[Q] Whats the different between Android Development & Original Android Development?
I've seen this in multiple device threads but when entering both sections fail to see any difference? Why have two different sections?
Android Development is basically taking someone else's work, and modifying it slightly. Original is creating your own work. Something along those lines anyway...
So doing something like downloading AOSP and just uploading it, that would count as Android.

Was wondering if we can get a ROM section with all ROMs in one place?
That would be sweet.
The dev section is more or less a rom section.
I don't think a separate section is needed, but what would help is a common format to identify threads which contain ROM's. For example, starting a ROM thread with "[ROM]". Iced Glacier is an example of a ROM thread that doesn't follow that format and therefore doesn't stand out as much as it could.
Maybe a sub section within the dev area....
Have you checked out the Wiki?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Glacier
Section 1.4 sounds like exactly what you are looking for.
Nice suggestion but no need to clutter the forums section as its already classified under Dev. Now I understand it maybe little hard for new users to get use to on what is what from thread title. But one must do research on howto and find it for themselves as if you brick it you are responsible for your own actions.
Best thing I can tell new user is they ask the folks in General or Q&A section to help them list stable roms and report their user feedback on pro/con about the rom this way you can get many input and ultimately flash it yourself and decide.

Realistically, seasoned users have no issues finding roms in the dev section, and new users shouldn't even be aloud to read thre dev section until they've been here for a while and have the chance to learn a little bit so they have a clue before they start trying to flash their phones.
Hi,
I have just recently recovered from a drawn out computer nightmare after having tried to change the logo.rle (second splash screen) in my intrid.gz by myself. I have researched the web and xda on how to do this. I even found a few guides here on doing it. But none of them really give you a step by step set of instructions for a nooby, and I am alien to linux. I tried with ubuntu and couldn't do it. Then I messed up my boot loader for the 4 windows os's i have installed. went through a lot to get that back. and i am out of ideas.
so I am hoping that there might be somebody out there that uses linux and has the experience to do this with relative ease. If anyone can help me. i will attach the 3 logo.rle files and the 3 intrid.gz files (all aokp). myself, dad, and sister are all using the hd2 and i'm setting them all up for us, and i really really want to be able to replace the 2nd splash screen with a reward if found screen, as i have seen here in the forums is a very good thing to have.
can anyone help me?
--- edit
i have attached the 3 logos and the intrid.gz (same aokp intrid used for all of them)
Wrong forum, post questions in the Q&A forum here on.

First off, questions go in Q&A, and will be marked with a [Q] before the title.
Secondly, you didn't provide what version of Android you were running.
I'm guessing here, but you may be running the leaked 4.4 Samsung ROM, if so, look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2607215
If not, then I have no idea.
So far you have created 3 threads for this request:
RULE 5. Create a thread or post a message only once.
I created one thread but it was in the wrong place. Someone told me to put it in the right place. Since I can't move threads I had to create a new one. I didn't realize the original guide was one this forum until later.

Hi,
Is anyone working or know of some project to get an AOSP rom on the edge+ ?
Or even better, a Cyanogen port. I might be interested in trying that for myself but I haven't worked on roms for years, and never actually developed for android so I figured I'd ask first

Actually, searching the help / q&a section first would have been a better idea. All of the following threads mention either aosp or Cyanogenmod:

Not to mention the following thread only a few down in the list from yours in the General section:

The first rule of xda is search before posting :good:
