Poll:Happy owner, yet playing withthe tought of HTC One X. What about you?

I (as I believe most of you too) am a generally happy Note user since Dec. 2011. Really the best phone that I have owned in a while. Just wondering how many others have the same tingly thought about selling GN and picking up a HTC One X (considering that there are not major bugs)?
For:
1. Guaranteed ICS NOW(who knows when Samsung will actually deliver, they already proved that official statements /*cough*will be out Q1=FAIL*cough*/ don't really mean much to them, just profit).
2. I have never met anyone crazy about touchwiz. Quite the opposite with Sense.
3. 4 Core (yes, we don't know real word performance yet, but cant be that bad).
4. Apart from camera performance, HTC has more or less been on par, quality wise with Samsung. Maybe they finally go it right this time.
5. Free 25GB dropbox (or was that 50Gb Box?).
6. Looks sexy (at least on the pictures)
7. SGS3 hasn't even been announced not to talk of GN2.
Against:
1. I just cant get enough of the HUGE screen. No one would call One X small screen, but after Note everything seems small.
2. S Pen. To be honest I never ever use it. But its there and am sure some people do.
3. Its a solid phone. No ICS but what we have now works well.
4. No one really knows if the One X will be all that its said to be. No real reviews yet.
5. No SD card.
maybe: 6. Non removable battery. (I personally never remove it, but might be a con for some).
I know it will be easier to make a final decision when One X is actually out and can be bought. However, its just a couple of week away and I believe if its going to be great, then the used sales price of GN will drop (that is if many GN start to flood the pre-owned market).
Anyway, every new day I notice I am consider the option more and more. What about you?

You also forgot a couple more cons with the HTC One X...no SD Card slot and non-removable battery.

Thanks. I have added them. Why they didn't even come to mind is that I have a 16Gb sd in my GN and its more that enough for me. So the stock 32 would be enough too. Yet, I see how that can be limiting for some folks.
With regards to the battery I never personally remove it. I didn't know that a lot of folks did (apart from reseting, which I am sure the One X will have some pin hole for, to cut power).

In your Fors:
If I was in THAT big of a hurry I'd just put one of the ICS roms on it.
I messed around with one a bit ago, and it was already pretty usable as a daily driver.
The only 'For' which vaguely interests me is having quad core. Yet the phone I have is already plenty fast for the most part. A couple of games have a bit of lag, and I suppose quad core would be nice for that.
But am I going to trade my 5.3" screen and the s-pen for that? Not a chance.

Biggest con for me is it is still HTC. Ive used htc devices since the tmobile/cingular wing(or whatever the first one was) htc touch pro, tp2, tilt, tilt2 etc. But they always find a way to disappoint me.
Besides the greatest phone ever made HTC HD2(personal opinion), ive had nothing but issues with htc. I dont expect nothing different from the one x. Rather its tiny audio quality, dust, etc.

You can already get 50GB free from box if you install their app and I'd miss my OLED too much, so I won't. I also prefer the Samsung design.

What attracts most of HTC is the camera, but it must beat Galaxy note with a lot for me to change.

I also had htcs since the beginning and yes their best phone was the hd2 but they have come a long way and it is starting to show now. HTC is coming back that's what I think.

With my Desire HD I did not feel the need to flash AOSP or even a launcher, quite the opposite with TouchWiz..
And Paul O'Brien said that the screen on the One X makes the screen on his Galaxy Nexus looks dull and dated, and he is a reputable source of course..
So am also on the fense but will wait to see the reviews first and then judge, but I think the X is already a very appealing phone

Hmm not sure with that one. Sense hasn't changed much over the years either, which to me, is a little lazy from HTC.
I couldn't go back to a small screen and i use the s pen too much.

The question remaining is: Will they release updates to incremental android versions without delay (HTC is part of google alliance if i remember correctly)?
When LG first launched the first dual core with tegra 2 CPU and android 2.2, it took them almost a year to get to 2.3.3 and they suffered many bugs (random reboots, etc). I am extremely worried about the bugs this device will have. What if under certain circumstances a rogue stock app is using 100% of all CPUs and battery goes down in minutes?
You might say HTC is not LG, but being an early adopter to new technologies has been proven to be a not so good user experience.
As of now, even Nexus phones have differences in firmware versions. Some Galaxy Nexus devices still run 4.0.1 while others are on 4.0.2 .

Version 4.0.3 isn't even officially out for them, yet new devices launch with it, or update to it. The message that this gives me as a consumer, is that if Google isn't confident enough to release 4.0.3 OTA for the device ICS was designed to work with, its not ready to be used in our phones.
As a user, i don't get a clear picture as to why is all this mess happening.
It can't be that hard to mention publicly: " Android version 4.x.x will be available on your mobile phones in xx/xx/2012. We are currently working on X, Y, Z at the moment". If there are worries that they miss the deadline, its cool, they could just mention that " X, Y are giving us a hard time, we expect to have them worked out by xx/xx/2012 ". Users will respect that.
If they expect us to keep buying these uber-phones, with those prices and still treat us like we buy candy, that is hardly professional. Not to mention the frustration and the time lost while the phone is being serviced.

HTC SENSE could alone be a reason for moving towards ONE X.
Being a owner of HTC's from Touch Diamond days,I can vouch the software implementation is much better than samsung out of the box.
ICS and GB apart,I mean a $700 device plays out videos with black blobs is simply not acceptable.Though video is not a concern for me as I rarely watch them on the device but still you can't ignore it,with also many niggles left out.The whole problem lies with the optimization of things by samsung.They think we are the beta testers rather than testing themselves.
Apart from the screen dimension,1X would be a better choice for me.

I really liked HTC sense on my old Desire, so I like the look of the HTC One, however I love the size of my Note so I don't think I could move.
Now if HTC were to do a 5.3 phone....

No question there...

I wouldve have waited and gotten the htc one x after all its a quad core monster. But no, simply coz the screen is too small for me. welcome note, after all what good is quad core for games if there isnt a decent graphics card.

I am giving One X some serious consideration. But I would like to see some reviews first. And play with the phone in real life. And I really like the size of the Note screen. But it could be the one phone that kills them all in 2012. Like GSII in 2011. And dont forget about Galaxy S III. Or what Samsung is going to name it. Lets wait and see. The One X does look really nice though

At home we have two HTC HD2,and a Desire z,both are very good devices.
Software implementation on HTC are very good,specialy RAM managment,
I like the Note's screen size,but will test the One X if its snappier then will most probably get it,actually the only con that I find in the Note itself is its beeing a slow device,and I hate that.

I really like this phone, I like Sense, but as said above from another users there are a lot of persistent bug in Htc phones: poor audio (Htc Sensation I can barely hear the other person speaking), dust under the screen!!

The ONLY thing which will make me switch from the Note is the Galaxy S 3 which is GUARANTEED to be better in almost every way to the One X

*You can already get a Dropbox hack to give you the 25GB space which is easy to do, just go to "android" section on ipmart. I have already done it on my note and I have 25GB for 2 years
*4 core! really, I'm running a 4 core PC and the amount of applications that utilise a 4 core CPU on my PC are practically negligible. You will find it with android applications, how many support a 4 core CPU? or even dual core...and why? its not like your going to be doing some 3D CAD rendering on a 4+"screen android device.
Essentially your observations comes down to how shiny is that device compared to mine?
The note is a fantastic bit of kit and i think it will be a while before somebody comes out with something to better it.

I'm not sure about the S2 (as I never had one), but the Atrix seems to me a little weak. Both my Moto Droid 1 and 2 suffered pretty bad (dropped both several times, carried them in the same pocket as keys...) and, after more than one year of constant use, they both have no scratches on the screen.
My Atrix, on the other hand, got 2 scratches on the screen in the very first week I had it, didn't fall or anything. After this I searched the web looking for some reviews and saw some impact tests on youtube, even little drops made the phones' screen crash completely (or, at least, the glass)

no nividia driver... dont buy... S2 more resources.

Dont even think about it: Go for the Galaxy SII.
Both phones are ok, but the Atrix has Nvidia Tegra 2 Soc. Nvidia is the worst company in the world, no drivers for ICS, no updates, no customer satisfaction, nada.

The Atrix is a good phone, but its outdated now (Now it has two successors, The Artix 2 and Atrix HD). Even with its Duel core Tegra 2, its stock is Gingerbread, so unless your willing to root and flash newer android versions, that feature is useless. I know both of thse points apply to the S II, so I would recommend getting a newer phone that's not those two if you like to stay on the cutting edge.
However if you are limited in your phone choice or are for some reason die hard on getting these two phones I would say give the S II a try given its popularly and its moderately better features I see in the link you provided without any other research. (Bluetooth 3 vs. 2.1, a better camera, 1GHz vs. 1.2 GHz, among other things). But here's a few of the pros and cons I have had with my Atrix:
Pros:
- Durable, has taken a few good falls of 4 ft.+ (With a case of course.)
- Good sound quality on speaker and bright LEDs.
- Webtop is fun if you are a linux fan, which is why I keep a backup of stock so I can play with it once in a while (I run Jelly Bean)
Cons:
- Warms up on longish data usage (1 min+)
- My first Atrix's screen blacked out the night I got it.
- Wifi and Network reception is noticeably worse compared to other devices I have around.

The SGS2 is superior at the moment only because it has ICS. Once ICS comes out for the Atrix in the next couple of months, the Atrix is superior IMO. The Atrix will get JB with or without Motorola's help. We can't be sure either will get KLP. So, I'd go with the Atrix.

If you're on a budget, Atrix is much more repairable as no Glue was used. So, broken screens, headphone jacks etc are an easy DIY compared to the SG2. But, the Samsung has much better dev support. Battery life is also significantly better on the Atrix.
The biggest advantage is that you can get a cheap lapdock for under a 100$ & Atrix is cheaper to buy. For about fifty more you get a phone and a pad...
At the end of the day, it depends which features are more important for you, both are a good buy.

y if u are buying used one then go for galaxy s2 unless u dont have enough money then go for atrix there both great phones( i also like atrix 2 but bad camera and no unlocked bootloader) if u do drop ur phone i would get atrix. cause u wouldnt wanna be dropping expensive phone but i suggest galaxy s3 if u getting it new from at&t

I currently have both phones, and use the the atrix as a daily driver, but prefer the S2.

I currently own both phones. I use both each week, with the I9100 slightly more.
It's tough to say which one is better, since i9100 has a stable CM9 and the Atrix CM9 doesn't have all the drivers yet.
If you had to make a decision "today" I'd say get the i9100 since the screen is better (not in resolution but in looks) and it has the CM9 with CM10 gaining ground.
If you can wait, then wait this quarter and check out the CM9/10 Atrix reviews. The Atrix call quality IMO is better, and many can't live without the fingerprint reader.
Either way BOTH phones are a solid buy, and you really can't lose with either phone IMHO...

Back when I was due for an upgrade on AT&T I had this same decision to make. A friend of mine kept telling me how great the Atrix was but I hadn't ever seen one up close. Another friend of mine had the SII and I thought it was pretty cool but the battery life was horrid. After doing a lot of research (mainly sifting through phonearena) I decided to get the Atrix. After rooting and deblurring my phone with a cm7 ROM to match the cm7 on my friends SII, we did a lot of comparing. My Atrix benched higher in just about every aspect even on a 1GHz kernel and my battery life was better by far. After bumping up to 1.2GHz it was just overkill. I am more than satisfied with my Atrix. I'd say look for someone with both phones and look at them both.

The Atrix hardware has been pretty rock-solid for me. It is outdated by better phones now, but if you can pick one up for cheap, I say go for it. It is turning into a pretty sweet hacker phone, with good xda support.

I have a atrix 4g n defy... Defy is low end but a very good mobile with stable cm9 n cm10 roms... atrix 4g to be honest is a problem... but good hardware.... i will go for droid maxx next...

Possibly looking at the GS3, would like some opinions

I have a friend who is letting me use the upgrade on their line at the end of September to get a phone so I can keep my unlimited. As it sits right now I have a Galaxy Nexus. I love the phone but want something with newer tech. I had a few questions though.
The first being battery life of the phone compared to the GNex. I'm not at all satisfied with the performance of the Nexus regarding the battery. I average under 2 hours screen time and medium usage, and that sort of stinks. Since the S3 has the same size battery as my extended I have now, is the batter life good in those regards?
Secondly there are some good looking phones coming down the line. I'm a picky person when it comes to screens. Is the quality good regarding the screen? I have some burn in on my nexus and I don't know how the S3 is. Also, the nexus has an annoying issue where the screen loses sensitivity after a while. Does that happen on the S3 as well?
Would I be better waiting for the Note 2, RAZR maxx HD, or the HTC device or getting the S3?

Here's my personal opinion;
If you're looking for newer tech, why don't you wait for the new Nexus phone(s) coming around December? The S3 is bound to lag behind upcoming phones because technology is moving really fast.
Since the Galaxy S3 has the same screen as the Galaxy Nexus, it is bound to be affected by screen burns after a year or more. The screen quality is excellent but Super AMOLED screens are prone to burn-ins. The Note 2 has a better screen, in my opinion.
The battery life of the S3 is superb! Really. My friend's Nexus doesn't last long at all whilst my S3 can last for a long time!
Stick with the Nexus for now.

Thanks for the honest responses. I wish more companies would follow HTC and use super LCD2, the screen is awesome and crystal clear. I like the note 2 but I fear it might be just too big.

Just wait a bit for the optimus g or a bit more for the new nexus. The sg3 is great, but there are going to be a few better choises very soon, at least hardware-wise. Then razr maxx hd looks promising, It might be a good bet considering the google acquisition of moto...

I have never been a fan of LG, they always seem to be lacking. I heard a rumor about the new nexus being the 5 inch phablet from HTC. Not sure how I feel about having a super big phone. I'll have to check out the note 2 to figure out if I could handle it.

The razr maxx hd looks nice on videos and articles, but Its a bit thick and has a dual core cpu. Lg makes great hardware, but I've never liked the software and slow updates. There are probably going to be other devices with a s4 pro(quadcore) chip soon I would wait and go for one of those.

SGS3 is awesome... Best phone I ever had (and I had quite a few..).
Battery lasts me all day (just email, browsing & reading newsfeeds), no problem. Screen is nice, no complaints. The S3 is just gorgeous and really speedy. I use mine with a 64GB SD-Card, which is the reason why I passed on the GNex.. I need storage space for movies and music!
Best of all, I hook my S3 up to my 42in flatscreen TV (LG), and the picture is nice and crisp...

Sure, there will always be better & faster phones coming out, but this one just has everything you (probably) want.
Just one thing I really hate about the S3: the physical 'Home' button. HTC did that better on the Rezound (a crappy phone w/ a nice screen...), even though those morons gave it 4 buttons. - How dumb is that?
I certainly will never get another HTC as long as 'Sense' is around - even though I used to root all my phones and put Custom ROMs (preferably CM) on them anyway...
However, I have to admit that after using Samsung TouchWiz (in JB flavor) for the last 6-8 weeks, I have no desire switching to some always half-broken CM ROM anymore.
With TW, at least, all the features work.. right away!!!

I am having this phone and after using a store model I found it pretty smooth.

i have to honestly say this phone is amazing. not a single fault with it.
its heavily supported by the community, paranoid android is amazing too. etc etc etc.
but as always, just look at what you need. theres never any point looking for the greatest tech, because another this or that will come along in a month and be the new 'best'.
for me, external SD card was a must, removable battery is always nice, etc etc.
either take the dive and get an S3 which will be a really really solid phone for the next 12 months and probably longer, or wait another 6 and get the next big thing, be it nexus, galaxy, HTC <insert name here>... but just make sure it does what you need (and with the number of custom roms out there, this is becoming more and more flexible)

Same here, this phone is great, lots of fun and also needed an SD card and battery I could swap. Nothing worse than arriving somewhere and having to wait for the phone to charge!

I was thinking of jumping from the Sensation 4G with Tmo to the GS3 since they are offering an upgrade 2 months early...I think I will stay with my rooted Sensation a bit longer its awesome anyways but I think Tmo will be getting a new line up before Christmas...Im considering the Note 2 but it may be too big Im not sure yet...just dont wanna waste an upgrade and a month later the lastest and greatest hit the market....

I had the Galaxy S3 and I hated it.
Found it very uncomfortable to use. Impossible to operate in one had. I would try it out yourself, i wish i did, its not as smooth as everyone makes out. However, i was advised to do lots of things to it which would have made it smooth like rooting etc (i couldn't be bothered with the hassle of that)
Screen is very good but not as good as other phones and its really bad in sunlight. Almost unusable.
Dont know what battery other people have got but its not very good. You wouldn't get through a day with it thats for sure. Android fans had a tough time over the years with battery but this is an improvement.
Also, the device is not very pretty as others seem to think. Again this is personal preference. Its very plasticy and flimsy. One drop and its dead. Poor build quality.
As you can see my post is very negative due to the experience I had with it. Personally, if your an android fan wait til december.

An opinion, that most people do not share. I would just wait for the next Nexus or look at what HTC is brining out. Something tells me the new Nexus phone may be a disappointment, I do hope I'm wrong though

Ive had mine for about 5 days so ill give you mine so far.
Pros:
1)One of the best if not the best form factor for a phone with this kind of screen.
2)Audio is excellent. If you play music with your phone, youll love it.
3)Quite a good looker.
4)Quite snappy.
Cons:
1)Camera is very average. Can be improved with settings but who wants to change those everytime for a simple picture.
2)Support is very bad atm. There are barely any roms for it and bootloader is still locked so any major support wont come for a while.
3)Its quite expensive for what its got.
4)Internal memory is low (8GB) and to make it worse, its troublesome to move big programs to the sd card since its not officially supported.
5) This is a big one, since Jelly Bean there is no USB Mass storage. I suggest you read on this is you need direct access to your memory cards.
Lasltly id say the screen is outdated BUT it makes up for it with its punchy contrast levels. Its also very readable in the sun so its so-so.

Lasltly id say the screen is outdated BUT it makes up for it with its punchy contrast levels. Its also very readable in the sun so its so-so.

a lot of this is going to depend on what device you are coming from.
but, i really enjoy this phone a lot. i believe that software is going to be the same as with any other device with JB on it, so that becomes a wash. the camera is actually quite nice when you set it to HDR, otherwise, below average at best. it's not too expensive, just $50 from VZW (or you can buy off-contract for about $250).
you can insert your own memory card - so that helps with storage issues; but the battery is not removable.
but I recommend it if you want a smaller device that fits easily in your pocket.
the best feature of all (in my opinion) is the battery life. most folks can get a least 24 hours in between charges.

So I've only had this device a few days, but so far I like it a lot.
I came from the DNA, which I only could take for about 2 weeks. It's just too damn big. I'm not a small guy, but a NBA player or someone with similarly large hands is what the DNA is made for.
Prior to the DNA I had the Incredible 4G. Very similar form factor and while it technically has a smaller screen, I would say the screen on the Inc4 is much better. But the Razr M seems to be just fine for me. I'm not glued to the screen watching movies.
The battery life so far seems better than the Inc4. I can't say for sure as I'm still trying to decide which ROM is going to be my daily driver (Currently on Eclipse with Apex and I'm really liking it.)

This phone does not get nearly enough credit!
I have had it for about 2 months now, and the battery life is great if you use it for just talk and text, I can get a full day of moderate browsing on and off of wifi (I am a student and a university). I get up at 8 and don't plug it in to 10pm, and it has about 35%. This is with the stock JB that comes with it. Despite the low resolution of the screen It looks just as crisp as my friends SG3. I will say that for what I use it for HD screens are pointless.
The phone fits perfect in my hand, and i would guess that my hands are a little smaller than average. Development is growing steadily for the phone, I have been running the Eclipse rom on it for a few weeks now Via safestrap, but I just installed it to the stock slot today, so there is potential for more.
I love the design of the phone as well, very small bezel on the side. The soft buttons on the screen, that change depending on usage are great. All in all the phone has a great form factor.

I agree this phone deserves more credit. It has just as much power under the hood as the sgs3 except for 1gb less ram. Draw back is as someone already stated is the internal memory is smaller but the battery life kicks the S3 s ass.

I'm not sure what you paid for your phone or where you got it, but this might be the last phone on earth I'd call "expensive". While I agree on some of your other assessments, the phone is awesome for it's price.

Well i dont know where you got yours either but i can gurantee you for its price, its features are very sub-par. I paid $430 for mine on ebay (XT907) and that was cheap. Locally most telco's here have the XT905 close to $500 outright.
Compare the XT905/907 to the Xperia TX. The TX has a bigger and higher resolution screen, Better camera with the same dual core krait architecture. You can get it for $380. And to make it worse, the TX was released AFTER the Droid M/M.
For its feature set, this phone should be well below $350, i dont know how or why Motorola came up with such prices. Probably because of the form factor. Some people dont mind that, myself included but I KNOW alot of people put off by the pricing of this phone.

$99 (upgrade) w/2 year extension. It's "free" now on Verizon's site with a 2 year contract. I'm sure you have your reasons why you paid as much as you did, but I only upgrade when I have one available through Verizon. I'm cheap like that. At the time, a Razr Maxx was priced at $399 (w/contract). $99 as opposed to $399 is considerably less expensive. They aren't marketing this phone as if it's Motorola's flagship device. I knew the specs, and for what I need it has served me incredibly well.

Couldn't have said it better myself! I miss the resolution on the gs3 but that's about it. 32GB card in this phone makes the measly internal storage a non-issue.

Phone comparison/alternatives to Ri

After spamming the 4.4 update thread with phone comparison things, I decided to open a new thread.
Here we can compare other devices with the RAZR I and debate about stuff like that.
Now I will start.
After getting more and more problems with my RAZR I I decided to buy a new phone. I was searching for several weeks and now I have a moto X.(in Germany, bought via eBay, using Verizon KK ROM with fully supported German language)
What I have noticed so far:
-the X perfectly fits in your hand with a acceptable weight
-the battery consumption is better than the Ri's ( I get easy 20h of (my) normal use; Ri got only ~17h)
-the screen have a much higher resolution
-the X have a better performance, up to now I doesn't had any lags.
-the voice from outgoing calls is very clear, a bit better than the Ri; the voice quality of incoming calls depends on the calling phone
-both cameras of the X are better than the Ri's, but it have also problems when the light is low
-active display and touchless control are pretty neat

I think it is not fair to compare the Razr i against the X. The Moto X is without question the better phone by far, but that comes along with the fact that the X is a fully fledged flagship model of an Android and the Razr is and was a budget phone with medium specs. So a comparison can only be fair, if you compare it to phones in the same league like the Moto G, HTC One Mini, Samsung 4 mini and so on..
I recently had a Moto G in my hands and I can say that this phone is really remarkable, nice specs, nice design and it works like a charm. The only things that I noticed that are not to my liking is the bad camera and it is a bit too big for its own good. For my personal taste 4.3 is a perfect form factor, 4.5 is 0.2 inches too much. Also it is a bit thicker than the Razr i, so with my tiny little hands the G felt a bit bigger in my hands. Im not sure, if I just have to get used to that, but I really like the slim look and feel of the Razr i in comparison.

I picked up a G over Christmas to cheer myself up a bit and to find out what all the fuss was about - is this phone really as good as they say for such a ridiculously low price? Well in my opinion yes, and more.
I'd had a number of frustrations with my XT890: random lagginess, certains apps not being compatible, battery life not being quite as good as I expected, amongst others. The one thing I absolutely love about the '90 though is the form factor and build quality, so IMO how does the G stack up against it? Well it's now very much my main phone.
Overall I find it's quicker and smoother with nowhere near as many lags, although whether this is down to JB 4.3, the chip, or a combination of both I have no idea, but for me it works better. The build quality is exemplary. It doesn't in any way look or feel like a plastic phone and is a rock solid build, which is a lesson Samsung should learn and I'm not talking about their budget end either. Battery life is better, beautiful screen, and couldn't be happier. True, the camera's c*** but I'm not going to use it anyway,so a big thumbs up!

Thank you for the voice quality comparison on the Moto X that is great info!!!! Can someone comment on the same thing regarding the G?

But it's only the X's screen size which is bigger than moto G's. These phone have nearly the same shape.
And the moto x doesn't feel so big.
To the problem with no SD-card-slot:
Yes that was the one point annoying me, but to be serious, even the nexus phones haven't such a slot and Google presents how they think a android phone have to look like with this phones, so I think the sd-card-slot will die out slowly.
So I bought a developer edition with 32GB of storage. That is enough for me, I've used the RAZR I with the internal 8GB plus a 16GB SD card and even that was okay.
On the other hand we have to look at the battery consumption. A device which have to handle a internal and a external storage needs more energy. Also are SD cards mostly slower than the build in storage, which means that we lose performance.

In my opinion the SD card slot is only needed, if the phone has insufficient internal memory. 16 GB is just not enough for today's needs. At least for me it is not. 32 and plus of storage is a must have. That's why I didn't get a new nexus device or will not get the Moto G.

I agree on the storage issue. My iPhone 5s has 64GB and only has about 20 gigs left. It will probably be quite full in a year or two. Why phones aren't offered with 128 or heck even 512 gigs is beyond me. They are the main computers in many of our lives now. They can charge pretty much anything they want for it and a lot of us will pay.

the asus zenPhone 5'@720p, atom z2580, 8gb + sd card, android 4.3, update to 4.4, for only 150 U$S its really the moto g killer.

I found the LG Nexus 4 a great replacement for my old Motorola Razr i, and it's even cheaper here on my country...

I'm thinking about to sell my Razr i for 200€ and buy the Moto G for 169€ or even the one for 199€. My Razr i looks like freshly taken from the box, not one scratch, nothing. And there is a 64GB memory card with it. If I install the stock ROM then there is only the warning about the unlocked bootloader that reminds you that it is a used device.
I bought the 64GB card to listen to music, back when I was going to school but now it's a different situation and I don't have the time to listen to music on my smartphone, especially since I have a car now. And even if I wanna listen to music on my phone I think 16GB or even 8GB would be enough.

I'm really not trying to troll here, just relaying my experience over the last two months:
I've been on Android for 3 years. Before, I was using WindowsMobile 6, and version 5 before that, until Microsoft stupidly killed that incredibly diverse ecosystem and made me and millions of others jump to Android. I had a clamshell Razr V3i before that that was an astonishingly good and beautifully hackable phone for the time - it was a great web browser with opera mini and I could email from it too, fantastic voice quality that could be tuned with a hex editor, and excellent radio/reception. It took a microSD so I used it as an MP3 player too. Moto typically has great build quality and radios though they definitely have released some total junk phones along the way too, I think I had a V551(??) that was dog poop, and several moto phones the camera broke on for no reason, usually a hardware failure like one of the internal lenses becoming dislodged, even if the phone was never dropped.
My *personal opinion* is that Android was most stable, useful and hackable at version 2.3 and has had been becoming progressively less stable and ever more locked down since. I have a Nexus 7 that I just leave stock and let it autoupdate whenever it feels like it to see what the latest edition of Android and latest versions of all my apps always look like; I've watched in horror as android and the Android app ecosystem has become a bug ridden laggy crashy malware adware spyware filled unholy mess over the last 12 months, as bad as Windows 98/XP ever was. Previously, as an android user I had always felt a little bit... i don't know... "more savvy" than iPhone users because Android was (supposedly) less expensive and I could make it do anything I wanted. But with the update to 4.1 on my RAZR i, I could no longer WIFI tether (it could tether with 4.0 but then Moto locked out tethering HARD and no one has figured a way around it) and that just made me really POed.
Then I also thought about it and realized I had EIGHT android devices and I was spending a ton of money always buying new android phones because that was usually the only way I could run the latest OS. I've for three years always been waiting/hoping that I'll get the next version of android when it is released, and usually all my hopes were dashed. Yes I did all the cyanagenmod/etc reflashing stuff for a while but that's always a little risky and after 10 or so flashes constantly trying out roll your own OS turns into a real time consumer, often gives me new bugs when I was trying eliminate other old bugs, and for some devices, namely the RAZRi, sometimes just not an option. My original Moto RAZR has a locked bootloader that was never really worked around. I was getting so sick of waiting around all of the time.
And I was noticing that there were people with iPhones many years old still using them, still happy with them. I played with a friends iPhone 3GS a year ago and was impressed with how smooth it was even then with supposedly far less hardware than my RAZR, and how happy she still was with it - and I noticed how aggravated I was with my RAZR.
So WTF, two months ago I bought a new iPhone 5s 64gb. It was Very
Expensive... but not really compared to the highest end Moto X, which was the other phone I was considering.
At first it was super annoying, not intuitive at all coming from android, lots of the design decisions seemed stupid. But I stuck with it, finally got used to everything about 3 weeks ago, and now two months after purchase I can say from my heart, and my head, it just blows Android out of the water right at this time. It is ROCK SOLID in hardware build and software stability, an order of magnitude above any android devices. I just can't stress enough how stable ios is compared to android. It took me many weeks to figure out all the workarounds I needed to do stuff like tethering, swype, etc, but now it does everything I can do on android.
I have two phones (work/personal), and this week I needed a second phone to replace my Razr i (which now has a new issue of blurry focus camera that I fix by banging it with my hand... i never dropped it... sigh), so I I just bought a used perfect condition 64gb Iphone 5 for $400. Goodbye Android for now.
There are hundreds of teensy little software and hardware design decisions in the iPhone that just make it so *pleasant* to use all the time. It makes all versions of android seem so rough and unpolished when I use my other android devices.
In the long run I think the iPhones will be either a wash cost wise, or maybe a little cheaper because now I can instead of buying a new Android phone every few months in hopes of finally having one that is solid and stable, I'll likely keep these iPhones for 2-3+ years and I'm guaranteed years of the most recent OS, available as soon as announced. But cost aside, ios is just a completely stress free experience that lets me get on with life.
Oh one last thing, the responsiveness of the iPhone is *phenomenal* I read a few months ago this is because the electronic hardware itself for the touchscreen has about 1/3rd the lag time between touching the screen, and the OS getting the signal. It makes the display feel really really good all the time. Now when I use any android touch screen it just feels so slow and annoying. Battery life is at least double the RAZR i in my experience so far, mostly because there is never any crap running in the background that I can't turn off, like is always happening in android as soon as I add more than three apps.
I'm not an apple aficionado at all; as soon as I find something better than iPhone I'll jump ship immediately, but as far as I can tell iPhone 5s is the best there is right now.
tl;dr: the iPhone 5 and 5s are mindblowingly good compared to the hell and heartbreak that android has turned onto. YMMV

Unfortunately, I must agree. Apple is doing so many things better with iOS than Google with Android. I always liked Android for openness, community, tweaking abilities ... currently I even write soft for Android at work ... but still, I'm always waiting for new version of Android that will fix problems from current version, I'm looking for custom ROMS that will eliminate constant lag and solve other problems.
I liked Google because it was the best software company in the world, company that ideology I liked, but now ... it's changing. They've still got good software but ads are getting more aggressive than ever, Android is getting more and more closed, and it will be fully closed in future, so maybe it's time to start searching for something new. But anyway I think that Android will be the most popular OS for very, very long time.

Yeah, I have to say, that you have right with much things you've said, but you couldn't forget that iOS is build by apple, so they can perfectly fit the software to the hardware and vice versa. Android is open source and Google couldn't specify it for one device, it have to be as much stable as possible for a lot of devices, that is the problem. That's the same with every open source os.

Well, I just made the switch from Razr I to the Moto G, just because I was offered a good price for my Razr (pristine condition) and couldn't resist.
Wasn't expecting much really, but it actually feels like a good upgrade. The screen is TONS better and with Kitkat the menu buttons now are completely hidden in most apps, making the screen really 4.5 inches. The overall feel is faster, especially with apps like Maps and Chrome. Games run faster as well, for example Asphalt 8 plays perfect on high settings, while on the Razr I will run only on low.
The downsides are plastic instead of the metal and kevlar on the Razr, the screen is not edge to edge and the camera is worse (also no 1080p video).
But for me the bigger and better display and the faster performance are worth it.

I currently think about getting a Sony Z1 Compact.
