SNote mini app - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

The Samsung SNote pop up mini app can be pretty useful for taking a quick note while using the tablet. But, each time you make a note and save it, then relaunch the mini app, it automatically just creates a new note. Is there any way to make it just reopen the last note.?

Best Notes app - Would prefer a Sense-like Widget...

Anyone point me in the right direction, I really like the HTC Sense Notes Widget found here However, I cannot get it to work because I've removed sense.
Any ideas or replacements - Thanks

Right now I use two things - evernote and notification notes. Notification notes is great for quick little notes...in my case, I usually use it for shopping lists. It holds the note in the task bar until you delete it, which makes for really easy access
Evermore is a cloud based note storage service that allows you to store text or media notes from your phone or pc, and will sync them between whatever devices you use it on.

After posting, I came across XM Notes - I like the interface but dislike appearance of the widget. My search continues
Have you tried GTasks? It does the trick for me.

I really like OnePunch its free off the market and places editable sticky notes on your screen or you can just use it as a note app and not bother with the sticky note feature. If you do like the sticky notes you can change the colors of them as well as edit them without worry of the need to delete and recreate them from scratch. I myself have one of my pages devoted to sticky notes.
Use Catch Notes (formerly 3banana) here.. Good stuff.
Evernote. Use it for all my lectures.

Note widget is the name of the one I use. Can have it have transparent background. It's also free.

Thanks everyone for the great input...
Some of your suggestions, although great, were a little more than what I was looking for. After some extensive market searching I found one that I really enjoy. Its called Staesj
I should have been a little more clearer on what exactly I was looking for. I was looking for a note app that would allow me to place a nice looking widget on one of my home screens, which ultimately would allow me to click on it and immediately edit it using a keyboard or a finger to scribble. I don't plan on using it as a to do list app or storing important notes but mainly for quick entries when on the road or on the phone (i.e. a phone number).
Staesj is a very simple, yet effective little app with a very small footprint. I came across other apps, specifically Multi Memo, which did EVERYTHING i wanted however I noticed a few drawbacks. 1) The app pulls a GPS location for every app entered (boo). 2) a separate widget app is required to display the notes on your home screen 3) seemed rather large for its purpose
if anyone comes across anything better, im always up for suggestions thanks.

Organizers elite - Samsung Memo?

So, no matter how long and hard I try to think, I cannot stop wondering how come Samsung's Memo application be so of high quality? When scrolling it through even without the most advanced lagfixes in the market and having dozens of Memo entries, scrolling by then even maximazing all entries, it still doesn't lag at all!
LIED!
The reality is actually everything but the above. To elaborate myself, I just CANNOT stop wondering how can this Samsung's Memo application LAG so much even if I only have 8 Memo entries and they are all MINIMIZED. Even with latest firmware, filesystem converted on ext4, it's still PURE PAIN to browse through my EIGHT Memo entries MINIMIZED!
Seriously, I know Samsung is not really known for their software, but how can they mess a simply text-only memo application so bad? I mean, haven't they ONCE tried to create a few memo entries and actually try to view them?
I wanted to like the Memo app, but it's just too basic, and to top it all, I can't delete memos!
I now use the ThinkFree office suite, or just note it down in a message.
I can recommend RememberTheMilk for cloud storage of notes/memos
AK Notepad all the way.
It also lets you export/import as a txt file to your SD card when you factory reset. You can also back up to an online account.

[Q] Use question

TPT users - I have been considering this tablet for some time. I am a huge MS Onenote user and I have been looking for an alternative to my tablet PC. I tried the HTC flyer, but the pen recognition was not that great. (At times it was like writing with a pen that was running out of ink.) My question is if anyone has experience using the TPT for note taking and then getting the inked notes into onenote for easy use in onenote? I would love to wiat for the Samsung Note 10" but it appears that date keeps getting pushed back and need a solution soon.
I have the View - essentially the same tab - and the pen recognition is great. Bad battery perhaps or perhaps not using the right note program there are several really great ones out there - LectureNotes, Quill, and many others. You can also use a TPT pen on the Flyer, and vice versa. I have used OneNote on the TPT but not often yet. Getting too many other great note taking results with text conversion when I want.
Check out the app 7Notes for HWR. Love it. Also MyScript Stylus, but more expensive.
Thanks
I appreciate the response. I actuallly sent my original flyer back to try a second unit. They both seemed to suffer from not registering all the pen marks consistently over the entire screen.
I used both LectureNotes and Quill. I liked them both better than the default note taking app, but the issue I had was getting the notes organized. That is why I love Onenote. I tried to move over to Evernote and used the export function on those notetaking apps to get them to work well together, but I was unhappy with all the extra steps and OneNote inking of notes was not as fluid either.
My hope is that by the time the Samsung Note 10" launches, MS will include the inking capabilities into the Android version of Onenote and I will be a happy camper.
How did you use Onenote on your TPT.
LOL Didn't use it. Logged in with Splashtop and used it remotely on my pc.

[Q]Some Must Have Applications for Note 3. Your Experience

Hi there
I was looking for some cool applications for Note 3 which you all are using. NO stock apps please.
Mainly I am looking to keep notes, looking at offline maps of cities (detailed), any way I could write with S pen and it is automatically converted into typed words. Other handy business applications that could be of help!
Thanks alot in advance!
Mobile Notes is a note taker that will transform your scribblings into digital text, LectureNotes is an excellent note taker for handwriting with S-Pen. There is also an calculator app that takes handwriting input.

MapsWithMe Pro. Brilliant offline map app, ridiculously detailed, it even lists benches and powerlines. Based on Openstreetmaps.Org as opposed to google maps.
Another app I've found to be incredibly useful is Sidebar Pro. It gives you a sidebar you can swipe onto the screen with a list of apps and toggles you can manually add (every app, not just a specific few) and also lists active apps you can open or swipe away to close.
There are free versions of both.

adblockplus (wifi only without root with the wifi proxy thing ) or ffox with adblock extension (no root).
likewise, norootfirewall. (it's a bit meh compared to android firewall...)
disablemanager to disable some of the bloatware (although samsung marks some bloat as essential so you need root)
appops shortcut - to revoke the permissions for some of the things I install. pity you can't revoke the internet one
FileManager - decent free file manager without annoying fremium
JetAudio - FLAC, folders, DSP, etc (although the shake to switch song feature breaks up audio when walking - must be the sensor monitoring or interrupt algo :/ )
ezPdfreader \ repligo - instead of adobe reader for PDFs to easier scroll/page zoom. (although reflow is not perfect on either. by far)
MultiLing keyboard - because although beta-ish, it's pretty amazing for one handed typing and YMMV may have better swype.
a mix of super backup and i'm not sure what, because without root there's not TBU
Any alt apps for watchon for the IR remote?
Try smart remote...its a paid app, but it works for everythind I have ...climate control, hifi, tv, cable..ect....basically I hve not touched any of my IR remote after installing this.

[Q] Getting Airview working globally

Hi everyone,
I'm a proud new owner of a galaxy s5 (tmobile) and was playing around with the airview feature on the device when I noticed it suddenly working on third party apps.
To clarify: I mean I was able to hover my finger three inches above the screen in applications like google chrome, and whatsapp in order to get similar functionality to what you get when you have AirView enabled for samsung apps such as messaging and internet browser.
I definitely thought it was cool but this 'feature' seemed to go away on it's own and I couldn't quite how to get it re-enabled for all apps or why it was enabled in the first place. (It remained working on samsung apps)
So I did some digging around and it seems that information on this topic is surprisingly limited given that this is a feature that existed on the Galaxy S4 and by now should have matured at least a little.
In any case one app that seemed promising is discussed in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705514
Unfortunately this app is quite unreliable (at least on the S5 with a TW rom) and the posters here seem at a loss as to the cause of its unreliability.
What I've found is that the issue seems to have to do with samsung apps messing everything up.
Basically if you manually enable the air view service using an app like activity launcher or even using the app linked above,
AirView will work perfectly in third party apps (provided that Airview is also enabled in the standard settings page).
However, if you launch any samsung app that uses AirView afterwards, then the service becomes disabled again as soon as you close that samsung app!
In other words what seems to be happening on the system side from samsung's point of view is this:
1)AirView option enabled in standard settings
2)Samsung app launched--> Airvew service starts
3)Samsung app quit --> Airview Service stops
Therefore, If you try to start the service on your own with an app like finger hover or manually, it will work until a samsung app is quit and sends a command to stop the service.
This explains why I originally observed Airview working on third party apps because its likely that when that happened, a Samsung app that used Airview quit unexpectedly before it could stop the Airview service. Therefore the service probably continued to work until I launched another Samsung app and quit it safely.
Now i'm not sure if samsung apps are closing the service because they're trying to save battery life or because they think that the cleanest way to use this service is to start it when you need it and stop it when you're done with it OR if they're doing this because they're jerks that don't want third party apps to be able to use this feature on this phone. Either way i'd like to get around it.
The way I see it, we can try to attack this problem using a couple of different methods:
1) We can try to modify samsung apps so that they no longer close the service on app quit <-- probably very difficult to do if not impossible
2) We can try to create a task that launches on every samsung app quit that restarts the service <-- probably bad on battery life and would negatively impact performance
3) We can try to create a task that launches the service on selected app launches (for example detect when a whitelisted app like chrome is launched, and starts the service for that app and quits it when the app is closed (much like how samsung does it)) <--probably the easiest method to implement but feels a bit like cheating
4) we can try to modify the service itself so that it can't be closed by apps <-- not sure how difficult this would be but would certainly like to test this method to determine negative side-effects.
What do you guys think? I definitely am looking for input on this so that we can solve this problem!
