[Q] Galaxy Tab 2 repeatedly asking to update? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Hey guys,
I was hoping someone here could throw me a bone on a problem I am having with a Galaxy Tab 2 I got for my wife. For some reason it keeps telling here there is a software update. She has tried to install it mulitiple times and it appears to go through successfully but the prompt comes back again a few hours later. If we click "Later" it gives a a maximum time of 3 hours before it reminds us to update again. i saw someone else had asked about this in another part of the forum and they were directed here. I never found an answer.
So... The numbers:
Model: GT-P3113
Android Ver. 4.0.4
Kernel version: [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT TUE JUL 17 23:47:56 KST2012
Build Number: IMM76D.P311UEBLG5
I've gone in through the start menu and cleared the cache, next step I am considering is starting from scratch with a wipe to factory fresh. Before i did that though I thought I would check here.
Anyone have any advice?

I recommend checking the right forum to get your answer. This is for the first generation Galaxy Tab 10.1 and is not the same as your device.

Same thing here, my tab is still on laggy 4.0.4. I wrote an email to samsung customer service why we still didnt recieved update when most of the world yes and instead of an staight answer to the point they wrote me how to check in settings if my phone has the last update, like if they were thinking im an idiot , definitelly they wanted to avoid answering the question.

You guys should update it with some custom rom, easy as that.
It's hard to brick the tab if you follow the guides...
I spoil Galaxy Ace board three times within the warranty period and replaced. OMAP platform seems more reliable than Qualcom.
Very bad service from Samsung for Galaxy Tab 2 - no updates, single way to update - is custom ROM installing. But if you will brick your device - it is impossible to repair. This is answer from Samsung service - only main-board replacement available for software bricked device. Even it is impossible to repair with JTAG when XLOADER broken.
So it is my badly experience with Samsung - really i never buy Samsung again. My choice is Nexus products, i have bought 2 devices. Very quick Android updates, don't need to experiment with custom ROMs, etc...
also wanting to know this.
there are no custom roms for my tab at all.

Still waiting for my update too!
Should've selected germany upon first activation... literaly within walking distance of the border, and yet the update is now 4 months later not available here.
Screw that, I'll stick to Asus. Say what you will about the TF700, it at least has 4.2 now.

that's because there is a difference between XXBMF1 and UEEMF1...they're not the same. One had an update available, one didn't.
Oh, I see: the version with the modem . Thanks for not flaming btw.
I hope they're prepping it up for a 4.2.2 update.

No prob . Actually I think those first three letters refer to the different country codes for the N5110 firmwares, not another model of the Note like the N5120 (the one with the modem). Different countries or regions may have their own variations and features for a particular model, like our N5110.
Xx is for international I believe. And we all know what xxx stands for. Joke hee hee corny I know.

If I'd root my note 8 will I be able to flash ota updates if I temp unroot with voodoo root keeper?

Nexus 7 3G - Tapatalk
Just a quick note. This updated version does seem to resolve the freezing issues I had with the update over a week ago. I only found out there was an update when I connected the Note 8 to my Mac and waited for 10 minutes while KIES tried to find it (who wrote that software!!!). KIES eventually said there was an update so I tried to download it but it was taking ages so I tried on the Note 8 and it download immediately (at 56Kbps modem speed).
FYI : it is a UK international Note 8 used in Spain.
The U.S. Wi-Fi also got upped now, woke up to JZO54K.N5110UEEMF2 waiting to install .
Yes - it works for me

That's how I do it. Using Voodoo OTA RootKeeper. This AM I got the notice the software update was available. I run the "Temp.un-root" then installed the updates. This has worked for the last 3 updates; UEDMD1, UEEMF1, & UEEMF2. After updates finish, run the Root Restore.
I'll,habe the update.zip in my thread in android development

How do I stop OTA updates before possible root is achieved?

Is there any way to immediately disable any OTA updates directly out-of-the-box? I am hoping to be able to root at some point, but don't want to jeopardize my chances by letting VZ push out some sort of patch that makes it more difficult. I saw on another thread a how-to, but that was after root had already been achieved. Any help would be appreciated, and I'm sure it's something a lot of other people will be interested in as well. Please, if possible, give any instructions in laymans terms lol. I'm no major modder, but root is important to me, as I would like to be able to use the WiFi tether on my unlimited plan.
It doesn't install automatically. You still have to accept the update so just don't touch or do anything.

Okay great, thank you! If I get a notification, I will just ignore it for now.
My girl did that on her s3 a couple times, then one day she unlocked it to find her ota was installing itself anyway. She rejected it for a month before that happened.

Samsung provided Galaxy S II users 2 major Android updates (Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean), a device which was released in April of 2011 and initially shipped with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and finally ended its support in May 2013 (25 Months).
Its now 100% that we will not get another update... but it’s time to accept the fact that the Galaxy S II – which is perhaps the best device Samsung ever made – is going to be stuck on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean forever.

Have a look in the neatrom lite thread in the s2 android development section, it is fairly simple to install if you follow the instructions on the first page, make sure you do a backup beforehand.

I think devs should now eye the port from galaxy s2 plus. It was launched on 4.2 and might get update. So if the port can take place then I think we can still carry on with this beast for a year or so

I just installed the latest version of Jelly Bean for my device I9100XWMS1, for me this version is very very awesome, phone never hang, and never hot, also Battery last very long, and it fixed my Bluetooth and cam problem that i had in older version, i recommend it for everyone...
it support english and it's unbranded so it will work on any carrier.
i can't post link because i have less than 10 posts because i'm new,

Hmmm, I think it's normal, as we know there are millions s4 out of there, which means OTA is coming out part by part, like some user update in day 1, some user in day 2, some in day 3, and so on, because not matter how powerful server and bandwidth they got, I don't think it could possibly withstand the pressure of updating millions device at same time or very short period...
