Hi,
Here in the UK it seems that the O2 network has plenty of Nexus 4's in stock. They provide the phone on a monthly contract on their network or you can buy the phone on O2 pay as you go for £399.
I am currently using a HTC wildfire as my Galaxy Nexus developed a charging problem, therefore I am desperate to get my hands on a Nexus 4 asap. If I were to purchase an O2 pay as you go Nexus 4, how easy would it be to unlock the phone from the O2 network and use my Vodafone sim card with it?
Thanks
From reading other threads it seems the phone comes unlocked?
Has anyone on Vodafone been able to use their SIM with a phone purchased from O2?
It's already unlocked

I need some opinions. I'm currently using a mobile phone on a t-mobile network. I want a XDA II, but, it will mean ditching my current t-mobile contract and starting with O2. Is this right?
Can I not get a T-Mobile MDA II instead and continue the T-mobile contract? Are they the same? Are they even available here in the UK
I have only ever seen the MDA II being sold in Germany. So does it only work there.
Help me out, please.
GingerSmiffy
check forums for xda2 codes you should be able to make it network free
all networks but keep it to your self we are getting 250 uk pounds to open them to all networks
Smiffy, the phone can be unlocked for free thanks to the guys that run this site, just download xda2unlock, all you need is usb cable or cradle, it is a very simple process and at the end of it you will have the unlock code, all xda2/mda2 are triband so will work in UK.
I'm taking my T-Mobile Vario II from the UK to the US next month and I was wondering if I can simply buy a PAYG SIM card in the States and use this on my phone while I'm there?
I know that the phone is locked so can I buy a T-Mobile SIM and use that?
Cheers.
Out of interest is there any reason why you do not unlock your phone first?
Sure, Cingular and T-mobile both sell prepaid sim cards (though you may be better off trying to get one on ebay first).
A T-mobile UK phone will NOT accept a T-mobile US sim without unlocking it, they are considered different networks and a phone locks itself to the network code.
Keep in mind though that in the US we don't have prepaid data like in the UK. PAYG in the US lacks many other things like roaming and cheap calls abroad.

To be honest, I don't know how to! I have a T-Mobile Vario II with the standard ROM.
Are PAYG SIMS available in Canada?
Is Canada considered 'abroad' with regard to a US SIM? And vice versa?
I'm going to both Canada and the US this year and want to know the score.
Thanks

When I was in Canada in July, Tmobile2Go SIM would *NOT* register. Note that in late '06 Tmo said 2Go SIMs would get roaming - dunno if that applies to Canada or not though. I just looked online and I'm still not sure You can easily pick up a Nokia 6030 here with a Tmo2Go SIM for ~$40. If you unlock and sell the 6030 it's cheaper than buying a SIM alone from Tmobile.
If your Vario II is a Hermes (I don't know T-mobile model names), you should have little trouble unlocking it using the Wiki instructions here.
PM me if you need help acquiring a US SIM card.
HTH,
Richard
Only Rogers pay as you go sim card has US roaming, but that's really expensive!
Hi,
i'm purchasing this device from a retailer, will be this unlocked? I need to use a vodafone sim with this..
If it's not, can it be easily unlocked?
thanks
It will be SIM free (unlocked) yes. I have a Vodafone SIM in mine.
Of the UK networks apparently only Orange have these exclusively to supply [for 3 months at least - although I dont think they have them in stores yet??] but I believe that they'll be very simple to unlock in any case.

Where can I get the mine unlocked from and how much will it cost?
Hi all, so the Virgin Mobile HTC Legend is available for only $349 vs. $399 at Bell Mobility.
I am currently a Bell Mobility customer, and am using a Nokia E71 on Bell. I just switched to the E71 a month or two ago and had to buy a special SIM card for it at the time, for 20 bucks.
My question is, if I go out today and buy the Virgin Mobile HTC Legend, do I need to do anything special in order to use it on Bell? Do I just take the SIM out of the back of my E71 and put it in the HTC Legend, and off I go?
Or is there any special method I need to do, ie: buying an unlock code or something?
I am a novice user, so go easy on me!
Thanks in advance, any speedy response would be greatly appreciated because I'm heading to the mall soon
Cheers!

Hey!
I believe you will need to get it unlocked - either getting the Code online (Apx 10 Dollars depending on where) or do as I and get it done at a store (Apx $40) I have a Virgin Legend but I am on Rogers.
It's the same as Rogers/Fido - When you buy a Fido Handset it needs to be unlocked in order to use it with Rogers - Even though Fido is owned by Rogers.
Hope this Helps!
P.S. E71's are pretty amazing - But you're going to love the Legend Even More!
Virgin is owned by bell, they run of the same network. You may have to get it unlocked (could cost $10-20) but it will work without a problem.
I bought my legend at Virgin and went right to the Bell store, paid $20 for a SIM card and everything works fine. The owner of the Bell store didn't even know that you did not have to unlock a Virgin phone to get it to work on the Bell network.
before that you have to unlock your mobile.
Try without unlocking the phone, and if it doesn't get the Bell Mobility service, unlock the phone.
Just received my mytouch 3g from amazon. They said it was unlocked so that is why i bought it, only to find out it is locked to t mobile. Now unlocking shouldnt be a problem but i cant access the phone because it requires a t mobile sim with internet connection for first time setup which i dont have.
So can anyone tell me what i can do
Get an unlock code and unlock it. Or borrow a T-Mobile sim.

If locked and seller said it wasn't...either return it for refund or ask them to credit you for cost of unlocking.
I was lucky in that I had the opposite in my eBay purchase, seller said it was locked to vodaphone, but my virgin sim card worked fine!
