Is there a POP3 App that will leave the emails on the server (so that MS outlook can download them)
I looked at K9 but I did not see that option.
Thank you!
The default email app will do this by default. In fact, it won't delete anything unless you change the incoming mail setting to delete either on download or on delete from the app's inbox.
Open your account settings and check out the incoming mail settings.

USE I-MAP...
I have always had trouble with pop accounts not following the leave copy on server . I map will use a bit more data but will sync your email across all devices..
imap is the way to go
If you have the option of using IMAP, sure. Some providers don't give you that option (Earthlink for one) or you don't want 5 different "Inbox" folders in your mail client. Or maybe your provider really limits your mailbox size. Nothing wrong with POP, its just a tool.

This is what I"m Interested in. When I send emails from my Tilt, I want them to save to my Sent box, Just Like a regular txt message. I have Mail2web email but they dont provide this feature for the free Account. I love mail2web but the no sent emails in the box is my only Gripe. Now to remedy this I tried setting up Gmail, But for some reason when I set up Gmail using Pop3 any outgoing mail I send will appear back in mt Inbox as Well as my sent Box( This is Very annoying). If I set up Gmail using Imap, nothing will get saved in the Sent Box....
Any Ideas or can anyone help me with this Bug in Gmail or a better way to set this up ?
As of yet I havent been able to fix this.
In outlook 2003+ on windows you can specify IMAP folders but as of yet on Winmo I havent been able to do this.
Ok I thought I was the only Idoit not getting this to Work ! It's annoying and I've been working on it for about a week.... I"m Puzzeled !
even the online version of gmail sends stuff back to your inbox... makes it like threaded messages.

I Dont mean Including the Orginal txt in the Email. I mean it will resend me my out-going Email As a New email in my Inbox ?
It Does this online as Well from an actually Computer ? I"ve never experienced this ?
Has anyone ever found a solution to this ?
sending is not handled by pop3 or imap both those protocols are only for recieving
both of them use smtp for sending mails
i'm using IMAP for my gmail access and the default is to not sync the sent folder, anything i send only resides on gmail itself, i don't get it showing in my inbox as well. Haven't tried setting sent to sync as well, i don't need to see what i have sent.
mail2web is aggrivating me, any other FREE accounts out there? It wont sync 2 save my life,...
OK, just gone into the folder management side of my PPC's gmail account and flaged Sent items for sync as well as my Inbox and hey presto they have all appeared. Had to make sure the folder at the top was checked and not the obvious sent folder but its synching my sent items.
To clarify my PPC gmail folder list looks like this:
Gmail
[Google Mail]All Mail
Bin
Drafts
Sent Mail
Spam
Starred
and below this i have folders for any categories i have created as well as the default Inbox. Checking the top Sent Itmes has synched it with gmail.
I've connected at the wifi, the internet is working on the device but i get an error wen I try to connect to my gmai account or wen i want to set up my yahoo email.
I also experienced the same problem at start but only with the yahoo account, for the yahoo account to work you need to do the following:
1. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned off and 3g or Edge is connected.
2. Press the E-Mail icon (the default Android E-Mail application)
3. Enter your Yahoo E-Mail address and password
4. Press “Manual Setup” in the lower left hand corner
5. For “Incoming Server Settings” set the IMAP server to “imap.mail.yahoo.com”
6. For “Outgoing Server Settings” set the SMTP Server to “smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com”
7. Check “Require sign-in” and press Next
The yahoo account will only work when using the 3g or Edge network, it does NOT work with wifi. This is not the case with gmail which worked fine from the beginning both on wifi and 3g.
thanks for the advice.

There's a similar item in the settings on your gmail account.
the Google Mail program does not need it, but to use the standard Mail program, you need to go to gmail on your pc
click options
set the IMAP access on in the settings somewhere.
Then the HTC Mail app can access your Gmail as well.

I cannot get my google business account to work on my HTC Desire 526. When I go to Accounts and Sync, both account (personal gmail and business) are showing, but when I try to access email, it is not there. Am I missing a step?
People, i want to know what do u use for Gmail account emails???
Do you use "mail" or "gmail" ???
Well,in mail you can set the synchronosation and retrival timings and frequency.
While using the "gmail" , u cannot set frequency of sync of mails.
Do suggest what is best for Gmail???

Guess it's personal taste, but I myself prefer the Gmail app, since mail notifications appear pretty much the second the mail arrives, and not on the next sync
I prefer gmail app too. There is no synch time, because gmail app have push notification.

I peter the Gmail app as well. Main reason is push notification and send as feature.

I had the same dilemma, HTC mail or gmail....
The gmail app has at least 2 important features missing:
1. There is no pinch to zoom (you can't zoom, this can be very frustrating at times).
2. There is no notification for incoming mail in labels (you only get notified for the main inbox).
For these reasons I finally decided to use k9 mail. It has much more features than the gmail app, supports push as fast if not faster than the gmail app including for labels, and zoom works as well as with HTC mail.
Mail can of course push gmail as well. When setting up an account don't choose googlemail (POP3/IMAP), but set it as Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync using details as described on http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
I know it shows how to set it up on Windows Mobile, but you just need to use the same domain etc.
It will then push email just as it arrives to your mailbox. On my DHD it always beeps earlier than notification addon installed on Google Chrome on my PC when email arrives.
I'm using Gmail with all my other emails imported into it, so I only have to check one inbox to read mail from my AOL, MSN, Hotmail, Roadrunner, and of course, Gmail itself. Very nice mail app.
I use Gmail.
Gmail. If only because I can't be bothered setting up anything else.
Gmail. It's painless.
Cheers from my DHD.
mail
Mail (gmail push). just because i use widgets .

The problem with HTC mail is the same as with the gmail app : it doesn't push the labels; so any new mail you have set to go to a label will not get notified (for instance, I get no notification for my alias email that goes to a sub folder aka gmail label).
K9 Mail has solved this problem. It's the only free mail app so complete and it just "works" where the 2 others above fail.
Tbh, I do prefer Gmail but when I got a reply from co pilot I had to reply within their email and I couldn't because it did not allow me to edit via my phone, its a shame really as I needed to send the email whilst I was on the move, but comparing the two, I do prefer the Gmail overall. The normal email has problems syncing and sometimes brings up emails from ages ago which I had forgotten about

I use Mail to sync with my my company's exchange server, mostly for calender and contacts so I know what im meant to be doing, I wont sync my mail unless there is something specific i need.
I still use gmail app for my gmail personal account.
I have found that HTC's exchange sync app really good, other people in the company have samsung androids or stock androids and have difficulties.
I haven't found a way of getting hold of attachments in the Gmail app... You can only view attachments if it's a document type that Gmail can handle.
So the factory email client is driving me crazy with msn and hotmail. You have to scroll to the bottom of the screen for almost every e-mail to very any if the pics or really the real email. Is there a setting I am missing or something. If not what is the best email client for msn and hotmail.

Try Kaiten (successor to K9). It's my favorite allaround email client and handles pop, imap, and exchange equally well. Simple UI that just works as expected. Great dev that keepa it ipdated as android changes.
My preferred email client is enhanced email. supports exchange push and of course imap. Not free, but when I got this phone it was the best available for the price IMO.
My Note10 has not arrived yet so I can not comment on performance/compatibility with it.
swyped from my MIUI powered Defy (WIUI-2.5.27Plus+ES+V6)
Some of my problems with the email clients are msn/hotmail issues. I want a app that will display whole email every time including pics and keep email in sync with my computer ie. (mark read and delete) I am using live Mail on my computer. I have not found what I am looking for so far.

The stock e-mail client's actually pretty powerful. It looks kind of cartoonish but works well. Set up your MSN and/or Hotmail accounts using ActiveSync. In the stock clients settings add a new account and put in your MSN/Hotmail e-mail address(es) and then click next. On the page that comes up click "manual settings" and select ActiveSync. The fields should be pre-populated. If they're not try these settings...
http://windowslive.ninemsn.com.au/h...hotmails-new-push-email-service-now-available
If they don't work do a Google search and see if you can find anything newer. The advantage of this is that you'll get your e-mail via push and not have to have mutliple e-mail clients running. I disable the GMail app and receive mail via push using ActiveSync in the stock client. That way all my e-mail's in one place and color coded. The stock e-mail widget's nothing to write home about but its workable.
I tried all that but still have to scroll to the bottom of each email and select load more information to get anything but the unreadable message. Not sure if this is hotmail of the email app. Any ideas?

Guys after installing the 21.02 update of the official hotmail app My N4 don't go in deep sleep if I have push notification active in it. Do you have the same problem?
Anyone with the apk of previous version?

I had that issue with the hotmail app and ended up doing some research on this a little while ago. Now I have the stock Android email app configured to Hotmail's active exchange server for push mail. 2 weeks in, no issues.

Push Hotmail
If you want push Hotmail, I highly recommend you use the stock android email app. Open the stock email app, start a new account, enter your Hot mail account and password, but instead clicking next, click Manual Setup. Click exchange. In the Domain/username tap there and put your full email a dress it it. Make sure to retain the slash before it. Keep the password section the same. For the server, delete the whole thing and enter "m.hotmail.com" scroll all the way down and click next. TADA!! Push hotmail without any third party app.
Note, this works with Hotmail, Live, and Outlook. The email address in the Domain/username accepts @Hot mail, @Live, or @Outlook! The server stays the same though. Google knows how to write their apps properly.
Sure Hotmail app has been update but thanks to Microsoft after this problem I have setted up the default email app and is great for hotmail.
I was going to configure it even on gmail but i don't understand why on hotmail it has push notification and with gmail only check in X min.
Btw deleted hotmail app.

I'm just using the default configuration that as server has dub-m.hotmail.com. ATM I don's see any problem using dub server. Why do you suggest the manual setup? Is it there any problem that i haven't seen yet?

Gmail does not allow push mail with apps anymore. They removed it as of Janurary 30, 2013 - first announced in December 2012. The only app that can do push mail is the Android gmail app, and not even outlook can do it.
