I am also having the same issue after updating to 4.2 yesterday!
Same app updates installed no problem on my Galaxy S3, so it's not an issue with the Play Store in general!

Same issue. 4.2 stock rooted. Although i'm 99% sure i noticed this issue occured right before i updated also. Not sure how to resolve...i went into recovery and cleared cache/dalvik and fix permissions, no help.

Yes that was the same for me, right before it offered the update to 4.2? Odd?!?

Still not working for me

Okay so my solution was: in settings add a new google account - i used an alternative one i have. then remove the original account and reboot. when back up add the original account again and remove the one added before the reboot. Play Store now works

Fake mail app update on Market (I mean Google Play)

Today I found an update .. it's in Russian (I'm not) and it seems to be update to email app. It can be downloaded and installed, based on comments (I did not do it). Looks like malware .. any ideas how is that possible ?
It says MTC mobile mail (but in russian) by OJSC Mobile Telesystems.
Got the same thing too on my play market, I felt that there is something fishy with it, so I didn't update till I figure out what exactly it do.

Forgot to mention that I'm on stock rom, didn't root or install any custom roms, yet.
I'd advise everyone not to update and report the app to Google so they remove it from the app store.

got that update today. I haven't updated it because I never installed the app in the first place.. Weird!

I've seen that. I have also "testfile" app installed on my SGS2. I did not install that. Cannot uninstall, only "open" option available. Any ideas what that is?

Build number

Hi guys,
So i was one of the people that got screwed by google on launch day. I had already sold my galaxy nexus and need a phone for work etc.
I went into my local o2 store and tried an orange sim card in one of their phones and it works.
On the box it says o2 UK on the label.
Can someone that got a device from google play store post their about phone so i can compare the details.
I presume this is unlocked with it letting me put an orange sim in it with no problems but just wanna check for all the future updates to make sure i dont get screwed in some way.
As soon as i turned the device on i got the system update that gives the fugly clock and 2 finger pull down on the notification.
Cheers.

Seeing this too. A little wary on whether or not I want to install it.

Even so, I can't say I'm happy about Facebook forcing me to update with what ever permissions it chooses.
I can see me uninstalling it very soon...
My coworker had the same thing, only her download froze. Couldn't tell what was going on, so we killed about every app on the phone trying to get it to stop (plus rebooting, uninstalling FB, etc). Finally figured out it was actually doing it thru Downloads, not the Play Store.
That's the straw that broke the FB camel's back for me... uninstalled the app and went back to using the mobile website. I like it better anyways.

Did you change your dpi or put it into actual tablet mode? If so, you need either the modified play store apk or to change your dpi back to stock.

That app are compatible with my nexus 7, like the above comment said check your ppi setting.
Since the latest version of play store changes how it detect device model.

You have cleared google service framework to get the 4.3 update?
go into your installed apps and wipe the data from the google account manager, google services framework and the playstore. also remove your account from the phone, reboot and sign back in see if that works.
Same here

Just went through this on my Nexus 7 too...none of the wipes/reboots worked for me (Services Framework/Play App), I had to delete my Google account on the tablet and re-establish it to finally fix it. Save yourself some time and simply delete your Google account from the device, then re-add it.
Same happened to me and Doing this fixed it for me.

All you have to do is remove you gmail account and add it back in, you shouldn't have to mess with anything else. That is all I had to do.
Thanks very much, that did it. I've never had that issue before.
