[Q] Where are Nandroid files in 4.2 ? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have Clockwork 6.0.1.0 as Recovery, and have installed Android 4.2, maintaining root and recovery.
Previously (4.1 and earlier), backups are stored in /sdcard/clockworkmod. In 4.2 the location has been moved. Since I can still see the new backups when I go to restore, they must be stored somewhere. Where are they now?
Thanks.

I'm having the same issue with TWRP.

You should find them under /sdcard/0/clockworkmod/backup.

i cant find mine. there's no 0 folder in my sdcard.
there is /storage/sdcard0/clockworkmod/ folder, but thats the same as /sdcard/clockworkmod which has no backup folder.

Look through his last 2 days of posts on g+ he tells you what is going on with cwm and Rom Manager. He also, conveniently, tells you what cwm Is storing backups.

Can you spell it out for dummies like me, and just tell us where the backups are? I did go thru the Koush's posts and either I can't find the directories he mentioned, or they just have the exact contents of /sdcard/clockwordmod: i.e., the old recoveries from pre-4.2 are there, but not the ones done since 4.2.
Thanks.

And why the hell can't u just tell us? I get the whole " look before you ask" idea but this is getting silly...

Thanks for the straight answer on that, found my 4.2 backups there as well... I'm only quickly going to say, I am a far cry from a noob and this is a new issue with a new 4.2 system and a unique problem, people that withhold information that know it on something like this need not post at all... Getting attitude as if someone had asked how to boot up their device and steer them to some social site in hunt for a solution is childish... The XDA community as a whole is just awesome and it disappoints me every time seeing arrogant comments like that... Thank you for this info, had me confused just like the rest of you...

Hi
I am using Nexus 4 with PACMan ROM and Franco M3 kernel. I am not able to see the backups as well. I use the CWM recovery version that comes with Franco kernel. I went to \mnt\shell\ and i can't find the folder emulated there. I can't see the backups in \sdcard\clockworkmod also. There is only one file called .recovery_version.
Can you guys help me out?

Deleting Cyanogen

This may seem a rather stupid question, and I am 90% sure of it- but is it ok to delete the gapps and cyanogen file now that I have the new rom installed. Thanks for your patience!
Sent from an idiot
Yes it is ok to delete cm7 and install other rom.
Go to recovery and wipe everything first. Then install the new rom.
Edit: oh ... Now I got what you were asking. Lol....

Yes you can delete the file once it's installed, just remember it may be a good idea to keep them handy incase something goes wrong, you can just re install it (and wipe) to get it back working.
Hope that's what you meant!

TWRP 2.4.X.X on GTab 2 7"

It seems that the Gtab 2 7" devices do not have a current version of TWRP, the last one I found was an unofficial version, 2.1.1, from over 6 months ago. Anyway, I contacted Team Win member Dees_Troy via PM and he responded.
Quote by Dees_Troy:
Someone ported the p5xxx tabs and gave me the device configuration files so that we could add it to our official list. No one has done that with the p3xxx series though I'm pretty sure I could port them fairly easily if I can find device files and testers.
Edit: Forum member joeinternet was good enough to compile new TWRP builds for P3113, which also should work with P3110. He has compiled versions 2.4.1.0 and 2.4.4.0 and uploaded them to his dropbox. Here's Joe's post in this thread with links to the TWRP builds, both tar and image file. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38794003&postcount=10
Please also read through this thread for more info and be sure to thank joe for his work. I think it's probably a good idea at this time to use the 2.4.4.0 build.
Thanks,
Mike T

I replied back to Dees_Troy today and am waiting to hear back from him. But in the meantime, if anyone knows what he needs regarding device configuration files please respond here, as I'm not sure exactly what he will need. As for testers, I'm sure there will be enough of us on this forum to test it.
I think it would be great to get an official version of TWRP for our device, so any help here is appreciated.

TWRP 2.4.1.0 for GT-P3113
With the help of Dees_Troy, helicopter88, MrHyde03 and the various other guides out there, I compiled TWRP 2.4.1.0 for the gt-p3113. This is for the US-version wi-fi with the IR port. I've only tested it on my device and it works for backups, decryption and the like.
Files are here for the time being: one is for a straight dd within an adb shell and the other (.md5) is ODIN-flashable.

Good job! I will test later tonight. My thanks of course also to Dees_Troy, helicopter88 and Mr Hyde03. I hope others will test this so we can get it on TWRP's official list of releases.
One question, you mention the P3113. Will it only work on the 3113, or can it also work on P3110, even though it doesn't have the IR blaster? I have the 3113 but just thinking about the others. Thanks again for your contribution.

No problem. I'm not sure why the dropbox link is dead - I tried attaching it here without any luck. Let me know if you have any ideas of better hosting for them.
MrHyde03 has a Verizon version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061639
But I don't think that's for a 3110 version. As Dees_Troy pointed out, we'd need the files from the 3110 in order to do a build.

I just did a backup and I'm in the process of restoring it. I noticed that backups only go to external storage, I am unable to select internal. Is this by design? The restore just completed and all seems good. I'll try flashing some zips later tonight.

Thanks for testing and I'm glad to hear it (sort-of) worked.
I set it to build external by default as internal storage can get a little skimpy.
I think the error is that I built it thinking internal storage was at /sdcard, which has changed on 4.2. I'll have to tinker around with it to get it right. While I'm at it, I'll sync with the 2.4.3.0 tree.

Thanks Joe sounds good.
Small bug: When in TWRP if you select Reboot then Power off, it shuts down but when you power back up, it boots into recovery instead of into the OS. It's minor but I think it should be fixed. I haven't fully tested but flashed some zips successfully, as well as renaming backups.
Thanks,

Howdy - Which stock recovery are you requesting? MDB/MDC/MDL?
The best I can provide you at the moment is the MDC tar. Working on getting the Zip made. You can find those from the links in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258827
(And I need to take time and complete the Repo thread for our Section. I hope to complete this on the long weekend just ahead . )
Also - Might want to keep Questions in the Q&A section even though you're requesting something that should be found in the Development.
I second this too. I found an img but need a zip file
I need mdc. Let me ask you guys? If I get the img can I just manually put it in a folder to install or i need to actually flash?

Usually devs put some informations [d802, etc..]
If unsure, asking is the best
But anyway there should be a check in aroma / cwm which will tell if it's ok to flash on your device.

Thanks, just had issues figuring what themes would be ok to coach, tried a couple zip themer ones and no dice. Other I lost the status and softkeys.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
I would rather try the ones on this topic: 1
Or for statusbar -> 2
requires xposed + xthemer
Works fine for me.
The flashable ones would require prior nandroid backing up because most replace stuff.
