I've just installed Android 4.2 in my Nexus 7 - and really enjoying the fast user-switching with the builin support for several users.
Though, I can't figure out how account syncronisation is working on the additional accounts.
When I first started the tablet, and associated the "main" account, I got an option to keep the account in sync using my google account.
But, when I created two other users on the tables (which both have google accounts too), I did not get the option to keep the account in sync... And, I now have to manually install all my apps again.
Is there a way around this ?

One of the accounts had been active on it yes. Though, I choose to factory reset and use another account - so I could share it with the wife.
But, with 4.2 we both have an account on there - which is perfect... Except for the fact, that during setup, one cannot choose to restore the account settings from the google-account (Only got that option with the initial main account setup)
Is that really not possible?
bump.... com-on... someone must be using multi-user here ?

Hi everybody howcome when I go in calendar and try to add a event it says you have no calendar? Can somebody help me. I download a calendar app from market gave me same message.

Did you create one from Google Calendar? Log onto your gmail account and create a calendar then sync it to your phone.
Lol sounds confusing. What about contacts I saved 2 but its not on my contacts howcome?

It happened to me when I first got my Nexus S. Even though I linked gmail and the calendar wouldn't allow me to add an event until a few days after using the phone while synced to Google account.
Sync Google account and do a soft reboot and if it doesn't work right away, let it run for a couple days. Give that a try. Good luck.

You can manually sync from the sync menu.

I bought my wife the new Nexus S 4g today. The guy at the sprint store helper her set up the phone even thought I did not want him too. Oh well it is his job. Thing is she had never setup Google Calendar because she had a BlackBerry before that. So when I got home I setup her Google calendar but it is not syncing to her new phone. When I go to Setting > Accounts & Sync > her google account there is not a Calendar option. What do I need to do I don't want to have to reset her phone. Are there any other options? Thanks.
Odd. Calendar should be one of the defaults syncs. Have you tried running the calendar app and see if the gmail account shows up there?

I had tried running the calendar app but nothing shows up I even enter an event online thinking may bring it down but nothing. If you try to add an event on the phone it just says "You have no calendars". It is almost like the phone did not sync all the way to her account. I really don't want to reset her phone to factory default and have her set everything up again. She would not want to do that. She has already change the wallpaper all the screens downloaded apps, and changed ring tones.
I meant open the calendar app, press the menu button, press More then on Calendars and make sure the gmail account is listed there.
Also, this might be a stupid question but you're connected with Wifi or mobile network (3G, 2G, etc) right? Your phone signal bars should appear green if you're connected to Google's servers. If it's not green, you won't be able to sync.
I go to Calendar app > More > Calendars and there is nothing there, just have an Ok and cancel button. I have been on 3g, 4g, and wifi and nothing on any of them. Yes the the bars a green at the top.
I doubt you need to reset to factory so not to worry about that. Maybe you just have to wait a day or two. Either that or bring it back to the store and have them figure it out.
Might do that thanks. Hopefully it will work itself out.
You can also try rebooting the phone if you haven't already.
already tried that

maybe you should try and get the stock calendar.apk and re-install it...???
Ok I talked to Sprint and they said that is easiest way was to make sure that the phone was backed up to Google and just do a Factory Wipe. Basically wipe the phone and start over. So I did and that fixed the problem. So anyone who gets a new google phone and does not have all the google apps setup do that before you get the phone activated. I hope someone finds a better way because that is a major oversight on googles part. But everything is working great now.
Any1 having issues with their Google Calendar not syncing?
This is my first Nexus 7 - 32GB
OS - 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Stock
Can't get any entries onto my N7 calendar widget.
Is it a 4.1.2 issue or my user error?
Did you enable calendar sync in /settings/accounts/Google?
Is your Gmail account ticked in calendar/settings/calendars to display?

Yes to both!
Update: just unchecked the accounts & added back.
Lo&behold it works.
Thanks for chiming in.
Slight different problem I am having...
In settings -> accounts -> google, there is no calendar entry despite the fact that I have installed calendar from the market.
When I go to sync in the calendar app, it shows my google account, but clicking on that shows 'no calendars'. I don't know why it's not working as it syncs just fine to my phone, so I don't think it's a sharing or permission error.
Anyone with a suggestion?
Similar problem
Hey I'm experiencing a similar issue, my google calendar won't sync, tells me to add an account and when I do says it has already been added. If I try to add a new entry the app force closes.
Bough the N7 yesterday, have been using google calendar on my phone just fine. Tried resyncing but no joy. Any solutions out there for this?
Found a solution if anyone comes here with a similar problem, turns out the calendar was not visible, just click on today's window in the app and make sure all the accounts are white rather than tan. Wow, do I feel silly hehe

Hi, I am not a super-user, but also not quite a noob. I've rooted devices and feel I'm relatively competent. I am only mentioning this to simply clarify who's asking, because I am not at all clear on these instructions.
I missed a doctor appointment because my phone (which had all my appointments) did not sync to my N7. Oddly, it did sync some (when, I don't know). I've tried everything I could think of. I've only had the N7 for about 2 weeks, and have found the menu options lacking.
To be clear, my phone has the data. The N7 does not. All boxes have been checked on both Google accts. And, as one does in a situation like this, I unchecked and rechecked them to no avail.
Thanks for the help and everyone's suggestions.

Trying to help a friend and I don't want to make a mess of his phone. What happens when I "uncheck" the google accont? Does it erase his user completely with pictures and contacs and so on?
So, I originally got this root working under my regular, personal gmail account. Then I picked up a couple more nooks for a project I'm working on and realized, since I'm going to be handing these out to people to use, that having my personal gmail account on there wasn't the best approach.
New gmail account, and presto, I use that when setting up the new nooks. I added the new gmail to the original device too. So far so good. Now, how do I remove the original gmail account? Various googling has brought up a variety of ways to do this with a regular device, but those settings/options don't exist here.
Is there an app that will do this?
Also, since I'm only setting these up to run one particular app, that I load via ADB, it doesn't matter to me whether or not I retain Play market access.
Thanks
Anders
This would be very useful to know. I want to setup a new Nook for a friend and avoid going through the entire preparation and use my IMG to restore and then change gmail.

Recently I bought a Nexus 7. I made my account primary, made a dummy account for my kid and my wife added herself as a user.
I was checking since settings and updates on my kids account and found to my surprise he could access my wife Gmail. More digging and I found all her Google services were cross linked to the kids.
Does anyone know why?
Also, how do I stop this?
Thanks.

Maybe I need to clarify my problem.
Primary User - Me. No one can access anything of mine.
Secondary User - Wife
Secondary User - Kid
Kid opens Gmail, sees his own account and can change to my Wife's Gmail account as well.
This shouldn't be possible. Any thoughts?
That's odd. I just tried with some dummy accounts and old gmail accounts and I was unable to replicate your issue. One thing I'll suggest is go into your kid's account and check under Settings>Accounts>Google and if your wife's email shows up there, remove it. That's the only thing I can think of right now.

Thanks for the reply. I did that and it worked. My wife's account is still there as a "user" as it should, but now the Kid can't see her Google stuff. It was so weird.

Glad that worked. One of you must have accidentally added her account when the tablet was logged into your kid's account. :good:
I was able to set up Exchange account for Gmail on Nexus 6 but don't even have this option on 6P. I Googled this issue and someone said that I need Google's Exchange Service apk but it's not pre-installed on 6P (definitely was on 6). I downloaded one from mirror they provided and it seems to work now.
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ge-services-6-5-1729047-android-apk-download/
I actually could swear that I added this account to my phone as soon as I got it but now this account is simply missing (like the guy said in the last post)
Anyway, why did Google remove this option? Is there some issue? Is this the only workaround or is there a better/right way to do this?
Would recommend you to try Nine Exchange on Play Store instead!
My work has all of the stupid policies enabled and Nine just works wonderful without the need to password protect my whole phone aswell as I just have to password protect the app instead. With the Nexus Imprint you can also open the app with your fingerprint
+1 for Nine. Have been using it for a few years, it's by far the best Exchange client.
I think Inbox might also be an option, but haven't tried it.
Trying to stay with Gmail as I have had no issues until Google removed this support by default for some reason. It works good now as I manually added it.
I really like to have all my emails under same app and I'm used to Gmail.
Does Nine also add events to Google Calendar and integrates this account into Do Not Disturb Automatic Rules? That's another thing I love about Google's integration of Exchange into OS.
It's just strange that Google kept saying that Android are work "friendly" now and then they remove the "native" support for Exchange.
Nine ... Best money I've ever spent on an app. Truly Enterprise level Exchange email client for Android. Their support is phenomenal too. They've personally addressed multiple bugs and enhancement requests I've submitted.

Umm, my 6P on 6.0.1 has Exchange Services already installed. Settings -> Apps -> Three dot menu - Show system. Scroll down, its there. Maybe you didn't know how to add an Exchange account to Gmail? Gmail -> Side menu -> Little down arrow next to your Gmail account -> Add account -> Exchange.
Guess I don't see why you had to download some APK for this.
+1 for Nine, been using it forever. And yes, it integrates with Google Calendar.
Another ringing endorsement for Nine here as well. Phenomenal app and you can still fingerprint unlock the phone, as it's software-level security over device-level (your choice)
And I believe the reason the 'Email' app is gone is because they want us to use Gmail.

Interesting. I definitely did NOT have Exchange Services APK (I specifically checked and I remember it on Nexus 6). And no, I did not have the Exchange option in Gmail until I side-loaded that APK.
Could someone please check if this APK is "uninstallable"? That's the only thing I can think of..... that I manually uninstalled it when I got the phone. At the moment I can only disable it but since I side-loaded it, who knows how it's supposed to be by default..... hmmm, that's actually interesting that a side-loaded app can only be disabled now LOL.
Anyway, it works and I am happy.
Thanks!
