[Q] lg optimus G or nexus 4 ? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im looking the get the optimus g or nexus 4 and my question is they are the exact same hard ware so if I get a lg optimus g is it possible to get a port rom from the nexus4 or like cm10 if they make 1 in order to get jellybean ?

This will most definitely be what happens...hardware its mostly a match outside of wireless charging.
My Optimus G is rooted and waiting for clockwork mod to work beyond being tethered to a pc. It will likely not have as many roms, but it will have them.

Hardware is not exactly the same, but they're quite similar

Using MultiROM with Nexus 4?

I've converted my Optimus G into a Nexus 4 and am wondering if anyone has tried to use MultiROM with their handset. Apparently it functions for the Nexus 7 with what limited knowledge I have in reading up on it. The reason I ask is because I'd ultimately like to run stock Android on some form along with Ubuntu Phone which has released is developer version to our phone recently, and this can be accomplished on the Nexus 7.
Should I even bother asking at this point I don't know, but figured its worth a shot as I love flashing roms whenever is convenient. I don't believe that Boot Manager in the play store is yet supported for the Nexus 4 at this point and if it were I doubt it would allow for ubuntu phone.

I don't have an answer for you, but how is your phone running since the conversion?

Because Optimus G is G+4, but Nexus 4 is just 4
It has ran just fine until the last month or so. Using an early cm 10.1 room with capacitive buttons and 8gb sd recognition. Lately my phone will randomly power off for no apparent reason so I will look to refresh my handset soon.
The Optimus G is considered a more reliable phone over the Nexus 4 from what I've read. It also allows for storage beyond 16gb since the att version includes that on board and allows external storage also. There is a HD ask to allow for 16gb internal recognized which I have not yet performed. No issues with my phone but rare overheating which I remedy by turning off my phone for it to cool down for a few mins at best.

[Q] Nexus 4 + Optimus G Kernel = MIUI?

As I miss the good old MIUI
And MIUI 4 doesn't work on 4.2
And MIUI 5 seems to take forever
And MIUI can quite easily be ported to 4.1
And Optimus G is 4.1
And Nexus 4 can flash Optimus G Kernel
I just wanted to ask if somebody with more time than me wants to try and port MIUI 4 to the Nexus. :good:
Miui 4 is in fact terribly optimized on my older nexus s, I'm not too sure about the galaxy nexus as I never flashed it, but I would assume the same. It's never a good idea to have a hacked phone, running on ported software, as problems will be much harder to debug, as they could be from either the port or/and the hacked kernel

Nexus 5 OS on the Verizon G2

Basically, I'm wondering if we are going to be able to take the stock ROM on the Nexus 5, and bring it straight to the Verizon G2? Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, all we really need is a pure AOSP ROM right? But will that allow us to still have all the features specific to the G2?

[Q] Nexus 4 now?

So basically i bought a tablet with 4g thinking i would be able to carry around and use as a phone but i was totally wrong. Am in the market looking for a new smartphone. My main concerns are battery life, web browsing like youtube mostly and nfc. I like the nexus 4 and moto g, there are various versions of nexus 4 though like samsung and then lg google. I am confused as to get moto g or nexus 4. Moto g has no Nfc though :/ So which one should i get? any other options?

Get a nexus

There is only one version of nexus 4 made by lg. The previous nexus is made by Samsung called galaxy nexus and the one before that called the nexus s. Nexus 4 is a really good phone but you could probably have an easier time getting the moto g brand new for $200 us

The Nexus 4 will be faster than the Moto G... but mostly depends how you're using it. Battery life is decent, always lasts me the day.

The image no, we could see Marshmallow working but it would be from aosp. Modified system images from the nexus 5 never got very far (someone tried this for the android L previews back in the day, they got it booting after a ton of issues but it was never actually released or really usable.)
Isn't the nexus 5 almost the exact same specs as lg g2? Besides barometer and partition layout?
