So here's the issue. I factory reset my rooted Nexus 7 and when it turned back on it wouldn't connect to my open wi-fi network. I can't go into settings and turn on USB debugging either. The only thing I changed was the browserproxyprovider.odex What can I do?
- I do have a CWM backup but again USB debugging isn't on after the factory reset...
- I can go into recovery mode
- Would that help at all? (See attachment)
Don't mess with odex files directly. Since your using a toolkit, don't mess with them period.
Reflash ROM, wipe data/factory reset in CWM or flash stock image from Google and start over.

Hey,
i've got a huge problem with my Nexus 7 32 GB 3G. I've had root and i made an update many times without any problem, but once i was making some update of 4.2.2 the device didn't want to turn on and it freezed on Google logo. I tried to do plenty of ways to repair it; unroot, factory reset, wipe... Then i tried to do a flash via Nexus 7 Toolkit, but... there is the problem! How can i do the flash without enabled USB debugging? Is there any way to evade it? Or can I enable USB debugging from my PC for example? HOW??? PLEASE!
Is there anyone who can help me with solving this problem?
Any ideas, recommendations..?
Thank you for all of your responds.:good:
flash a factory image using fastboot...
USB debugging doesn't have anything to do with fast boot mode. Fast boot is the proper way to flash the images.
USB debugging only matters within the booted OS.
You should spend some time learning the right way to do things instead of relying on toolkits.

Hi, BerryRide...
You don't need USB Debugging enabled (as far I'm aware, it's not possible anyway, in FASTBOOT/BOOTLOADER mode)...
Download the factory stock image for your device, from here...
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images.
Shutdown your tablet... and reboot into FASTBOOT/BOOTLOADER mode (Vol Down BUTTON + PowerOn BUTTON)...
Hook your tablet up to your computer, via a USB cable (preferably the USB cable that originally shipped with your tablet)...
And run...
Code:
fastboot devices
This should return a SERIAL NUMBER, indicating you have a FASTBOOT connection, and you can then run whatever FASTBOOT commands you like... including what is in the FLASH-ALL script in the FACTORY STOCK image for your specific device.
Rgrds,
Ged.
Bumping this thread because it just really helped me!!! Thanks @GedBlake!!!!
For the longest time I could never get fastboot or flash-all to work without first enabling USB debugging and much swearing and dealing with permissions. Wound up that my device wasn't getting recognized by Windows at the bootloader. It finally worked after a manual update Device Manager -> Update Drivers using the SDK Manager directory (I subsequently read about in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583801).
Updating my three Nexii 7 to MRA58V was a breeze this time. Wow- thanks again for the direction.
Thanks in advance for your help!!!
I have Nexus 7 That started having error message of: Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped.
BUT now that it's been wiped, and upon reboot, when trying to go through the initial step of connecting to Wifi, I can select a network but when interface comes up to enter password and cursor is in position for alpha numeric entry -- NO KEYBOARD to enter password for network...
Can't get into tablet to turn on developer settings, usb debugging, etc. get into device... So now what?
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

You say it has been wiped, how did you do that? Do you mean the apps data or a full factory reset?
Also a usb OTG cable is a cable that allows you to use usb devices with your tablet. For example usb pen drives, a usb mouse, a usb keyboard ect. If you had a OTG cable you could use a keyboard to type in your passwords in order to get access to the tablet and recovery your data

An otg and you could use any keyboard. No drivers needed, as they are already there.
If you have no otg and cant get the on screen kb back, you might have to reload the os fresh via fastboot. After all, the factory reset already killed your data. I also recommend unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) of your choice.

You really don't need that, nor do you need that guide. There is a guide somewhere about flashing factory images. All you need to do is flash the system.img through fastboot.

My nexus 7 was on 4.2.1 and receive a notification to update to 4.3. It got stuck on no command. Now I cannot get it back even after I wipe data or do anything. I've tried to use NRT to get it running but apparently it requires the usb debug mode to be on and I didn't have this on before the crash. Is there any way I can get this thing up back to factory without having usb debug mode on or can I turn this mode on via command line some how? TIA.
Wugs toolkit can get it back to stock. I'd imagine. I was in similar situation and it saved me.

I also have this problem, stock unrooted 4.2.2, and I just opend it. First time turning it on, went to the update to 4.3, and stuck on the big X, tried factory reset but nothing.
Im going to try Wugs toolkit, because usb debugging is also off

I have been searching for hours/days, can not find a solution. I recently unrooted my Nexus 7, 2012 WIFI to download and try the new stock Lollipop 5.0 . I found out the the 5.0 was too buggy and kept freezing up my Nexus. I decided to revert back to 4.4 using the nexus toolkit (as I have many times in the past) and in the process lost my recovery option while in bootloader mode (was on a friends pc and had loose USB cable). Because I can not access the system to enable USB debugging. I am now on my own PC using a good USB cable I cant get ADB to recognize the Nexus. I have tried many drivers. I am thinking this is considered a hard brick scenario. When I do a reboot in bootloader mode, I get gray screen. When I try using recovery, I get dead droid with upside down triangle. Any help would be appreciated. I am not a rookie at this but also not a pro so I need help.
Remember, I do not have USB debugging enabled, nor can I boot up to access dev options. I can go into bootloader and adb modes but can not get adb or nexus toolkit to recognize. Thanks
Anyone?
I have an unlocked and Rooted Nexus. My PC would not recognise my Nexus after I updated it to 4.2.2 so i thought I'd flash it back to Jellybean using Rom Manager. Now when I power the Nexus up it loads the Google screen but then goes black, it is still powered up as you can see a faint illumination. I can access TWRP but i wiped the Nexus and have no backup to restore "Doh" Is the any way to restore another Rom while the Nexus is in this state ?
Thanks in advance.

How can I flash the image as I can't connect my nexus to PC. It shows up in devices when I have it in TWRP but when I try and do the soft brick restore in Root toolkit it say that the drivers are not correct. I have tried updating the drivers but I don't know if USB debugging is on.
If your computer recognizes the n7 in twrp mode, see if it recognizes adb in twrp too. while connected to computer go into twrp's Mount menu and mount everything, system and turn on adb access. hopefully your data partition will show up on the computer. if so you can download and load up a flashable ROM zip and flash it in twrp, or maybe you can load up and restore someone else's nandroid backup.
Ye Ha.... We have success . Managed to salvage my Nexus and now by sideloading the new rom and Gapps is fully working.
Thanks very much for your help. Its easy when you know how lol.
Now I'm back to the original problem that my Nexus doesn't show up in File Explorer. Any ideas ???
Great! So now it boots into android but there computer doesn't see it? maybe your USB connection options are unchecked. go to Settings -> Storage and tap the menu button up top to bring up the USB connection setting dialog. Make sure MTP is checked.
If it still doesn't seem to work go into your device manager in your computer and make sure the computer isn't seeing the N7 as unknown device or something. You might need to uninstall the device and reinstall (or update driver).
