My N10 is showing a system update. Should I take it? I'm not going to just yet. From my experience ota to newer firmware and such sometimes end up locking ppl or out not being able to achieve root or cust recovery.
Someone please advise if I should take the update.

It's a Nexus device, I wouldn't worry about an update locking out the ability to root. There's no carriers trying to screw you here, and Google doesn't care if you root or unlock the bootloader.
Go ahead and update (there's some needed fixes in it).
And since that first update is going to be the base firmware that is used to develop the first working N10 root in the first place, you'll need it for that too.
Yeah, I would. It's Google - there's not gonna be any dodgy stuff with it.

Can you pull it for everyone?
It's the same as the T-Mobile version that is posted in the dev forum.
Yep, you can find it here:

It's the same 4.4.2 I received on XT1058

It is not the same update as any XT1058 has received, this update is for the US dev edition/tmobile retail edition, model number XT1053.
I mean by the version number. Mine is 161.44.26.en.BR with the same contents: Google Cloud Print, Battery Life fix, MS Exchange fix

Fair enough, but by saying they are the "same" it might lead someone to try flashing it to the wrong model phone, which can lead to a brick. We have seen it happening several times here lately so some of us just want to be really clear about such things.
I'm rooted, so what should I do? Should I unroot and then re-root? Or use OTA Rootkeeper?
Not sure if anyone else has seen but verizon is rolling out 4.4.2 now for their P605. Hopefully should be good enough for the devs to push out a rom.
That's a first. Usually VZW is usually the last-of-the-last to roll out an update. The U.S. carriers omit the dialer and MMS plus their radios are proprietary. I wouldn't install the VZW ROM on a non-VZW N10.1-14.

Had no plans to install it just hoping maybe it's something the devs can play with to bring us P605 owners a kit kat rom.

And from my reading it seems like most people are on the a newer update than what I'm seeing (mmb29p)
Android security paths - January 1 2016
Was there another Feb or even March update? I check a few times but besides the few updates that came upon boot I have nothing else.
mhc19i is the latest update
Factory images can be found here. It says there were 3 updates since MMB29P. I am still on MMB29P myself, as I just received my 6P today.
You'll eventually get it, you just have to wait for them to beam it to your phone. The "check for updates" page is basically useless. You could also flash the update manually if you don't want to wait.

So it looks like it is the Oreo September update and its labelled wrong.
Yeah it is labeled wrong. It is just the September security update. I have the same issue, updated device and is the September update.
Yes, I've got this as well this morning. The update process was smotth anyway, so I couldn't care less..
Same happened to me. What I don't understand is why I got it, but my auto update setting is OFF.

Same here but I'm rooted so figured it would fail anyway.

I had to wait a long long time for it to finish. Phone was real laggy while it updated. This is not a solid update, it has issues. Fine after it ia done, but the update process is borked.

You're not the only one, same for me and some other Note FE SM-N935F/DS users...
Seems like that only the Korean variant doesn't have this problem as they can just flash the standard TWRP without problems.
Anyone able to boot back to main screen without flashing stock ROM?
So there's no working root method yet for N935F/DS. Seems we have to wait for a year? Hope not. I like their phones but I hate Samsung!
