[compilation][Arc/Neo/Pro] The state of HDMI for CM ROMs - Xperia Arc General

Because we need a new kernel and there were no relevant source to be found, it will probably be inpossible or too time consuming to fix this. If you want to continue this, feel free to contact a moderator to assign yourself the first post and reopen the thread.

About this thread
HDMI has never worked on CM9 and CM10. In this thread, I'm asking everyone to gather information, and contribute code, ideas and time for testing. It won't be working within a few weeks, but hopefully we can get it working sometime before all the Arc's and Neo's are gathering dust in our drawers.
In this first post, I'll try to add all relevant information people helped me to find.
This is not a one man project, collaboration is needed for this to succeed.
zdzihu said:
Here's the UNOFFICIAL package that adds HDMI support. Due to lack of SEMC overlay in CM9 build, it will only allow to stream audio (no video). Hopefully that can be fixed by adding overlay support by FXP team. This package is 100% safe as it doesn't modify any CM9 system files/libs.
Download 1 - safe: CM9_Arc_HDMI_lite-safe.zip
Also, here's a proof-of-concept package that FULLY enables HDMI support (audio+video) by adding SEMC overlay libs. This package is DANGEROUS, it WILL BREAK your gfx subsystem causing slight graphical glitches (like in ICS leaked rom). If you're going to test it, MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR ROM.
Download 2 - dangerous: CM9_Arc_HDMI_full-dangerous.zip WARNING: IT WILL PARTIALLY BREAK YOUR ROM! DEV/TEST ONLY!
Cheers,
z

Work so far for Xperia Neo and Pro
Since the Pro's inner hardware is identical to the Neo's, the same packages should work. You should be careful flashing test packages anyway
For those wondering if there's some progress:
cmgonzalez has found opensource HDMI libs, and is trying to compile a kernel with those libs. If those libs work, it will be a relatively easy job.

You can do it for ARC S full CM10

First of all you need to eable it coz it dicable in kernel

I'm terribly sorry, I forgot the Pro also has a HDMI port. Since the Pro is more related to the Neo, I'll add it there.
I will commence testing this weekend btw

I'm keeping this project on a hold.

And what about the CM10, HDMI will do something or not?:crying:

That's on CM10, don't use CM9.

I have used this CM10_Arc_HDMI_lite-safe.zip and not working on CM10 FXP 146.

Yes, no output for me too.

F**K Sony...CM9 - CM10 works greats, but HDMI is a must.

I was playing a little with it, and the hdmid daemon don't get running so the semchdmicontrolservice (the apk) can't connect to it...
You will get a lot of socket errors on localhost port 25000, if someone can make the daemon run maybe...

I got an Xperia P. CM9 is already working. Can I support you by testing?

I don´t see how, but I can take a look at which files FXP used for the P.

[I9000] CNA 1.4.0 UNOFFICIAL nightly build [2/03][dead]

6/03 : Official topic has been opened
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23319217
Get your latest CNA fix there.
This topic is now officially (get it?) dead.
Since no official topic for CNA 1.4.0 has opened, I want to share their latest build.
It has the fixed RIL issues many are looking for.
I do not claim any involvement in the development of the ROM, I'm just a guy who setup a build environment, downloaded the source code and compiled.
As such : treat it as a NIGHTLY, this is NOT an official release so expect no support from me or the devs.
It's just a basic compile so be sure to know EXACTLY what you're doing before flashing.
Code:
ro.build.date=Tue Feb 21 18:26:48 CET 2012
ro.modversion=Codename-Android-(MOD)-1.4.0-GalaxyS
I can recommend flashing another kernel as the original had a tendency to bootloop in the past. But you don't need to listen to me of course.
21/2: http://www.mediafire.com/?rbbh36drchehigt
Edit: Apparently it also has the external SD card fix
26/2: I noticed several changes in their code: mostly kernel, bin, xbin. I compiled again. I'm running the default kernel for now.
http://www.mediafire.com/?81ciaepocyo6wp6
27/2: I've flashed another kernel as the included one caused a dialer wakelock, draining the battery, as well as two reboots.
2/03 : Uploaded another compile
http://www.mediafire.com/?lp54q6x6lkhzf3u
This could be the last one if I read the grapevine correctly.

This has nothing to do with the Asnet release right? It was stopped because it contained a pay-app.
I want to try this one, but only if I harm nobody's income.

Same procedure as usual?
Which kernel is included here?
1) wipe cache & data/factory reset
2) flash zip
3) reboot phone and wipe again?
Im coming from GB 2.3.3.. cheers

As far as I know, the kernel is the standard CM9 one.
But you may want to try another ICS rom from in the development section first...

I upgraded from Dax' release to this one without wipe and everything works fine.
RIL and external SD card issues have been solved.
The only thing that didn't work (didn't show up in the app list) was the Galaxy S Settings (AriesParts.apk), so I copied the one from Dax to /system/app and then it worked.

Was wondering if you could use this commit to compile a deep idle top-OFF modded framework-Res.

Unlike the other ICS ports this one seems to work glitch free. I was using this one on the previous 1.4 build with amazing success but it isn't compatible with this rom... Not 100% sure that commit is in this modded framework sorry.

I think we all know (the one's who tried) how terribly hard it is to compile AOSP for devices that are not supported at all, and never will be. taking this in thought I decided to make this shell script that automates the a very lame method of acquiring the AOSP apps which can be places together with the CM framework/libs. It's actually profiting on the remains of the cyanogenmod compiling, but the output will be a much lighter and faster then CM in the first place. I have an AOSP rom that uses this method, and the performance is very good!
The script is not intended to compile a whole rom, it's only made for compiling the apps. and It will never compile more then the apps. (later additions may be SystemUI and android.policy.jar, but that's all.

No, it allows you to compile the full aosp apps for cyanogenmod, so if your device only supports cm, you can use this script to "downgrade" it to AOSP, and then make it your custom rom for example.

WattOS? the script is made for downgrading your cm10 build to aosp 4.1.2, nothing else
So this script make CM10 become AOSP ? If yes I want to try it and make my CM10 become AOSP

Yes that's basically the idea behind it, the reason I made it is because CM is always available on many devices, but aosp really is only 100% compatible with like 5 devices in total XD (nexus series and xperia z I guess). This script will only compile the APPS from AOSP instead of the APPS from CM10, but it really makes a difference, it feels much lighter in use.
So it's not a real CM10 to AOSP conversion but it's the closest I could get at that point.
(Slimbean actually comes way closer to the real aosp, im experimenting with it right now)
Wow good job mate !!
But , will the setting like aosp ? No device setting , launcher , lockscreen etc. ?

R: [Script/Tool]AOSP Easy Compile Beta
Could it work with CM 10.1? I'm tempted to try a AOSP port for our i9001... If not, i guess i'll wait for the Barebone 4.2...

[Q] [REQ] Sony Small Apps for our awesome Nexus 4

Hi all, I don't really mean to start a new thread but I think this stuff is possible for our device.
I read an article in the XDA home page and it says that the SmallApps have been ported to CM9, CM10 and PA 2.55 for certain Xperia devices with an addition of an app called SLauncher. But some reported that it also works on CM9 on a Samsung galaxy S2.
Here's the article:-
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...anoid-android-2-55-receive-xperia-small-apps/
Since there are plenty of awesome developers for our devices, I think this kind of stuff is possible. I'm just saying with my noob-minded logic as I don't have any ideas in porting and modding. I'm really looking forward to using this kind of apps
I like the calc

I'm downloading the kernel, now i test on my rom (only the kernel with my ramdisk) and i'll tell you if and how work......
EDIT:
I tried with my ROM and always have the problem of wifi (wi-fi hotspot), because it certainly has added the new wifi driver into the kernel and not the old bhd.ko
The kernel works fine, so the rom is smoother and faster.
The function works well KSM and implements all the governor and scheduler.
I keep it for the time being in order to test it thoroughly and see if you suffer from stress or reboot, it'll keep you informed.
Pika great job, congratulations!
Even if it does not work in my rom is great .... of course has been designed for 4.2.2 .....
4.2.2
Comfirming that is working with Shendu 4.2.2
Virtual Ten Studio has adb over logcat use that. Its quite ok.

This firmware uses the structure everyone loved in KitKat; I will not force anyone to deal with the .dat nonsense that we've all come to know and hate.
The codebase aligns very closely to what Xiaomi uses, and this code-base also aligns with many other vendor firmware.
Thx to: Datagutt, Heheda; co-maintainers :<
Thx to: Firmware developers, the source builders for this device

It's pure AOSP, and yes it's good to work on any device that idents as Cancro
It is designed specifically for use with porting firmware, recovery has been modded in source to allow for this more easily as well.
It is easy to build either CAF or deCAF firmware in this build engine, I designed it to be very easy like CyanogenMod and it does accept CM configs.
HOWEVER IT IS AOSP AND NOT SLIMROM OR CYANOGEN I can't stress this enough, It is AOSP
Will work for mi4.?

My work is better
Edit: At least with source-build; his AOSP is not useful for porting ROM where mine actually is.
Android M will be the same in that case; when I decide to build it
Ir blaster an FM work in this rom?
camera quality, HDR?
hdr bug is still present, hdr mode click complete dark pictures, normal mode quality is fine. Can u manage to focus on camera quality .otherwise rom is good ,still haven't tested full

Yes, my build engine is really huge and has multiple GCC forks depending on the firmware used :<
Neat clean stock ROM. Though meant to for porting and etc stuff. But as a user I like it, it's smoooth.
Everything is great except some minor stuff eg: long Wi-Fi turning on time, WCDMA Only mode reset after reboot, CPU frequency control not working proper with stock kernel.
These are minor stuff and I'm not complaining neither asking you to do anything about it.
PS if anybody has a solution for 3G Only reset would be glad.
Hope I can see a 6.0 ROM by you soon
Also, there's a lag between screen and capacitive keys becoming inactive.. say if I turn off screen and the very next second I touch capacitive keys the screen wakes up.
