[Q] 4.2 Lock Screen Widgets with Pin - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Am I overlooking something here? I can't seem to modify the lock screen if PIN is enabled? My exchange admin requires a PIN code so the lock screen only shows the clock and then the number pad. I can tap and hold the clock and remove it but it comes back, I don't see anywhere to add extra widgets to the lock screen?

Swipe the clock to the right and touch on that BIG plus sign.
Next enter your PIN and you can then add a widget

I've tried that, the clock background gets whit but just kind of tilts to the right a bit, does not move at all. It won't swipe to the right and there is no plus sign. I can hold down and it will shrink but that only leaves me the option to delete. Now opens ok,

kangy, same thing with my Nexus 7, didn't have any plus icon. I'm can remove widget, too. But after unlock/lock circle it appears again and I still have no plus icon.

At least I'm not crazy then I wonder if you disabled the pin, changed the lock screen and put the pin back it would stick. I had to jump back to 4.1.2 for logmein or I would try it out

You're not crazy, it happened to me as well. Frustrating since the only way to remove my pin is to remove my exchange account. Hopefully someone can provide some clarity here

That's strange. I have a pin on my admin lock screan but I can add widgets on it, and allso on the
second user.

This is not an issue with the pin per se it has to do with the Exchange policy. So far I have yet to find a way around it with my exchange administrator. I think it is up to Google to not enforce this daft policy.

I can now get access to the clock (click clock once, PIN PAD highlights, enter PIN, clock opens). But still can't change or add widgets. How's that done?

Definitely has something todo with an exchange account policy. Was experiencing the same problem, deleted my work exchange account, and the widgets reappeared.
Why on earth would any exchange policy alter the ability to see widgets (or take pictures from my galaxy nexus) without logging in first? Really annoying.

my guess is because you can make one of those widgets emails

I was wondering this as well. My work made me install the Google device policy app. One of the policies turns out to be 'disable lock screen widgets'.

How To Remove Lock Screen Widgets (Clock)

Hey guys I've got another question. Does anybody know how to remove the clock from the lock screen?
I've gone through Setting>My Device>Lock Screen and have everything turned off.
I've even downloaded an app called "Lockscreen Policy" which has an option to disable Widget and/or Camera, I've switched both of them off as well. I don't remember the app saying anything about needing root to work.
Really annoying that the stupid clock is covering my Lock Screen Wallpaper especially when the Notification Bar is on the Lockscreen and that has a clock on it anyway.
Thanks in advance.

If you swipe down from the clock it will expand the widget. You can then long press it and drag it to the trash can that appears at the top of the screen.
Be aware, though, that if you do not have any widget there you will just see a screen with a big "+" sign asking you to add a new widget and once the phone locks the clock widget will reappear. The only way to get it to go away permanently is to replace it with a different widget.
Hope this helps.

Yea i just tried it out and see what you mean. I just don't understand the point of it being mandatory to have something. That ****s raining on my customization parade. Thanks for the input.

You should disable the stock lockscreen all together and give WidgetLocker a try. It works really well on my wife's Note 2, and it's super customizable.

I try this and is says "unable to edit in security mode". I understand I may need to "unlock" the phone w/ the security code - but how do I get back to remove the lock screen clock if I do that? I am trying to get Dashclock Widget going, but this is blocking me.
Any thoughts?

Do you have a pattern or PIN lock set? I don't think the widgets work with those.

You are correct. PIN/Pattern doesn't work with other widgets. Thanks man.
Solved it
Hi, folks -- registered just to report that I have solved this problem. Download Minimalistic Text (free), though I'm sure you already have it. Enable Multiple Widgets on the phone, then add a blank Minimalistic Text widget. Delete your clock as described above and enjoy.
even easier: Blank Lockscreen Widget (Play Store)
galaxy s4 lockscreen
This has probably already been mentioned by now but for those still strugglimg with this. Drag down the screen from were the message and clock is. Click the pen looking icon to edit delete txt and uncheck clock if that is not required. Then press save in the top right and your lock screen will be clear :good:

Drag down the life companion message and click edit. Delete text and uncheck clock if also not required then press save. No app or root required just needs to be edited from the lock screen. May need to disable your lock security while you edit. Hope this helps
hide lock screen clock Android 4.3
Hey guys,
I recently got a Note 3 discovered that you cannot remove the lock screen clock. Simply doesn't allow you the option to.
But I found a way to hide it using the "personal message" feature.
Turn personal message on in the lock screen options menu.
Simply uncheck the clock and date boxes and space across a single character (as it won't allow you to have no text but will allow you a space which is invisible anyways..) and then hit save.
So then the next time you go to wake up your phone the lock screen clock will be gone!
I really don't like the way you are literally forced to have a lock screen clock!?!?
I often change my lock screen and desktop wallpapers and don't like the screen to be cluttered with text I don't want to see..
I have only tested this method on my Galaxy Note 3 so I am unsure if this will work on other Android phones..
Also what I have found strangely enough is normally there would be a half to one second lag for the display to sleep when I lock the phone.
This lag seems to have all but gone now that I specified a personal message (even though its blank) and hid the clock & date. Bonus!!
Hope this helps. Apologies if this has been previously covered..
Have fun!

Thanks so much for this now if I can just find away for it not to show that you have a text message on the lock screen things will be great.
FIxed.
Hay guys.
Sorry for the late reply. But I found a way to remove everything on lockscreen...
Date, time and also the unlock icon and rings.
But for now to remove clock simply allow lockscreen widgets then download zooper widget and replace your stock clock widget with an blank zooper widget.
Hope i helped.

[Q] How do I get Clock with Weather on S4 Lock Screen?

I am trying to get the clock and the weather widget to show up on my lock screen - my old NOTE2 had the option in Lockscreen settings to show weather on Lock screen but I cant find that option here.
I was able to add a weather widget to the lock screen - but when you first open the lock screen all you see is the clock - then, if I swipe down on the screen - it opens the weather ap - see my screen shots attached.
The first is what you see when you first get to the lock screen
the second is what you see when youi swipe down.
I am wanting to get the look of the second screen shot - when you first see the lock screen -
any suggestions?
S4 Weather
I couldn't find a way to do it either, so I downloaded this little app and it's kind of cool.

You can add several other notifications to it as well.
I use beautiful widgets on all my devices, lets me set weather, clock, battery, and all completely customizable. One of the few apps I ever paid for.

Can you set it up with pattern security? The images on the Play store shows that you can but I haven't been able to do so. Every time I set up the widget and set the pattern security, it reverts back to the standard default clock.
Well I did once, but it has now reverted to the regular lock screen. Looks like maybe a bug - The other notification extensions I picked are taking up the whole screen. When I first installed it moved everything small up next to the clock when I had the pattern visible on the lock screen. I'm not sure how to make the widget smaller as of yet. Other users have reported the same problem, so maybe there will be a future fix.

Dashclock and Note3

I installed dashclock on my note3, but don't see a way to activate it. The lock screen has only a single page. Maybe because I have a pin enabled?? Anyone have an idea of how to get working?
(Sprint version)
Go to Settings, Device, Lock screen and enable Multiple Widgets. Dashclock works great on mine!
no such option

I don't have that option on my lock screen settings. Sprint Note3. I have disabled some apps, maybe that did it.

I have Sprint N3 too. Settings>Device tab> Lockscreen (under personalization) > Multiple Widgets - ON
Wake up the device but don't unlock. Tap on the clock to enlarge it. Swipe to the Right to reveal a blank lock screen page with a big "+" on it. Tap that then scroll down to DashClock. Works great on mine.
Don't see that
When I tap lock screen the available items are:
- screen lock
- clock widget options
- personal message
- owner info
- lock automatically
- lock instantly
- action memo
There is nothing about multiple widgets. Also, I can't tap to increase the clock size on the lock screen.
I just removed my PIN security and I get multiple lock screen. Truned PIN security back on and no dashclock. That must be the issue.

Yeah, i just tried PIN security on mine and it removes those options. I guess displaying widgets with potentially sensitive info on the lockscreen isn't too secure so it unlocks directly to the home screen.

[Q] Why can some apps work around corporate pin lock and some can't?

For instance, I have BeyondPod installed for podcast playback and it has a fullscreen lock screen control set even though I have to use a pin lock for corporate email access. This is confusing to me because the biggest change going from my iPhone 5 to my new Note 3 is not having access to the camera, toggles, widgets, or notification from the lock screen when a pin in enabled.
I know this is not a bug or anything but I would love to be able to have widgets and toggles on my lock screen when the pin is enabled. I don't see why that's not possible if BeyondPod does it so well.

Lock screen widget?

Hey all.
Does anybody have any idea how you change/remove widgets from the lock screen?
I'm using knock knock code, I have the large clock in the top half but wanted to change it to a calendar.
I can't for the life of me work out how your do this!
Anybody got any idea?
Thanks.

Swipe the clock widget to the right, then swipe back to the clock/unlock screen. Then you will be able to long-press on the clock and remove it. Then you'll see 'tap to add widgets' and you can choose the calendar.
Yeah, Ive tried that, It just does this lol.
Try it without Knock Code (with swipe).
Yip, Tried that ... Same thing ..
Trying to work out what the arrow at the bottom is for, it dont see to do anything.
I never even used to have the knock knock cope option, I updated my phone via the support tool, I have the knock know code but cant change the lock screen widget. I mean even when im on the lock screen i used to be able to swipe right to start the camera and now i cant even do that.
I'm thinking something has been changed in the update, Can anybody on the same build as me confirm they can still swipe from the lock screen to start the camera app and change lock screen widgets? ... Its definitely different than before.
Try using swipe lock screen and lock your device. Then wake the device. Swipe down on the clock. Then press and hold the widget. You should then have the ability to remove it. If you have no other lock screen widget, you will end up with a huge + giving you the option to add another widget. If this doesn't work (it should), reboot and try again.

It wont budge, Before if i had a pin code at the lock screen set i could just swipe the pin code area down, It then ask me for my pin, I could then long press the clock and a option to "remove" would be at the top of my screen, When the widget area was blank i would see a large + sigh, I could tap this and be given a number of widgets i could put there!
The clock just wont budge now no matter what i try!
Same Deal Here
Ever since the update, it seems I can't remove the default clock widget either. Swiping down does bring up the arrow (just as it used to) but it won't stay on long enough to long press the clock (as soon as you take your finger off it goes back to normal). I'm going to do some experimenting with WidgetLocker, see if I can't get it back to where I want it (obviously figuring this out would be ideal, but I'm starting to wonder if it's possible anymore. I've seen articles about enabling widgets, but haven't found what they're telling me to look for).
Edit: Got it figured out. It turns out I had somehow turned off the lockscreen widgets & disabled the feature through Secure Settings.

Don't know if you've been back to this thread but changing Secure Settings settings worked for me.
