U8800 Working Radio [rooted] - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

As we all know in U8800 they have given radio hardware (chip) but not software which we can use with some ROMS like MIUI (I tried only one with radio so). But I am using radio on official ROM only after rooting .
Try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mikersmicros.fm_unlock&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLm1pa2Vyc21pY3Jvcy5mbV91bmxvY2siXQ... in google play it will show incompatible but It is working fine for me. Thought to share with you, as all the times I am only coming with Questinos

If your just seeing black its most likely the radio.
We need to know what rom you are using to suggest a radio.
You will either than a 1.59 radio or a 1.58 radio.
Just search the forums there are plenty around, cant just expect everyone to do everything for you

My Dear .. Thanks for ur reply
I use c_shekhar_Pola_1.60.21014aCS_Build21014_Public
and Radio : Polaris_Radio_1.58.21.23
...
I hope So u can help me
Well according to the thread the radio is included in that ROM which strikes me as odd that the camera isnt working.
I would try flashing another rom, preferably one that uses a 1.59 radio.
No One Can help me ...
Oh My God
OK, was the camera working fine after you flashed c_shekhar_Pola_1.60.21014aCS_Build21014_Public ROM/Radio?
- if it was, and stopped working after a time, you camera is likely to be faulty, you might try flashing a ROM/Radio again just in case.
- if it wasn't, then the ROM/Radio combination don't work with your device, try another ROM/Radio(read the recommended one) combination.
like Drakh said, it best to restore original ROM (radio rom included) te test if it's a firmware problem.
In my case I had to return my device for warranty cause it was a hardware defect. (something with loose connection toward the cpu.)
They swapped the device.
install pcarvalho eXtreme ROM it includes radio & now its the best rom exist.
me got no problem.... its a Hardware problem
??
Or 3lite VI it comes with radio 1.65 inside...

You R not alone with these problems, I hardly returned back to original radio version and oridinal rom.
I change roms and radios many times and bluetooth with camera are lost forever.
1. I know exactly that is software problem, because camera stoped working after original upgrade direct from HTC
2. And bluetooth stopped after first radio change.
I have a feeling, there is no difference between Nokia and HTC about their quality. Only operational system makes difference
Just back to Rom ship because i got same problem and resolved now.

fm radio problem

hi all the issue i have is with the reception of my fm radio which is very poor i use the latest gtx nrg rom i have the impression that is a hardware problem do you have any suggestions or should i sent my hd to the service center?
Maybe try with different headphones first. The antenna is actually the wire of the headphones.
i tried that i also compared my hd with another one using the same headphones the difference to the reception was significant any other recommendations?

Ouch, sounds like a hardware issue which you can't do anything about but to claim warranty.
My experiences with this HTC FM receiver are very mixed.
It seems that the screencontroller causes alot of noise which you can clearly hear when you have weak reception and the screen turns off.
Another thing I have, also on the Touch Pro, is that sometimes the fm receiver goes in some slow mute, unmute etc like a slow oscillator.

Hi. I confirm to have exactly your problem. I used task29 to format the rom and flashed a lot of new rom but the problem is always present. I think it's not a hardware problem becouse the radio has bad reception but it function. I think it's a driver problem. Before i started to flash rom different from the original the radio was perfectly functioning. I noticed also that by flashing roms with windows mobile 6.1 compiled 1,5 years ago the radio had no problem. I've noticed this problem 4/5 months ago and i've also asked to various cooks which was the problem, but the answer was always the same the they do not had tested it. I've noticed that by installing the "power radio" software the reception is lightly better. This program uses different drivers.
The problems i have are these:
1) By making a scan radio doen not found any station "No station found" is the answer
2) By changin step by step the frequency i can listen various station
3) RDS is functioning only after for 1 or 2 station and after 1 or 2 minutes of listening.
4) By changing the headphones with other ones the problems are exactly the same.
Now i've have a NGR rom. The last one cooked on the 4 of september 2010. The problems are exactly the same.

so did you find any solution for this or the problem stil persit .
Even iam the victim of this problem
No! I didn,t find a solution. I asked to a lot of cookers and they have been supposing the problem is due to the drivers.
You have to know that htc has developed proper radio fm drivers the cookers don't have.
So the problem is due to the flashing of a cooked rom different from the original one.
As in another post:
"Microsoft hasn't defined a tuner API for Windows Mobile platform (yet) and manufactures such as HTC do not publish their API for FM radio.
GFMAPI is an FM Radio interface that designed to be used on different models of Windows Mobile devices.
It makes all FM RDS based applications such as Radio players, Radio Alarm, TMC navigation works on different devices"
So the chipset of the blackstone radio FM is the "BRF6350 Chipset"
I hope the cookers will find a solution. I Doubt the problem is a hardware problem.
Just someone of you has to try the following: virginize the Htc Blackstone by installing the original rom and the original radio. The rom and radio when u bought the phone.
If the problem persists with the original rom is a hardware problem. So leave the phone to adjust by htc. Otherwise if it is functioning really well with the original htc rom, we could only hope the cookers will find a way to solve the problem in all the future rom.
i agree with you someone who has the original rom 6.1 has to try to find out if this is a hardware problem

Hi Maronna,
Your great , i just downloaded the Rom from HTC site .(Asia version dosent work so used US) This has Radio bundled in it .
Link
http://www.htc.com/in/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=179&cat=2&dl_id=698
The radio perfectly worked, so ideallys its a driver problem.
so we need to get our rom cookers to includde these drivers.
Thanks a lot .
So i was quite sure it was a driver problem. Generally hardware problems are different. For example: you are not able to listen to the radio fm any more.
I don't know why the cookers underevalue this big problem.
I discovered this problem for the first time with the IGO Navigator, becouse i tried to gain the TMC advices (of traffic) through the radio FM with a headphone wire. With the stock rom it was possible but with all the other ones not.
So i propose to all you to write to the cookers, NGR in particular (also if i've tried time ago), to try to solve the problem also if i doubt a solution will be found unless it will be possible to extract the API from the HTC roms... i think
Wow, that is weird!
I am using the NRG 8th of September rom and the radio works as expected.
I did not notice any difference from the stockrom
Can you try to flash the NRG rom again and check if it is still bad after the flash?
Also which HTC radio and rill are you using?
I'm on 1.17 and rill 1.15

Hi Pankajvg,
Sure but I always shorten ENERGY to NRG
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562952
I use the GTX themed ones. They are really beautiful and the new versions are fast.
The download link is in post 2 on that first page.
And no I don't have the described problem with the radio that the thead starter and other have.
I still feel a bit uncomfy about the driver being the issue. Maybe affected users have a different model type. Do you actually have no reception at all ??
There are many variables that would be causing this but I have never actually used the standard HTC radio.
I use powerradio from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531600
The radio and rom work perfectly, even being 10km up in the sky ;-)
I would also check the radio version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466274
The one I use is 1.17... which I find to work perfectly, nice clean GSM signal, almost instant GPS lock etc.
Let us all know your result so the rest can benefit of the result.
Hi Lukesan,
I have already tried with Power radio , but didnt help.
Iam downloading the NRG rom , will flash and update you shortly.

its the same issue.
IaM rolling back to different rom as this ROM has issue with Active syn.
Active sync fails for Exchange account which is very imprtant for my official mails.

Wow seems you have multiple issues.
I'm running that rom and have no issue with my exchange account or radio.
Any way to isolate the files needed for the fm radio from the original rom and incorperate them in another?
Also which original rom are you guys trying? Might be worth to try one from another country and check if yours might be different hardware.
The other question remains, no reception at all or just bad reception?
As described in my first post the problem is bad reception.
I've istalled GTX rom from NRG since 8th of september. I had been flashing at about 200 / 300 rom. I confirm to have the same problem with all the roms 6.5 6.5.x except for the original htc and some other roms with 6.1 by maryone, Luca Picci.
I've also flashed from the first to the last radio (reception) and relative dll. Same problem.
The only exception i had was with a Maryone rom 6.5.5
As I told before the absense of signal is a hardware problem. The bad reception not. The chipset receives the electrical impulses.
May be your blackstone is newer or older than ours and it could have another fm chipset inside. I never told radio was no functioning at all.
Bye
can we have some solution for this .
iam really helpless now.

[Q] is there an FM radio apk for gingerbread roms ?

hi..
I am using UltimateDroid rom from crawling city
and for some reason there is no radio application
I googled a bit and found that MIUI radio works with this build
but the problem that it has to turn on bluetooth
and no-sense roms usually has the BT drain issue
so the question is.. is there another radio apk that works without turning on BT?
just like the HTC radio for example?
thanks!

(edit) Differences between radios

hello. i searched about radio versions but didn't understand actually....also i didn't find a summary on what radio version do or what they are and so on.
I know that radio version can make the signal better, can make the GPS fix faster, can solve some bluetooth issues.
I would like to talk about the 2 and 3rd point.
2 - GPS fix takes a lot of time...i have already tried everything...with the FASTERFIX region change + cyanogen RC3 it looks it is a lot better than before....still, if a radio version can help, then i would like to try.
3 - i REALLY would like my jabra BT3030 to work fine...as I have already said in some other threads, there is an awful lag betwenn ANY video and the sound that i receive in the earphones...it makes it impossible to play any games or watch any movies with the bluetooth stereo headset. With the cyanogen it became better than before (stock rom)....but the lag is still there.
Will a different radio version help me? What should I do? Which radio version should I install? Will it require a hard reset and re-installing a different rom, or the same rom?
At the moment I am with cyanogen RC3 (the one from 27 march i think).
The only way to really know is to try different radios from this tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295
07th March 2011:Radio_12.41.60.19_26.06.04.14_M_Test this one is best for me but i don't use any bluetooth devices. GPS fix is ok in this radio but the 1st time it takes up to 10 minutes to lock and you have to be in area that has direct vision of the sky!
PS: you don't need to reset or reinstall the ROM that you have
ops...i am a bit lost. I have read some tutorials but I know that flashing a radio version is very risky so I really want to be sure about what I am doing....
I am with cyanogen, the boot shows 'SHIP S-OFF'. Do I need to have ENG S-OFF ?
And what about RADIO S-OFF ? How can I check if it's already S-OFF ? If I reboot to the bootloader, I don't find any 'system info' to check the radio version.
From the home screen: power button - reboot - reboot to bootloader:
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.0007
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.0.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
Oct 11 2010,12:47:02
FASTBOOT
VOL UP etc etc.....
BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
How can I check the radio s-off, and so on? I ask this because I don't want to brick the phone...I just want to try different radios in a safe way. I know that it can be done even with SHIP s-off....and that 'engineering s-off' is for enthusiast people...well i'm not an expert so yes, I want to do it the safe way but still remain with same rom, no hard reset, and having the possibility to install - unistall radios so I can try different ones without having the risk of doing damage to the phone.
how do i proceed?
How did you root the phone? What procedure did you follow?
i had to downgrade to 1.32 because i had 1.72 stock (not allowing any root from visionary). So i downgraded through the ADB prompt command (flashing a 1.32 rom stock). Then i rooted with visionary (possible because of the 1.32), and then i installed the cyanogen, staying with the root access. At the moment i am then with root access, cyanogen, android 2.3.3.
but i have no idea about the radio part....
So did you follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003 ?
And if yes, follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
Then follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403
Also keep in mind - when connecting your phone to the computer make sure you have USB Debugging enabled and Connect charge only! And maybe if all go OK your good to go. Good luck!
Yes thanks but my doubt. Was:
Desire HD with stock kernel (or Apache14's 1.0.7 / 1.1.4 Sense) It will not work on 1.72.405.3 or higher build, or new radio (12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M is ok). Downgrade first!!
I am of course with 1.72, should. I downgrade again??? That means doing everything again (rom and apps and so on)
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
You have to downgrade if your coming from stock/you have just bought the phone from a store/ firmware to rooted one only once. Then if you install a ROM from XDA if you noticed into the info for every rom it says ROOTED so you do not have to downgrade every time.
And you can use each radio for each rom. You will find out that littlle of the roms out there are incompatible say with the latest radio

My ENG S-OFF tool works with every ROM if you have root & Radio S-OFF, you would have found that out if you had read the first post carefully
Lol ok i am so afraid of bricking the phone...I'll read better once i get home
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
ok so i successfully flashed a new radio (the one that pockobg said). it doesn't look that better....i left the GPS test on the window and nothing happened...maybe worse than before ?!?!?
Anyway it doesn't matter i'll keep trying. The question is: what's the difference between radios? Are there radios which wouldn't work well in some countries ?
I live in switzerland and the Desire HD I have, I bought that here....which probably is a German version since I'm very near the border and the spoken language is german. Does it make a difference on which radio I should be using ?
Some radios come with different ROMs, for instance i debranded and installed latest HTC ROM, ever since I had poor reception and poor wifi so installed the latest Orange radio and it works much better
I would personally try another radio and see what works best for you
which one is the latest orange radio?
anyway, the gps, wifi, bluetooth reception depend entirely on the radio?
I mean, I am with cyanogen rom RC3, does that make a difference? Will a different ROM have an influence on all the radio things or
ROM x + RADIO z = 10
ROM y + RADIO z = 10
?
Gps, wifi, bluetooth reception depend on the radio but the ROM also takes part. Why don"t you try some other ROM like LeeDroid's 2.2.3 + 2.2.9 kernel? Maybe your problem is ROM related, and make shure you do a wipe.
Few advices for the GPS:
1. First lock takes time - from 10min to 30min
2. Get some where outside where you have a clear view of the sky and away from tall buildings
3. If you are using a case it may be a problem
One question - what program are you using?
PS:
Now i"m using 04th April 2011: Radio_12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3 - Unknown source and i think its the best radio for GPS.
The only one who can determine which the best radio version is, is actually you. You have to try various versions to see which one is best for you and your carrier. Personally I always use the latest version unless I have any radio related issues like poor reception or battery life. I now use the latest one from the unknown source which seems to be the best so far.
I see you are on rc3. I would flash the latest nigthly first which has a lot of improvements and bug fixes before trying other radios.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
I have the latest radio ( 12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3 ) and I'm pretty happy with it.GPS is still a bit slow but faster than with the stock radio. You should try it, but it can also be a rom problem.
the description says 'unknown source ---- be careful while flashing' so I was bit afraid....is it any different from other radios? Do I flash it normally? Why is it risky? What risk is there (if there is any risk) ?
I have been flashing radios now once every 3 days....if you say that this radio is not dangerous (lol that description in the radio thread freaked me out) then I'll try it out today.
We don't know where it has come from, from which rom it has been extracted but it is absolutely safe to flash. Many users have done it with no problems.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
cool! an alien radio. I'm installing it right now.
IN CASE it doesn't make things better (although with the radio I have at moment I can get with gps status a fix in 13 seconds, sometimes in 40 seconds, sometimes 5 minutes aren't even enough...).........my question is:
what are the steps to upgrade to the cyanogen latest version? At the moment I am with the RC3. I could upgrade and see if it improves something. But my worries are the backup.....I mean I have literally hundreds of applications, savegames, home setups through adw launcher ex, widgets and so on. I know there is titan backup (which i have) but i don't really know how to use it. Will it backup ANYTHING (and I am speaking about game savegames, home screen setups and so on). ?

[Q] FM Radio Not Working

Hi All,
I am using a DHD and my FM Radio not working suddenly. I have changed to various recommended radio but still not working. I am using Coredroid 5.4, did a full wipe. I have tried various other roms but still the same issue. I even changed a few headsets as recommended but fails. Any suggestions? I don't think its the rom issue as other things are working perfectly..
Thank you all in advance for any suggestions that you might have..
