There's some info on Endgadget and the specs don't look too shabby, is anyone considering this machine?

This does seem like a fully loaded device but I think compared to the portability of the Tab 10.1, it will soon become annoying. I think I'm going to stick with the Tab 10.1 and purchase the adapters for USB/HDMI. I'd only need to carry them on 5% of my journeys anyway.
Yes, I'm interested. 1.6 lbs is like the Ipad 1 tablet and the reviewer states that its really not that bad. Ports are important, and the user removable battery is a real plus. Thickness is a bummer, but over all, the tablet looks like a real contender
this WAS the 1 i really wanted but when i saw it had more bulk than my xoom i've decide to go with the 10.1, but i would take this over the xoom.
The location of the cameras is ODD. Seems like it would be difficult to hold and not obscure the cameras.
I like that you can change the battery but me personally I don't need all those ports. If I have to have all that I may as well get a laptop or netbook. Also I'm not keen on that chrome around the camera. It's petty but I also like looks when it comes to my devices
It just moved up to number one on my list just waiting to see what HTC comes out with with in a 10.1 tablet

1. I hate that silver / chrome plate around the camera. It is too distracting, look cheap and ugly. I cannot stand it, period.
2. It is too bulky and heavy. I don't need all those ports, especially because I will use it rarely.
3. I don't need replaceable battery. From my experience, even after a year or two, the lithium battery is still good. And by that time, I have upgraded to a new device anyway. I know, it is a plus to have replaceable battery, but if it adds to the weight and bulkiness (because of the mechanic or whatnot), then I don't want it!
GTab 10.1 is still my number one choice ... IF I can buy one
I like what I've seen. I was following this for a few months, but scratched it off due to the Tab 10.1. Now I've written off the tab 10.1 I think, because it just leaks cheap. I'll reserve my final judgement until I see some reviews.
I'm sorta curious what the odds of being able to install Windows 8 on it might be. It appears to be the same exact design as one of Toshiba's upcoming Windows 8 tablets they showed at Computex, just with a different processor. I'm not excited about Tegra 2... but..... if it's really that bad, that is why they have return policies. A Dual boot Android / Windows 8 tablet might be a serious case of Winning!
Oh, I also am looking forward to see what HTC is bringing to the table as well. I don't want to count them out.
I am the one considering the Toshiba Thrive as well.
Yeah the Thrive is thick and heavy with the chrome camera and rubber back that sound odd, but the fact that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has no SD card and USB slot turns me off, it seems like Samsung is going to rip us off with accessories that I have seen in the youtube video shown in another thread, so Samsung learned styling and ways of money making from Apple huh?
Full size USB, HDMI and SD card port, plus attractive pricing and the Toshiba brand outweight the clumsy look. Hope XDA will have the Thrive forums soon.

Definitely worth reserving your final judgement because the reviews that I have read all pretty much say how premium the quality of the 10.1 is compared to what they expected before they saw it in person. I didn't bookmark all the reviews I read so can't seem to find them all but Engadget wrote:

No XDA forum - No buy!
It's very simple, I like the device and want to get one. But with no XDA forum (yet), I'll have to wait. I do like to try out custom rom's, etc., as well as the practical uses. Right now I have an LG G-Slate, and with no XDA forum I can't do anything (other than rooting). So, if one is interested in simply "using" a device, then the Thrive looks excellent except for its bulk. For those of us who want to do more - we'll need an XDA forum.
Looks like a cool tablet. Had it come out a month earlier, I might have bought it.
These guys releasing Honeycomb tablets in July, August, and September just feel like they are a bit late to the game.

That makes total sense. So I take it you only buy your devices briefly after a new OS is introduced? How old is your Windows/Apple desktop/laptop?

With laptops/desktops, I can update the OS whenever I wish. I'm not dependent on the hardware manufacture to make a custom OS for my computer. So tablets are very different from a laptop or desktop. Though I do know people that do hold off laptop/desktop purchases if a new OS release is near, to avoid having to buy an upgraded OS later.
I love Android, but 3.0 and 3.1 have not been that good. It was a rush job and the source code was never even released. And hardware manufactures already proven they are very slow with major OS release updates. With the hope that Android 4.0 will unify the phone/tablet OS and includes major improvements to stability, compatibility, and fragmentation...
Personally I think there probably is a line in the sand somewhere where a person should ask themselves, do I really want to get into an Android 3.x tablet now with 4.0 coming soon?
I'm not sure I made a good decision getting my GT 10.1 back on June 17th (really nice hardware though). It is really going to suck if I'm still rocking Android 3.crap in 2012. Really hope that doesn't happen, but I have no idea.

I totally agree.
By looking at the photos, it seems as though the rear camera does not include a flash.
I went with the GT 10.1. LOL I got tired of waiting and I didn't like that the Toshiba doesn't have Gorilla Glass, is a lil' heavy and apparently just uses a regular LCD screen with some sort of software to make it crisper and brighter.... The GT has such a nice screen, I couldn't resist. It also feels so light in hand.
Still, different strokes for different folks. I'm sure the Toshiba has nice things about it too... like the ports. Still... I like weight of the GT sooooooo much.
I was seriously considering waiting for the thrive since its almost 100 bucks apart, you could get a 8g, plug in a 16g SD and in the end beat the 10.1 in memory.
But then I thought real hard about what I needed a tablet for. I have a NB at home and at workplace, and if I needed to do stuff that needed serious computing, I would choose the NB over any tablet even if it was quad-core.
The reason I need (or, want) a tablet is for portability, acccessibility to games, video, web surfing and data/email checking. I dont see how often I will cry over that lack of ports, if ever at all. and ports and price are probably the only things that toshiba has an edge over the 10.1. Once I decided that I really dont need the ports (especially you can get the usb dongle for $20 for the rare occasions that you need the port), it was a no brainer decision.
I would think that the Thrive buyers would have to use usb host a lot in order to feel better about the decision over 10.1. Otherwise, everytime you browse the web, watch videos, read papers, or play games on 10.1, it's just hard to think that there's a alternative attractive choice.

If I just wanted to have a usb port or SD slot just once in a great while, than the Thrive is a winner. The comments that the thrive is clunky and heavy is way off base. The Thrive is 1.6 pounds. My Acer was 1.7 pounds, and it felt a lot heavier than my Tab 10.1
I can now surf the web with one hand, unlike the Acer. The Thrive will definitely feel heavier than the Tab 10.1

Hi all,
I'm about to sell my 7.7 its a great device but the OS sluggyness (more than a second to unluck is not right) is getting on my nerves.
Its clear this isnt going to get any form of regular updates so to stave my losses on it I'm going to sell this now and ideally do so before the Google Tablet arrives.
Is a great machine but with the lack of dev community its a no go for any early adopters liking to play.
Real shame samsung.

Just remove the lock option if its peeing you off,
i don't have it set on mine so its instant off,
also use another launcher or if you like the stock launch then just have it set with the single home screen,
i currently use the TW launcher with 1 home screen and 2 widgets no problems,
have come close to buying another tablet but there isn't one that feels as good a the 7.7...
I still cannot believe that the nexus tablet is going to be sold as cheap as it is rumored to be atm.
Anyways, let's say it really is: Then it would actually be a good idea to get rid of the unsupported tab 7.7 in time, as you could easily buy two nexus tabs for the money the 7.7 is valued right now.
I think there has to be a hook somewhere.

I guess I see it as a quirky exotic car. Not as reliable as a cheaper econobox, but 7.7 has my favorite combination of build quality, super thin form factor - yet great battery life, and awesome screen. To me there isn't enough improvement over the 7.7 with the Nexus Tablet that makes me want to swap.
As others have mentioned, swap out the stock launcher & browser, use NoLock, etc. I have tweaked around almost all the deficiencies of the 7.7 and have 99% of what I want in my perfect tablet. The only troublesome issues are this random looping reboot problem that we're discussing in the other thread I haven't been able to make headway with and also that i wish i could enable bluetooth phone profile on the Verizon version.
Maybe when more details are announced for Nexus Tab that make it more awesome, and if the damn random reboot problem on my VZ 7.7 keeps happening.

I do sympathize with the OP. The 7.7 will be my last Samsung product. it's simply not acceptable anymore to launch a premium tablet without appropriate support when the software is just not adequate.
This said, I agree with above. It is still the "best" hardware on the market as far as 7" format goes, with the only possible upgrades being the processor and the screen (resolution wise; would make a huge difference for ebook reading - you get used to the retina screen). I'd have to wait to be tempted by any of the upcoming models, an still seriously hope Samsung will do the right thing and release ICS soon.
The main drawback compared to the Google offering will be the lack of phone option.

There will be compromise, Mostly screen Nothing beats Amoled!!, no gsm 3g, maybe tiny battery , bigger chunkyer, not magnesium crappyer build quality. The reason the cpu will be good is because it will be mass manufactured, and thats why the price will be so affordable. I think.
I was reading a report online last week that spoke of them going into mass production with some CPU manufacturer, lets see as I have my good days and bad day with the galaxy tab 7.7....
Do wish they would kick the ICS out for this baby and we could see if worth keeping or not, but yes I totally agree with most people on this and Samsung has dropped the ball on this and will be my last Samsung product
I also agree with OP's point to an extent. I actually went from an original Galaxy Tablet, to the 7 Plus, and hate that Samsung does this to their customers. They got our money and forgot about after purchase support. If the 7.7 wasn't such a great device I wouldn't have went with another Samsung.
The next best device I would consider for myself would be the Toshiba Thrive 7.7 - also a SAMOLED+ screen, Tegra 3, skinnier than 7.7 but Wifi only and i really enjoy the battery life and built in LTE from the tablet w/ my 7.7.

to hit the price point, those things are well worth the sacrifice.
unless your tablet is your sole device, most people will have a phone which can do all those other things. the tablet was meant to be a secondary device you can use which is inbetween completely portable (phone) and non-portable (desktop).
Humm, no 3g that sux. I use 3g for data.
WiFi at home 3g when I am not, thats a deal braker for me.
I don't have the 7.7 but having played with it in store, I can't imagine Google matching it in quality for the price point they want. That'd be a pretty incredible feat.
Given that I think it'd be a hasty mistake to sell. It sucks for ICS to still not be there but it'll come - and chances are good you'll have a better tab than Google's then.

The Nexus tab is a competitor to the Kindle and Nook, i dont know why you would downgrade, give it a few weeks and ICS will be available.

Yep though Tegra3 is superior CPU, I think once ICS drops, aside from Tegrazone games we won't notice any real life difference. The CPU @ 1.4 in our 7.7 is more than fast enough. Heck even my 1Ghz Tegra2 sony tablet s flies with ICS
The killer battery life and 3G is whats making me keep this instead of flogging and buying a Nexus 7 (at a profit too lol)
I agree with more or less all the comments on here, the built quality of the 7.7, weight, and that screen is amazing, but we have been waiting far too long for ICS and Jelly bean is around the corner. We have the advantage of a SD slot 3g etc but the hardware specs of the Nexus 7 is just better in terms of CPU GPU etc under the hood. In my opinion if you just use your tablet for casual use, browsing and consuming digital content then the Nexus 7 makes sense. for cheaper and better experience. But if you have loads of apps, content and you use your tablet as a travel companion and main device to create and produce things then the 7.7 is still a great device. I am in 2 minds right now, might sell up with all my accesories and get 2 nexus 7's one for the wife and one for me. Just not sure

New to the forums, looking to by my first tablet. Not really interested in the ipad 3. I want a tablet which will be good for watching videos and playing a bit of games, also want a good web browser. Which tablet will be ideal out of these 3? My budget is $500, so the price factor doesnt really matter. Neither the s pen or the keyboard dock appeal to me. Thanks!
The Infinity would be the worst drain of money you could even consider. For its price, the hardware is underpowered - typing on it right now, Browser (stock, not Chrome - it's too slow to run Chrome smoothly) force closed (this is TF700 hate-post V2) and the keyboard froze for a good 10 sec when I got back in. Build quality and the like is down to chance, but even if you get a well-built one, the I/O sucks, Tegra 3 can't push 1080p without crying to its mother and to be honest, Asus' software updates are unreliable. The alarm clock's still broken from the one before last.
The Nexus 10, on the other hand, has the most powerful processor in any mobile device right now, and it is well-equipped to power the much, much higher resolution it has to offer. You can pretty much guarantee that it will provide you with the best Android has to offer on tablets both now and for a long time into the future. The Infinity is already obsolete.
Also, the Note's only real draw is the S Pen, though for some that is pretty significant (it's like a Wacom tablet computer). So if that isn't what you're after, save yourself some money and grab the Nexus 10.
The NEXUS hands down, 100%. It is the fastest Tab on the earth with the best screen of all. If only I did not buy a N7.
If I was looking to buy a 10in tab, then I would go for the nexus 10.

I'm still within my return period at Best Buy -- and will be bringing my Infinity and dock back, and getting a Nexus 10. Build quality for mine is fine -- actually very solid, nice form factor, superb battery and nice display. But it IS a bit laggy, and between ASUS and NVidia, there's way too much in the way of arcane routines to go through in order to unlock, root and safely flash it. Nexus 10 promises to be a much better experience in this respect. I'll be getting the 32GB N10.
If the Nexus 10 had 3G then I don't think I would hesitate to chose it, I have a nexus 7 and I'm thinking about giving it to my wife and getting a new Nexus 7 32GB+3G version, from the look of how the nexus 7 is going, I may just wait for the Nexus 10 in a few months when they bring out the 64GB+3G nexus 10 (although 32GB is probably more likely, I may just hold out for the 3G version)

Nexii have classically been rom magnets, though there is always the danger that they've finally released enough to dilute this effect. Also important is the number of users, which is also correlated to the number of roms. The 10 inch android tablet is not proven (but this is probably its best chance).
CleanRom on the Infinity is an Asus ROM, trimmed lovingly. It's still a manufacturer ROM, though, and I would bet you 2 Nexus 10's that the Asus UI never makes it to the n10.
I returned my infinity for the reasons in post 2. I'm not bitter, I just think my $500 is better spent elsewhere when my phone is better than my tablet...

It's not worth spending your money on TF700T because it lags crazy! I'm finally Unlocked (Clean rom 2.3) But what's the point? I just voided my warranty for a device that can't run smoothly without a Custom Rom. Get a device that actually runs smoothly without any type of tweaking.
My Infinity works great but It's not the same feeling like i had before i unlocked it (Fear of Bricking). I might even buy N10, Hopefully i don't get same experience i had on infinity.
Since that is cleared up, I would say Nexus 10 seems like a better deal in Hardware but If you want features like S-Pen and what not then Note is great. But at end of the day, you will be frustrated with slow OS than not having the features (S-Pen, Multiscreen)
Wait till there are couple of reviews for Nexus 10, I will not buy anything else until i see a video for it.

yea, if I were you I would avoid the TF700, especially if you don't want/need a keyboard dock.
It has a nice deisgn, and a great screen, but it is laggy as crap and I haven't rooted mine so the overall experience sucks.
On paper it's almost the perfect tablet. Unfortunately Asus really dropped the ball on this one.
I'm probably getting the Nexus 10. Then selling it if Asus makes a really nice Transformer replacement at CES. Or I'm switching to Windows 8. I have no idea what I want to do.
People , I was checking the App store , and found a good number of Apps supported for the tablet , Apple may boast a 275000 app selection , but many of them are just show off (like the brain explorer , titanic time) and so forth , they look good for a couple of weeks , until their charm fades away

Mm. One of my key reasons for not buying anything Apple is to use one to its fullest, you need the whole iRange, and Mac has the disadvantage vs Windows when it comes to ecosystem (especially games) so I don't really want to.

To those who are saying the Note 10.1 and the Transformer Infinity are ****ty tablets, how could you possibly think that? Have you never used a Coby tablet running GB?
To answer the OPs question, don't buy a tablet at all. Tablets are transitional technology, they won't be around forever and the ones that are brand new depreciate in six months and become totally outdated in a year. Even if tablets weren't a completely pointless waste of money, even if you could find some productive use for it that would make it practical for you to own one, no matter what tablet you buy it will be totally outdated in a year. So I say spend your money on something else.
After having all three, I'm holding on to my Nexus 10. The my experience with the ASUS TF700 was frustrating, and after multiple returns for a variety of issues I got a "good" one. Stock it's a frustrating experience, and making the necessary modifications voids your warranty.
The Note was a great tablet, although I'm not a fan of TouchWiz it wasn't so bad. It stomped the TF700 in web browsing too. The S-Pen was a novelty for me though, so I figured I'd save some money.
The Nexus is a beast, no regrets.

For your requirements, watching movies and playing games, I'd recommend:
1) Galaxy Note 10.1
The CPU/GPU and resolution are balanced right and all games are fast. Screen on battery life is consistently ~8 hours. Benefit is it's not just a consumption device but also creativity and productivity with pen for drawing, paperless note taking, etc. Price was dropped to $499 for 32GB version to compete with Nexus 10.
2) Nexus 10
Has potential but games need to be optimized for it and the ridiculously high resolution. Battery life, sound quality and screen quality are behind Galaxy Note 10.1. It's a brand new device so there are minor issues that need to be addressed with the upcoming OS updates.
Skip the Tegra3 Infinity. When looking at Google Play comments for games I always see people reporting performance and games not working on TF201/300/700 devices while it's fine on other devices. I had the Nexus 7 and some games like Nova 3, etc. are laggy while fine on the other devices.
Another option unless you're anxious to get something now is to wait closer to Christmas and hope for new devices to appear. A Galaxy Note 12" 1080p with 4-core Exynos 5450, 4GB DRAM, etc. would be ideal.

WACOM screens are different type of touchscreen and arent really compatible with the high resolution displays. If you want one of those just get the Note II 10.1 since that will probably be the only device with such a feature until the Note III

Wait even longer and there will be yet other devices with 4 gigs of RAM, 2 microSD slots, better screens and 8 core CPUs!!!

Even if CES brings many cool tablets, they likely won't go on sale until March at the earliest and probably longer. The Nexus 10 is a fine tablet with a great spec set. The screen is nice (no, 1920x1200 isn't enough for me, I have exceptional eyesight and prefer very high resolution) and the speed is good. Having unadulterated 4.2 with updates is nice too. The light bleed thing is blown WAY out of proportion. It is an issue on some, but I've found that the vast majority of people I've spoken with would never notice it or find it to be an issue. Mine has no problems with it. And I bet none of them will be $400 when released...
Basically, you can keep waiting for better and better devices or you can buy this one that is very good. If it suits your needs, I think you'll be happy with it. If you keep chasing specs, well then yes, you'll be sorry in a month when the new tech comes. And then again in another month when still newer stuff comes. And again and again.
Many of us have older tablets and an itch to upgrade. Original expectations were sky-high, but somewhat tempered by early feedback.
I have N10 in stock in stores just 2 miles away from where I live. Just might pull the trigger, but not before I see what's announced at CES.
Been an avid Android user - ordered my N1 the hour it was announced and never looked back. Use Android tablet daily, around 2 hours every day.

On subject of cars - I *waited* for VW to release diesel Passat. I now enjoy 50MPG hwy and laugh all the way to the bank. Anyone in the market for a new SUV outta be crazy not to wait a bit - in Jan there will be diesel Cherokees released in US market. V6 diesel Motori engine ... 40MPG hwy likely .

Hello, everyone.
I am in a search of a 10" tablet, and ever since I found out about Nexus 10 - I have been wanting to get one, and this time seems to be a good moment to get it, especially since its price has dropped since it's official launch a year ago, and I'm not even looking at the prices for used devices.
But what currently concerns me is a chance to gen in an awkward situation of getting a Nexus 10 and a few months later Google could announce the second generation of this tablet, just like with Nexus 7 when I bought it back in December only to find about the second generation which is FAR superior, and I just couldn't resist to not buy it (probably my best bought ever).
First I guess I should get it straight for every one who shall post in this thread - even despite N10 may be behind the rest of the tablet market compared to the latest and greatest 10" devices out there, I really dislike the Big Four (e.g. GNote 10.1 2014, iPad Air, Xperia Tablet Z and Transformer TF701) for various reasons, mainly being the OEM logo on the front and some design decisions I don't quite like.
So I guess you could consider this thread as "Convince me to get the N10", and I have several questions about this device:
1) How is the screen compared to N7 2013, if there are any owners of both devices?
2) How well does it perform? Do you face the lack of available RAM? Does it perform well on latest Android versions?
3) How good it this tablet for gaming? Is Mali GPU powerful enough to run Real Racing 3, Asphalt 8, Dead Trigger 2, Dungeon Hunter 4, Galaxy on Fire 2?
I was also thinking about an option of getting a used N10 + used iPad 2 if I am lucky with money

Well there were some rumors that LG will release a 2nd Gen nexus 10 but there's no official announcement yet. I'd say it's pretty close so you can wait a month until the holidays.
Either way, this is still a great tablet, kit kat brought a lot of under the hood improvements and the device is running very well, especially if you root it.
Unless you have to have the latest and great, you can pick up a used 1st gen cheap in like new shape... That's what I just did. People are unloading them now...
We're only talking maybe a month at most at this point so I'd just wait, you can go ahead and buy a refurbished one to save money though

Love my N10. I had thought about purchasing a Samsung Note 10.1 2014 edition, but changed my mind after using it for over a week (borrowed one from a friend). Nice performance boost, but no where near enough to make a large enough to warrant $500 when I have a decent tablet that does everything I need. S-Pen was really nice, but I stopped using it two days into the trial.
As to the questions.
1. The N10 has a super crisp 320ppi display. The resolution is higher than the N7 2013 tab, but the N7 has a higher price rating. One very important note: Kitkat 4.4 has made a significant change on the N10. Improved the color calibration. See the color calibration thread and check the posts post 4.4. I have an N10 and a N7 (original) and the color really improved on the N10. Someone who has the new N7 as well as the N10 will need to confirm, but I believe that they close to parity now.
2. Performance is great! I'm able to do whatever I want without lagging performance. The Mali God used also does a great job. Sure faster GPU's have since been released but the one selected was a top performer at release and still holds it's own. 4.4 also brought a boost in my benchmarks so the driver is better optimized than prior.
I don't know of any lack of memory. The 2GB does have a portion allocated to the GPU's, but I multitask a number of apps and have yet run into a problem related to a memory constraint. KitKat has also improved memory handling, so even less of an issue than previously.
3. Gaming? This tab really rocks. I have Asphalt 7 and Batman TDKR, Nova 3 and several others. Very smooth and perform well. Would like to see options to change screen resolution as the few times there is any reduced fps would be improved at a lower resolution.
iPad 2? Why? So that you can repurchase your apps on both platforms? Makes little sense to me.

A refurbished tab makes sense as you still get the warranty and save even more.
I disagree about one month at best. Media hype started this trend. If pattern follows suit, it's more likely in July 2014.

There has been NO credible evidence that a second gen N10 is even in existence.
It could be 1 week. It could be 6 months, OR they might NEVER make another 10 incher again!
I'll just happily plod along with my HP touchpad until it is released.. but I CANT STOP SEARCHING FOR NEWS ABOUT IT. I don't know what it is but I want a 2nd gen N10 so bad.. I think because I saw how good the 2012 N7 was, then the 2013 N7 blew it out of the water..
I got a 90 warranty refurbished delivered for $314 and I expect the new N10 when it comes out soon will be like $500+shipping+tax and so be heading to $550+, will it be twice as good as the $314 I paid? Doubt it.
Is there anything wrong about the current N10 which justifies delay? I'd say the biggest problem it has is probably battery life.

Well I'm not using my first gen iPad as my main device, and I am not planning to do so with iPad 2 either - it's just for few exclusive games and Tap Tap Revenge stuff, so no need in buying anything again

Hmm, so if I get a N10 for christmas or my b-day (both of which are in december) - I'll still have 6 months until the tablet is announced and a couple more until it arrives to Russia, which would be pretty similar to my N7 -> N7 2013 scenario

True, about speculation and yeah, maybe it does not even exist in the first place, but why would Google ditch the 10" market? The Nexus line needs devices of every popular size there is, and Google delivered just that with N4, N7 and N10. I see no reason in leaving that particular category by not releasing a second gen N10

What about it? Is 9000mAh battery not enough for a whole day of moderate usage?
Woot currently has a refurbished Nexus 10 32 GB on sale for $279. It's really tempting, but I think I'm going to hold off.

Reason: a bit more protection if its dud, refurbished at least has gone through kind of factory checking.

W'e're making different points. I agree the battery is long enough because for those situations I'm using it for many hours, I'm static right next to a mains power which I'd use anyway, those situations where power is not available, there's enough battery life.
I was making the point in the tablet universe, it is not amazingly good life, it is the weakpoint to improve in next version.

Well, the almost 3000mAh battery capaticy difference between N10 and iPad 3/4 obviously affects how long a tablet can live, that's not to mention the ridiculous 2500x1600-whatever resolution and the Exynos chip (which, AFAIK but I may be mistaken, isn't as efficent in the battery life aspect as Snapdragon CPUs are)

My thinking exactly, they're still in stock.
I got a few issues, one is when the N10 immediately comes out, it will be only from Google Play, and they'll hit it with both tax and shipping. If I wait a few months (typically) I can get it without either and the price drops. So the Woot offer is $314, whilst N10 successor, in reality will be in the $580 region, which is 85% higher cost.
Refurbished with 90days warranty covers against receiving a dud.
I looked at ebay, and they're selling used for at least that price.

I'm not understanding you. From a dealer, on a creditcard, will you get a working system? That's my concern.
If you're concerned about buying just before a successor comes out, then you must cover that in two ways:
only get it if the current specification, performance, meets your needs, so when successor comes out you don't actually have a problem which needs solving.
Take the age of the device into account when buying used. I'd say at the price Woot is asking, its fair given the date N10 came out and the % probability of a new device coming out. The Nexus 10 was announced over a year ago, I'd say chance of a new model announcement soon is high.
If you're trying to decide about waiting for new product which may come out soon, then you'll always have issues, e.g. the new product may get defects with initial batches, so even if the new device was announced today, you'd be wise to not get right anyway, I always wait for others to get it, and let defects get discovered and buy from the 2nd batch anyway so I'd not buy the next N10 for a few months anyway.

Anyone who spend hours and hours working on a tablet, should have the PSU with them, I don't think the battery life is so low to render it useless, a typical example of me being away from power is about 3 hours.
The PSU on tablets are small, microusb cables can be small, its not a Netbook with a bulky PSU and cord.

My concern is about the "refurbished" mark - what differs a normal new device from the same but refurbished one? From the definition I read about it being returned to the manufacturer for some kind of repairs, but what about scratches, breakings on the body, any damage, etc?
And yeah, if there is a second gen N10 coming - I'm probably getting it anyway, especially if it's not Samsung which means "Hello, Snapdragon" and maybe a Full HD screen instead of current N10's resoltion (like, seriosuly - who needs such a big-a$$ resolution on a 10" tablet!? These number races are killing the industry today ffs)

So your choices:
So imagine the N10's used value is $250 selling on ebay when the N10 2 comes out and suppose to swap to N10 2 in 6 months from now.
If you buy a N10 new now they're available for about $415 delivered, you'll add small blemishes to it, so it will look the same when you sell it as a refurbished one, you'll pay more $ for it and so when you sell it, you've lost $165, so you paid $1/day to use it.
If you buy a refurbished N10 for $314, it will look the same when you sell it as the new one when you sell it, but you lost $64, so you paid $0.4/day to use it.
The key thing is what you get in your hands is fully working with no significant marks than you'd do yourself to a new unit.

Well you've answered your own question then, there are problems for you with the current model, issues you'd find an urgent need to swap it out, so don't buy the current N10 obviously.

I think 90days is enough to cover for receiving a dud, anything after is really about you accidentally damaging it and those longer warranties do not cover for accidental damage. Hence the free supplied warranty in reality is sufficient.

Well not in my case, getting it from the HS, finding it to be broken or something, and then sending it back, and waiting again until a new one arrives... Too much time consuming, especially with how much time the deliveries usually take from the states to Russia (which can reach up to 2 weeks or even more)
I don't care if the nexus 10 2 was $1000 I would buy it the instant it is released..
