Correct me if I'm wrong
But to be able to wirelessly charge is down to the hardware. I don't think the N10 has the hardware installed to achieve this.

Hey everyone!
My Nexus 7 will be here Wednesday (YAY!)
And I just read that the USB port isn't MHL
Without buying the Nexus Q (All I have in the country is my 4g tether) how can I use an external monitor on my new tablet?
I noticed that there are 4 pogo pins on the nexus 7 vs the 3 on the galaxy nexus. Is there video out on these? Also my M18x has something called WI-HD that allows me to wirelessly transmit my monitor signal to a reciever connected to my tv. Is there any way my new tab can do something similar? I suppose I can just use my galaxy nexus for my Play TV shows but I was kind of looking forward to playing games on the big screen.
Thanks!
Bump. any suggestions guys?
There is no cable solution... chances are there will be a software WiFi Direct solution, but not yet.
Thanks for the info.

I am thinking of buying the ZaggSparq 6000 because it is 50% off for cyber monday. But I wanted to check if it would work for the Nexus 4. They said it wouldn't work with the Nexus 7 Tablet so I was worried it would be the same
http://www.zagg.com/accessories/zaggsparq.php?default=6000
Why wouldn't it work for the Nexus 4? If it's able to charge other smartphones, I don't see why it wouldn't be able to charge the Nexus 4. It should work perfectly fine.

I'm confused by why this won't work with the nexus 7. Anyone got a clue?

I assumed it would be because the charger couldn't supply enough current. I've seen some portable chargers that only output 1-1.5A but the ZAGGsparq has an output of 2.1A. The official N7 adapter has an output of 2A. So I'm stumped.

Well I bought it anyhow just to see how it would turn out for my Nexus 4. Hopefully this doesn't suck like their screen protectors hahaha.. Getting the ZAGGsparq this wednesday. It was nice getting two day free shipping because they offered Amazon as a payment method.
I'm getting this for my Galaxy s3 so I can watch videos on my tv but will this work for the nexus 7 as well or do i need something different?

MHL is hardware, not software, so it isn't possible. There has been talk of miracast, which is a wifi display device standard, but it sounds like that needs further research and developent to see if it works on the nexus 7, whether it be a hardware or software problem.
Wich cable do i need to use my nexus 4 on Hdmi screen??
Can someone recommend a cable on ebay??
Thanks
I believe its called an MHL adapter, although i could be mistaken. Maybe someone else can chime in?

This works as well.

Unfortunately from what I have read, the N4 isn't compatible with MHL which really sucks because I have the stuff left over from my HTC Sensation.
The Nexus 4 utilizes Slimport which is based on the DisplayPort technology

Link to adapter on Amazon, works well with Stock and Paranoid from what I remember reading, not sure why others haven't merged it. I use it on CM10.1 despite not cloning the display properly, hopefully it will be fixed in one of the nightlies at some point.

I ordered today the slim port. Will be here tomorrow and I'll let you know how it works.

I need to find a way to get my nexus 7 to charge with QI wireless station and allow the OTG cable to work. I'm aware of the custom mods out there but I really want my nexus OS fully functional and untouched minus this one aspect. Is this possible via a rooted app or light mod to the existing OS?
You really have 2 options.
1. Remove the back cover of your N7, and follow the instructions somewhere here in the general section to add the Qi reciever.
2. Use a custom kernel to enable host mode charging, and purchase a "Y" cable from ebay or amazon.

As for 1, is this an upgrade to the current QI receiver in it? I have the 2013 model. My QI charge works great until I plug in the OTG cable and then the OS turns off charging.

That make a big difference. This is the forum for the 2012 Nexus 7. You need to be in the Nexus 7 2013 forum. If you post in the correct forum, you are way more likely to get your issue resolved. Hope you get it all fixed up.

thx, but I only see a Nexus 7 forums I dont see a path for 2013 and 2012?
On the mobile app, it is list as Nexus 7 (2013)

not on the desktop version.
Nexus 7 > Nexus 7 General > need a mod to charge with my QI and OTG >
all forums under that are not listed as 2013 or 2012 also

Here ya go. Both devices are not under the Nexus 7 section. They are completely separate from eachother, as their own devices.
