Trying to update to 4.2 using ADB, but keep getting stuck at this error message
Opening update package...

assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/GooglePinyinIME.apk
I did freeze GooglepinyinIME along with the Korean keyboard ages ago using titanium backup, but unfroze and restored them before I updated to 4.1.2 ota, so I cannot understand why it's hanging this time?
Any ideas how I can get around this without losing everything?
Am a noob with ADB, so any help would be much appreciated.
Am stock Rom, rooted, and no CWM.
Many thanks.

But why?
Why do we have to have GooglePinyinIME.apk? I don't, nor do I intend to learn, Chinese. As far as I am conserned the apk is just BLOTware. Why does Google need to have it on the Nexus 7 to allow upgrades?

I am on JVH.
Used SGS tools to upgarde my camera.apk to the hacked version. That did not work and I got the message "busybos not installed". Now camera does not work and I am at a lost of what to do. Any suggestions on how to get the original apk and reinstall it?
Thanks alot!
Kinda solved it by installing this app instead: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mnapps.cameraadvance&feature=order_history

Best thing you can do is to reflash that firmware again, I have had to do that too.
I thought it'd be a good idea to flash the camera from the Galaxy SII but that didn't work out so i found the original apk, that didn't work either.
So back to flashing the JVH rom again!
Well, suddenly it worked again after copying over original apk and odex.

Which exactly file you copied to the /system/app folder? Can you put here a link do this file with original camera for JVH?

This is not the one. I'm talking about the Nexus One's default wallpaper, which will be available in LG P500's stock froyo ROM also. I think it will be available in the first set of apks you provided. But I'm facing the issue of installing.
Anyway thanks for your help mate. I'll try to install those apks somehow.

And what about Microbes live wallpaper from Nexus? It has been ported to SGS, so is it possible to have this in OO?

Hi everyone, I'm making this so that any problems with ROMS can be discussed here, and any associated fixes. This way we don't clutter the actual ROM threads and all the problems/fixes are in one place. :good:
I'll start it off.
I just ported over a 4.1.2 ROM but the soft keyboard FC's literally every 5 seconds. Any ideas? I tried pulling a logcat from the computer and it says "Unable to open log device '/dev/log/main': No such file or directory
Attached is a screenshot.
I'm gonna try to install a different keyboard from the playstore and see if that one works.

I had that same problem on one of my first ICS ports, just sub it out for any of the working ones on the Shift. Don't forget to switch out the lib too.
I would say the same thing as ryan, as far as the keyboard is concerned.
And as far as the logcat problem, the only time i have ever had that error was when it was a bad flash. Googling the error gives you a bunch of different reasons this error could happen. I doubt it is a kernel problem, as some sites suggests, because I'm guessing you are using one of the kernels we already have and none of the other roms have the same problem. So I would look into one of the other suggestions that pop up when googling.
Yeah, I'll look into it when I get home today. And i know it cant be a bad flash because i wiped 10 times before flashing it.
Sent from my PG06100
Well i think I found the error. I found a post on stackoverflow that led me to the etc/init.d folder...and in one of the files there I found this
Code:
rm /dev/log/main
Now why that was in there, i have no idea. Hopefully that fixes that part and then I'll just swap out the soft keyboard and Latin_ime.so to fix the AOSP keyboard and all should be good....so if all goes well, expect a new port in the dev section :good:

Really easy, replace the apk with one that you know works... For this example we'll use the 4.2 keyboard from my ROM. Delete both the apk and the libjniLatin_IME.so from system/lib. Replace with the working apk and the corresponding lib (libjniLatin_IMEgoogle.so or something close to that) and rezip. If that doesn't work see if you can get a flashable like the Xperia T keyboard to work after boot. If that doesn't work, there is probably a major problem.

Did the logcat tell you anything about the error? Most times it will mention the lib missing. Even if you see it there it may be the wrong version, and you would need to grab it from the port.

If you are you need to
1. Open the ROM with 7zip or winrar and move the boot.img to where fastboot is located and then run this command from fastboot

If your not check the md5 sum with the one provided on dev-host. And redownload/transfer if needed

My girlfriend took the OTA and her basic visual voicemail works. I noticed the version on her app is 3.0.4.
My note in the other hand, I'm rooted and on the 4.4.2 leak. My Verizon voicemail app version is 2.4.0 and the app won't work at all. Do I just need to just download the 3.0.4 apk ? Anyone else having this issue.

EDIT:
Solved the issue, download com.samsung.vvm-1.apk attached to this post
This version is 3.0.4 extracted from 4.4.2 (NC4) on my girlfriends note, this will work with the leaked version of 4.4.2 (NC2), just download and install like any normal APK, no need to move around /system/apps or anything
Well I figured it out, I just took the apk from her phone since I couldn't find it anywhere on the interwebs.
All I did was it install it and now it works great. I thought I'd share the 3.0.4 apk with you guys, this should be the correct version, I pulled it from /system/apps folder. If it's not I'll reupload it when I get home
