The DIY micro sd card to micro usb adapters are cool, but it still is not completely functional. What I mean is if you can't bump the end hard or plug in the micro usb charger while using the phone's extra storage. Only way possible we know now is using a wireless charging mat which I'm considering. Have you guys ever heard of a micro sd card having bluetooth capability or an sd card reader that has bluetooth built into the reader?

Only thing I could find is this:

It's not Bluetooth, but uses WiFi
Here's a better link:

Hm, the second one seems decent, but the price tag! Wow. Thanks for the findings.
It is not an SD Card Reader but it does have a better price and that is a Kingston Wi-Drive.

I had one and it wouldn't transfer files just media and was too big to carry around.
I know something.
Cloud.
There's no bluetooth devices? Bluetooth's connection must only work with voice. Wi-Fi wouldn't work because I would need to be using this storage without an online connection.

Had a similar problem.
Solution - use your old phone with micro SD slot and use it as a Bluetooth adapter. Better battery life, cheaper, might even even be smaller then AirStash and has additional functions .

I've seen many people complain that they wish the Iconia had a full-size SD slot and not a microSD one. Today, I realized that microSD can be a big advantage.
My wife is on a school trip this weekend, currently on a bus with 60 high-schoolers. She just called because she realized that she'd left behind some important instructions that she's supposed to read to the kids on the bus. I can e-mail them to her, but the problem is that the tablet (my Acer Iconia) doesn't have a WiFi connection on the bus and lacks 3G so she can't receive the e-mail there. The instructions would be too small to easily read from her phone. Fortunately, her phone is an Android one with a microSD card. So, I've e-mailed her the instructions - she can save them on the microSD card, swap the card into the tablet, copy the file to the tablet's memory, and then return the cards. This will put the document on the tablet, where she can easily read it.
This made me realize that a similar solution would be useful with photos. I can take the photos on my camera, copy them to the tablet and convert the RAW images to 800x600 JPGs. Next, I can put the JPGs on a microSD card in the tablet's card slot and then put that card into an Android phone to e-mail them as desired. True, having 3G on the tablet, or setting up tethering with the phone, would be better options, but neither are available to me at the present. So, this will be a great solution - when I replace my iPhone with an Android (I hope to have a Samsung Galaxy SII LTE/Skyrocket soon).
Thanks for that post. It just shows how far we have come with technology over the years and how tablets are becoming part of every day life.
Just be careful putting the SD card in and out of devices. I think the locking tab on most micro SD cards is much too small and will wear off. This will make the card not hold in.Safari as the Iconia its tough to get micro card locked in .for me anyway.I don't think micro slots should be mechanically spring loaded to small to work correctly.
You can do Bluetooth file sharing between tablet and iteration non android devices.just pare them. I think you have to send the file from the phone.
From my touch pro2 i send files to the A500 via bluetooth. Im sure you can do the same with a android phone. I wouldnt go swapping cards from device to device.
Why didn't she just connect her Android phone to the USB port of your iconia via the cable?

Well, that would have been possible, if she'd had the cable available on the bus.

I've found that bluetooth usually works pretty well for transferring small files. It seems to be too slow to transfer larger files quickly, however. With files over 20mb in size I try to use a cable, or even a thumb drive with the acer.

also, my Acer doesn't seem to recognize my android phone when I connect them via usb cable. I'm using an LG Revolution. Maybe it works on other phones, but maybe the acer just won't recognize another android os?

Do the MicroSD cards have locking tabs? The ones I have dont.... thought it was only on the full size.
But aside from that... the OP had the exact same thought as me when I got my tab. Although i really wanted a full size SD slot for the extra capacity and to swap with my camera, I ended up using a Mini/Full SD adapter to use the Minis in my camera.
I bought this from my local Kmart and use the USB adapter in my A500 to read MicroSD from my phone or another tablet. Beats the crap out of actually trying to fiddle the one out from my tablet, and it has the bonus of being able to plug into my PC and my car stereo's USB port if I want to listen to music from it.

Works really well and its a tiny little thing, I can leave it plugged into my tablets USB port all the time and it doesn't get in the way too much at all.

You need to turn on USB storage on the phone!

Not write protect locking. Ian refering to the tiny bump on the side of the card that holds it into the slot. This is not used on many phones. But the Iconia SD card locked in by this tab.I have a SD card I used alot between two phones with music on it.this card will not stay in position on my tablet that lock (little bump on card) is worn off

Even with USB storage turned on it won't recognize it! My computer can see both drives on my phone just fine but the tablet gets nothing :/
I intentionally bought a micro SD card + SD adapter for my digital camera so I can easily swap the card into my tablet to transfer photos over. Yes, a USB adapter would have done the job with a regular SD but this is one less thing to carry around. Now I can swap Micro SDs between my tablet, camera and phone. It feels good to be connected
First of all, I am a newbie. I have searched the boards and can't find the answer.
I am trying to get my Nook Color back to stock so I can return to Barnes & Noble. When I tried to write the TWRP File to my SD Card, I received Error 19, media is write protected. I have formatted my SD card and keep getting the error.
Anyone know a solution?
Is the microSD in an adapter to (for example) full size SD?

Yes, I use the Adaptor to put the SD card into my laptop slot.
A) It's always better to use an external reader than a built-in slot
B) There should be a little slidey tab on the side of the SD adapter, slide it to it's other position.

I tried sliding it to the other position but it didn't make a difference. I bought a new SD card at lunch. I will try it tonight.
Seriously think about one of those $4.99 USB stick adapters as well. You'd be surprised. Just like the magic going to a Sandisk brand uSD card will do, going to an external reader will do the same.
hi,was wondering if anyone has got an OTG cable to work on the n4 or do i just give my missus the 16gb micro sd card
no it doesnt work. no one has gotten it to work.

What 16GB mico sd card? The only solutions I have found for transfering files is via WiFi with an app. Or using a Wi-Drive via WiFi and both accessing the files on the drive.
hey gang, was wondering about getting some advice on what to do about my sd card...
i bought a sandisk micro sd with its adapter and figured id stock it up for when my s4 shows up... the thing is, it wouldnt mount to my macbook pro, mounted just fine to the macbook air, so i stocked it via file sharing...
but down the road? not really the way i would like to do it, the sd reader works fine on the pro, works with other sd cards...
my question is... in the best opinions, do you all think i should run to best buy, try out a different brand like PNY micro sd and adapter? or another sandisk and see if maybe its just this particular adapter...??
if they dont work, i can atleast return it then just buy the external reader... etc etc
thanks

It's probably the adapter, I've never had an issue with mine. another option is to get a usb adapter which is just what i use now

Reason I speculate adapter is because it works on one but not other.

you're right, it could just as easily be the port on your mac too, so it would still be cheaper to initially try another adapter
Apple store put another sd card, worked just fine... Bought another sandisk and a pny micro. Will test it out later. Hopefully one works.
just plugged in the new Sandisk 32gb micro sd, same exact copy, just a new one... mounted perfectly! that was easy...

Hello
I wanted to know if one plus 5 can read either the Micro SD or the SD card, if I use a card reader for this. I tried with one : https://www.amazon.com/Vanja-standa...martphones/dp/B01JJ1VDQK/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t
Though my laptop read both the cards (and my laptop has a SD card slot) but none of my phones or my tablet did. So I was wondering if one plus 5 has the support to read the memory cards.
thanks

Well, it has support for USB OTG (on the go), and I have tested the USB OTG with a USB C OTG flash drive and it did work. You have to enable it in the settings first, and I can't get TWRP to see it, but it works fine in file browser apps.

I know, I'm just saying, it has OTG support, which is what the thing you linked is. So in theory, it should work. But no promises.
OK, if you can get an adaptor to fit the sd card reader (usb-A to c), found one in my S8+ box, then you can use the sd card adaptor. Tried with one I have and an older sd card. Read fine...

can you send an image of the connection?
and also which card reader u r using?
It is something like this - https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/comsol-usb-type-c-to-type-a-adaptor-cocmafad or this https://www.firefold.com/adapter-us...OJySZV1E44FQIt58RIlHe51HLDHD67YaAv6LEALw_wcB- but all in one with a lexar micro sd reader attached.
I found mine in the Samsung galaxy S8+ box
what why just get a USB-c micro sd car reader. Slide the micro sd card into and plug it in. Forget all the crazy wired adapters. Something like this....
https://www.amazon.com/Lexar-microS...29&sr=8-3&keywords=usb+c+micro+sd+card+reader
Mine allows more than just sd cards - old school usb keys that aren't OTG, possibly HDD's/SSD's and other USB equipment.
If you just want micro sd cards though, that's a good idea....

Hello
Till now I have tried all these sd and micro sd card readers from amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019PI2WPS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JJ1VDQK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBECO3G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and I am sorry to say, that none of them work with One Plus 5. The phone does not read the cards at all. Is there something in the OS that maybe does not allow the cards to be read?
I really need something that works, or some workaround, since I have 3 different cards, with lots of my music on them.
2 cards are exFat and one card is vFat, if that helps.
The Flash drive with the OTG cable works OK.
thanks

No idea. I toggle the OTG on in settings and just plug mine in and it works.
Hello
OK I have got it working now. I installed Total Commander file manager and that read my sd card. So now ES File Explorer also reads it. The thing is that I have to keep total commander installed, otherwise ---- Es File Explorer stops reading the card.
Yep, OTG seems to only allow the Stock file explorer toread the OTG devices, nice to know the workaround...
