Should I get the screen protector or bumper case? I don't want the glass to break.
I'm getting the bumper and a screen protector. Cases are too unwieldy for my taste

If the bumper case come with carbon fiber backing, pretty sure I will get one.
A bumper cas with some sort of backing might be interesting, but I don't see much of a point with bumpers that are just going around the edges.
If the bumper case isn't too bulky I will get it. I can't stand bulky cases like otterbox etc..
i'm planning to get those book-style case, so no need for screen protector.
Where's the vote option for both?
I plan on having a bumper case with a Best Skin ever full body skin... Hopefully it all fits :X

Elliot, are you getting rid of your Infuse too?
I will probably get both, but for sure a bumper case. If I feel the need for a screen protector, I have used ZAGG before and I like there screen protectors, just gives it sort of an orange peel look to it though.
Both maybe,Screen protector for sure.Have destroyed too many displays
The Thickest case available in the market, the back glass breaks easily, the verge review is a proof, the phone then looks too ugly, i have destroyed cells by dropping and would not like to take chances with this phone

I got the OtterBox Black Defender Case - MOTOROLA ATRIX (TM) 4G with the belt clip and built in screen protector. I kind of liked it at first but it keeps jabbing me in the side and I wish I could just put it in my pocket but it's too think to do so while sitting down.
So I'm looking to get another case that will mostly protect my phone from scratches and a few bumps here and there. So this means I need a screen protector too. It's hard to tell how the screen protector feels and how the case fits on the phone.
What have you used or seen that you like and why?

I currently use the anti-glare screen protectors that AT&T carries in store. It takes away a little of the brilliance of the screen but I don't mind. I'm also using the Incipio Feather case but for more protection I also did have the Speck Candyshell which fit it really well and did not impede the screen protector. The only reason I returned it was because the "outer-shell" was too smooth for me, I like the rubberized feel of the Incipio.
I have the OtterBox Commuter case on my Atrix. I really like it. It not nearly as bulky as the defender case but still provides seemingly decent protection.
Do these cases keep it from seating on the laptop dock properly?
Seconding the Otterbox Commuter. The naked Atrix felt kinda slippery, the rubber sleeve peeking through the clip on shell makes it feel secure in my hand.

As far as the laptop dock, I'm not sure but with the multimedia dock I have heard that the Speck case can fit if the insert is taken out. If you use the laptop dock quite a bit I would go with the Otterbox Impact case because it would be the easiest to remove and put back on.

Yes, Otterbox cases are notorious lint magnets. It's a trade off for the protection.
Has anyone heard about "Skinomi TechSkin", "Great Shield", or "splash Masque"?
They are the ones that you can get off of Amazon.com.
I also have the Incipio feather case, works great so far, and is easier for me to hold on to. I work in a warehouse and from handling boxes all the time its hard for me to keep a decent hold on smooth plastic unless I try to crush it.
As far as a screen protector goes, I have not seen a need for one yet. I forgot I had my keys in my pocket when I put the phone in and didn't get any scratches.

Yea, I feel th same way. I usually take such good care of my phones that I never even get scratches on the screen protector but knowing my luck if I ever tried without one something terrible would happen.
Got the Otterbox Defender for mine. I'll happily have a thicker phone for the added protection.
body glove case
Body glove case seems to be the best fit for the atrix...for me, i.e slim, feels sturdy in hand and removes easily to allow fit with other moto accessories.
Just got the Incipio case and it's great so far. I also have a SGP ultra clear screen protector.
This should be in the accessories forum.
I like to use my phones naked!
Even if they get damage.
In fact, I happen to dislike very much how those protectors make the phone larger in the pocket.
If you know of anything for the Atrix which doesn't make it bigger please let me know.
Gold luck guys.
I also have the Otterbox Commuter case and no screen protector since the display is made out of Gorilla Glass.
Not using a screen protector. Just a bodyglove tpu case. Love it.

Using the skinomi body skin .. it's awesome. applying the back part was a little challenging but i got it down.. I failed on my screen though because I did it in low light.. so I didn't notice i still had some lint on the screen so you can see a little when it's bright.

Skinomi is a little bit thicker, so has more chance of orange peel and had a little bit of drag on my finger swipes. (Nit picking, it is slight)
I found skinomi to be better than zagg, although I've had a few skinomis that had a speckled glitter effect due to an uneven adhesive.
In my opinion, BSE is the best of all these wet skins.

I think they have a good warranty... And they are much better at marketing.
I picked up the Skinomi one. Wish it could get her when my nexus does.
I got one from Skinomi as well. Price got me but they all seem to be the same for me. Maybe I'll see, I'm used to third grade protectors from china lol.
I've had a Skinomi protector on my Sensation 4G for awhile. No peeling, I usually forget its there... don't throw your phone in your pocket with your keys. Turns out the Nexus 4 Skinomi product was already on my wishlist! lol
I have a Skinomi on my T-Mo Galaxy S2 and it is really nice. I have heard good things about Best Skins Ever so I might give them a try when I get my Nexus 4.

I REALLY love how the N4 looks without anything on, so sleek and sexy, but as we all know that back glass panel will break eventually with no case :crying: SO my question is this, what are your guys suggestions on protection without hindering the awesome design. I was thinking bumber case but idk, what do you guys think?
I love showing off the beauty of the N4 so I use a bumper and make sure I'm very careful with it :]

Full transparent plastic(like a screen protector) film would b better, Even iPhone 4s has the same issue, but plastic film solved it very carefully without degrading its beauty

Using both bestskinsever full body armor and official bumper. And I think it's the best way to go.

Front and back BSE protector. No bumper, no case. The BSE gives my phone a tackier grip which is what I want.
I suggest a pouch. Protects against scratches, looks classy and the phone will remain in its naked glory ^^
Naked but I'm very careful. My house has carpet through out.

Against scratches, film protectors are enough. Against drops ... not so much.
mofi pouch
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Screen protector in front and a crystal clear case behind.
Ive done the same for my past 2 phones and have never had an issue. The only problem I can see is when sticking the nexus in my pocket as its loose in the pocket untill I sit down then it obviously tightens up. so any coins or what not in there will press nicely against the glass.
When the glasses are readily available and cheap enough I ditch the shocksock but for now it stays.
I use:;
BestSkinsEver front and back protector
Diztronic hard case
Shocksock pouch.
The pouch is perfect for going out and about and will absorb some impact as its like the neoprene laptop sleeves.
Gorilla Glass 2 I believe is decent against scratches. At least v1 on my HTC Incredible S was good so I'm hoping v2 is decent too. Still have the stock scratch guards on the front and back. See no reason to remove them. The one on the back has a lip which was coming out because of my finger so I cut off a small portion. Scratches should be taken care of.
For drops, I ordered a soft gel case off Amazon but I couldn't get it due to delivery issues and friend returned to India. Got a refund but am looking at an Amzer case in a few days. I want the bumper people are raving about on xda.. Will ask my UK friend to pick one up soon.
Other than that, super careful with the phone because it is hot.

A best skins ever for the front and back, and an official bumper for the sides is the best you can do.
Currently naked but I haven't taken it out of the house yet. I'll probably end up leaving it naked and just taking extra care of it.
When I think about how often my Galaxy 2 hit the floor, I shudder. Amazingly, for the amount of times it fell it was in an amazing condition - slightly bruised corners but apart from that just perfect. What I did notice, though, was that when it fell the back case popped off, so I imagine the shock it received upon contact had less of an impact than it would otherwise have had, had the back been unmovable - as is the case with the Nexus.
I started with a front and back Zagg invisible shield but opted to add a ringke slim to make the thing less likely to slip out of my hand.

my White Ringke Slim does just the opposite. It feels like it can just slide out of my hand. I think the phone in its naked form has better grip than with the ringke slim case because of the "rubber" feeling around it
My nexus 4 has been naked for a month now and it feels and looks so great. In some ways I have been thinking about using a case after the inevitable dings and scratches. I guess resale condition makes wrapping up a new phone a necessity but it seems like kind of a shame. I may just do things opposite this time and wrap up after u have enjoyed my naked phone for a while. I do have a case on the way for travel and other times when protection seems obvious.
Anyone else think this way or am I crazy?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Naked so far with no problems.
Just reserve one pocket for the Nexus exclusively to avoid coins or keys scratching the glass.
However, given the anemic ring volume the speaker produces, I'm missing calls, so I'll probably have to switch to a holster once a decent one becomes available.

Has anybody found a DRY APPLY back protector yet? I know some of you are just gonna comment saying buy a skin protector. I'm currently using a xtremeguard for the back but want something new. I know there are some out there but it's way too expensive, the SGP or whatever. Like $15 for 2 front and 1 back?

Is there a reason you "want something new?"
Dry protectors usually do not have the same quality of wet apply protectors, but never have orange peel and are smoother. On the back, however, it is better to be grippy and xtremeguards don't have orange peel (it is a ZAGG thing).

Just buy the SGP. It's worth the money. SGP makes quality protectors. You get what you pay for with them. I had xtreme guard and skinomi on the back. Both are fine but the SGP is just WAY better. Don't have to worry about denting it like a wet protector and you don't have to wait for it to dry. Also it is much friendlier with ringke slim cases if you have one.
I tried the Skinomi with the case just peeled up the corners and it was no good so what is the best protector to use with this case thanks

I have the diztronic mate black tpu using the SGP ultra crystal screen protector. Screen protector is slightly cut smaller due to rounded edges. Took of the case a few times no effect on screen protector. I must say that I just got the phone today, so I'm not sure what will happend overtime.

If you don't mine wet application Best Skins Ever makes a Case Optimized (slightly smaller to accommodate a case) screen protector. It's what I use with the Poetic Bumper. Don't have Diztronic to test but a Cruzerlite is in route. BestSkinsEver

Seconded. Somebody on XDA said XtremeGuard went well with the TPU case- he mentioned a 2nd batch that supposedly had the right proportions, so i ordered one.
NOPE.
Started peeling off as soon as i applied the case. Removed it completely.
I really like the Diztronic case, but i wish it would ship with a screen protector like Nillkin does - a small one that fits with the case.
I might leave my N4 without any screen protection. Just the TPU case and my good old leather HTC pouch.
