i want to increase ram of my other android phone (very low ram)..by swapping technique..i m confused with class of sd card.. which is better for swapping== class 6 or 4 or 10.... performance matters with high class or not in android?? Should i go for class 6 or class 10 or class 4 ...plz suggest me ...i want smooth performance in low ram android phone...

Dont use swap with class 6/4, your sd card will eventually die in months.
Class 10 sd card is recommended and only performs the best with swapping..

[Q] What memory cards are you using to run android from?

Hi Guys, I'm currently testing the MattC 1.5 build from a generic 4gb microSD card i had lying around and it works pretty well, but i was thinking of buying an 8gb Sandisk Mobile Ultra card to replace it. I would link to the car but i'm not allowed A quick search on google/ebay should bring up the card i want.
Do you think I would notice an improvement in speed with android running from the card?
kingston 8gb sdhc card Chinese bootleg
If your current card is a class 2 and the 8 gb is a class 4 or higher than yes, tou would notice a difference.

I use Sandisk 16gb sdhc and no problems with running android-of course only proper wm rom.... Not sure which class is the card
my current card is a Class 2 4gb Sandisk, for £17 i might just get the new card and see how it goes. Would you expect an increase in the score on the Quadrant benchmarks?
Sandisk mobile ultra sdhc 4 gb class 6
are these cards definitely class 6 as i have seen various sites saying they are only class 2 but much faster than the class 2 minimums?
I use a Sandisk ultra sdhc 8gb class 6......working great
16gb stock card that came with my tmous hd2, so im guessing its a class2 but everything runs smoothly tho.

8gb A-DATA class 6
Kingstone 4GB SDHC Class 4, working perfectly, but I'm looking for a class 6 card to see the difference in speed
See my signature, working perfectly without lags , I have never seen a SOD.

Hi,
Well, I use since last week a SanDisk 32 microSDhc class 2. Pretty fast in data transfer.
Read somewhere that the class 2 of this 32 GB edition can be compared to class 6 of older micro SD cards.
Had the standard 2gb microSD before, which was sold with the HD2.
Have no issues of speed with SanDisk 32 microSDhc class 2, when it comes to running Android and transfer data.
Recommend it!
generic 16gb class 2
Adata 8g class 6 lighting fast cost $15 running mattc froyo 1.5 fullram
Apacer 16GB SDhc class 4
Working perfectly..
Download SD Card Speed Tester from Market
and test your real speed. Run it three times on each card.
I have Class 2's that are 2's. I have the original 16 gb Class 2 that rates at six and a class 4 Sandisk that rates at a 9. You never know till you test it. Also have a Class 6 that rates at a 9.
8 gig kingstone class 4.
i got a 4 gig class 6 micro sdhc, but i can't notice a difference in speed big enough to compensate the loss of 4 gigs (lots of songs stored).

SD Card Class Survey

For those of you who have upgraded your SD cards: what class of SD card do you have? Is it worth the extra money to get anything other than a Class 2 card?
I stuck with the class 2. I read the more expensive class is more suitable for capturing hd video. I don't do alot of that, I got my 16gb class 2 to store movies.
Samsung Vibrant using Bionix 1.9.1 w/JACs UV/0C v1.1
I have a 16gb card labeled as a class 4 (and priced as such), but it performs like a class 6.
I got it because I was expecting to use Apps2SD at some point in the future and it makes a HUGE difference there.
The stock card is a class 4. I had an 8 GB class 6 from my G1 days that I opted to use instead. Class speed matters, but you need to debate how much read/write are you doing with your SD card. Thankfully the Vibrant has a lot of internal memory too.
The higher the class the more rapid the data transfer. But a reputable, like Sandisk class 4 will outperform a "Joe's SD Co." Class 6 in my experience. I was running a2sd on my G1 with the stock class 2 and I had time to make a sandwich while waiting for apps to open, better result with a class6. Also when transferring large amounts of data between PC and device it will significantly cut down the time.

Class 6 16 gig
have a class 6 16 gig I use alot for data storage fro my work. I have found the Kingston class 10 is slower than this one, read/write speed DO matter if you use it alot, and I do. Silicon power is releasing a class 10 16 gig when I get one Ill report back it benches and see if it meets the stated benches it is claiming

[Q]SD card calss - is it so important?

Ok, a bit noobish question, but i have to ask :
Is sd card class important for speed, performace, and everything when running android on hd2 ?
I have SanDisc 8 gb SDHC class 2 ( ) sd card atm.. it bugs sometimes ( slow wake up, etc... slow dls.. ) but i can live with it..
But ive heard that sd card class is playing major role in performance and stability and other stuff..
So im asking you, should i buy class 6 ( hard to find in Belgrade, Serbia) or class 4... Is it going to be better than this with class 2 ?
Thanks in advance ...
Sorry for bothering
I use a class 4 32gb card and it works fine. The 16gb card class 2 my HD2 came with also worked fine.
I honestly do not see any difference between using my Class 2 16gb, my class 4 8gb or my class 6 8gb...when it comes to wake up times and system speed...the differences are mearly milliseconds
Where I do see is difference is when adding media to the SDcard (music and movies)...Files that take 3-4 minutes to load on my class 6 can often times take 15 minutes or longer to load onto my class 2.
...my primary card I use is my class 2 16gb and it does not bother me one bit.

[Q] Can Sandisk Ultra 16 GB (Class 10) SD card be used for CM7

I am planning to buy Sandisk Ultra 16 GB (Class 10) SD card.
Can I use it to run CM7 from it?
Will this be better choice over Class 4 as Class 6 is not available?

Ordinarily the SanDisk class 4 is the SD of choice. That is because it has superior small file read/write speeds to higher class SDs. The one you are asking about is relatively new and I don't know if many have tried to see how well it works. Look at this thread to see why most recommend the class 4:

So Sandisk cl 4 is enough for running cm 7 from it.(I asked the question because I wanted to be clear wether the UI would be snappy with class 4).
Thank you for saving me some
I honestly can't tell any difference in running from emmc or a Sandisk Class 4... in terms of UI responsiveness..
