[ROM | ZTE OPEN] FFOS 1.2 multilanguage - upgradeable through B2G nightlies

Hello again:
Build B2G for ZTE Open (inari) is tricky. People who want to develop applications with firefox's app-manager extension need to wait for ZTE upgrades or build their own system, which involves some permission modifications in boot.img and some tweaking to recover the bootanimation (lost on custom builds) among other things.
But hey, I've build a production pre-release of firefox os 1.2, and so far so good , and I like to share it with you via a flashable .zip file. Remember this file can be installed ONLY from CWM recovery, cause its not signed
features:
Version 1.2-prerelease (user release):
Build with blobs from version 1.1.0B02 (also known as 1.1.0B06) for ZTE Open (EU version)
Multilanguage - upgradeable through B2G nightlies (for both gecko & gaia)
Compatible with firefox app-manager (firefox 26+)
Includes su & busybox binaries ( busybox is linked with clear, grep, head, less, lsmod, more, nohup, pidof, ping, printf, pstree, sysctl, tail, telnetd, tftpd, traceroute, uname & usleep, for debugging via adb)
No carrier branding, just official firefox os branding
Fastboot enabled | ADB rooted
does *NOT* overwrite your recovery partition (you won't loose CWM recovery )
known bugs: isn't a bug but a security feature: "ADB should not be allowed to connect when device is locked in production builds"
FAQ:
I'm on version 1.x.y of 'some-carrier' build, Will this zip work in my case: Yes, only and just only if you have CWM installed.
There are a lot of strange files inside .zip, why ? this is because ZTE provides upgrades with radio & bootloader firmware (incompatibles between versions) If I want to support this ROM I need to make sure everyone have the same version ( the version that matches with the blobs )
Of course, YOUR WARRANTY IS VOID, and if you brick your phone , this is NOT MY FAULT

Is your build a development build (of FFOS 1.2)? I cant't open certified apps with the app-manager (I have changed the pref "devtools.debugger.forbid-certified-apps" to false in my profile. But there is no certified app to see or to open in the app-manager. If not, can you - or somebody else - build this development build of FFOS 1.2?

ROM is pretty stable. I don't know if I'm the only one having this issue, but it looks like my data is connecting but then it isn't working. I'm connected to AT&T right now. When I pull down the notification bar, I see that I am getting an "H" (HSPA+) signal but if I try to open firefox and hit a site, it says I'm not connected to the internet.
I'm aware that this is in a prerelease state but do you know how I could fix this?

@martin_s5670: AFAIK there are three types of builds: engineer builds, userdebug builds and user builds. This is an user build, but you can also test privilegied (aka certified) apps on it. If you want to see your installed system apps I'm sorry but you can't do it in this way
@ryanolson7: could you please test your connection via a ping

if you can't reach google, then I would appreciate if you paste somewhere your logcat in this way:
adb logcat | grep RIL > file.log
and just deactivate data, wait a few seconds, and activate it again.

I'll do some further tests on this branch (because some blobs may change from 1.0.1) but here in Spain both 3G & 2G data seems to works well, need to find a place with HSPA+.
Are you in the USA? I'm asking because this rom is based in open_eu release ( AFAIK they are the same except for radio capabilities )

Well I see that you are going to give Backup folder of your ROM. Can you please make a flashable zip with Aroma and built-in customization? This will make it more user friendly and easy to install. Many of you have no doubt heard of osm0sis' Anykernel2 and previously koush's Anykernel. Kerneller is an alternative designed solely around Sony's Xperia lineup, taking into account the 'recovery-inside-ramdisk' situation we've found ourselves in. However, the script should also support other devices such as Nexus. (I say should because I can only test on the Xperia devices I own -- if anyone could help test, I would be very grateful!)
And with the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop, users have been facing a dilemma: To download a permissive or enforcing version of the kernel? Kerneller fixes that issue by combining the two in a single zip using a slightly modified version of keycheck, allowing the user to choose what will be installed at the time of flashing.

I'm sorry to say I don't understand the question. This script cannot lock or unlock anything.
It modifies the boot sector of your device. For that to be possible in the first place, you need an unlocked bootloader.

Your best bet would be using 'git clone', though you can also just download the whole repo as a zip file (here, if you're having trouble finding it). Note though that the packing script won't work in Windows unless you have a *nix shell emulator (such as Cygwin or win-bash)!
You can still zip the thing together yourself using 7zip or WinRAR, however it will not be a signed zip (so some recoveries -- like Cyanogen Recovery -- may refuse to flash it, but you could use the bash script to figure out what you have to do in Windows to sign your new zip).
If you do eventually get it to run, I'd be very glad if you could send me the recovery.log of the flash via PM!

I don't know if your device's boot image is assembled using mkbootimg (like Nexus devices). If so, you may be able to.
But you'll need to pack the device tree binary and zImage into the zip (just use unpackbootimg).

So, I'm very confused, I usually build boot.imgs right out of the AOSP source code... how could I leverage this?

It's not really meant for people who compile ROMs, but more for kernel devs or testers who only compile the kernel.
Instead of always having to extract the ramdisk from boot images (whenever the ramdisk changes, which we kernel people can't know and check for every single kernel, nor do we care) and then using mkbootimg (meaning you have to release one boot image for every ramdisk you need to support, i.e. if you want to support ROMs with vastly different ramdisk implementations, where mixing ramdisks would cause a bootloop).
With this, you go around the problem. Compile the kernel outside of the ROM tree (which takes a few minutes vs several hours that compiling the entire ROM can take), grab the zImage-dtb (or adjust the script to use zImage + dt.img), and package the thing together. (There are options to also include kernel modules in the zip, and scripts that will compress and sign the zip for you.)
The highlight of this project used to be being able to switch Selinux status when flashing the zip, instead of adding androidboot.selinux=permissive for each boot image, and then uploading two images. Nowadays compatibility of this switch with various devices and Android versions is questionable (I can't test personally because of how limited Xperia devices have become recently -- the 3.10 kernel does not work with enforcing selinux), but the core idea of using it to avoid having to create boot images is still alive and kicking.

Hi friends this is the 1st beta from Chinese developer Shumxin
It comes with Chinese bloatware, Bugs and it don't have the integrated functions like gesture and alert slider settings.
Steps:
1) If you are on OOS 2.X.X bootloader upgrade to to 3.X.X bootloader.
2) Flash the modified version of TWRP for MIUI or one from bluspark or Nachiket.Namjoshi

5) Now save it 7-zip asks you to update the zip. DO IT!
6) Flash it using the TWRP for 3.X.X

You can flash it without modifying the updater script using the new TWRP.Also to mention ,installation will take time as package is extracted through the old way.

I am working the new version which will have alot of features. It has alot of work, we are getting rid of that userinterface for 3d using ogre3d. The new version will allow you to choose which interface you preffer, but I'll concentrate on the 3d version. It will also include mtk flashing where you will just choose like say infinix 551 (remove frp) or readbackup format etc, devs will have access to a new mtk flashing system to add new phones support.
