problems. I've gotten it replaced three times. Terrible experience, and will likely not buy another Nexus device again.
I was in this expecting a comparable experience to the GSIII I had when I bought this tablet (I now use a Note 2) and I was utterly disappointed.

And honestly I'm not sure what is causing the issues. Some people have them and some don't. Most people a ROM/kernel fixes everything for a few it doesn't. As for people saying they've had three or four defective devices is pretty bullish. I just know how hardware works and if the hardware is bad it stays bad most likely you're right its not 4.2 per say but more likely the Google/Samsung blobs for the n10 which include display and wifi.

Well I figured I'd come back here. I swapped ROMs for a 4.2.2 build as well as installing minimal apps for now and also installed the kts kernel. I have not had a reboot yet *fingers crossed*, but like I said I have not been using the tablet as intensively as before. The WiFi seems stronger as well. I think part of the problem is my home WiFi has its own issues, but it is discouraging when my phone is sitting next to me and has 3 bars and my tab is fighting for 2. Maybe the WiFi adapter in the n10 is just inferior to that of the galaxy s3 and I am expecting too much.
All in all though, anyone having reboot issues, definitely get on a 4.2.2 build and flash the kts kernel. Thanks everyone for the help!

I would change router settings if you haven't already, more specifically the channel. Might have an effect on signal. The WiFi signal on my N10 is pretty awesome, compared to other devices I have anyway.

Yeah, I will say, from all the problems I have on the Nexus 10, wifi is not one of them. It connects and stays connected even better than my iPad 3 did. Its the stability things that bother me so much.

Extremely low microphone volume during calls

Callers at the other end have difficulty hearing me, and I've never been able to find a solution. At first, I thought it's the ROM I was using, but after flashing the stock rooted ROM, same problem. I'm using the correct baseband. I'll do a test tomorrow, returning the phone to factory condition with the latest images from Google.
Has anybody gotten this problem and was able to fix it?
Update: Back to factory condition. Issue still isn't fixed.
Newer update: Called Google Play Store via this number 1-855-836-3987. They'll be sending a replacement.

While i am not stock, I did notice this one time with my phone... like extremely LOW to the point i was pressing the phone HARD against my ear to hear.
Solution? I went ahead and flashed Paranoid Android 3.56 and flash the Louder volume MOD in the themes and apps section. That fixed my issue, I also know that not all of you will want to root, and that this SUCKS. but try to restart the phone.
Just root guys, this phone was made for that

Oh actually the issue I'm talking about is different. The ear piece volume is fine, but whenever I talk to someone on the phone, they can barely hear me unless I use speaker phone. I was actually using Paranoid Android, and I was being told I can barely be heard. So I flashed back to factory to see if it was a ROM issue. Sadly it wasn't.. On factory ROM I can still barely be heard.

I'm having the same problem as well. Just received my Nexus 4 last week. They especially can't hear me if I'm speaking to them through my car speakers (3.5mm connection, not bluetooth). I tried using headsets and the results were pretty much better..
Wish I could help. Just had to RMA mine today. Completely stock, no mic. Works when plugged in, sometimes, but for the most part no audio. When it is plugged in, the wife says I sound like I'm trapped in a bottle lol echo and static.
I had the same problem when I was running full stock. It was really annoying to hear "I can't hear you..." every other sentence.
This won't help if you do not want to root or run custom ROMs but since I switched to PA 3.56 and Matr1x kernel the people on the other end of the line haven't been complaining. I imagine for whatever reason it was fixed would apply to most custom ROMs and Kernels. I'll actually test this out this weekend and edit my post afterwards.
Edit: I made some calls to friends on PA/Matr1x/Radio .48 and everything seemed fine. I flashed full stock and called back the same people and only one person said they heard a noticeable decrease in the quality. That person also knew I was testing different settings on my phone so maybe they were messing with me.

Bumping an old thread ...
So my gf started complaining that she could barely hear me when I was using my Klipsch S4A headphones to talk--while in the car and in a quiet room. I was on CM10.1 at the time and I had read complaints from others with the same/similar issue on other ROMs, even stock/unrooted. I chalked it up to 4.2 and hoped 4.3 would fix it.
It appears that isn't the case. I just sacrificed root so I could flash a clean install of 4.3 (new bootloader and radio included) hoping it would at least mean I could have normal conversations with my gf again while the devs cook up CM10.2. How bummed am I to find out that the issue persists. I just called her from my office with my headset on and she said I "still sound far away." This is really frustrating. I never had this issue on my GNex.

I wish someone comes up with a solution for this.. I was hoping 4.3 would solve this issue also. Some say its cause of the noise reduction, isn't there anyway we could disable noise reduction?! I remembered I had that option on CM10 my i9300 but not on nexus 4 build.. This is really an issue for me since i always use headset for phone calls.. I was wondering if the original Nexus 4 headset would solve this issue.

Hi guys,
i found 2 "solutions" which didnt work for Nexus 4:
1: typing *#*#3646633#*#* into the phone to enter the engineering mode. "Should" work for all Android, does not for Nexus 4
2: the App "MobileUncle". Does only work for MTK Chipsets (Nexus 4 has another one)
my question: is there something like the Engineering mode for the Nexus 4 ?
Same issue on Nexus 5
FYI, the nexus 5 has the low input volume gain when using 3.5mm headphones with inline mics. I don't understand what LGs problem is with 3.5mm connections or why it was never tested.
started a discussion on in here
Any solution yet???
I have the exact same Issue, Android 4.4.2 and the issue is not fixed weird that only Nexus 4 has it. I am like you trying to find an app or a way to work around the issue, tried to install other ROM using rom manager and phone when SLOW as heck so no idea how to fix it yet, loud speaker to every single call is not the way to go

Faulty compass

Does anyone else get the following:
1. GMaps not recognising the compass and not turning its compass as you turn round;
2. Compass app goes mental when you test by spinning round (mine spins the wrong way then back randomly)
?
Looks like my Note3 is proper fkd. At the moment it's just peeing me off.

Sounds like the Note 3 is suffering from the same compass issue as the S4. The compass just needs to be calibrated. Download GPS Status & Toolbox (excellent app!) from Google Play Store and go to Tools/Compass calibration. That should fix it. Calibrate the compass outdoors away from metal structures for best accuracy. Factory reset resets also the compass calibration data, but luckily the calibration takes only about 10 seconds or so. Hope this helps!

Cheers Pete.
I did try that but it's still flying all over the place.
Sending it back as faulty. There's too much I dislike about this phone to make it worth £620.
I tried with mine and a few demo units from the stores.
After a thorough test, they all essentially have this problem. My one, when you go to *#0*# it would just either not spin or spin sporadically, same with the demo units.
I guess it's a software problem, 4.3 problem essentially, my AOSP'd Note 2 also has this problem

No, I didn't get a replacement. Sammy's seem to be all about the gimmick now, and I'm waiting for the N5 or a 32GB G2 to hit these shores.
Besides, £620 for a phone that does the pen-hover thing that my 2003 Windows tablet PC did? Nah.

Got a brand new one! If it still doesn't work, well then screw it, I guess a software update would fix it.

so you have found a solution for your compass problem?
Following up...
Anyone have any luck getting the compass fixed? Just got my Note 3 (T Mobile US) and I am having the same problem. Makes orienteering and geocaching all but impossible...

My new device still has this bug, but calibrates faster than my first one. It's a widely known bug, maybe Samsung needs to fix it.
FWIW mine has the same problem. I did manage to get it work work correctly for a little while by using a "metal detector" app which vibrated when it detected something. It suddenly started behaving correctly for a short while.
Calibrating it with the GPS Tools app also fixes it for a little while.
Having the same issue with my Note 3 as well. The GPS Status app using the compass calibration fixes the problem but once you restart the phone the compass no longer works again and you need to calibrate once more.
It seems like a software bug issue rather than a faulty compass. It's annoying but at least there is a solution.

[Q] Compass not working

My Nexus 4's compass is only pointing south. It shifts slightly to the east/west when I turn but doesn't move very much. I've made sure that there is no magnetic interference around, took the bumper off, and have tried several reboots. I noticed this a few days ago in the Ingress app, and confirmed the issue with a compass app. I am running the stock ROM (rooted) on the latest version of Jelly Bean (JWR66Y). I suspect it may be a bug in the software because my sister (in a completely different part of the world) is reporting that her compass is also stuck on south on her Nexus 4 (also stock but not rooted). I suppose it is possible that we both have faulty compass sensors, but since this is a recent issue that I only noticed sometime after the recent Jelly Bean update, I was wondering if others were experiencing this issue as well. Thank you for your responses and potential solutions.
Have you tried calibrating it? Hold your phone in your hand and make figure 8s with your wrist. I have no clue what that's supposed to look like though

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have already tried to calibrate it several times since I noticed the problem.

Happens to me when my Nexus is placed in my wireless charger in my car.

[Q] Odd sound......

A few times today I was showing people my new Note 3.
It is completely stock and running Touchwiz launcher.
However, after putting it back on the table it made a strange beeping sound as if it had a new notification.
I've not heard this sound before and haven't since.
There was nothing running only the home screen.
Anyone else experienced this?

I've never used NFC before so I'm not sure how that works (before the Note 3 I was using S2), but I know the S3 has NFC. Maybe Note 1 too. Coulda triggered something I suppose?
Bump your phones and see if it makes same sound.
I hear that sound too... like bird chirping (in whistle tone). 3-4 times in total of 5-6 minutes. But there was no notification at all.
And I don't not have any other devices near it... so no NFC issue possible.
