Have you tampered with your stock rom, eg. deleted or changed some of the original apps? Im just guessing there is a reason you got a custom recovery in the first place?

Do a search in the thread for 'r171' and you should find it. If it's provided in .img , you can use fastboot to flash it. (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
Another method is to take any other Franco.kernel zip and replace the boot.img inside using an archive manager on your pc. Then just flash the modified zip in recovery.

Okay, thanks! Any reason why we need to use fastboot rather than TWRP or something?

No. It's just a different method in flashing a kernel.

If its an img file you need to use fastboot. Twrp will only flash files that are packaged in the correct manner.

Ubuntu on unrooted Nexus 4

Is there any easy tutorial for installation of ubuntu on unrooted nexus 4?

I'm interested in trying that out, but at the same time, kind of hesitant. It would be nice to have both Sacs and CM11 at the same time though!
