Anyone who is coming from a s3 and all ready have an N4 in hand what are your thoughts and was it worth it, I just ordered N4 and currently have s3.
Hell, I went from the Galaxy SIII back to the Galaxy Nexus after just 4 weeks. I couldn't stand the physical home button and how poorly the AOSP ROMs were running on it. Even now no ROM (including CM10) is 100% rock solid on the SIII.
The N4 will be an upgrade in the software experience alone. Not to mention the better processor and build quality.
My n4 should come tomorrow. I have a s3 (international) also and will report back.

cm10.1 has already made an option to disable the onscreen softkeys so that wouldnt be a problem..ill give it a month, and the n4 community will blow both s3 and onex's communities out of the water..

Agreed. Can't wait till mine gets delivered in the next few days. :cyclops:
Luckily I'm moving over the next couple days so my mind will be occupied in the meantime.
Im tired of waiting for official Jelly Bean and not so impressive dev work/community for S3. Screen currently has a cracked line somehow and I never dropped it or let anyone use it .. happen in my pocket somehow? IDK. When N4 comes, gonna get the S3 replaced and sell that new.

This will be an interesting comparison. While I would never touch the US SIII, I would consider the international SIII. Would be nice to see a comparison of games like Dead Trigger, Modern Combat 3, Nova 3, Real Racing 2, NFS Most Wanted, etc. for compatibility, smoothness, load time, stability, etc.
In Canada, with a North American S3. Also making this switch. Looking forward to it...if it ever ships!

Yes I'm just wondering on the comparison to the s3 since in my opinion is the top phone right now.
I have an s3 now and even though I love the look of AMOLED screens (my htc desire, s2 and s3 all have them) the s3's is just too dim and I like red, but can't have red wallpaper as it is extremely pixelated, thank you pentile. Anyway my nexus 4 should be here tomorrow, I am planning to do a comparison video as soon as I can between the n4 and s3 for my you tube channel, I will put a link here when I am done. Is there anything you would like me to specifically look at?

I had the S3 and I hated the physical home button with a passion and went back to my GNEX within two days. I got my N4 today from T-mobile, sold my GNEX and I not looking back.
I am not into games or surfing the web on my phone, I mainly use it for my email, calender and daily task list and I am more then happy with my new N4. As I said in my first impression thread, I know allot of folks where skeptical about LG building the Nexus instead of Samsung, but I would think Google would not risk the Nexus line integrity and the LG version will be fine, only time will tell. Can't wait for CM10 to be ported to the phone so I can root it and have even more fun. Just my opinion for whats it's worth.

Sorry, but this is the SILLIEST thing i've read in a long time. FreeGS3 (my favourite) runs like boss on the S3, so does BlackBean ROM (AOKP, my 2nd favourite). CM10 stable just came out on the 13th and is running great as well.
GS3 was my dream phone. I couldn't afford it unlocked though. Not sure why anyone would sell a gs3 for any other phone.
Not saying the nexus 4 isn't awesome but a gs3 is sweet for sure..

More so than the Note II? Cost aside I'd probably go with Note II 1st then it's toss up between international 4-core S III and Nexus 4.
Yeah, I love the Note...not sure I would have sold that ...these are all awesome phones. Unless your contract is done or your phone is outdated I don't know why anyone would sell a new note or gs3..

I have the i9300, an international HOX and I just returned the Optimus G (wanted to see the difference between N4). I bought the N4 today from T-Mobile in the states. I've had it about 8 hours now and it's replacing my 9300 as my daily driver. I used to own the Galaxy Nexus too for comparisons sake.
It hasn't been long enough to give a huge amount of comparable differences but there are a few things that stand out between the N4 vs. 9300 to me.
1. The build quality! It's super solid, looks mint and feels really premium. My girlfriend is a huge fan of soft touch polycarbonate and she rubbed it all over her face when I showed it to her. I promptly snatched it back. With the exception of the HOX I'd have to say it's the best built Android device ever, and I've owned just about all the flagships. The checkered pattern on the back is very nicely done, more subtle and better looking than it's Optimus G variant.
2. It's fast! I was able to do a restore of 100+ apps when I popped my sim in and still peruse the settings, use Chrome while it was doing it's thing with barely a hiccup. The transitions when multi-tasking and such are also noticeably smoother. I was previously running the Siyah kernel on the S3 UV'd/OC'd and thought that was blazing but the N4 easily tops it in the responsive and smoothness factor. No lag anywhere so far, some of that may be attributed to more butter in 4.2. It does however get noticeably warmer on the back than my S3 ever has.
3. The screen is very nice. Way better than the GNex, the brightness of the screen definitely separates it from the S3 and the IPS further separates itself from the S3 when it comes to small text. I always set the default text size to small and it was immediately noticeable it terms of clarity. I can't really tell the difference between the HOX and the N4 screen wise.
I've been using an international S3 since June and just got a Nexus 4 today. I love it honestly. It's built great, for some reason seems much smaller than it actually is. Love the screen, love the overall feel etc.. I'll come back and add to this post after I've had it for a bit longer.. I put my S3 on craigslist about 2 hours after I picked it up tho if that helps at all.. This is the smoothest phone I've ever owned by far and here is a short list of some of the most recent ones I'm comparing too.. International S3, Nokia 920, iPhone 4s, Galaxy Nexus...

Now I think it's a very hard decision for Note users to change to new SIII! I may consider the huge & continuing market share assigned for Note will badly affect sales of the new SIII device! Just a comment ;-)
I do like SIII, but I love my Note!

Definitely not giving up the Note for the S3. Why lose half an inch of display for a couple extra cores that won't be fully utilised yet?
Yea... I believe the Note is still picking up momentum. Im definitely going to hold on to it for a whole longer. Having more fun with the international version than I ever did with the ATT model.

Saw s3 this morning at three shop (had to ask as they cant display) the s3 is Amazing but the note is better
The display on the s3 is amazing and there isnt much different between the note and the s3 but the note has a pen thats the seller for me
The back on the s3 also is very flimsy
My advice if u have the note dont bother
If u havent got the note get the s3

I will consider S3 only when XDA Dves give up on ICS bug, which it wont happened, so..
I love my Galaxy Note, I love it to bits
I ordered an S3 and looked at the forum in xda.
The thing that was swaying me was the sound....the better dac...the wonderful Blu ray that works better for sound....
But I agonised daily about giving up my lovely note.
In the end I cancelled the S3 because the Note is better in some ways and it won't be that long till the Note 2, (probably a better version of the S3), comes along.
In many ways the Note is a better version of the S2 now.So presumably the note 2 will better the S3.
Funny thing about the S3 is that you can buy a pen for it LOL
And a big chunky pen it is too
I kinda thought if the s3 had allready been released and the Note was just being released, I think I would have wanted the note
So for me I stick with the Note for now.
Guess IM lucky got an s3 coming for work so can play around but for me the note wins as my personal choice

About me i don't like s3 at all infact it's not even fair to compare between them. Galaxy s3 is new version from galaxy nexus they increase the rubbish battery which is in nexus with one bigger.. and putting micro sd which isn't available in G nexus that's all. Stucking with note until new note...

I had the sii and loved t the note b but as my contract was e ending the siii came a along. I managed to see it yesterday and loved it but not more than the note. I have now b bought the note I am a so happy that I did.
Still getting used t to it but its incredible.
I preordered the S3 about a month ago and was patiently waiting for it.
Then I had a play with my friend's Note and realised the main reason I use my phone now is as a media/Internet/texting device and only occasionally as a real phone.
So the size of the display won it over for me and I've cancelled my S3 order.
No regrets and I doubt I'll be bothered at all when the S3 comes out next week.
Having been an iphone man for years now and having test drove the HTC Desire & Sensation before returning both of them, I've finally found an Android device which I can honestly say beats the pants off the iphone.

The successor the Note would be a more accurate and worthy upgrade imo, but even then I will probably wait for the 3rd generation Note as I'm pretty satisfied with my Note at the moment.
Is the Samsung Premium Suite on ICS making the Note Pen really useful/amazing? This would help me decide between Note/S3.
Ill use this thread instead of making a new one, even if it is slightly offtopic:
I have a galaxy nexus at the moment and love many things about it, but the lack of a microSD slot is a shame.
So i wanted to get a SIII next week, which i consider as a nexus with two more cores, a sd slot, a bigger battery, and, the only downside for me, touchwizz.
Today i was able to play around with a note and i instantly fell in love with the big screen. Now i have some questions to you to eliminate any surprises when switching to it from a nexus:
1. Which would you consider as the best rom at the moment? The nearer to a clean ICS rom the better.
2. Is ICS officially released for the note?
3. Is there a bugfree version of the aokp rom?
I know that my questions are allready answered in this forum, but i did a search and went through many threads without any clear answer. Thank you very much

The GS3 will have a "C-Pen", will come as an accesory at some point.
The S3 is definitely a better package than the note. I had the note back in February for about a month and I loved it! And I know that people who who got used to the note screen have a hard time going back to a smaller screen. That is the note pros and cons, the screen. Pros cause it is a beautiful big ass screen that lets you do pretty much anything, awesome to watch vids on it, S-pen is fantastic in my opinion. The con isn't that it's just too big, the con is that once you use the note for a while you can't go back to a smaller screen, for real. After I sold my note ( I kinda regret it a Lil but what the hell) I had the Galaxy nexus and when I received it I thought it was a nexus S with a 4inch screen cause I thought the screen was so tiny. It's crazy! But anyway back to the topic, I think if somebody were to buy a phone today, definitely go with the Galaxy S3. More powerful,4.8 inch isn't that bad, has a Cpen, more features ect... But for those who own the note, gotta wait for the note 2 as it will definitely be quad core plus other features that will take advantage of its massive beautiful screen.
im considering swapping over.
for all those saying the extra 2 cores wont be used... google already announced a while back that the ICS browser supports the full use of quad cores... plus, nvidia have been out in the market earlier with their tegra3 in the transformer prime, so nvidia have sponsored some devs to get them to make their games more quad core friendly. so right now, if going quad, it makes more sense to go nvidia since they have the dev support, or run chainfire3d and leech off the support nvidia is giving its devs.
and also, sure, the s3 may have the same GPU. but its heavily overclocked compared to the mali400 in our notes. i dunno about you, but im tired of games stuttering on my note. my PC plays everything at max detail at 100fps plus, so dropping down to the note where everything runs at 15-35fps is annoying as hell. you guys try playing a rhythm game where it stutters, it completely throws off your rhythm and hurts the playability of the game. heck, mass effect infiltrator is frustratingly stuttery. i seriously hope ICS will fix this for me when it becomes available OTA.
the inductive charging feature of the s3, plus the wifi tv link accessory would be quite useful for me as it would make things less messy.
but i couldnt care less about the software additions that samsung have made. they seem more like novelties that i wont really use much.
although, i'll probably end up waiting till later this year to see if tegra3+ is any good (think tegra3 but on 28nm and oc'd with LTE) and LG's quad core krait + adreno 320 should prove interesting in its LS970.
Im do for an upgrade and have been wanting the note for sometime now and was going to get it this weekend because of its large screen and my interest of reading on my phone but I just read the article in laptop mag about the SIII and now im split between the two.
Right now I'm using tmobiles s2 and i outgrew this screen already, how long b4 i outgrow the sIII.
IM running official ics now and i know both will come with it so that's not a factor
Question is should i suck it up with the extra half an inch diff and go for the iphone killer, or buy the note?
I really need some opinions. Thanks

This was a tough decision for me as well, but I ultimately went with the S3 over the Note because:
The Note was released in November of 2011 (February 2012 in the U.S.) and is now "old". It's basically a Galaxy S2 with a bigger screen and a stylus.
The Note 2 is due out in only a few more months (October if the rumors are correct), and will have SGS3 guts with a possibly even larger display than 5.3" (and smaller bezels hopefully). It'll also share the SGS3's design whether or not you like/hate it.
The S3 has a 4.8" 720p screen which is still very large, coming the closest to the Note's 5.3" (though not 1280x800).
I couldn't upgrade until May anyway; it was just one more month to wait for the S3.
The Note's display exhibits a black crush problem where there's a huge jump in contrast between black and the next darkest greys.
The international Note gets way more developer love than the U.S. variant, but that won't be the case with the insanely popular and very similar S3s.
My next decision is whether or not to trade up my S3 up for an international Note 2 in October. The next Nexus' in November should also be nice, but not as enticing in my eyes.
I decided to exchange my Note for the Galaxy S III. Some of my reasons were personal preferences so they may or may not apply:
1) I felt the screen on the Galaxy note was ever so slightly too big. When I was in the store that was my initial impression. I hoped I would warm up to it a bit better. I did, but it still wished it were slightly smaller. I wanted something in between the Skyrocket and the Note, and the S3 is right there.
2) I was not impressed with the S-Pen. I found it to be inaccurate most of the time. There was no way to calibrate it and it was often inconsistent. Maybe there was a problem with my unit, but I think I just expected too much out of the pen-based input. Even if it did work better, the only time I used it was playing Draw Something. I'm not the artsy type, so I never used it for drawings or taking notes. There were very few applications built in that took advantage of the S-Pen or even the large screen size. Perhaps there will be when Samsung finally releases the Premium Suite, but at this time they still haven't and there's no telling when that or the ICS update will finally arrive.
3) The internals. Qualcomm S4 is better than S3. Adreno 225 is better than Adreno 220. 2GB of RAM is better than 1GB. Since I was going to be stuck with it for the next two years, I wanted the best hardware I could get.
4) Random extra features, such as the better camera, gesture controls, S voice, etc. While they were not dealbrakers they were certainly intriguing.
5) Better updates (hopefully). Since there is much more uniformity among the S3 models in the US they should be updated quicker without as long of a wait from the carriers. This of course remains to be seen.
The Note was definitely the best choice for me when I first got it. I had no desire for the One X without external storage and a removable battery. However I was never expecting the Galaxy S3 to come out as soon as it did! I'm glad that I was able to exchange it within 90 days. Costco is awesome.
Thanks for the info. I'll be getting the SIII. Hopefully it comes out on my birthday 28th. That would be a nice treat to my self.

The note isn't pocketable and the build quality is way cheaper. My opinion. It has a cool built in pen though.
I got the note when I switched to at&t last month. I loved it at first but after a week I decided it was just too big. I didn't find the S-pen very useful and I had to contort my body in weird ways just to get it out of my pocket.
It's really a phone you won't know about until you try it at least for a few days. I knew I had 30 days to exchange it, so I preordered the galaxy s3 and couldn't be happier.
I never had any problems with pocketing my Note, but the S4 and 2GB of RAM made up my mind pretty quickly. I will probably wind up with the Note 2 when it comes out.

Ive been a galaxy user since the i9000, and even that was a quality phone, ive since played with the GSII, the note, and have had the GSIII since opening morning in canada.....dont underestimate samsung and their 'plasticy' feel....they know how to make quality stuff...
I bought the galaxy S3 on the release date.
First i was quite happy with the new exciting features but soon been dispaointed with a lot of manufacturing processes issues.
Overheating, black spots on screen, feeling in hand so-so because of the rounded corners and we can easily drop it on the floor, call quality problems and some lack of real developpement on our North America Device because of the International version who takes the lead ...
I kept my Galaxy S2 ( international one that almost everyone have fortunately. Not LTE but it is ok ) that i have for 8 months and when i returned to it I felt very comfortable and sell the GS3 at the same time.
I do not want to start a troll or something it is just a personnal opinion that I want to share with the community and I would like to know if other people feels scammed with the SGS3 or if I make a big mistake.
At first the phone is cool. But after a few weeks the magic really disapears ..
I have the same opinion too... I have a black i777 ATT and a white international... I prefer them to the S3. They have reasonable screen size and way better design. The S3 is too big for my taste and I cant stand the design that made for woman ( with a big hands of course). Even though the S3 comes with new features but the ATT S3 still uses dual core so its not really a big improvement.

The S3 is blazing fast though. Maybe my comparisons of CM9 versus stock SGS3 are unfair but my gf's SGS3 feels so fast. Just laucnhing the app launcher hers beats mine. You'd think a simple task like that shouldn't matter much. It's like playing Doom 2 on a Core i7 versus a Intel Pentium 4. The load times are like 1 seconds versus 0.9 seconds or something. But maybe it's because of TouchWiz.
I realize that the Sgs3 is uglier and stuff, but honestly get it. Things like BLN matter for me and unless they get BLNWW I don't think I'll be 100% satisfied with my phone. Plus the screen is gorgeous on the SGS3.
As for development, the Exynos SOC is well developed for. you can credit hte SGs2 for being the guinea pig because remember CM7? we had issues even AFTER CM7.1 release with market crashing left and right and outstanding issues. It was never fully working til post CM7.1. Heck I think we had issues into December/January.
But as a result of our struggles on the SGS2 and other devices like the Note, I think SGS3 benefitted greatly. Look at where we were in CM7 at this point last year. Meanwhile the SGS3 has ICS running beautifully. The progress in CM10 is about the same as that on the SGS2.
Yeah it's not the most beautiful device, and there's still probably more SGS2 than SGS3 users, but look at 6 months down the road, The SGS3 will shine more. Our SGS2s only have room to fall more and more behind as newer devices come out. I'm itching to buy but at the same time I'm telling myself just to wait for the next Nexus....
At first I think I will change my S2 to S3. But I think when I don't feel S2 fast or few during use than why sould I change? Maybe next year, and maybe Note 2
I feel no need for S3 too....why? Even I have JB on my S2

Ya seriously instead of wasting money on just to try it u could hav done that,,, I prefer S2 still because of two reasons, one is financial my salary is only half of the price of S3 second one is S3 s far too big too handle(Not tooooo much ) like I m rider I keep checking mails for professional purpose even some times stopping on side of roads if phone slips gone .. I started saving for s2 from one year I m happy with this Beast.. Also Sammy confirmed JB for s2.. Atleast can draw upto 1 1.5 years more
Don't get me wrong, I agree that in terms of specification, the S3 is superb device, in terms of speed, screen resolution etc. It offers a greater degree of future proofing than the S2 but would I spend money to upgrade at this stage? No, it's just not enough of a step up to make me consider it. And I have had a good play around with a couple of them.
I will wait for the S4 or possibly a future Nexus before moving by which time my S2 will be very well used. And I still think the S3 is just too feminine in design for my personal taste. Kind of like how the original VW Beetle morphed from a car that transcended class and gender barriers into the recreated one that doesn't.
That said, if I owned an S3, I would just stick it in a decent case and be as happy as Larry.
heres my rant, I've been thinking about this since it came out, I can't justify the upgrade, mostly for the 720p screen and dpi so I got a tablet for browsing
I don't mind the quad core as dual is more than enough power, one thing I was not sure about is the quality control on amoled screen and design, I wouldn't want to root it and risk warranty.
been looking at my local listing site and I see many s3 with broken screens from being dropped and knowing how many times I dropped my s2 I know the s3 design wont be any better
and last, the size and shape, other than it being feminine, it will be too big to use it with one hand, its not designed for most humans I find the s2 hard as it is reaching the other side with my thumb
Hmmm I have a question, is it worth fixing my cracked screen on the s2 and continue using it or should I trade it in for a S3? Hmmm... I might rather go for the Note 2...
Sgs3 or note2 are only for them, those hands are larger to fits in hands comfortably....plus you have to maintain them properly and you have big pockets to fit in.

I'll probably skip S3 and wait for S4.. it might be next year but at least it will be equipped with Exynos 5 Dual Chip.

You could sell it as is on eBay.You could get around £160 for it.A screen can cost around £100 but it could be tricky to replace.

I like my s2 very much :fingers-crossed: especially with aluminium bumper + 2000mah battery :good: and also siyah kernel + miui v4
I have a GS2 running CM9 stable.
While GS3 is blazing fast, for everyday activities GS2 is more than sufficient.
Also, GS2 being 800 x 480 resolution has a comparable or even better frame rates than GS3 running at 720P when running games.
So, I will stick with GS2 for another year and may be look at GS4 or if something more awesome comes in.
I was really hoping for the rumored 32GB LTE version to be announced at I/O but it seems that phone is a myth. So I'm now considering getting the current Nexus 4.
I'm curious to know if there are any ex-Galaxy Nexus owners in here and what their take on it is. Personally I love my phone for normal use. Running CM10.1 I'm able to do everything--aside from games--with smooth ease. Sadly, Subway Surfers and Iron Man are almost not worth playing on my phone and that's kind of a bummer. I'm also starting to see ghosting/burn-in in my screen, which isn't horrible but I think I'm over AMOLED. The real kicker is that my volume rocker has stopped working and it is the most inconvenient thing I've ever experienced on a modern smartphone.
So, should I upgrade?
I had the Galaxy Nexus and love the N5.
It's a worthwhile upgrade and at $349 the price can't be beat!
I say go for it! :good:

Another Galaxy Nexus --> Nexus 4 owner here.
I couldn't be happier. The phone is gorgeous, and just oozes smoothness over the GNex. :good:
Another one chiming in.... Nexus 4 trumps GNex for me in every way. Good price as others have mentioned, and you will love the solid feeling design of the N4 compared to the plastic on the GNex. Make sure to get a back glass and front screen protector.

The nexus 4 is a definite upgrade over the g nexus. But if you want removable battery and sd card get the S4 Google edition.

Now, I don't want to start a whole Nexus 4 vs. GS4 GE debate, but I do want to just point out that both phones have their pros and cons. GS4 GE has removable storage and battery, and does have better hardware. Nexus 4 costs about half as much and is still a top-of-the-line phone. Again, not trying to start a debate, but OP, if you're considering upgrading to either of these, I'd say go check the pros and cons. There's a thread you can go to made specifically for debating the N4 vs any other phone. If I find it, I'll edit this post and put it in.

I spent $600 on my Galaxy Nexus a month and a half before it went on the Play Store. I told myself I'd never spend that much on a phone (upfront) again. While I would love the S4GE, I just can't see myself dropping $650 + tax + shipping.
Thanks to everyone who replied! I'm pretty sure a Nexus 4 is in my future.

I did and am extremely happy with the decision. I had the GNex on VZW, and even got rid of my service so I could switch to the N4 on a GSM provider. Very glad I did. This phone is extremely smooth and the developer support is tremendous just like our old Gnex. Only downside compared to Gnex is lack of replaceable battery but I really havent run into an issue with this. I have an external battery backup just in case, but havent even run into a situation where I needed to use it. Plus as everyone else has noted the price simply cant be beat. There might be newer, more powerful phones on the market now (GS4, HTC1) but they would run you double to buy outright or you would have to lock in a service contract. In my opinion it just isnt worth the extra money for those, plus they lack the full nexus experience.
N4 has better screen, battery, design, quality.
And of course CPU and GPU is light years away.
After that is camera 2 gigs of ram that makes the super smooth.
So to conclude it is much better than GN.
Stop thinking about it. Buy N4 and sell the GN or keep as a spare.

I did the upgrade a few days ago and I can tell you that it's totally worth it! Even with the upcoming S4 Google version, I think N4 is still a better choice by design and functionality. (Yes, S4 is more powerful in terms of hardware but the button design has ruined everything IMO)

i came from the gnex and i think the nexus 4 is better in every way but the screen. i miss the super amoled screen on the gnex's. im just so use to amoled screens since my last 3 phones had them lol. the nexus 4 looks washed out to me. but thats just my opinion.
Yeah... I just switched from the galaxy nexus as well... couldn't be happier! Battery life has been just as good as stock battery gn and it's much faster... I don't think the s4 is worth nearly twice the price

I agree with you. When I first came off of the amoled my Nex4 did look washed out. Once I got used to the colors on the Nex4 I realized how much more true to life they are. Now when I look at amoled it looks like a over saturated replica of colors.
The N4 makes the GNex blow IMO.

I'm switching to T-Mobile in a few more days when my contract ends and was wondering on which phone to get. Would the Nexus 4 be a better choice then the Galaxy S4?

Depends on what you want. The downsides to the N4 are the camera, lack of expandable storage/removable battery and fragility of the glass back. Everything else on the N4 is a plus. The GS4 is better in most ways in terms of hardware but it feels awful in the hand and TouchWiz actually makes it lag despite having a Snapdragon 600. Personally, I'd choose the N4 since I don't feel there's anything on the GS4 that makes it worth hundreds of pounds/dollars more than the N4. It ultimately comes down to your own opinion though, nobody can decide for you.

It really depends on what your looking for. The Nexus is obviously easier to root and unlock the bootloader and such, but the S4 has better specs. i would get the HTC One

Galaxy s4 or HTC one. If you are going to root it and put a ROM from the Google play devices.

I've owned the gs4..just bought the n4 and to my surprise the n4 is faster and feels more fluent despite specs..it feels more premium..gs4 beats it everywhere else..
Granted the GS4 has better specs. My brother in law just got one on Verizon. Looks great, but the feel isn't as solid as the N4 IMO. Also no wireless charging is a negative for me at this point, because I bought a few of the wireless pads already lol.
N4 definitely feels more fluid and smooth. I feel like the n4 will "work" better than s4 in terms of development. But s4 beats it everywhere else. Speaking about n4 downfall.... I'm running out of space..Lol

Get the s4 till you get bored of it, sell it and buy n4

Girlfriends got a GS4.
I used to have a GS3.
Just recently moved to N4 after getting tired of turning all my Galaxy phones into nexii and i don't miss a thing about the S3. The only thing I can give to the S4 is the 13MP camera that its got on the back but other than that I'm Nexus all the way. Feels way more fluid plus Touchwiz is pure rubbish in my opinion. Even my girlfriend wants me to root her S4 after seeing my Nexus in action.
It's all about what's a dealbreaker for you. For me it was the screen, i got tired of the saturation on AMOLED screens where whites looked like blues and yellows compared to the N4.
Cheers

I would either get GS4 GE or Mi 2S
Id get the gs4.. It has expandable storage, removable battery, better camera, screen plus its made of polycarbonate which is an amazing material. Processors also faster and alot of the samsung software is excellent. I used to hate touchwiz but nowadays it is actually a feature and not a con imho.
The N4 is cheaper though and as others have stated, it feels nice in the hand, is better looking and has wireless charging. For me however, GS4>N4 and i would trade my N4 for one any day if i could cover the difference.
Youll be happy with whichever one you get

If money isn't an issue, get the s4. If it is an issue then I would get the nexus 4. regardless of the phone you choose, you will get an awesome android experience
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
If you're getting it on contract and don't care for price i would recommend the gs4 just cause its newer and has better hardware but still the n4 is smoother as I've used both. If it were me I would get the one over both though or the one Google edition

I am on S2. Found the N4 fm retailer at 360 euro and the S4 at 485 euro..
Should I go for the Nexus?
Appreciate insight..
p.s. my biggest concern is lack of expandable storage and nexus bugs as reported here in xda (S4 bugs too)
If I had the cash I'll definitely go for the S4, better in every aspect except updates. But looking at Sammy's update history, they are the fastest one second to Google.

N4 for sure. It just feels great in the hands. I hate all the bells and whistles that the G4 comes with and would end up making it pure vanilla anyways. Unless they were the exact same price i wouldn't consider the G4. A lot of my storage is in the cloud and I save game saves on dropbox. Therefore i just uninstall games when i get bored with them. I don't see a use to having 300 apps installed just because you can and all my music is with google music so its all streaming.

I second the "bells and whistles"! Same thing with my S2.. I ended up with custom rom (rootbox) - to avoid all the bloat - which is very close to stock android with some extra feats..
I believe I will take the plunge for Nexus 4 in the end.. A colleague of mine got it and is reaaaally fluid (he kept it stock-unrooted). And if you think abt it you may not even need rooting it at all..

Even just stock kernel and rom rooted. I personally cannot live without root call blocker, root explorer, datasync and adaway. I only went with an AOKP ROM because I'm a tweaker.

The N4 is awesome and youll be surprised how happy and comfortable it is on stock rooted or unrooted.
The next nexus should be out within 5 months so it really depends on how desperate you are for a new phone. The N4 is really nice but whats the N5. Who knows. with tech these days the next big thing is always around the corner, you can never catch it.
